93. Leap
Yoongi didn't have much of an imagination. Moreover, he didn't think he'd actually get the chance to beat the crap out of himself either. But here the fire gem bearer was now, standing across what he assumed was his dark side who was literally burning from head to toe.
Truthfully, Yoongi didn't think that Taehyung's corruption affected them all that much. He thought the only thing the gem did was take advantage of their anger and turn them bloody thirsty murderers. He never even considered this possibility.
"Hey, Yoongi?," Yoongi grunted when you pulled him to his feet. "This other you... he looks so—"
Yoongi didn't need you to finish your sentence for him to know. This other him looked so angry with all the flames that were coating his body. The piercing purple orbs his replica had made a shiver run down the fire gem bearer's spine. Holly whined overhead.
Then Yoongi's replica started to talk— Wait, how was he supposed to call this thing? His replica? Clone? Fake? Anyways—
"Playing the hero like a fool," This other Yoongi chuckled. The nails of his hands grew to long talons. "You think doing any of this can make you a better man?"
Yoongi gritted his teeth as his eyes burned a bright orange. The heat of hot blue flames brushed his face as they coated his whole body. He could feel your gaze on his face.
"Whatever you do, think or say— you are nothing."
With a deep breath, Yoongi closed his eyes. He could almost see his mother standing in front of him and saying the same thing. With the memory of her shouts and strikes, the fire gem bearer's hands balled into fists.
"You always will be."
The ground beneath Yoongi's feet shattered as he broke into a sprint. His teeth sharpened into fangs as he pierced through the air. Flame wings sprouted on his back, scales dotting his cheeks and hands.
Yoongi gripped his fake's neck tightly, his claws digging into the flesh. He was surprised that he could actually touch this replica, especially since the fire gem bearer expected his fingers to brush through a figure of mist instead.
"Listen here, you fake piece of crap," Yoongi growled at his replica's face, not entirely sure if you were really screaming his name or not. "I am sick and tired of hearing that all the damn time!"
Fake Yoongi didn't respond to that, instead he gave the real Yoongi a malicious grin. This almost made the fire gem bearer rip out his replica's throat.
"All my life, I've been told the same thing, that I can never make it," Yoongi took deep breaths as he recalled all the mistreatment he endured for years. "That I'm nothing. Well fuck that!"
Yoongi released his grip on his replica and stood up. Whilst stepping on his fake's neck, his flame wings burned brighter and grew larger.
"I don't care what you people think," Yoongi whispered slowly with a trembling jaw. "In fact—"
"Stop pretending," Fake Yoongi squinted his glowing purple eyes.
Yoongi wasn't really sure of what happened next. Suddenly, dark purple flames shot towards him and nearly burned off his clothes. The force was so strong that he was pushed backwards. A trail of charred marble was left under his feet.
"You always try so hard to make people like you," Fake Yoongi cracked his burning knuckles. "But deep down you know that it will never work. Nobody will ever—"
It all went silent when a purple katana suddenly went through Fake Yoongi's torso. You stood behind the replica with gritted teeth and glowing purple eyes.
"Cloud!," Yoongi screamed as he wobbled to his feet. Holly flew next to him and snapped its jaw in worry. "Get away from there!"
The way you looked at Yoongi said it all, no words needed— I'm not going to stand there and let this thing beat you.
"Huh," Fake Yoongi glanced behind him and at the burning expression you had on. "Here she is in the flesh, the very cause of your suffering."
Fake Yoongi grabbed the blade of the katana as it glowed a bright red. You yelped as your hands burned and immediately let go of the weapon. Falling to the ground on your ass, you stared at your blistered hands in pain.
Yoongi watched helplessly as his replica grabbed you by the collar and threw you upwards. With gritted teeth, the fire gem bearer jumped and flapped his flame wings. You crashed right into him as both of you fell hard on the ground.
With the throbbing pain on his back, Yoongi was sure that at least something was broken. Still, he put on a smile as you sat up. "You okay, Cloud?"
"I'm fine but... you didn't have to do that," You shook your head as you got up and pulled Yoongi to his feet the second time today. "I could have taken that fall myself."
Yoongi didn't answer to that. Instead, he turned towards his replica, whose torso still had that large gash with purple blood dripping down to his feet. The fake didn't seem fazed by it though.
"Look at her, Yoongi," Fake Yoongi gestured at you with a flaming fingertip as you raised your shield. "The love of your life. Didn't you give your all as her boyfriend?"
Yoongi could feel your gaze shift to his face. He didn't say anything, instead he inhaled sharply. The way this replica spoke— it was familiar. It made the fire gem bearer wonder if these thoughts really did cross his mind before.
"You loved her so much, Yoongi," Fake Yoongi's voice came with a croak, almost as if he was choking on a sob. "And what did you get in return?"
Yoongi took a secret peak at you. He felt his anger boil at the pure sorrow and regret that was evident in your expression— Why did you look so guilty? You didn't have to be.
"Nothing!," Fake Yoongi screeched with crazy eyes. Your katana was still in his torso. "Despite all the love you gave, she—"
"Shut the fuck up."
A short silence fell as Yoongi laughed lightly to himself. You stared at him questionably. Holly was growling but showed no attempts to attack Fake Yoongi. Weird.
"If you keep spouting all that bull, maybe one day you'll make sense," Yoongi shook his head and took a step forward. His replica flinched. "Last time I checked, Cloud doesn't owe me shit."
Yoongi felt your gaze on his face again, this time one that was much softer. This made the fire gem bearer smile to himself. He kept his burning gaze at his replica, who seemed taken aback by his reaction.
"She has absolutely no fault in the way I feel," Yoongi smirked as the distance between him and his replica slowly closed. "Just because I love her doesn't mean she has to feel the same way."
"Y-You're wrong
!," Fake Yoongi screamed, the flames around his body intensifying. "She is more than obliged to—"
"How many times do I have to tell you to shut up?," Yoongi snapped. The chaos of multiple battles around him sounded like mumbles in his ears. "You're repeating yourself. Don't you have anything else to say?"
Fake Yoongi was silenced by that. Yoongi wasn't sure where his sudden confidence came from but he felt like he finally knew how to defeat his replica. Physical attacks weren't going to work— but something else could.
"You are right about one thing," Yoongi gazed at the ground as he sighed deeply. "Not a lot of people like me. And yeah, maybe I did try to be likeable before."
Yoongi remembered his first few days living in the streets. He remembered being shunned for being homeless. He remembered the accusations by the police of him being a kid who didn't appreciate their parents. Heh, if they knew.
