Part 20
Annalise's POV
I pin Castor's attacker up against the wall, my wand to his neck. Castor lies unconscious next to us, blood seeping from a gash on his forehead. About ten metres in front of us lies Jasper, immobilised. I scowl at the attacker, the person who I am about to kill, and feel my wand hum in my hand. I prepare for the curse, summoning every atom of hate in my body and-
"Liz?" Oh, this is just my luck. This is Nate. My brother. We were dumped in a children's home, I was five, he was twelve, and well... Something happened. When he was fourteen, he ran away with his friends and I- I was seven, remember- got into a bit of... trouble. Two girls were making fun of me, and joking about how they always knew Nathan was a weirdo. What else was there to do but levitate them over the stairs and drop them? Sure, one of them got a fractured skull and the other was in a wheelchair for life, but the sacrifice was made for the greater good, wasn't it? So I was shipped off to Azkaban and he was on the run. I internally groan. How could Nate join the light? He had never acted like he supported them.
What am I gonna do? About twenty more Aurors had appeared, and were closing around him. I hiss to my brother.
"Help us, or I'll curse you out of this world, and I mean it!"
He laughs, but I can see the flames of fear dancing in his eyes "Woah, sis, when'd you get so fierce?"
"When I was thrown into Azkaban, you twat! And while you and your little mates were living it up in the streets!"
His eyes hardened, anger replacing fear "We were never 'living it up in the streets'! We had to fight to survive there. The only way to live was to join the light. Dumbledore offered me a chance when I was sixteen."
"And your mates came with you, did they?" I mocked.
"No. They were dead." He pushes away from me, walking towards the door and flicking at bat bogey hex towards me. It hits an Auror, and as he falls backwards, it causes a domino reaction, sending Aurors toppling over and trying to defend their faces from the bats.
I stare at everything. "Wow."
I quickly release Jasper, and he helps me tie up all the Aurors.
"Incarcerous" I whisper, and ropes shoot from my wand and wrap themselves around the last groaning man.
Remembering Castor, I rush back over to him, dropping to my knees and checking for a pulse like Hadrian had taught me. It was there, but it was too slow. I cast a Scourgify to clean the blood from his face, and then fix the cut with Episky, leaving a long, jagged scar across his forehead. Not the neatest job, but he'll probably want a souvenir from the visit anyway. As I straighten up, he stirs, sitting up and pressing his hands to his forehead.
"Merlin, I have one hell of a headache."

Unaware of the happenings upstairs, Xavier leans towards his twin. "Go on, then."
"Well," Xander starts "I thought at first that when the Potters enter their vaults, the creatures and coded curses just recognise them, but then I remembered that Sphinxes can't let people pass without them solving the riddles (No idea if this is true lmao) and no offense to Hadrian but personally I don't think the Potters are smart enough to solve riddles and defeat dragons every time they want to view their vault."
A hint of a smile appears on Xavier's face "You're saying that-"
"Yeah, I think there's another way to the vaults."
not proof read cuz i cant be bothered right now
