7. Awake

"One down, six to go."

-

"So, what you're saying is that there's a whole other planet that can sustain life out there in space?"

You were currently patching up Yoongi's broken arm, after he lead you to an abandoned building, the place he had accustomed to calling home. You had spent hours telling him everything, about K, you being the guardian and the seven wonders.

"Is that the only thing you picked up from my explanation?," You said with a sigh as you finished bandaging Yoongi's arm. You clasped your hands together and sprawled on the bed, feeling extremely tired after what just happened.

"...Sorta," Yoongi sighed and pulled off his beanie before ruffling his own hair. He then glanced at his gem once more, still surprised by how it was... out of this world. "Yeah."

You smiled a bit as you stared at the ceiling, glad that you were finally able to find a wonder after weeks. However, you had no idea where to go next. Who were the other wonders? Where will you find them? Just these thoughts already made you stressed out.

"Have you found any other wonders?," Yoongi suddenly said, snapping you out of your thoughts. He was sitting on the bed, hugging his knees to his chest, and there was a fireball floating on his palm, his glowing orange for a few seconds. It served as the only source of heat in the cold and damp room.

You raised an eyebrow at Yoongi, surprised by how he looked so used to his powers. You then shrugged, thinking that it was a natural instinct that was gained after the gem's activation. "I haven't. Actually, I met one of them before, but back then I didn't know anything about the seven wonders or me being a guardian."

"You've met one?," With a flick of a wrist, Yoongi's fireball was gone and now he was staring at you through his grey bangs. "What did he look like?"

You stared back. "How did you know it was a he?"

There was a moment of silence before Yoongi answered with a shrug: "Just a hunch."

"Well, you were right," You sat up, completely missing the fact that Yoongi was lying. "Now that I think about it, I can say that he's the bearer of the gem of darkness. I can't really describe his face though, since he always hides it under that hood of his."

Yoongi gulped, confirming that the person who saved him really was another wonder. He started to sweat once he remembered the overwhelming power that came from the gem of darkness. What sort of power did he have? Just thinking about it terrified him.

At the same time, Yoongi was having an internal war with himself. What should he say? He knew that finding another wonder was extremely important but he was also conflicted by his words.

"Also, don't tell Sky that I paid you a visit."

It was obvious that he and Sky have met before and Yoongi didn't know why he hadn't caught onto it sooner. Then, he realized that he didn't even know the bearer's name, so saying that he did meet him would make no difference. To him, it was a win-win situation.

Yoongi didn't know how wrong he was.

"Sorry, I haven't...," Yoongi trailed off and chewed on his lip, feeling a bit guilty for lying to you.

"Oh, really?," You sighed, glancing at your watch, which wasn't glowing around Yoongi anymore. Through this, you knew that it would only glow around a wonder who hasn't activated his gem yet. "That's too bad."

As Yoongi drowned in his own guilt, a loud growling noise rang through the room, making both of you alert. You looked down and blushed after realizing that it was your stomach.

Yoongi caught your glance and smirked a bit at your flustered state. "When was the last time you ate?"

"A few days ago...," You looked away in embarrassment, trying your best to hide your flushed face.

Yoongi then frowned, realizing how serious the situation was. He stood up and brushed the dust off his jeans. "Well, that isn't good. We should get you something to eat before you pass out because of hunger."

"How?," You were still on the bed, your silver hair loose, and sighed deeply. You would admit that you've been hungry for a while now. "We don't have any money."

"It's simple, Cloud," Yoongi said with a grin and you could see a sinister gleam in his eyes. "We steal."

"Yoongi, we are not stealing," You said with a glare, a bit triggered when Yoongi called you Cloud, after you remembered how he smoothly stole your watch.

"How do you think did I survive here without any money?," Yoongi said with a chuckle and put on his beanie. He knelt down and tied his shoe laces while giving you a glance. "Stealing was my way to survive. Besides, if it's against your morals, I'll do it. You can just be a distraction. If you don't want me to... well, I'm not bringing you to the hospital."