Every single person Yoongi would encounter in the streets would only use him to help steal something, then they'd leave. It was a pattern he was used to, something the fire gem bearer expected you to do after he was caught stealing your watch.
But you stayed and didn't take advantage of him either. Yoongi smiled at the memory.
"But... now I've realized one thing," Yoongi was standing right in front of his replica, who looked extremely nervous. "If you find the right people, it doesn't matter if nobody else likes you."
Yoongi closed his eyes for a few seconds. He saw himself sitting in one of Greta's rooms with the rest of Single Men Club as laughter filled the air. He saw himself sitting with the rest of the team around the dinner table with a smile.
"Besides, I may be hot-tempered, opinionated and can be one hot mess," Yoongi crackled his knuckles and placed his hands on his replica's shoulders. "But that's me. And I like me. I guess my friends do too."
A short silence passed between the two. Yoongi stared at his replica, whose expression remained stoic throughout the whole thing. You and Holly were quietly staring from behind the fire gem bearer.
"Nothing you say can change that."
Yoongi thought of a lot of possibilities. He wondered if he did the wrong thing and ended up pissing off his replica. The fire gem bearer considered the scenario of his life ending right where he stood.
Instead, Fake Yoongi laughed and mirrored real Yoongi's position, both hands on his shoulders as well. "You really are a fool."
Yoongi's eyes widened when his replica started to fade. Soon, the figure in front of him dissipated into purple mist that swirled in circles before surrounding him. At first, the fire gem bearer thought he was being attacked, then he noticed his gem glowing.
The purple mist gathered above the fire gem as it continued to swirl. Yoongi watched silently as the fire gem absorbed what used to be his replica. When it ended, the fire gem was glowing in a stronger shade of orange.
"Uh," Yoongi stared at the fire gem hanging from his bracelet. "What just happened?"
"Yoongi!," You dashed towards Yoongi and paused when you noticed your purple katana laying on the ground in front of him. "Are— are you okay? What— where did your fake go?"
Yoongi watched in silence as you picked up your katana. Holly flew right into his arms and purred. The fire gem bearer smiled as his little dragon nuzzled its snout on his cheek.
"I honestly don't know, Cloud," Yoongi glanced at his gem again. Holly purred. "I think I beat it?"
You tilted your head and sighed in relief. "How?"
How. Yoongi thought hard and rubbed his temple as he groaned. He knew how high the stakes were. Although not entirely sure how exactly he beat his replica, the fire gem bearer knew that he had to tell the others how to do it.
Yoongi glanced around. Hoseok was struggling in the air with his replica, both figures spiraling around uncontrollably. Namjoon and Jimin were out of his line of sight but he could heard the crackling electricity and shattering rock of the battle.
Jungkook was standing behind Emily, who watched worriedly as Jin conversed in an oddly peaceful manner with his replica. Yoongi scanned the water gem bearer's figure, his eyes widening when he spotted the fresh blood flowing down his torso— Right, he wasn't healing!
"Everyone, listen up!," Yoongi screamed before he could filter his thoughts. Panic filled his system when he felt everyone including the replicas stare at him.
In mere seconds, Yoongi realized how stupid his decision was. He was definitely about to say something the replicas wouldn't like and shouting it for everyone to hear was equivalent to signing off his death contract. Despite that, he knew he had to do it. Holly whimpered slightly in his arms.
"You guys can beat it like I did but physical attacks won't work!," Yoongi screamed and raised his hand to show off his glowing fire gem. "What you have to do is acce—"
Yoongi was cut off when a wave of purple water suddenly came crashing towards him. Stunned, the fire gem bearer instantly tossed Holly away before he was engulfed.
Flailing his limbs, Yoongi desperately held in his breath. He couldn't swim so he ended up spinning in circles in the water. The fire gem bearer could see you screaming outside as you attempted to dive in and pull him out. Instead, your figure was deflected and you ended up being tossed a few feet away.
Ironically, Yoongi felt like his skin was burning. Every second he spent underwater was horrible, like his soul was slowly chipping away. The only source of light he had in the abyss was the faint orange glow of his fire gem.
Yoongi couldn't tell how long he had been submerged but he was starting to lose his breath. He felt his throat close as the water entered his lungs. Black spots started to appear in the fire gem bearer's vision.
The next few minutes were a blur. Yoongi could hear the voices around him clearly now. Despite that, they sounded far away, almost like echoes.
"Is he breathing?! He's not—"
"S-Stand back, I'll extract the water in his lungs!"
"Macht, Yoongi! Don't you dare die on us, you piece of—"
Yoongi's eyes snapped open once he finally got a huge breath of air. The fire gem bearer sat up and went through a violent coughing fit. He shivered at the cold, especially because he was of how dripping wet he was.
"Yoongi," Jin spoke as he rubbed Yoongi's back. The fire gem bearer caught sight of a floating ball of water in the air for a split second before it fell. "You okay?"
Yoongi's teeth clattered together. He could feel his whole body shiver. Looking around, the fire gem bearer saw you, Jin and Jungkook staring at him in worry. His surroundings weren't as chaotic as they were a few moments ago.
"Yeah... I guess I am, thanks," Yoongi nodded with a smile, his grey matted on his forehead. "Did you beat it?"
Jin smiled a bit and looked down. Yoongi followed his gaze and saw that the water gem was glowing a bright blue. At the same time, he noticed that the blonde's torso was no longer coated in blood, instead there were tears on his shirt and bare skin instead of wounds.
"Had an idea but what you screamed out confirmed my theory," Jin grinned and showed off his pearly white teeth. "You do know that just shouting it could have killed you, right?"
"How else could I have told you guys," Yoongi mumbled under his breath as he stood up and wobbled slightly. "The others?"
Nobody answered. Yoongi felt the dread pool in his stomach as he gulped and glanced around. The first person he spotted was Hoseok, who was thankfully in the midst of absorbing his replica. Taehyung and Shay were out of his line of sight.
Yoongi turned around and his eyes widened. Jimin was knelt down on one knee and was clutching his bleeding arm as he panted. There was no sign of the thunder gem bearer's replica anywhere. Across him, however, were two quarreling Namjoons.
When you attempted to jump in and help the couple, Jin grabbed your arm to halt you. "Don't. Assisting them won't help them beat their inner darkness."
Neither you or Yoongi said anything to that. Truthfully, the fire gem bearer wanted to help, especially with how both of his friends were bleeding profusely. At the same time, he knew that Jin was right— They had to beat the replicas themselves.
Jimin winced, the blood of his arm squelching from under his grip. He stared at the two Namjoons on the ground— two Namjoons who looked identical, neither had purple eyes.
