55. Vlam
"Yoongi, that's enough alcohol for one night," Jin said when he noticed Yoongi reaching out for the almost empty bottle of Vredeian vodka, the intense smell making him scrunch his nose. He was silent as the fire gem bearer let out a loud giggle while leaning on his seat, face flushed red.
"Come on, Jinnie!," Yoongi chortled while swinging his glass around, Jin frowning at the nickname. He let out a hiccup before reaching for the bottle again, the water gem bearer snatching it away before it could be taken. This resulted in a pout from the grey haired man, his slanted eyes begging. "Just one more?"
Since Jin had already experienced moody drunks like Yoongi before through Ross, he knew exactly how to handle the situation. Placing the bottle somewhere far away, he sighed loudly before dragging a chair and plopping his ass on it. He cupped his cheeks with both of his hands before mirroring the pout on the fire gem bearer's face. The ultimate strategy was to act like them. "Yoongichi, you've had too much to drink. If you keep drinking, Min Liver will go boom boom."
"Don't talk to me like I'm a fucking kid," Yoongi hissed with a loud whine whilst Jin kept the pout, still hoping that it would work. The younger boy then slammed his head on the table, nearly knocking off the other glasses, and groaned loudly. "I just want to die."
Jin really didn't know how to reply to that so while Yoongi continued to groan, he scanned the room, which looked like it was hit by a storm. Pillows were scattered across the floor, along with some empty glasses and clothes that belonged to Jungkook. He noted how all the shirts had holes in the back now for his wings and it looked snipped. Namjoon was snoring loudly on the bed, his arms and legs tangled around a very passed out Jimin whose face was hidden in the taller's chest.
Yoongi continued to slam his head on the table, making Jin face him in concern. Sighing loudly, he carefully slid his hand at the right moment so that the fire gem bearer was hitting his palm instead. Of course, this made him stop. There was silence, neither of them moving or speaking, until the door slowly creaked open.
"Are they still asleep?," Jungkook whispered as he peeked into the room, smiling a bit when he saw Jimin and Namjoon cuddling on his bed. Jin wondered where the angel would be sleeping for the night, earning a frown from the Hemelian. "I guess the floor is my only option then."
Jin nodded with a small laugh and noticed that Yoongi wasn't moving at all, almost like he was dead. He stood up and pulled the fire gem bearer backwards by the forehead only to discover that he was half-asleep, one eye peeking open. "Yoongi and I are going to settle down, too—"
"Nope, nu-uh, no settling down for this hot ass," Yoongi hiccuped while pointing at himself, sending Jin a smirk. He thumped at his own chest, words completely slurred as he swayed back and forth. "This chili pepper is going to last the entire ni—"
And at that exact moment, Yoongi slumped on the table again, this time fully losing any ability to move. Jin shook his head and placed the shorter male's arms around his shoulders before picking him up by his thighs, carrying him piggyback style. He could feel the other's hair tickling his cheeks. "Sorry about not being able to help out with this mess, Jungkook."
"It's fine," Jungkook shrugged while picking up the clothes and tossing them to the corner of the room, only leaving a single pillow on the floor. He knelt down on the ground and fluffed his pillow, wings mimicking it by flapping slowly. "Despite my background, I'm not that neat of a person myself."
Jin didn't question what this background was because he felt like it wasn't the time to do so. Instead, he nodded at Jungkook and used water to open the door before stepping out of the room. He quietly closed the door behind him and walked across the empty hallway, seeing the reflection of the night sky through the window at the edge of the hall.
The sound of Jin's footsteps was disturbed by a loud grunt from Yoongi, who dug his face into the water gem bearer's nape and mumbled something along the lines of shoulders so broad just like the Pacific Ocean.
Jin was started to feel vert comfortable at how touchy Yoongi was being so he slapped the door with his shoulder to enter his room and gently placed the grey haired man on his bed, intent on sleeping on the floor as well. After tucking the younger in, he took quiet steps towards the door to close it and heard a voice as soon as the lock clicked.
"Seokjinnie," Yoongi called from underneath the sheets, only his grey hair sticking out. Jin stared at him and saw his shoulders trembling as light sobs rang in the room. Even though this was a faze of being a moody drunk, he somehow knew that there was something else behind this behavior. "Can we talk?"
