43. Persuasion
A/N - WARNING: Angst
When Taehyung saw a purple shadow flutter by the window of his bedroom, he knew exactly who it was. So, he immediately kicked the sheets off him and ran towards the door, swinging it open and unintentionally shut it loudly. He clicked his tongue, sure that the noise would wake someone up. He stared at the long and dark hallway, looking around to ensure that nobody was watching.
Taehyung stepped out slowly, the floorboards squeaking underneath his feet slightly, being careful to not draw any attention. Now that everyone seemingly trusted him, the last thing he wanted was for someone to doubt him once more. Although, he was sure that if any of you even got an inkling of his initial plan, all the trust would instantly be gone. After passing three rooms, he turned on his heel and faced the exit.
Then, a presence, a shadow of a man seen through the corner of Taehyung's eyes.
Taehyung turned around so quickly that he nearly gave himself whiplash. The shadow was gone, the only light illuminated from his room. Did he not close the door? He was sure he did. Since his gut was telling him that someone was there, he decided to check.
Taking slow and careful steps, Taehyung's heart pumped wildly as he got closer to the open door of his room. Whether it was the growing anticipation or actual anxiety, he wasn't sure, but something inside told him of another presence. However, once he was standing right in front of his door, he saw nobody.
Taehyung sighed loudly, thinking that he was stupid to let himself be intimidated by nothing. So, he walked away from his room and continued on to the exit. Looking back once more out of instinct, he stepped out of the house and into the cold night, the frigid winds making him zip up his jacket as his breaths formed clouds.
And, standing right in the middle of the field, hidden within the purple mist, was exactly who Taehyung had expected to see. "Shay."
"Taehyung," Shay greeted as the purple mist faded completely, revealing her black tights, purple cape and new staff. Seeing the weapon made Taehyung aware, attempting to grab his own staff before releasing that he had left it in his bedroom, having absolutely no attempt to fight his sister. "I see that you have received my invitation."
"Why did you call for me?," Taehyung's voice was soft, the sight of seeing his sister up close once more denying any bit of anger he had inside him. Despite how she had fallen into their father's dark mindset and how she had attempted to kill him and his friends, he still thought of her as his little sister, the girl he had ultimately decide to protect with his life. He longed to hold her but knowing that he was an enemy in her eyes, he knew it was impossible.
"Since you denied my previous deal, I came with an offering, dear brother, a proposal straight from the King," With a stoic expression, Shay dug into the pocket of her armor and pulled out a white-enveloped letter. Taehyung hesitated, staring at the item before taking it, seeing the brand of Hel printed on its paperback. He wondered what his father had wanted to tell him, much more have it passed onto him by his sister instead of telling him himself. "It is for your eyes only. Father said so."
Taehyung brushed his fingertips against the paper, closing his eyes and having major flashbacks of his father. Just thinking all the suffering he had put him and Shay through fueled his anger. Despite the man being his father, he had developed extreme hatred over him and when he opened his eyes, he found his fury materializing into purple mist circling around his feet. As he waved and made the mist disappear, he noticed Shay giving him a mischievous smirk.
"My work here is done," Shay smirked and clapped her hands together, her cape fluttering in the cold wind as she turned around. "Send my regards to the wonders. Surely, it will lead to them doubting you, yes? Heh, I assure you, brother, your death shall come when we meet again."
Taehyung stared at Shay's back, an unidentifiable emotion bubble in the pit of his stomach. Seeing his dear sister walk away reminded him of his last few days in Hel, when he decided to leave. She was walking away again. He can't afford to have her walk away again. He wanted to speak, to tell her
to stay, that he wished for his sister to stand by his side and keep him company, that he missed her dearly and loved her as much as a brother would. Already reaching out, her figure was growing distant.
No, please. Not again.
Despite trying his hardest to suppress the memory, Taehyung still clearly remembered the day he had left Hel and his attempts at convincing Shay to come with him in order to free themselves from the clutches of their father. She was wrapped in a little blanket, watching with curious as he attempted to sneak out the castle and out of their abused lives. He told his little sister his plan, at how he'd find a way to defeat their father and eventually bring peace to all of Vrede.
But Shay refused. Why did she refuse? To this day, Taehyung couldn't understand why.
"Sis," Taehyung had teleported right behind Shay and grabbed her wrist, making her pause, back still turned. He gulped and tightened his grip, afraid that she would be out of his sight again, that she would walk away again. "Why did you stay? That day, why didn't you come with me?"