"Chim!," The first Namjoon cried out as he choked the other Namjoon on the ground. "Don't let him fool you!"
"Don't listen to him, Chim!," The second Namjoon spoke, his haw trembling as he continued to be choked. "I'm the real Namjoon!"
Jimin just stared. Unlike what Yoongi expected, the thunder gem bearer didn't look as conflicted. Instead, he released a sharp sigh and clenched his jaw.
"God—," Jimin whispered a lot of words under his breath in frustration. "Hey, Namjoons!"
Both Namjoons instantly halted and turned towards Jimin. Yoongi was terrified at how there was literally no difference between the two. It made the fire gem bearer wonder how the replica made himself look more human.
"Answer this question right and maybe I'll consider you to be my Joonie!," Jimin hissed loudly, his eyes glowing a bright yellow. "What was the first thing you called me when we first met?!"
Within a split second, the Namjoon on top of the other screamed out a reply. "Pork Jumin!"
Both Jimin and the other Namjoon turned towards the one who replied. Yoongi felt his heart hammer in chest but he couldn't tell if it was out of relief or dread— especially because he couldn't tell if he was the real Namjoon or not.
"We first met after I got out of prison," Namjoon panted as a big dimpled smile appeared on his face. "But when we spoke alone for the first time, I called you Pork Jumin by accident. I'm still sorry about that, by the way!"
Nobody said anything for a moment and all was silent until Jimin slowly stepped forward. Yoongi noticed that the Namjoon on the ground looked extremely defeated, almost as if he was going to burst into tears on the spot.
Jimin was standing in front of Namjoon (the one who answered) whilst the other remained on the ground. The thunder gem bearer scanned his figure from head to toe before smiling.
"Oh, Namjoon," Jimin slowly snaked his hands up Namjoon's back and engulfed him in a hug.
Yoongi watched as the two hugged in silence. The Namjoon on the ground was seated, still looking defeated as he stared at the duo. Yoongi squinted his eyes when he noticed the dark glint in Jimin's eyes.
Suddenly, Namjoon's body convulsed in Jimin's hold. Electricity crackled for a sickening few minutes before the replica dropped to the ground unconscious.
"Correct," Jimin smiled and reached out a hand to the stunned Namjoon on the ground. "Get up, Joonie."
Namjoon's jaw dropped. He stared at Jimin for a solid five seconds before grabbing his hand. As he stood, the earth gem bearer held his lover's shoulders. "How did you know?"
Jimin giggles as his eyes turned to crinkled crescents. "How wouldn't I know?"
Namjoon grinned and hugged Jimin so tightly that the latter released an oof in shock. "I love you, Jimin."
"I love you too, so much," Jimin pulled away with a smile and gently cupped Namjoon's cheek. "Joonie, listen... Don't be afraid of your replica."
Namjoon glanced over his shoulder and at his replica, who was still unconscious on the ground. "But... the things he says are—"
"I know," Jimin sighed, his eyes sparkling as he looked up at Namjoon. "You can beat him, Namjoon, you are much stronger than him. Don't let his words get to you."
Namjoon pursed his lips into a thin line. He smiled and slowly loosened his grip on Jimin. The earth gem bearer knelt to the ground next to his replica and stared at him in silence.
"You can never protect those you love," Fake Namjoon suddenly spoke with a low chuckle. "You've failed before... What makes you think you won't fail again?"
Namjoon sighed. He slowly reached out and held his replica's shoulder. His replica didn't react to the touch, instead he just chuckled.
"Look at yourself, Namjoon," Fake Namjoon's purple eyes glinted as he smirked. "You're a monster."
Namjoon glanced down at his purple arm. He balled his hand into a fist, his sharp black nails nearly piercing through his wrist. With a small smile, he tilted his head at the replica.
"No matter how many times you try to convince me," Namjoon scanned his replica's figure and noted that he had a purple arm as well. "I know that I'm not a monster."
Fake Namjoon raised an eyebrow, which made real Namjoon laugh a bit.
"And you're right, I've failed before. I can't even say how much I regret that," Namjoon shifted his grip and grabbed his replica's collar instead. "But that doesn't mean I'm going to fail again. Besides..."
Namjoon glanced behind him. Jimin was staring at him worriedly whilst fiddling with his fingers. When the thunder gem bearer met his eyes, he grinned.
"I swore with my life that I'd protect Jimin," Namjoon smiled and showed off his deep dimples. "And I won't disappoint him."
A silence came. Yoongi watched with furrowed eyebrows as Namjoon and his replica maintained awkwardly intense eye contact. Jimin stared as well, his legs trembling and hands clasped together in a praying gesture.
"You...," Fake Namjoon spoke in a whisper, his scowl slowly turning into a smile. "You really do love him, don't you?"
Namjoon laughed at that, his earth gem glowing a bright yet solid brown. "Of course I do."
Slowly, Fake Namjoon's figure started to fade into purple mist. Dissipating, the mist turned to glitters as it surrounded the earth gem bearer. The sight was familiar to Yoongi except this time, it was a lot softer, much more beautiful even. The fire gem bearer heard everyone around him sigh in relief.
Fake Namjoon continued to smile and spoke just when his face started to fade. "Keep it up."
In the span of a few seconds, the replica was gone. The purple mist around Namjoon faded completely. For a moment, the earth gem bearer stared at his gem then he yelped when Jimin suddenly tackled him from behind.
"I knew you could do it, Joonie," Jimin's cheeks flushed as he nuzzled Namjoon's back, his arms wrapped tightly around his lover.
Namjoon held both of Jimin's hands and smiled. Yoongi, who felt like ants would start to eat him inside out, turned around with a smirk. "So that's the last of— Where's Jungkook?"
"Huh?," You furrowed your eyebrows and glanced next to you, where Jungkook was supposedly standing. Instead, there was empty space. "He was right the—"
You were interrupted by a loud explosion that shook the ground. Yoongi wobbled and landed on his ass as Holly screeched in his arms. A strong gust wind blew. The fire gem bearer instinctively wrapped his whole figure around the dragon.
A mixture of debris and dust mixed in the air. After the ground stopped shaking, everyone faced a specific direction. Yoongi followed their gazes and spotted Hoseok standing just behind Emily.
"It wasn't me!," Hoseok yelped and raised both of his hands in the air.
"Wait a minute," Emily stepped forward and squinted her eyes, long brown hair disheveled. "Isn't that Greta?"