Jin stared at Yoongi for a moment and even though they weren't making eye contact, he knew how much the younger needed him at the moment, especially during his emotional drunk state. So, he sat on a stool next to the bed in silence. "Of course we can, Yoongi. I'm your friend. I'll listen."
Yoongi finally pulled down the sheets, revealing his puffy red eyes and tear-stained cheeks, Jin's heart aching at the sight. He could see the younger boy doing his best to control his expression, even though his nose was starting to scrunch due to his sobs. He ended up covering half of his face with the sheets and the water gem bearer wondered if he'll get to see this behavior from sober Yoongi.
"I hate myself," Yoongi whispered, Jin barely hearing his choked up words. He was looking away, preventing any sort of eye contact with the older. "For... feeling all these things even though I don't want to. I hate myself for ruining the one thing that was keeping me together, for letting the love of my life slip away from me just like that. All my life, I've been told by my mother that the only talent I had was ruining everything. Maybe she was right, you know?"
There was a silence as Yoongi sobbed quietly, his button nose turning into a light shade of red. Jin had an idea of what kind of situation his friend was currently in. Of course, he didn't like assuming but seemed close enough. He didn't want to say it in words but since he knew how difficult it was to suffer from trauma, he had to blink consecutively to prevent himself from shedding any tears. There were differer kinds of trauma and different ways of adapting to it and even though he still hadn't figured out Yoongi's situation fully, he was willing to help in any way possible.
Yoongi turned to his side and faced away from Jin, who no longer questioned this behavior. The water gem bearer stared at the other's messy bed of grey hair for a few seconds before he spoke again. "I hate myself for crying like this, even though I told myself so many times that I shouldn't. I hate myself for being weak, for thinking that I could be strong even though... even though I can't. I can't figure out if I'm fucking mad or fucking sad but... what I know is... I don't have the right to feel this way."
"Yoongi, don't say that," Jin held Yoongi's shoulder and was a bit stunned when the latter flinched at the touch at first before ultimately calming down. "You have every right to feel hurt. You loved Sky so much—"
"Love," Yoongi corrected softly, which silenced Jin for a moment.
It took a moment for Jin to gather the composure to speak again, Yoongi trembling lightly under his touch. "Like I said, you have every right to be hurt. Because you were and you are hurting. But... you should know that you deserved to be loved. You deserve to be happy, even though you're not happy right now."
There was a silence until Yoongi finally turned back around, his eyes red and swollen. Jin retracted his hand but paused when the fire gem bearer grabbed his wrist before speaking softly against the covers, voice muffled. "You really think so?"
"I do, Yoongi," Jin said with a smile and returned the grip on Yoongi's hand. "I really do."
Yoongi stared up at Jin for a while, his lips pouted slightly until he released a small smile. Closing his eyes, he nuzzled his cheek into the pillow, tightening his grip on Jin's hand before breathing out slowly. "Thank you."
No more words came from Yoongi and Jin realized that he had fallen straight to sleep when his chest started rising and falling in a slow pattern. The blonde man used his free hand to fix his friend's blanket before arranging the chair he was sitting on so he could sleep on it comfortably. He wasn't going to let go of Yoongi's hand.
Jin yawned loudly and pressed his chin on the chair's headrest, his eyelids turning heavy. He noted how Yoongi's hand was warm, clashing with his cold temperature but even though they contrasted, it mixed well perfectly. The last thing he saw was the sleeping face of his closest friend before falling asleep completely.
-
Yoongi felt like someone was drilling his brain the moment he woke up. Groaning loudly, he tossed and turned in bed and rubbed his throbbing forehead with his hand. He was about to stretch his arms but paused when his other hand was held back by a force. Turning to his side, it took a while for him to process what he was looking at.
Jin yawned loudly as he slowly woke up and used his free hand to rub his eyes. Yoongi stared as he his eyes opened oh so carefully, his elbow resting on the headrest of the chair for support. When the water gem bearer noticed the other staring at him, he released a small smile. "Morning, Yoongichi. Did you sleep well?"
