Chapter Five: The Avengers Are So Cool
Natasha had told me to go to Avenger's tower to train. Apparently she was one of the superheroes or whatever that saved New York. I don't remember it all that well, since I was young when that happened, but I remember some of it. That was back when my mom was alive. . .
Anyway, she is going to introduce me to all of the Avengers. I'm rather excited, because they did save the world. And especially since we lived in New York. . .
They saved my mom.
Sure, they couldn't saved her from Gabe, but they did save her. They couldn't have known about Gabe, but they saved us from the aliens. They saved her. If I think enough, I can even remember Natasha's face. She literally saved my mom. My mom and I were shopping when the aliens came, and Natasha literally saved us from an alien.
She doesn't remember me, but I guess that's to be expected.
I pulled myself out of my thoughts as Mrs. James walked over to me.
"You're going to go out to be trained by—Natasha, was it?"
"Yes," I replied.
"Take this with you," she said, handing him a phone. "In case you run into any trouble, or just need a ride back or something."
"Thank you, Mrs. James. Do I give it back to you when I get back?" I asked.
"Call me mom, dear. And you don't have to give it back. Keep it."
"Really?" I was surprised.
"Yes," Mrs. James said, smiling. Then, she frowned. "By the way, do you know where Leo is? I haven't seen him all morning. . ."
"He ran away," I said.
Mrs. James gasped. "Really? Why?"
"Ben and Garry," I replied quietly. "They would come after Leo next, so Leo had to run away."
"How do you know all this?" She asked.
"He told me," I answered.
"You didn't stop him?"
I shook my head. "It was bound to happen eventually. Besides, it's not like he's never ran away from a foster home before. I encouraged him to leave. He can be destined for great things, and I don't want him to be beat up for being himself."
Mrs. James stared at me for a moment. "But by staying here, aren't you doing the same? Getting beat up for being yourself?"
I sent her a half smile. "Getting beat up is what made me who I am in the first place."
I left before she could reply.

I went to the Avenger's tower. Natasha was standing outside it, waiting for me.
"Hello, Natasha," I said. She smiled at me.
"Hello, Percy," she replied. "Ready to meet the Avengers?"
I smiled. "I can't wait."
"I'm glad to hear that. Follow me. . ."
She walked into the tower. I followed her into an elevator. A few moments later, we got out of the elevator, and she led me into what was obviously the living room.
There was a big TV, and some movie was on. The Avengers turned their heads to us when we came in.
There was a chorus of "Hi Natasha"s before someone saw me.
"Who's this?" Asked one of them.
"I'm Percy," I said.
"As he said, his name is Percy," Natasha said. "I'm gonna be teaching him self defense, but I told him I'd introduce him to you all first. Percy, this is Tony, Clint, Steve, Wanda, and Thor."
I waved nervously.
Natasha smiled at me. "Go ahead, say hi. Shake their hands or something."
"Yeah," Tony said. "I don't bite. Hard."
Natasha glared at him, but on the other hand, my nervousness left me. I walked over to him, smiling.
"You remind me of a friend of mine," I said, holding out my hand for him to shake. He shook it. "You two would get along great."
Tony smiled. "Will you introduce me to him, then?"
My smile went away slightly. "He ran away last night."
"Oh. . ."
There was a slightly awkward silence.
"Who knows?" I said. "Maybe we'll see him again. Probably not, but one can hope. . ."
I quickly shook hands with everyone before Natasha and I said a quick goodbye and left the room again.
She led me to a training room.
"So," she said. "Do you know anything at all about self defense?"
"Uh, not really. I know a lot about how bullies' minds work, though, if that helps," I answered.
"That helps a lot, actually," she said. "If you know how their minds work, then you can kind of tell what they're going to do. All you need to learn is how to react to the what they actually do. Does that make sense?"
"Yes, actually," I replied.
"Okay. Ready to start learning?"
I took a deep breath.
"I'm ready."
-Timeskip-
Natasha ended the lesson and said that I could stay for lunch if I wanted. I accepted.
Now, I was on the couch with the Avengers, eating lunch while the movie was on. I was only half watching it. I was also, well, eating, and I was making a sketching out some invention or something on a piece of graph paper that Natasha borrowed (stole) for me from Tony.
I didn't really know what I was drawing out. My ADHD was kind of just doing whatever, but somehow my brain was still doing all the math. I honestly doing really know what math I was doing, since I was doing the math mentally and almost subconsciously, my hand just drawing whatever it was supposed to be, without me knowing what it actually was.
I'm sorry if that was confusing.
The movie finished. I ate the last of my food, then went back to my blueprint.
"What're you drawing?" Tony's voice asked from behind me. I shrugged, drawing the last line.
I actually looked at it. It was some kind of car. . .I had designed an engine, the actual car shape, the car itself, etc.
"Apparently a car," I said. "You can have it. Maybe you can make it or something." I pushed the paper into his hands.
He smiled at me, then looked at the paper. After a few moments he looked at me. "This is genius. . .I'll definitely make it. You know what, if you want to help me make it. . ."
My jaw dropped in shock. "Really?!"
"Of course," Tony said. "You designed it. If you want to help make it, then you can. I'll wait until you come back for more lessons with Natasha. We can start making it after your training."
"Thank you!" I exclaimed.
"No problem, kid," he replied. "I can't wait to make it with you."
I flashed him excited smile before saying goodbye and going outside with Natasha.
"Do you need a ride back?" She asked.
"Nah, I'll be fine," I answered.
"Really, it's no big deal," she said. "I could drive you back."
I smiled to her. "It's alright. I can just call home."
"Okay. Well, bye Percy."
"Bye, Natasha."
Natasha went back into the tower.
I walked home.