Yoongi was confused until he finally got a good look at what crashed through the walls of Hel's lab. Half of Greta was digging into the ground. The fire gem bearer was stunned at how he and the others were standing right next to the ship.
"It is?," Jin was hiding behind his trident for some reason. "How did Greta get here?"
"I have an idea," Namjoon spoke as he and Jimin jogged to the group with intertwined hands. Then the earth gem bearer glanced somewhere far away.
Yoongi followed Namjoon's gaze and spotted three figures. Jungkook stood a few feet across the portal, all six of his wings folded behind his back. Next to him were the Bristene siblings. Taehyung cradled Shay, his arms wrapped tightly around his sister.
Amusingly enough, nobody questioned how Taehyung somehow planned Greta's crash. Yoongi figured that everyone was used to the surprises the darkness gem bearer had up his sleeve by now.
"How in tarnation—," Yoongi was a bit perplexed by Hoseok's semi-country accent. The air gem bearer tapped his goggles as the lens whirred. "That's... Chuu? And Yves?"
Yoongi's brain buffered for a few good seconds. Holly tilted its head in his arms. "Who?"
Everyone stared at Yoongi, who wondered why he was receiving so many glares. Jimin sneezed softly from somewhere behind him.
"Yoongi," You spoke with a small laugh. The katana was placed over your shoulders, blood dripping from its blade. "LOONA?"
"LOO— oh," Yoongi blinked when he finally remembered who the girls were. Rubbing his nape, the fire gem bearer stared at the two Helian women as they spoke from up the deck. "Right."
"Tae, care to explain?"
Turning around, Yoongi saw the trio walking towards him and the rest. Jungkook had both of his arms crossed over his chest. A grin was on the angel's face as he glanced at Taehyung, who had one hand holding the snake head staff resting on his shoulder.
Taehyung's other hand was gripping Shay's. She was standing behind the two princes, her gaze fixated to the ground. Yoongi stared at her for a bit. He could see the guilt written all over the princess' face.
"Did you actually consider the portal opening like it did?," Namjoon shook his head and chuckled lightly. "Because if you did then..."
As Namjoon trailed off, Yoongi turned towards the portal. The fire gem bearer wondered if he was the only who didn't actually notice that it was open— Maybe because he was too busy drowning.
Almost death experiences aside, Yoongi scanned the area and widened his eyes. "The army... They're gone? Does that mean—"
"They got through and started the invasion," Despite how horrible Jungkook's revelation was, the angel still had on a small smile. "Not so good, yeah?"
Yoongi could almost hear his heart drop and shatter in his chest. He could feel the tension thicken in the air too. The fire gem bearer felt his jaw clench as hot blue flames coated his body. Holly hummed, not at all bothered by the heat.
Just the mere thought of everyone's efforts going to waste at the last second infuriated Yoongi to the core. All the sacrifices and pain his team endured, all lead to nothing. For a moment, the fire gem bearer felt hopeless.
As if on cue, Hoseok spoke up with his signature heart shaped smile. "Don't be so down, fellas. We haven't lost."
"Hoseok's right," Taehyung's deep voice rumbled as he nodded once at the air gem bearer. "We may have failed to stop Father here... but we can still stop the invasion."
"You mean—," Jimin squinted his eyes before they widened. He gasped lightly. "We're going to battle King Michael and his army? On Earth?"
"Goodness," Emily shook her head. She strummed the string of her bow. "Honestly never thought we'd come back."
"I said the same thing," Jungkook mumbled under his breath, the little wings on his head folding.
"Okay, that's good to hear but why is Greta here?," Jin pointed his thumb backwards and at the debris covered Greta.
"If the wonders do not mind, I would like to answer that question," Shay spoke suddenly from behind Taehyung, her voice sounding small.
Yoongi glanced at Jin, who glanced at Emily then Hoseok and the chain continued until it ended at Namjoon. The earth gem bearer put on a tight smile and glanced at Shay, who gave a firm nod of understanding.
"Traveling across lightyears of space is extremely dangerous," Shay started. Taehyung was smiling at her fondly. "Without the special armor crafted by father himself, our molecules will implode."
"Uhm, what does that mean?," Jimin squeaked, his figure hidden behind Namjoon. Yoongi grimaced at how small he looked.
Shay stared at Jimin for a solid few seconds. Yoongi feared the possibility of the princess beaming his friend to death so when she spoke instead, he sighed in relief. "It means we die."
Jimin blinked. "Oh."
"Greta's forcefield function will keep us from exploding," Taehyung continued with his arms crossed over his chest. "It will be safer for us to travel that way."
"But," You spoke up. Yoongi noted the way Taehyung turned towards you instantly. "How did you know that the portal would open?"
Everyone glanced at Taehyung, who just shrugged. "Better be safe than sorry. Come, let's go."
Yoongi wondered what kind of scenario would have been born out of Greta crashing into the lab despite the portal being closed successfully. Still, the fire gem bearer knew that it was best to trust Taehyung's judgement.
"We've wasted enough time," Taehyung turned around and glanced up at Greta with a smile. "Let's go and save the universe."
-
Jungkook honestly didn't think this far ahead. Never in his life would the angel have considered the possibility of him and the wonders failing. So when he found out that Taehyung actually prepared for it, he couldn't help but be impressed.
Sure, Jungkook knew that Taehyung was the master of planning. Heck, he wouldn't even be surprised if the darkness gem bearer somehow already prepared his own wedding. But this was it, the icing on the cake— he actually prepared for failure.
Jungkook sat on the railings next to the captain's wheel. The angel swung his feet and stared ahead. Surrounding Greta was a swirling glitter of rainbow colors, a familiar colorful wormhole.
On the deck were both Chuu and Yves. The two were seated, holding hands as they gazed at the rainbow wormhole. Jungkook had asked Taehyung where the rest of LOONA was. The only reply got was that they were preparing. Strange.
"You know, Tae," Jungkook glanced behind with a small smile. "I honestly thought space travel would be instantaneous, yeah?"
"Don't you remember how we traveled to Earth before, Kook?," Taehyung was leaning on the captain's wheel. He wore a boxy grin. "It took weeks."
"Right," For a moment, Jungkook wondered what it was like to be Taehyung. He thought of what it was like to run to another planet to save your own. "You used the portal that lead to Egypt, yeah? How'd you even find it?"
Taehyung slapped his lips together. Jungkook observed the way he positioned himself, the way his arms were lazily placed on top of one another— lax, free. He was slouching too. To the angel, it was weird to see one of the most uptight people he knew look so... relaxed.
"I thought you used the same portal as me," Taehyung replied a bit dismissively.