Yoongichi? Yoongi glanced at Jin, then back at their intertwined hands, his brain seemingly rebooting before he realized what was going on. At that moment, he had a major flashback of last night's drinking party and remembered parts of what happened before he fell asleep. Of course, he felt a strong mixture of shock and embarrassment but before he could scream in anger, he was hit by yet another splitting headache.
"Ugh, my head," Yoongi groaned, finally slipping his hand from Jin's to rub his temples.
"You drank a lot last night. Thank God, I was actually able to stop you before you could poison yourself," Jin stood up while ruffling his blonde hair and Yoongi couldn't help but notice the older's slim waist to broad shoulder ratio. "I didn't know you were the talkative kind of drunk. You kept blabbering about—"
"Thank you," Yoongi whispered through the pain, silencing Jin. He turned away, not having the courage to face the water gem bearer after the events that had occurred last night. He couldn't believe that he had opened up during his drunken state but despite how uncomfortable the idea was... he was actually glad he did. "...For last night. Thank you for listening."
Jin didn't say anything and just stared at Yoongi, who wondered if he had said anything wrong. However, what he least expected was for the blonde to laugh lightly while shaking his head. "There's no need to thank me, Yoongi. Like I said last night, I'm your friend."
Yoongi decided not to reply to that and got up from his head, not having much control over his balance due to his throbbing head. He stumbled out of the room, leaving behind a now topless Jin, and made his way to the kitchen. As he thought about how to get rid of his headache and what to do about opening up during his drunken state, a door suddenly opened and nearly slammed him in the face.
Since Yoongi felt like his brain was being splitting in half, he didn't say anything about the sight of Jimin running out of the room and slamming straight into the wall. There was a small blood stain on the wallpaper as the thunder gem bearer fell to the ground while clutching his bleeding nose. "Ouch."
"I fail to understand how your so called drinking habits spawned good results, Jimin," Jungkook peered from the room, grabbing the doorknob as he stared at Jimin, who was still laying on the floor in pain. The angel's round eyes were filled with innocence. "Are you alright?"
"Yeah," Jimin answered with a nasal tone, the pupils of his eyes slightly dilated. Yoongi could hear deep groans coming from inside Jungkook's room and it didn't take a genius to figure out that it was Namjoon who was crying like a whale. Jungkook was still staring down. "I may have broken my noise and may be suffering from internal bleeding or a bad concussion, not to mention that I feel like someone is axing my skull, but I'm absolutely fine!"
Jungkook smiled with his big bunny teeth, wings flapping a bit behind him. "That's good to know."
Before Yoongi could say anything else, Jin appeared behind him and announced that he was going to make breakfast. Emily then came out of her and your shared room with a smile, ready to assist her boyfriend. Soon, everyone except Taehyung was seated at the table, awaiting the food.
Yoongi scanned around, watching every person while trying to deal with his headache. Jimin was given an ice pack by Emily and was using it on his swollen forehead, his broken nose now completely healed, although he still looked like he was dying in his seat. Namjoon had his face planted on his empty plate, his loud groans of pain filling everyone's ears. Jungkook was staring at his fellow Single Men Club members with arched eyebrows while chewing on his bottom lip. Hoseok was drumming his fingers on the table in a rhythm, looking torn whether to crack a joke to break the silence or not. Jin and Emily were in the kitchen, which was strangely silent for two people cooking.
And of course, Yoongi tried his best to be sneaky as he glanced at your sleepy figure. You had your chin resting on your hand, eyes slowly fluttering closed before shooting back open due to any small noise that would stun you awake. He laughed under his breath at your cuteness and it didn't help that the silence falling over the table made him focus more on your beautiful figure.
But the fact that Yoongi could no longer announce your beauty out loud with pride made his heart ache.
"What's taking them so long?," Hoseok mumbled to himself as he slowly stood up and trekked to the kitchen whilst scratching his arm. "Hey, guys—"
Hoseok paused the moment he stepped into the kitchen and there was a loud shriek from Emily, followed by the sound of pans falling to the ground. Yoongi and the rest of the gang turned towards the commotion, wondering what had happened.