You hated how Yoongi was right so you scoffed as you followed him out the door.

-

"Steal, you said," You shouted angrily as you sprinted, nearly losing your breath. "It was okay, you said!"

"Oh shut up, Cloud!," Yoongi was pulling you by the arm, the sirens of the police car echoing behind the two of you. "How would I know that some policemen would stop by the bakery?!"

The plan was simple. You would enter the bakery and talk to the owner, pretending to be a student looking for a part time job. Yoongi, on the other hand, would enter through the back window, stuff some pastries in a sack and leave without a trace. Your interview would end exactly when Yoongi was gone, since you obviously didn't have tbe requirements to work.

It would have been simple, if the baker didn't recognize you as the girl on the watch list. It would have been simple if the baker's wife wasn't in the kitchen with a gun in hand, catching Yoongi in the act. It would have been simple if the bakery wasn't the local policemen's favorite.

"How did he even recognize you when you hid your silver ha---"

"This is no time for ranting, Yoongi!," You said while taking deep breaths. There was absolutely no way that you and Yoongi would outrun the police cars by foot, so they were getting closer.

Yoongi glanced at the sidewalk and saw some skaters, recognizing them as those he befriended a few days. Still pulling you with him, he tackled one of the skaters to the ground and snatched the skateboard.

Since it all happened too quickly, you weren't able to say anything. The next thing you knew, Yoongi was riding the skateboard while carrying you on his back.

"What are you doing?!," You hissed as you held onto Yoongi, struggling to keep yourself balanced.

Yoongi wobbled a bit because of how you kept moving, almost running straight into a pole. "Stay still or we'll both fall! You and I know that running won't do us any good so hold on."

Yoongi skated with ease, swerving to dodge the people and the cars on the road. You were struck with awe by how skilled he was and you honestly felt like you were in the middle of race. Actually... you were.

Gunfire started and you tucked your head into Yoongi's shoulder to hopefully dodge the bullets. You could hear the policemen shouting at the two of you to stop and surrender.

"Are they crazy?!," You shrieked when more bullets started to fly in the air. "What if they hit a civilian?!"

"...I guess it can't be helped," Yoongi clicked his tongue and opened his palm, flames coating his hand. His gem glowed as his eyes slowly turned bright orange.

"Yoongi... what are you planning to do?," You raised your voice a bit because of the noise and stared at Yoongi's flames with wide eyes. You knew that you should be used to his powers by now but it still surprised you every time.

"Duck," Yoongi said and you instantly followed. He shot out a pillar of fire from his hands, surrounding both of you from the sides and back. "We obviously can't defend ourselves, so this is the plan. If my flames are hot enough then maybe, just maybe, they'll be able to disintegrate the bullets before they reach us or anybody else."

You knew that the plan was working, since the gunfire became more silent compared to before. You stared at the wall of fire behind you and smirked. Yoongi was smart, which honestly wasn't what you expected from him.

"Are you sure about this?," You said with worry, realizing that there was a possibility that Yoongi would get shot.

"I'm not," Yoongi said slowly.

"Plan B?"

"There isn't one."

You stayed silent as you listened to your surroundings. After you became a guardian, your senses sharpened. You could hear the crackling of Yoongi's flames, the panic screams from the civilians and the orders that the policemen were throwing at each other.

You did your best to listen closely to the policemen and you were able to make out one sentence: "Aim for the legs!"

"Yoo---"

Too late. Yoongi was shot right below the knee, causing him to shriek in pain and lose his balance on the skateboard, the flames disappearing as he did. The two of you rolled on the ground for a while before stopping right at the edge of a lake, almost falling in.

You grunted a bit and felt your cheek sting, knowing that you had a scratch. You crawled towards Yoongi, who was about a foot away from you and was clutching his leg pain.

"Yoongi!," You inspected his wound a bit and winced a bit at the amount of blood. You had no experience when it came to first aid, so you pulled your own haur in frustration. "Uh, damn it, just put pressure on it, okay?"