Jungkook hummed and folded his wings. "Nah. I traveled with the permission from Hemel's council and left from my kingdom."
Taehyung didn't say anything for a few seconds. Jungkook was struck by the amused expression on the darkness gem bearer's face. It made the Hemelian prince wonder what he was thinking.
"I see," Taehyung straightened his back, his darkness gem glowing a deep shade of purple. "So they were right."
Jungkook tilted his head. He turned around until he was completely facing Taehyung, soles slightly scraping the floorboards of the captain's deck. "Who were?"
"The Helian scientists," Taehyung walked around until he was standing next to Jungkook, his gaze straight ahead. "They discovered the phenomenon of portals appearing in random parts of Vrede."
Jungkook tilted his head. He swung his feet and paused when his heel hit the railings. "So there are two portals?"
"Not just two, countless," Taehyung answered. He faced Jungkook with a stoic expression. "Where exactly was your portal?"
Jungkook chewed his bottom lip and fell into deep thought. "Uhm, there was this tree in the palace backyard. Had to walk right through. Pretty weird, yeah?"
Taehyung chuckled. "Mine was in a cave in the deep forest of Aarde. Miss Mathilde pointed me to it. Where'd you end up?"
Ah, that explained their connection. Jungkook wanted to ask how exactly Taehyung met Mathilde but there were other things he was more curious about. After all, there were a lot more conversations to look forward to.
Jungkook smiled. He hopped to his feet and stood in front of the captain's wheel. The angel ran his fingertips down the smooth garnished wood.
"Bathroom."
"What?"
"I ended up in some bathroom in England," Jungkook's cheeks flared as he huffed. The wings on his head tucked under his blonde hair.
Taehyung was silent. Then, after a few embarrassing seconds (for Jungkook), he bursted out in loud laughter. Hemel's prince stared as the darkness gem bearer bent over and clutched his stomach.
"You," Taehyung was wheezing in between his laughter. "You spent the first few seconds on a whole other planet lightyears away from Vrede— in a bathroom?"
"Stop laughing, Tae!," Jungkook screamed through his own laughter.
At that moment, Jungkook imagined a conversation between the present him and the him a few months prior. Surely the past him wouldn't have even thought that talking to Taehyung like this was still possible. The angel smiled to himself.
"Just shut up and tell me about the portal theory."
"Okay, okay," Taehyung shook his head and rubbed his nose with the back of his hand. His sudden shift in expression stunned Jungkook. "There was a study about certain inflection points creating holes in spacial planes and dimensions."
Jungkook blinked and kept his frozen smile. "Meaning?"
"Portals appear and disappear all over Vrede randomly," Taehyung explained and turned around to lean on the railings. "But somehow, for some reason, they always lead to Earth."
"If that's the case then why did King Michael have to create his own portal?," Jungkook tilted his head, his blonde fringe swaying as he did so.
Taehyung hummed again, almost as if he was impressed by Jungkook's question. "These portals never open in Hel. It's almost like the universe is against it."
"There is also the issue of travel time."
Hearing a third voice, Jungkook furrowed his eyebrows and glanced around. Taehyung followed. Next to the door leading to the bedrooms was Shay, who was leaning on the wall with her arms crossed over her chest. Behind her was a silently peaking General Jisoo.
"Contrary to the usual weeks it takes with the inflection points, this portal will only take us a few minutes," Shay paused and stared at Taehyung. The siblings made eye contact that was so intense it almost made Jungkook fly away. "The purple haired wonder is calling for you."
"Namjoon," Taehyung whispered underneath his breath. "Did he mention why?"
Shay shook her head slowly. "He only said to meet him and rest in the dining area."
Taehyung glanced at Jungkook, who just shrugged with a crooked grin on his face. He then faced Shay and smiled. "Thanks, sis. We'll be right there."
Shay nodded. Jungkook swore that he saw a small smile on the Helian princess' face before she disappeared in the doorway. Taehyung then cleared his throat and pulled a lever. A voiceover from the ship's control panel spoke and announced autopilot mode.
Taehyung cocked his head and walked into the doorway as well. Jungkook shuffled to his feet and tailed behind the darkness gem bearer, his wings folding behind as we did so.
When Jungkook entered the kitchen, he was slightly disappointed at the absence of food. The first person he noticed was Yoongi, who was sitting on one of the chairs and had his arms spread out across the table. Holly was curled on top of his head.
Across Yoongi was Jimin, who was sitting on the table. He was staring at the ground with a slight pout and swinging his legs. Jungkook couldn't help but smile a bit at how the thunder gem bearer's feet were far from reaching the floor.
Namjoon was sitting on a chair next to Jimin. Both of his elbows were on the table, hands clasped together in front of his mouth. With how the earth gem bearer's chin was stuck out, Jungkook could tell that he was in deep thought.
The remaining three were leaning on the wall in a row. Emily's eyes were closed but she was slowly strumming the string of her bow in a rhythm— a habit she had developed, Jungkook noted. Standing next to her was Jin, who was just rubbing the triple blades of his trident in between his fingers.
Your katana's blade was stabbed to the ground and you were just leaning on the handle in silence. Jungkook turned towards Taehyung and noticed the way he was staring. The darkness gem bearer looked like he was dying to talk to you.
Frustrated, Jungkook groaned and nudged Taehyung with his elbow. "Why are you hesitating? Just talk to her."
Taehyung licked his bottom lip and sighed. He leaned in close to Jungkook's ear and whispered. "I literally screamed that I love her. How am I going to spare myself from that embarrassment?"
Jungkook's eyes slowly widened as he stared at Taehyung. "Wait a minute, you wha—"
"I am sure you are all aware," Namjoon's voice boomed before Jungkook could finish his question. "Of what is about to happen."
A heavy silence fell. Jungkook swallowed dryly. He could feel the thick tension suffocating everyone in the room.
"I don't know how long we have until we arrive on Earth," Namjoon's chair squeaked as he stood up. Jimin stared up at him with sparkling eyes. "But I know one thing— the final battle is coming."
"Not to sound like a bitch," Yoongi suddenly raised his head, eyes resembling two slanted lines. Holly hummed. "But can we at least talk about what just happened?"
Jungkook figured that Yoongi was talking about what King Michael had done. Fighting against the darkness within themselves— the angel couldn't even imagine what it was like. At the same time, he wondered if he had a dark side, especially with him literally being a symbol of light.
"That's exactly why I called for this meeting, Yoongi," Namjoon smiled and showed off a dimpled grin. "To debrief everyone before the final battle."