There was a moment of silence until Hoseok sight loudly before pushing up his glasses. The air gem bearer clicked his tongue and shook his head before going back to his seat. "Damn, now I miss Jia even more."
Yoongi was about to mentally question Hoseok's words until Emily and Jin walked into the dining room at that exact moment, both with pink tinted cheeks and swollen lips. Everyone stared at them, Jimin giggling a bit as if he was still drunk. Nobody said anything as the couple served food until purple mist started to appear on the empty seat next to Namjoon.
"Guess I'm late," Taehyung mumbled the moment he materialized on the seat, the most unamused expression on his face, eyes half-closed. He was plucked a pea from the buttered veggies with his fork and stared at it, an evident frown on his face. "Had to program Greta into autopilot mode."
"Uh, that's Jin's seat," Emily said with an arched brow, obviously trying to distract everyone from what had happened in the kitchen.
"What are you talking about?," Taehyung glared at Emily with piercing purple eyes but the protector didn't falter under his gaze and returned the same glare instead. "This is my seat."
"But that's Jin's—"
Hoseok slapped his hand over Jimin's mouth before he could finish speaking. Yoongi raised an eyebrow and noticed that Taehyung's original seat was next to Jungkook, who now had a very sorrowful expression on his face. An awkward silence was in the air and it was obvious that nobody knew how to crack the tension.
Jin sighed and sat next to Jungkook, clasping both his hands together as he smiled. Yoongi, along with everyone else, faced him in awkwardness. "Alright, guys! Let's eat up! We have a long journey ahead of us in Yoongi's kingdom!"
With that, everyone started eating as if nothing was happening. Yoongi slowly sliced his purple steak, pausing sometimes to deal with the throbbing in his head. During the silence, he glanced at Taehyung, who was quietly picking on his yellow carrots. He squinted his eyes towards the darkness gem bearer, the anger rising up in his gut. Even though what ruined his relationship with you was mostly lack of trust, he couldn't help but think that this Helian was also one of the reasons why. And that angered him to the core, it made his blood boil. He hated it. He hated all this anger.
Yoongi's grip on his glass tightened, his palm heating up as the object turned a bright red. Jin, who was seated in between him and Jungkook, noticed this immediately. He held the fire gem bearer's hand, the cold temperature canceling out the heat.
Swallowing a bit, Yoongi turned towards Jin, who was still giving him a look of concern. The blonde opened his mouth to say something but his words were cut off by a loud explosion, followed by a violent jolt of the entire ship.
Alarms blared, the bright red color flashing from every corner of the room. Taehyung hissed loudly before he snapped his fingers, purple mist covering him before he disappeared completely. Both you and Emily ran out of the dining room whilst holding weapons and Yoongi did not think twice to follow the two girls.
"What the hell is going on?!," Jimin screeched as he raced through the hallway, nearly slipping because of another violent jolt.
"We're... we're under attack," Hoseok breathed out, his eyes wide in despair. He had his back pressed to the door of his own room as he panted heavily and faced Jungkook, who was across him. "How close are we to Vlam?"
"About an hour away," Jungkook had his eyebrows scrunched together, face contorted in seriousness and wings folded behind his back. "This doesn't make any sense, unless..."
Jungkook trailed off, his next words blocked by the sound of Namjoon opening the door to the deck. Yoongi was blinded by the bright light for a moment and nearly jumped out of his skin when another loud explosion was heard. Taehyung was furiously spinning the captain's wheel, pointed teeth bared as he screamed, a hand raised and covered with purple mist. Emily was standing dangerously close to the edge of the deck and was releasing arrows in a fast pace.
"Everyone, duck!," You screamed just as loud gunshots echoed across the area. Yoongi and the others immediately ducked to the ground and he could see you using your shield to protect yourself, feet scraping against the wooden floor. Taehyung summoned a forcefield around Emily.
"Is anyone hurt?!," Jin screamed through the noise, both hands over his head. He sighed in relief after making sure that nobody was shot. "Who are they?!"