"Freeze!"

The policemen were now surrounding you both, guns pointed at the two of you from all directions. You gritted your teeth, trying to think of a way to escape. The last thing you wanted was you and Yoongi going to jail.

Yoongi slowly raised his arms, which made you side-eye him. "What are you doing?"

"Just follow me, Sky," Yoongi said and you noticed that his eyes were still bright orange. You smiled a bit when he finally got your name right and raised both of your arms with him.

Right when the policemen put down their weapons, flames came out of Yoongi's palms, creating yet another wall of fire. There were screams from the other side, both from the civilians and the policemen.

You remembered the lake behind you, a lightbulb sparking above your head. You looked at Yoongi and pointed at it. "We have to jump! It's the only way out."

Yoongi clutched your arm, his eyes back to normal, and lightly shook his head at you. "...I'm not good with water."

"What do you mean? Because of your gem?"

"I never learned how to swim."

You couldn't believe what you just heard. Obviously, Yoongi not knowing how to swim was connected to him being the bearer of the fire gem, but the current circumstances just ticked you off. Although, Yoongi wasn't to blame.

Just when you decided to surrender, there was the sound of an engine, then something pierced through the flames and glided in front of you and Yoongi. You coughed a bit because of the smoke and opened your eyes, which widened after you realized what was in front of you.

There was a man on a jet black motorcycle. He was wearing an expensive looking leather jacket paired with tight leather pants, his face partly covered by his white face mask and helmet. You could only see his doe eyes and the tips of his bright blonde bangs, which reminded you of cheese puffs because you were still hungry.

"Hop on," The man cocked his head towards the empty space behind him, his voice soft compared to Yoongi's.

You glanced at Yoongi, silently asking for his approval. Once he nodded, you helped him up and sat behind the man. You weren't sure about the stranger and why he was doing this but it was the only way to get out of the current situation you both were in.

"Hold on tight," The man started the engine and drove off, leaving behind the policemen and the wall of fire. You were a bit taken aback by how fast the motorcycle was but you were glad that nobody was going to jail.

Since Yoongi was at risk of falling off because of his injured leg, he sat in between you and the man. Although, honestly, Yoongi wanted you to take his place so you would be safer.

You were a bit confused when the man parked in front of a gate that was ten times taller than you, especially because you felt like the travel time only lasted for a few minutes. Yoongi, in particular, had sparkling eyes as he stared at the golden gate.

The man glanced at you and Yoongi, silently ordering you both to stay where you are, before he stepped down and walked towards the gate. On the decorated stone pillar was a small boxed speaker, a red button on its metal body.

After a few seconds of staring at the button, the man unstrapped his helmet and pulled it off his head. He inhaled deeply after taking off his mask and your eyes widened at his features.

You were right about the man's blonde hair, except that the roots were black. He had clear milky white skin, obviously pampered, and had a pair of thick, pink lips. He looked familiar to you for some reason and only one word could be used to describe him: Flawless.

The man ruffled his own hair and pressed the button. "Sam, let us in."

"Welcome back, Master," A voice came from the speaker after a buzz. "Who are your companions?"

You noticed that Yoongi was staring at something above, so you followed his gaze. At the top right corner of the gate was a camera, staring down at both you and Yoongi with intimidation. You shivered at the thought of being watched.

"I told you not to call me Master, Sam," The man glanced at the two of you, giving you a better look at his face. He was definitely one of the most handsome men you've seen, compared to the potatoes in the orphanage. "They're... visitors."

"...I understand, Master," You swore that you heard a giggle from the speaker before it was shut off but you weren't so sure yourself.

The man chuckled, amused by how childish his butler was, before the gate slowly opened, its loud metal clangs ringing throughout the area.

"Cloud, your watch," Yoongi managed to whisper to you before the man hopped back on the motorcycle and ignited the engine once more.