"I'll be honest," Hoseok piped up. He was sitting on top of a silverware cabinet with crossed legs. Jungkook wondered why he didn't notice him at first. "I'm kind of glad that I got to beat myself up to some extent. It was relieving."
Everyone burst into laughter at that. Jungkook shook his head and the wings on his head flapped once. "Macht, Hoseok. You really know how to brighten the mood, yeah?"
Hoseok shrugged and winked playfully behind the lens of his goggles. "You're welcome."
"Hoseok," Namjoon suddenly spoke with a stern tone. Hoseok tilted his head at him. "You know, it's okay. It isn't your obligation to be so hopeful all the time."
Hoseok's smile immediately faded at that. Jungkook considered going through the air gem bearer's thoughts but he figured that it would be much better if he didn't.
"I appreciate your concern, Namjoon," Hoseok smiled, his tight lipped expression somewhat unfamiliar to Jungkook. "But this time, I really am happy."
Just to confirm it to himself, Jungkook went through Hoseok's thoughts. He was glad to see pure joy in the air gem bearer's mind, just like he said.
"I never actually knew I was thinking that way until I confronted those thoughts myself," Jimin squeaked. He was still swinging his legs, gaze fixated to the ground. "And I—"
"Don't dwell on it," Taehyung spoke from next to Jungkook, who glanced at him in surprise. "What's important is that you beat it. This goes for all of you."
Jungkook faced the team and watched as everyone's expressions slowly changed. There was a mixture of shock and confusion that crossed everyone but what the angel noted was the bright smile you had on your face.
"Listen," Taehyung leaned on the door, which made a slight creak at his weight. "We don't have much time. For all we know, we're a few seconds away from Earth."
Jungkook's wings flapped once. He could see the mixture of emotions in Taehyung's eyes— fear, sorrow... and maybe even a little bit of regret.
"This battle against Father's army might be our last," Taehyung's voice boomed, his confidence growing with each word. "And there are only two ways to end this. We win and save the world or—"
Taehyung came to an abrupt stop. Based on the dense expression on everyone's faces, Jungkook figured that the darkness gem bearer didn't need to finish the sentence.
"Losing is not an option," Taehyung continued, his eyes glowing a solid shade of purple. "We will fight. We will win. And—"
"I don't want this to end."
Jimin was still sitting on the table but this time his knees were folded against his chest. Hugging his legs, the thunder gem bearer's lips formed a pout as he squished his cheeks between his knees.
"As much as I want to finally stop this intergalactic war, I—," Jimin paused and sniffled. His eyes started to water. "I— I don't want this adventure to end. Spending all this time traveling the universe with everyone was something— special."
Jungkook's wings drooped sadly. He rubbed some of his feathers and sighed. The tension in the room thickened, is that was even a possibility.
"I've met such good people, made amazing friends," Jimin slowly turned towards Namjoon with a big smile, his eyes turning into crinkles. "And have found the love of my life."
Namjoon returned a dimpled smile as his cheeks flared into a deep red shade. Although Jungkook knew what was coming, he read the earth gem bearer's mind just for the heck of it— God, I love Jimin so much.
"And when this ends, we go our separate ways and rule our kingdoms," Jimin's lips trembled and he started to sob. "You guys are my family. I— I don't know what I'll do when I'm all alone again."
Jimin tucked his face in his knees. The thunder gem bearer's tiny sobs echoed across silent room. Jungkook chewed his bottom lip and glanced at Namjoon, who was staring at his lover with sorrowful eyes.
Namjoon slowly walked until he was standing next to Jimin. He then plopped his ass on the table and snaked an arm around the thunder gem bearer's waist.
"It's okay Jimin," Namjoon pulled Jimin closer, the thunder gem bearer nuzzling his head into the crook of his neck. "I'm pretty sure we all feel the same way, right guys?"
"Definitely," Jin chuckled. Jungkook noticed that he had glassy eyes yet wore a smile. "Honestly though... If I didn't have the responsibility of being Tranen's king, I'd prefer living with you all in one giant mansion instead."
"Sounds good to me!," Hoseok cheered and raised a hand in the air.
"God, is that such a dream," You glanced at Emily as the both of you giggled at the thought.
"I would love that so much," Jimin spoke in between sobs and nuzzled closer to Namjoon.
"I suggest something smaller than a mansion," Jungkook shrugged and folded his wings. "It is extremely difficult to manage and clean."
"I second that," Taehyung nodded next to Jungkook.
"I'm only in for the house," Yoongi lifted his head as Holly snapped its jaws. Everyone laughed at that.
"Seriously though, it sucks," Emily sighed and pulled an arrow from her quiver. She stared at the pointed head. "It's what we all want to do, a form of reward after all our efforts but... we can't. There are too many responsibilities in the way."
Jungkook thought about what would happen. With the knowledge of the current relationship between his parents, the prince wondered if his return would mark the start of his reign as Hemel's king. The mere thought sent a shiver down his spine.
Still, Jungkook knew it was inevitable. As afraid as he was to become king, he had no other choice. And when he does become Hemel's ruler, he just had to be good at it.
"I'm sorry."
Everyone turned towards Taehyung, who was glancing away and avoiding eye contact with the rest of the team. Jungkook was still slowly processing his words.
"Sorry?," Namjoon squinted his eyes. He stroked Jimin's orange hair. "For what?"
Taehyung licked his bottom lip. He was tapping his forearm in a strange rhythm. Jungkook could tell that the darkness gem bearer was unusually extremely nervous. It was an unfamiliar sight.
"I have not... properly apologized to everyone so...," Taehyung paused and inhaled sharply. He finally shifted his gaze to the team. "I'm sorry. For everything."
Jungkook stared at Taehyung's stern expression. Numerous emotions mixed from within the angel. He was proud, excited and afraid of what the darkness gem bearer was about to say.
"I'm sorry for having a shitty father who decided to invade and destroy an innocent planet."
Huh. Jungkook was itching to tell Taehyung that it wasn't his fault at all. Still, the expression on the darkness gem bearer's face told him not to speak.
"I'm sorry for being an inconsiderate bastard," Taehyung laughed dryly. "And for hurting every single person in this team."
Jungkook wanted to admit that what Taehyung just said was sort of true but even he knew that was something he should keep to himself. Still, he was glad that the darkness gem bearer was slowly opening up his shell.
Taehyung took a considerate pause. He pressed himself closer to the door he was already leaning on and sighed. "I'm sorry for doing things my way without looking back. Leaving you behind was not my intention."
Somehow, that last bit was strange to Jungkook. It was an oddly specific apology, seemingly catered to the team but to— Oh. The angel was struck with a realization. Makes sense.