As if Jin's question was destined to be answered, a ship came into Yoongi's view as the mist of the sea faded. The ship looked shorter compared to Greta, mainly because it didn't have any sails for flight, but it looked much more modern and had a longer body. It's wood was painted charcoal to resemble dark metal, thick black smoke rising from its steam pipes. On the side of the ship was a logo — two guns merged with roses crossed over one another with flames burning behind it — painted with bright red paint. Vlam. Red flags were also placed at the top of each mast with uniformed soldiers lined up on the deck, all armed with various weapons.
"That's a Vlamian ship," Jungkook whispered, eyes widened with shock. His wings were trembling behind him, making his feather's shake, disbelief evident on his face. "This is not good at all. I knew that Hel had Vlam in its clutches but I didn't know that it was this bad."
"What's wro—"
Jimin paused when he looked up, his eyes widening. Yoongi followed his gaze and flinched at the grenade coming towards them in slow motion. Huh, de ja vu. He summoned flames on his palms but was stunned when a thunderbolt was thrown in the air, striking at the grenade and making it explode. He turned towards the thunder gem bearer, who had bright yellow eyes and electricity surging through his arms.
"As I was saying," Jimin spoke calmly and cracked his knuckles, Jungkook's jaw dropped. "What's wrong?"
Before Jungkook could reply, Taehyung spoke first. The darkness gem bearer eyed them with a glare, eyes dark yet bright purple, hands tightly clutching the captain's wheel. "Vlam is known to be Vrede's most industrial city, right behind Hel. They've got strong weapons and smart strategists. In other words, if we don't figure this out, we're as good as dead."
Yet another loud explosion shook Greta before Yoongi could properly process Taehyung's words. This time it was stronger and the fire gem bearer felt the ship actually tilt a bit so he had to grab the railings to support himself.
"Leak!," You screamed, your body halfway over the railings of the deck, katana stabbed into the ground for balance. Yoongi wanted to tell you to be careful but he changed his mind the moment you turned around. "A big one too!"
"The water won't stop flowing in!," Emily screamed whilst releasing arrows, her long hair flying with every shot.
Taehyung hissed a string of curses under his breath, anger evident on his face. He furiously pressed a few buttons before turning around, his glare piercing through Yoongi's skull. "Seokjin."
Jin, who was standing behind Yoongi, stiffened a bit at the tone Taehyung used to call his full name. "Yeah?"
"Go down the stairs and into the storage room. Take care of the leak and you better make sure that there won't even be a drop of water left down there, got it?," Taehyung snapped in a rather demanding tone and Jin nodded instantly before heading towards the door.
"Wait," Namjoon called, stopping Jin in his tracks, right before he could open the door. The earth gem bearer turned towards Jimin, who stared at him for a moment before catching his gaze and nodding, eyes flashing bright yellow. "Jimin and I will help. Jin won't be able to seal that hole by himself."
"Namjoon's right," Hoseok chimed in whilst floating in the air, carefully watching the Vlamian ship since the soldiers suddenly halted their attacks. Yoongi assumed that they were doing some kind of cold war. "You guys are going to need heat to seal metal together and Jimin's lightning will definitely be enough after a bit of concentration."
"I can help too," Yoongi spoke quietly, the throbbing in his head almost completely gone. He didn't want to feel like dead weight.
"No, Yoongi. You have to stay up here and lead the offense," Namjoon glanced at Yoongi sympathetically, chin protruded as their leader focused on their plan. The way he looked told the fire gem bearer that he shouldn't question his orders. "It'd be best for Sky to lead the defense too. Taehyung, could you help out both teams while driving the ship?"
"If it's to protect ever— Greta, then I'll do it," Taehyung deadpanned and cocked his head towards the door. "Now, go. Get your asses back up here as soon as you can because we're all going to need it."
Namjoon nodded and Emily shouted a Be careful, Jin! before the three disappeared into the door of the hallway. Yoongi faced the Vlamian ship before glancing at the others. "Why did they stop attacking?"
"I don't know," Jungkook replied honestly, his wings angled to make himself look fierce. Taehyung glanced at the angel. "But I don't think that's a good thing and I'm sure that if we move, they'll attack."