You frowned a bit at being called Cloud again, then you glanced at your watch, which was glowing and it wasn't because of Yoongi. You stared at the blonde head in front of you, amazed by how you ran into another wonder almost instantly after finding Yoongi.

However, this confused you, since you didn't see any gem on the man. Was the watch malfunctioning? Or maybe the gem was just hidden?

The motorcycle circled around a beautiful fountain in the middle of a garden, before finally arriving in front of the mansion's main entrance. The lot was so big that looking around already made you dizzy. Even Yoongi looked a bit fazed by what he was seeing right now.

The blonde man walked towards the door, you and Yoongi following him like ducklings. There was another person standing next to the entrance and he was wearing a butler's suit. He looked young, way too young to be a butler, and his black hair wasn't even styled, as if he woke up from an afternoon nap.

"Welcome back, Master," The butler, who you just recalled was Sam, said and bowed at the blonde man. He then turned towards you and Yoongi and bowed as well. "Master's acquaintances."

You bowed back awkwardly, Yoongi forced to follow you since you were helping him walk.

"Sam, take this young man to the infirmary," The blonde man said, the butler nodding before stepping towards you both. You were amazed by how this man had an infirmary in his own house. "He seems to have an injured leg. Treat it well."

The butler politely asked Yoongi to come with him, but the latter wouldn't let go of you no matter what was said. You raised an eyebrow at the scenario, feeling like a mother with an extremely clingy son.

"It will be fine, Yoongi," You whispered at the said boy as he stared at you with unsure eyes. "Trust me."

There was a silence before Yoongi nodded. He let go of you as the butler assisted him. He glanced at you with an unreadable expression before he and butler disappeared through the door.

You turned around and saw the blonde man staring at you with a smile, which surprised you to the point of nearly having a heart attack. You then looked down and saw him offering his hand.

"It's a gentleman's duty to guide a lady through his personal quarters," He stated before you could say anything and you guessed that confusion was written all over your face. You held his hand, his words making your head spin. He was way too polite.

Right at the moment the man squeezed your hand and guided you through the long red hallway and up the stairs, you saw something dangling from his neck. You had no idea why you didn't notice it before.

It was a necklace with a long silver chain, the gem being supported by silver swirls, giving it the illusion of levitation. It was dull, grey, like how Yoongi's gem was previously.

Confirmed. This man was another wonder.

You were snapped back to reality when you heard the creaking of a door. The man was smiling at you once again and the door he had just opened was the entrance to a master bedroom.

You stepped inside, awe obvious in your expression as you looked around. The room was almost as big as the orphanage's cafeteria, the color theme being beige, and the bed at the center being queen sized. You stared at the huge television, which seemed four times wider than you.

"This will be your room for the meantime," The man said behind you, a small smile on his face as he watched you gape in amazement. "Your friend, Yoongi was it? He will stay in the guest room across yours."

Your smile faded when you realized that Yoongi was going to have a smaller room. You turned around and faced the blonde man, who just cocked his head at you. "Actually, mister, I think it would be better to give Yoongi this room, since he needs to recover from his injury and... he deserves it much more than I do. I will be okay with the guest room, really."

The man chuckled, both his hands behind his back, and slowly stepped towards. He leaned in a bit, causing you to blush because of how close his flawless face was, which made you a bit insecure because of the height difference. How tall was this guy?

"Your generosity is endearing, Miss...?"

"Sky," You moved backwards, a bit uncomfortable by the close distance. "Just Sky. Uh, not to be rude but who are you?"

The man's smile faded, then he shook his head before he mumbled something to himself. You stared at him, a bit frightened by his actions.

After a few seconds of muttering, the man stepped back a convenient distance before bowing deeply, almost ninety degrees, which made you stare at him again.

Why was he acting like some kind of prince? Well, he does look like one...

"I deeply apologize for not introducing myself earlier, Sky," The man bowed again, then he looked back up at you with a genuine smile on his face. "My name is Kim Seokjin but I prefer to be called Jin."