"I'm sorry for destroying everyone's trust in me. I should have been more mindful of how you all felt," Taehyung crossed an arm over his chest and bowed deeply, his body folding in half. "It may be much but I simply ask for your forgiveness."
Jungkook stared at the still bowing Taehyung with wide eyes, in fact everyone did. Nobody said anything for a few painful minutes. The Hemelian himself did not know what to make of this situation.
Suddenly, a chair was pushed to the ground. Yoongi was standing up now, his grey strands fluttering as flames burned on his shoulders. His orange eyes twitched. Holly tilted its head at him.
Yoongi stomped towards Taehyung and left charred footprints on the ground with his burning soles. "Hey. You don't get it, do you?"
Taehyung blinked and looked up at Yoongi skeptically. Jungkook was itching to grab him by the collar so that he'd stop bowing.
"What you did may have hurt but you are our friend," Yoongi crossed his arms over his chest and huffed. Holly perched on his shoulders. "We all forgave you a long time ago."
Echoes of agreement rang from everyone. Jungkook took this as the cue and pulled Taehyung to his feet. The angel showed off a huge bunny grin and swung an arm over the Helian prince's shoulder.
"I'll be honest, yeah?," Jungkook laughed to himself. "I may have considered beating your ass at one point but you're my best bud. Nothing will change that."
Taehyung stared at Jungkook with a grateful smile and slowly snaked an arm up his back. The angel hummed as the darkness gem bearer rubbed circles on his shoulder.
I don't deserve you, Kook.
"Don't say that, Tae!," Jungkook chuckled. "I'm the one who doesn't deserve you, yeah?"
Taehyung frowned, eyebrows creased together. He gave Jungkook a questionable grin. "I didn't say anything."
"Eh?," Jungkook tilted his head and blinked. "But I heard you—"
At that moment, Jungkook came to a realization. Somehow, he heard Taehyung's thoughts, which was supposedly impossible because he couldn't read Helian minds.
"No way," Jungkook's breath hitched in his throat. Slowly, he whispered into Taehyung's. "I— think I heard your thoughts?"
Strangely enough, Taehyung didn't reply. Instead, he just stared. Jungkook wondered if he had the answer to his question or if he knew why his thoughts could suddenly be heard. Nobody said anything for a moment.
Then Hoseok jumped off the cabinet and landed gracefully on the ground. He raised both his arms in the air and showed off a heart shaped grin. "Group hug!"
It all happened so fast. Jungkook instinctively wrapped his arms around Taehyung as Hoseok flew towards them at an incredible speed. Then they were on the ground and there was an extremely heavy weight on top of him.
"What the hell?!," Yoongi's voice rumbled against Jungkook's thigh. "Hoseok said group hug not dog pile!"
"Sorry, that's my fault," Namjoon laughed from somewhere, Jungkook couldn't tell. "I kind of pushed."
"Joonie, you're squishing my face."
"Sorry, Chim."
"Ouch, my wings!"
"Who's groping my ass?!"
"Those were my goggles, hoe! I ain't groping nobody's ass!"
"Uhm, I don't think Sky is breathing right now."
After a few seconds of untangling limbs and accidental groping, everyone was back on their feet. Jungkook stretched his wings and ruffled his disheveled blonde hair. Taehyung, although looking extremely haggard, had a big smile on his face.
"I suggest we do this properly," Jin was rubbing his ass whilst glaring at a grinning Hoseok. "And Namjoon, no pushing."
"Alright, alright," Namjoon raised his hands in defeat and chuckled. "Let's all show Taehyung how we do a real group hug."
"Me? Why me—"
Before Taehyung could continue, Jungkook tackled him with a hug and squished their cheeks together. His wings folded around his best friend's figure. The Helian prince groaned.
"Group hug!"
In a flash, all the remaining seven members of the team were somehow embracing Taehyung. Jungkook continued to rub his cheek against the Helian's. The mixture of Yoongi's warmth and Jin's cool temperature was perfect.
"Wow, I really am going to miss you guys a lot," You muttered from in between Emily and Hoseok.
"Same here," Emily was clung onto Jin, her head resting on his (broad) shoulder. Jungkook wondered if she used the group hug as an excuse. "You guys are all annoyingly memorable."
Someone giggled. Jungkook thought nothing of it at first, thinking it was Jimin, then he realized that the person's voice was deep and rough. Wait what.
"Holy shticks," Yoongi gasped from Jin's other side with wide eyes. "Did Taehyung Bristene just giggle?"
"Sorry," Taehyung giggled again. Jungkook's mind was starting to shut down. "It's just... I'm happy."
"So am I!," Jimin wailed loudly, his tears streaming once again. Namjoon gave him a tighter hug.
Jungkook honestly wished this moment could last forever. He hoped that he could just embrace all his loved ones and forget all his responsibilities. It was a paradise he always dreamed of, the freedom he sought for.
Before Jungkook could say anything else, there was a literal change in the atmosphere. The air felt heavier and the Hemelian had to inhale deeply in order to breathe properly.
Then Greta shook violently for a few seconds and nearly knocked everyone off balance. Jungkook eyed the window in the kitchen. The sky was bright blue.
"W-What was that?," Hoseok stuttered, his expression suddenly shifting into one of fear.
Taehyung stopped giggling. He slipped away from the group hug and turned towards the door. Without a word, he grabbed the handle and swung it open.
Contrary to what Jungkook expected, Taehyung froze at the doorway. Confused, the angel wrapped his wings around his body and squeezed his way outside.
Jungkook looked down the hallway and was baffled with the emptiness. Then he followed Taehyung's gaze and spotted someone leaning on the wall next to the door.
Shay had her arms crossed over her chest, some strands of her dark hair falling just over her eyelashes. Her eyes were shut tight as she stood there silently. Next to her was General Jisoo, who was tightly gripping her electric staff with an awkward smile on her face.
Jungkook stared at Taehyung and observed the way he was staring at Shay. The angel wondered if she had been standing outside long enough to hear the Helian prince's apology.
"Brother," Shay spoke slowly. Her eyes fluttered open as she stared at Taehyung. "I think you should take a look outside."
Taehyung didn't say a word. He nodded and walked passed Shay. Jungkook spared a glance at the princess and tailed his friend.
The ship rocked and tilted from one side, nearly forming a ninety degree angle. Jungkook groaned when he slammed on the wall of the hallway, his shoulder pinning two of wings. Taehyung was the same and rubbed his back in pain.