A silence. Yoongi leaned on the railings of the deck and squinted his eyes at the opposing ship. None of the soldiers were moving and were only staring so it made everyone suspicious. Although at this moment, while staring at Vlam's logo, the fire gem bearer was suddenly hit with the realization that he was going to discover and explore his kingdom. He didn't think a runaway like him was capable of a running a whole alien kingdom but he didn't really have a choice.
"Look at what your dumb ass did! You never do anything right! You're as good as dead!"
Yoongi flinched at the voice of his mother echoing in his mind and remembering her constant line whenever she was mad at him made him think — Could he do it? Was he capable of doing it? After all, he was nothing but a runaway delinquent.
"Guys," Hoseok broke the silence, making Yoongi and everyone else face him. The air gem bearer was on the wooden floor now and was staring at the other side of the deck, across the ship. "I have a feeling that... something else is coming."
Yoongi was suddenly filled with dread. You were the first one to gather the courage to speak. "What do you me—"
"Attack!"
It seemed like the next few events came in slow motion for Yoongi. Uniformed Vlamians came swooping in, each of them armed with various weapons and tightly gripping rope in their hands. Behind them was the outline of yet another Vlamian ship, more soldiers coming towards them with each second.
"It was a distraction!," Jungkook screamed as he jumped into the air, wings flapping powerfully behind his back as he shot out beams of light from his palms. "Taehyung, the forcefield!"
Taehyung didn't say anything but instead, he rushed to the navigation screen and quickly typed in some codes. However, he screamed in anger instead and nearly punched the holographic monitor with his bare fists. "It's recharging!"
"Can't it recharge any faster?!," Emily screamed. She was down on the ground with one knee, shooting her arrows towards any incoming Vlamians. It almost seemed like she wasn't running out of arrows.
"Hoseok! Rewire the electricity from the kitchen to the main fuse box now!," Taehyung screamed while pressing buttons, eyebrows scrunched together in focus.
"Got it!," Hoseok called out before flying into the hallway and slamming the door behind him.
Yoongi braced himself. He could see the Vlamians coming closer and he knew that Emily and Jungkook's long rage attacks weren't going to get rid of them all. The ship was still tilting ever so slightly because of the leak. He breathed in slowly. Summoning flames around his arms, he charged the moment a Vlamian set foot on the wooden floor of the ship.
The Vlamian had jet black hair and pale skin but his orange eyes had a purple rim surrounding his irises. This told Yoongi that the poor soldiers were being controlled by Hel and since these people were citizens of his kingdom, he actually felt bad for them. However, there was no other choice but to fight them.
Yoongi ducked and flinched when the soldier's spear grazed his face, creating a cut on his cheek. He grabbed the wooden body of the Vlamian's weapon, snapping it in half with his flames before punching the soldier across the face. He felt another soldier pounce at him from behind and land on his back, barely avoiding the knife aimed at his neck. The fire gem bearer rolled backwards and grabbed the knife during the struggle, finishing the soldier off by stabbing him in the gut.
"Behind you!," Yoongi heard you scream and turned around just in time to see a Vlamian attack from behind. He shot a pillar of fire from his palms and the soldier fall to the ground. You then knocked him out by hitting him with your shield. "Jungkook, Yoongi! Take out the right side! Emily and I will take care of the rest!"
"On it!," Jungkook screamed from above. He was using his laser light beams to cut the ropes of Vlamians before they could come to the ship, making them fall into the Kristal Sea.
Suddenly, the ship tilted to the side extremely, making Yoongi slip and fall. He slid down the wooden floor of the ship, clawing on it, until he grabbed the railings of the deck. Emily was close enough to the door and held onto the knob, the door opening and slamming her against the wall. Your hand was tangled between the ropes tied to one of the masts so you were hanging in the air.
Deciding to look down, Yoongi immediately regretted it when he realized that he was dangling off the edge and was close to plummeting into the sea. The sight of so much water made his head spin and gut twist, his anxiety level rising. Some Vlamians already fell into the water and he even had to dodge one of them.
"Taehyung!," Jungkook screamed, making Yoongi peak upwards to spot Taehyung on the ground with blood running down his mouth whilst a Vlamian general spun the wheel to one side.