Shay didn't reply, merely glancing over her shoulder to stare back at Taehyung with soulless eyes. He flinched at this, remembering how as a child, her eyes were bright and lively, full of joy and hope. But all because of their father, that girl was gone, now replaced by a cold-blooded murderer. It pained him, made his heart ache in his chest. Where did his sweet little sister go?
And, somehow, Taehyung understood. It was like he had tapped into Shay's mind, figuring out what ultimately lead to her decision.
"I get it now," Taehyung let go of Shay's wrist once he knew that she was listening, stepping backwards slowly. He had his teeth gritted and fists balled, furious at how his innocent sister had been corrupted by a dark force in the form of a man he was forced to respect and call his father. He hated how it was out of his control, at how the only way to have protected her long ago was to stay and suffer himself. Both choices lead to a bad end. It always did, in his case. "You stayed with father and hoped that sucking up to him would get him to soften, didn't you? You thought that he would appreciate you staying, right? Well, news flash Shay but father has completely forgotten how to love. There is nothing you can do to make him give a damn about you, me or anyone els—"
"For someone who left their sister to rot, you've got a big mouth," Shay cut Taehyung off with words that stung, words that went right through him and struck his heart with so much pain. She smashed her staff to the ground, which cracked under the pressure, her expressionless form slowly breaking.
At the same time, those words angered Taehyung further. Before he could stop himself, he was stomping towards Shay, fangs bared and eyes glowing a bright purple. The enchantress barely withered under his glare. "You're the one who decided to stay, Shay! I wanted to bring you with me but you refused! Then you go all sad because I left? You should have come with me!"
"You could have stayed, Taehyung! You could have stayed with me even after I refused to come!," Shay hissed, walking closer to the point that the two's faces were only inches apart. Purple mist was starting to circle around them, symbolizing their growing anger. "I... stayed because I am a Helian, because I am brave and I face my problems head on, because it is my duty as the princess to serve the King until my last breath. You ran, just like the coward you truly are. You ran away from your responsibilities, from your destiny. You don't deserve to be called a Helian, no more your title as Hel's heir to the throne."
"Then what did you expect me to do, huh? Stay and watch father continue to bring chaos into Vrede? Watch in silence as he destroys everything? I couldn't do that, Shay. Someone had to make a stand and that someone was me," Taehyung said slowly, making himself aware of his tone of voice, not wanting to sound too aggressive. He always hated it when people decided to be loud. "I left with a promise. I swore with my life that I would return with enough power to save you—"
"Save me? Save me?! Do you think of me as a fool?!," Shay screeched, slamming her staff to the ground once more, purple mist exploding and making dust fly around them. Her eyes were glowing brightly, almost more than Taehyung's. "I know what goes on in that thick head of yours, Taehyung. You're just going to use me as your pawn then throw me away, just like how you were going to discard the wonders. Wasn't that your plan? Use them to strengthen yourself and exterminate them afterwards so you could defeat father on your own and have Vrede under your command?"
Taehyung's fury faltered a bit at Shay's words but he didn't let this break him down any further. Putting back on his serious expression, he snarled in return. "You're right. That was my initial plan but now I realize that they can help me, that the wonders are the good force Vrede needs. That plan no longer exists to me."
Shay scoffed and rolled her eyes, twirling the staff in her hands, a purple light glowing at its tip, before placing it in the strap across her back. She crossed her arms, absolute mischief evident in her eyes despite how calm she now looked. Seeing this immediately switched on Taehyung's siren. "What is this newfound love for the wonders, hm? Didn't you hate them? Weren't you jealous of their power? What was it on Earth that made you so soft, huh? Was it the guardian?"
Pausing for a moment, Shay decided to observe Taehyung, who completely failed to conceal the growing anger on his face, especially at the mention of you. And this made the enchantress chuckle darkly as she fully identified his weakness.
"I see, so it really was the guardian's doing. Maybe after I finish you off, I'll pay her a visit myself."
"Don't you dare lay a finger on Sky or any of the other wonders," Taehyung hissed, purple mist coating his arms, fangs bared once more. For a moment, Shay's sly expression turned into one of shock, then anger and ultimately jealousy. This left as quickly as it came, however, and the bearer of the gem of darkness failed to notice this. "If you kill me, her and them, what will be left for you? Nothing. You'll be all alone, Shay, and you won't get what you want. I'm pretty sure that our bastard of a father will never give you what you're looking for either."