"What the hell was that?!," Yoongi was upside down with his ass in the air. Holly was flying just over him. "Holly, wait! Don't prop on my ass with those sharp ass na—"
"Did we hit something?," Namjoon asked in worry as Yoongi shrieked. The still teary eyed Jimin clung tightly on his arm.
Again, Taehyung didn't answer. Instead he made a power walk up the stairs and literally slammed the door open with his body. A bit taken aback, Jungkook tailed him to the deck.
Jungkook squinted his eyes at the sudden brightness that poured. Once his vision adjusted, he gasped at the sight before him. Although Greta was protected by its forcefield, the continuous shots from the flying Helian warcrafts outside made the ship rock violently.
"Crowned Prince!," Chuu screamed from the captain's wheel as she spun it wildly. Yves screamed next to her. "We teleported right into the battlefield!"
A loud blast exploded from the right and made Jungkook's ears ring. The angel's wings folded instinctively. He faced the source of the blast and a part of the forcefield engulfed in flames. It looked dangerously close to falling apart.
"Why are we so high up?!," Emily screamed from the side. She stood way too close to where the explosion was.
"Emily, get away from there!," Jin shouted with his trident surfing on the ground towards him. "You might fall off!"
"Taehyung, what do we do?!," You hand raised over your face, the other gripping your katana, shield strapped to your back.
Jungkook stared at Taehyung, who whispered something under his breath and ran to the very front of the deck. "Tae, wait up!"
When Jungkook stopped running, he was standing next to Taehyung and along with him, was looking down from the edge of the railings. The angel gulped at the chaos at the bottom, at the Helian army destroying Seoul.
Jungkook faced Taehyung, who looked extremely saddened at the war brought onto Earth by King Michael. He felt bad for the darkness gem bearer. None of this was his fault at all.
"The forcefield is breaking!," Hoseok shrieked just as a hole formed in the forcefield. Strong wind blew inside. "It won't hold!"
Taehyung gripped his snakehead staff tightly. He turned around as another explosion came from under Greta. The ship shook again and this time Jungkook could see a bit of smoke start to fill the air.
"Chuu! Yves!," Taehyung screamed through the noise. "Make sure you land somewhere away from the civilians!"
"Tae, what are you saying?!," Jungkook flinched when the ship tilted forward. His wings flapped violently and he was almost thrown off. "Greta will crash!"
"I know," Taehyung spoke softly. "It's inevitable."
Jungkook could see the pure sorrow written all over Taehyung's face. The Hemelian prince then remembered that Greta was made with the help of Queen Loriza. It was one of the only things he had left that belonged to his mother.
"Tae, we can still save—"
"If mother was here, this is what she'd do," Taehyung deadpanned and clenched his teeth.
Jungkook honestly didn't know. He really didn't get to know Queen Loriza that well. But this was Taehyung's mother, whom the darkness gem bearer for so long. He was impressed at his strength, at how he was willing to let it all go.
"Everyone, get over here!," Taehyung screamed and immediately masked his sorrow with a fierce expression. "Now!"
Without hesitation, everyone shuffled towards Taehyung and Jungkook. Namjoon spoke, his face coated with his own sweat. "Got a plan?"
"I do," Taehyung nodded once. The dark strands of his hair fluttered in the wind. "But you won't like it."
Jungkook watched in shock as Taehyung stepped over the railings and hung right at the edge. Only a third of soles were actually stepping on something. The angel felt like he was about to have cardiac arrest.
"Tae, what in Macht's name are you—"
Another explosion. Greta tipped again and Taehyung fell out of Jungkook's view. Thankfully, the darkness gem bearer used his snakehead staff to hang himself just at the edge of the railings.
"Okay," Taehyung's eyes were wide in both shock and fear. His knuckles whitened as he gripped his staff. "Those who can fly, stay alert and make sure to catch the others."
"Oh no," Jin croaked as his lips trembled. "Are you suggesting what I think you are?"
"Unfortunately," Taehyung turned to the high drop. Jungkook saw him release a sharp breath. "We're going to have to jump."
Hoseok looked like he was about to protest but he zipped his lips instead. Jungkook figured that the air gem bearer realized that he, who could fly, had no right to complain about jumping from a hundred feet in the sky.
Another explosion rang and this time, Jungkook could feel Greta literally shut down. The air was shooting upwards and they were starting to fall.
"Everyone, get on the railings now!"
Although hesitant, everyone followed and hung at the edge of the railings. Jungkook thought it was ironic that he felt a bit nervous, especially how much flying stunts he had done all his life.
"Hey," Yoongi called from next to Jungkook. Holly was perched on his shoulder. "If you can survive almost dying then you can survive anything."
Jungkook smiled. He nodded at Yoongi, who gave him a big gummy grin of reassurance. Somehow, those few words made his heart feel calmer.
Taehyung looked deep in thought. He glanced behind the driving Chuu and panicking Yves before releasing a loud sigh. Then he glanced at Shay, who was hanging at the edge of the railings as well with a very nauseous General Jisoo next to her. Jungkook wondered why the princess had been silent all this time.
"Jungkook," Taehyung spoke with a soft tone, almost like his voice would shatter any second. "I'll meet you in the battlefield."
"What?," Jungkook blinked as Taehyung jumped back on deck. "Tae, what are you doing?!"
"Chuu, Yves, jump with the others," Taehyung snatched the captain's wheel and pulled the lever as the two Helian women stared at him. "Leave Greta to me."
"Brother, do not be foolish!," Shay hissed loudly. The wind was blowing her dark hair all over the place. "Staying with Greta as she crashes— We are not leaving you behind!"
"Do you really think I'll let anything happen to me, sis?," Taehyung chuckled and tapped his staff over his shoulder. "I'll be fine."
Shay actually looked like she was going to burst into tears but she looked away instead. Jungkook himself felt his chest tighten as he watched Taehyung grip the captain's wheel. Although the angel was against it, he knew that there was nothing he could do to change the darkness gem bearer's mind.
"Tae?," Jungkook put on a small grin. "See you soon, yeah?"
"See you later, Kook," Taehyung smiled just as one big explosion rang from right above them. The Helian prince growled. "Jump! Now!"
Jungkook sucked in a breath and quickly glanced at everyone else. It was obvious that they all hated the idea of leaving Taehyung behind but at the same time, nobody had anything to say against.
"He'll be fine," Jungkook sighed and shut his eyes. He hoped everyone could hear him. "We all trust him, don't we?"
Jungkook didn't know if anyone replied to him or not. The angel exhaled slowly before he let go of Greta's railings. As flames started to engulf the ship's body, the Hemelian prince spread his wings.