"Nobody captains my ship except me!," Taehyung released a loud battle cry before charging towards the Vlamian general, purple mist appearing all over him. The two collided, the wheel spinning in the opposite direction. Yoongi sighed in relief and hoisted himself back on the deck.
However, the Vlamian general pushed Taehyung, who had instinctively grabbed the handle of the captain's wheel and spun back in the other way. Yoongi slipped again, having lost his grip on the railings, and felt himself free falling. Only one thought went through his mind: He was going to die.
Yoongi's heart stopped when he felt someone grab his hand, making him hand in mid-air. Due to the blaring sunlight, it took him a while to realize who had just saved him from dropping into the sea. Once he recognized the beautiful face matched with silver hair, his heart thumped against his chest as your sweet voice filled his ears. "I got you, Yoongi. Just... hold on, alright?"
Having no idea what to say, Yoongi kept quiet and tried to process what had just happened. He stared at you as you stared back, a silence falling upon you both despite the chaos that was currently happening on the deck. Was where to say? Did he have the right to say anything?
"Taehyung, it's done! Turn on the forcefield now!"
There was no denying the fact that Yoongi still loved you with all his heart and he wished that this moment could last forever. But... he knew that you didn't feel the same towards him. And that realization made his heart shatter.
"Sky," Yoongi said slowly, your expression changing to one of confusion. Taking deep breaths, he continued to speak. "I—"
Suddenly, Yoongi felt something tightly grip his waist. Looking down to his horror, he saw a huge metal grappling claw clinging to his body. He looked up at you but before either of you could say anything, he was pulled backwards and out of your grip.
"Yoongi! No!"
Yoongi heard you calling out his name and reaching out as he continued to be pulled backwards, away from Greta and all his other friends. He could see the ship slowly turning back to its stable position and the forcefield slowly materializing around it. Three figures also entered the deck, making the fire gem bearer realize that the leak had been sealed.
Thank God, at least the others were going to be alright.
Yoongi grunted when his back hit a metal ground, making his spine rattle in his back. He looked up, seeing Vlamians pointing their knives and guns at his face. Still, he put on a fierce expression and coated his body in flames so none of them would touch him.
The Vlamian general, who had somehow escaped from Taehyung, pointed a weird looking gun at Yoongi's face. The fire gem bearer growled loudly, not at all being intimidated by the fact that he was on a Vlamian ship, but this didn't bother the general at all. "Do you see this gun, wonders? On Earth, you call this a shotgun it seems. If any of you move or try to rescue your flaming friend here, I won't hesitate to blow his brains out."
"Do it," Yoongi snapped as some soldiers started tying thick metal wires around his body, making the general face him with a raised eyebrow. "Shoot me."
"Fierce, eh? A true Vlamian indeed," The general chuckled darkly before kicking Yoongi across the face, making him spit out blood. "You're surrounded by the citizens of the fiercest kingdom of Vrede. That won't work on us."
Black spots started covering Yoongi's vision as he slowly slipped out of consciousness. As his wrists were handcuffed together, he saw your figure on the deck of Greta, which was getting smaller the farther away he got. Noticing how the forcefield was now fully intact, no Vlamians on the deck, he smiled softly.
At least Yoongi knew that you and the rest would be safe, even though he wasn't.
-
When Yoongi came to, he was greeted by the putrid of smoke and the sound of chattering people. He slowly opened his eyes, vision clearing. Blinking consecutively, he scanned around the area. He was still on the deck of the Vlamian ship, surrounded by cargo. His waist was still tied to the mast with metal wires and a gag was covering his mouth, preventing him from speaking. Before him was the same general who had taken him away.
Yoongi could tell that the ship was parked at Vlam's port since from his view, he could see locals flocking around small markets and booth. Ships (mostly Hel's) were lined up at each side, stretching out of his view. The view of Vlam closely resembled that of Seoul's, tall skyscrapers piercing into the skies with thick smoke rising into the heavens. Every building had a dark tone to it, giving him a very ominous vibe. The streets were dark and narrow, sellers crammed into every corner.
"Morning, sunshine," The general smirked, the purple rim in his orange eyes sparkling. Yoongi gave him a burning glare, his eyes catching the sparkle of the keys hanging on his waistband. "Welcome to your kingdom, rat. I'm sure that our King will give us a splendid bounty for your life. Look at the way your gem shines! We're going to be rich!"
