Chapter Fifteen
Amoux was tied up and on his knees, glaring up at me.
I was now dressed in a loose gown. Forcibly so, because Dalton didn't approve of my cute pajamas. "I didn't think you'd come on so strong, if I had known I would've dressed better."
"You witch, you set me up," Amoux accused from between his gritted teeth. His dark eyes were burning with anger. "When I get out of this, I'll make you pay."
Baros tapped the end of his sheathed sword against his shoulder. "None of that now. Our crazy princess will make more for work for us if you do something silly."
I glanced at Baros, "You're getting a bit too comfortable calling me names."'
"I'm only speaking truth Princess, you said you like truth tellers the most," he pouted. "Does princess not like me?"
Th-this crazy knight was too much like me. "Baros, who was your mother?"
Confused, his expression turned blank. "Huh? I'm an orphan."
I hummed in thought. Yeah, I'm feeling a messy family reunion coming up soon but after pulling that stunt with my third brother and disappearing the crown prince I'll have to hold off on causing anymore chaos. My dear father needed to live at the very least 10 more years before I could send him on his way.
"Amoux, I've argued with the emperor, you know him Carthage Agryos, the blood drinker of our Lixal Empire. The person who so graciously allowed your bother and you to stay here with your few trusted aides and family members. My beloved, handsome, and kind father. Who so generously gave you refuge."
I think I'm going to be sick, and I wasn't the only one it seemed. As Dalton, Cirilo, Baros and Scarlette were all looking at me like I'd lost my mind. I even caught the way Scarlette and Cirilo exchanged gazes; his questioning my insanity and hers, confirming I was okay...she thinks.
I cleared my throat, and smirked down at Amoux. "Don't let the chatter of insignificant nobles fool you. My father doesn't hate me at all. I could even say he cherishes me quite a bit."
"Ugh," A sharp cough had me glaring at Dalton.
"Yes, father emperor cherishes me, dearly." Finished driving home that I am loved, I am special, and I am beautiful. I added, "And he's been very clear that if I try to sell—I mean offer my innocents to a man outside of marriage he'd annihilate them down to the last child."
When my words finally dawned on Amoux, I saw the anger in his eyes dim as worry quickly took over. Crossing my legs, I placed a hand against my chest. "As an honest person, it would go against my better nature to not tell my father everything about tonight."
"You!" Amoux jumped.
Two hands landed on of his shoulders and with quite a bit of force Baros and Dalton brought him back to his knees.