The general cackled loudly and turned around slightly, giving Yoongi a better view of the keys. With his thief instincts running, the fire gem bearer quickly thought of a way to free himself. Looking down and realizing that his feet were tied together, he raised them, kicking the general right at the butt.
"Ou— You little runt!"
The general slapped Yoongi across the face before snarling and rubbing his ass in pain. This suddenly made the fire gem bearer hyperventilate as he had a sudden flashback.
"All you do is make mistakes!," Young Yoongi's mother screeched before hitting him across the face with a glove. He fell to the ground crying. "When will you ever learn to do things right?!"
"Aw, what's wrong? Did I hit you too hard?," The general cooed whilst Yoongi wheezed in air, his eyes nearly burning a hole into the other's skull. "Maybe you need anoth—"
"General! The King's right hand wants to speak to you!"
"Feel lucky. I'll be back soon. Don't even try to escape," The general snapped before walking out of Yoongi's line of sight, leaving him alone on the deck. He continued to take deep breaths, doing his best to calm himself down. The last panic attack he had occurred way before he met you so he was difficulty dealing with it.
"Come on, you little piece of shit. Calm down. Calm down," Yoongi whispered to himself, his words mumbled under the mouth gag. "You can at least do this right, damn it Min Yoongi."
Yoongi heard sizzling all around him, his eyes now a bright orange. Looking down, he saw the veins of his arms turn orange, the wire around him melting. It didn't reach his hands, however, so the cuffs remained. The strap that kept his mouth gag on his face snapped due to the heat and fell, finally giving him room to breathe. He calmed down, realizing that he had freed himself during his panic.
After making sure nobody was looking, Yoongi moved his legs to reveal the general's keys. He shook off the broken wires to free his body and bent over to pick up the keys with his teeth. Having escaped from the police multiple times in Seoul, he took no time unlocking his cuffs.
Yoongi looked up with wide eyes when he heard the general's footsteps coming closer. Remembering how Greta had an anchor, he dashed to the side of the deck and saw the thick rope running downwards into the raging sea. Gulping loudly and battling his anxiety, he hoisted himself over the railings and climbed down the rope.
It seemed like the gods were in Yoongi's side because he made it to the bottom of the rope and had jumped onto the port completely dry. His ears perked when he heard the general screaming from the deck and Vlamian soldiers scurrying around.
Yoongi hid behind a stack of boxes and made his mind run. Think, think, think. Scanning through the buyers and sellers, he spotted a truck filled with random items just a foot away from him. There was no silhouette in the driver's seat but a woman was standing near its bumper.
Bingo. Yoongi took a deep breath and made a run for it. He wasn't sure if anyone was chasing him or not but his only goal was to hide in the thick layers of textile and cloth that were stacked in behind pick-up truck. Dodging salesman and accidentally making a small child spill her juice, he dove into the smelly cloth, right before the truck's engine was brought to life.
Yoongi wrapped himself in cloth and sat behind a giant porcelain jar as the view of the port became farther away, making him in relief. He watched his surroundings change from a big city to a small provincial village, where buildings were much smaller, streets narrower. Vlamian children ran across him, using sticks and crushed cans as toys. He was silent as the truck went over a hump, making him bump his head on the cabinet next to time.
At this time, Yoongi thought about his friends. Where in Vlam could they be? Were they looking for him? Did they even make it to the kingdom? He was filled with so much worry that he didn't notice the truck turning the corner and going into a very secluded lot, where a single house stood. The house looked run down, the roof nearly falling off. No neighbors, only patches of dead grass and split logs scattered everywhere. He could see a muscular topless man chopping the wood.
Yoongi listened for the driver's movements. After making sure that there was nothing, he crawled from in between the pots and slipped down from the truck, rubbing his hands together in relief.
Until Yoongi felt a knife slide against his neck, the blade nearly breaking the surface of his skin. A soft female voice came from behind him as he stopped himself from swallowing, afraid that a single movement would get his throat slit.
"Who are you? And why were you in my truck?"