A silence. Taehyung smiled to himself, knowing that it meant he was victorious. Shay, despite having no reply, kept a straight expression for a few moments until she finally turned around, walking away again. This time, he didn't stop her. He knew that nothing would.
When Shay waved her hand in a circular motion and summoned a portal, Taehyung spoke once more, eyes back to their regular black shade. "It doesn't have to be like this. We can work together. We can join forces and defeat father. Together. Like the team we were."
"Not with you," Shay spat, her back still facing Taehyung. "I'd rather stand alone than work with a traitor. You made your choice and this is mine."
Taehyung watched in defeat as Shay, his little sister, stepped into the portal and disappeared into purple mist. He glanced at the letter before sighing loudly in frustration and running a hand through his hair. Again, he had failed. He had failed to convince Shay to venture out of the dark side. It made him wonder – if he had made a different choice back then, would she not have left? With a heavy heart, the bearer turned around and entered the house once again, retreating into his room soon afterwards.
What Taehyung failed to notice was the slightly ajar door of you and Yoongi's room, accompanied by the fiery orange eyes that stared at him in burning rage.
-
When Namjoon woke up, the first thing he heard was a series of knocks coming from his bedroom door. He sat up on his bed and released before mumbling out a small come in with his deep morning voice. Due to his temporarily blurry vision, it took a few moments until he noticed the big white wings of the person who had entered his room.
"Jungkook?," Namjoon questioned after scratching his cheek, the said angel shifting his baby blue eyes to the ground, mouth pressed into a thin line. It was obvious that he was bothered by something. "What's wrong?"
There was a bit of silence since Jungkook played with his feathers instead of answering. Once he sat on the bed and folded his wings in order to not hit Namjoon, he hugged his knees to his chest and finally spoke. "I know that Jimin isn't here but... I can still voice out my concerns, right?"
It didn't take two heartbeats for Namjoon to realize that a single men club meeting was in order, despite Jimin not being around. If the earth gem bearer would be honest, he never thought that the club would actually mean something to him, no more be relevant to his friendship with the others. He thought it was nothing serious, something Jimin came up with for fun. But, then, he realized that he found comfort in the club, especially during their late night meetings accompanied by alcoholic drinks. It made him feel whole, it made him feel so much better about himself, even with their small population (it was unsure to him whether Taehyung was joining in or not).
And it was all thanks to Jimin.
"Of course you can, Jungkook. I'm always here to listen," Namjoon wasn't sure if he was saying the right thing. After all, it was Jimin who would usually absorb all their rants and listen to their problems. Still, seeing Jungkook's remorseful expression, he knew what he had to do.
Jungkook glanced at Namjoon, eyes partly concealed under his blonde fringe. He then sighed and pressed his cheek on his knees. "I had a dream last night. I saw... I saw my ex-girlfriend. She was calling for me. I was reaching out to her but she was getting farther away. She wants to hug me, ruffle my hair, kiss me... but she can't. She says that she can't, that even though she's nearby, she can't. I don't understand, why did she appear in my dreams like that? She... she's been dead for years."
Namjoon's expression softened as he watched Jungkook's eyes glaze over, tears threatening to leak from the angel. Instead, the blonde turned away, sobbing out of his view. This made the older boy pat his back in hopes of comforting him, although his cries were heartbreaking and so broken, making him want to weep as well.
"I love her so much, Namjoon," Jungkook sniffled, still refusing to look at the earth gem bearer in the eye. Namjoon continued to rub circles on the angel's back. "Why was she taken from me? Why did she have to die?"
Namjoon had to collect his thoughts in order for him to give the right answer. He saw himself in Jungkook and remembered how he too had doubted death and cursed it for taking his loved ones from him, to the point that he held himself back from his true potential due to his mourning. He didn't know what to say since even after he accepted the deaths of his family, he still never understood why people like Jungkook had go through the same thing he did. He knew that everything happened for a reason, that there was a purpose behind each event, but with the sight of the angel right now, he knew that the only way to help him was to listen. So, he stayed silent.
That was when Jungkook finally turned around after a few painful minutes of sobbing, revealing his swollen eyes and tear-stained face to Namjoon, whose chest tightened at the sight. "I miss him."
"Him?," Namjoon questioned immediately, thinking he had heard wrongly.
"Jimin, I mean," Jungkook let his legs hang off the bed and swiped his falling tears away with his wings, sniffling loudly. "He was always that positive force in our group, the one person who made sure that everyone was alright... even in the expense of his own happiness. Where do you think is he now? Is he doing well? Is he okay? He may have ran from the truth but wasn't that what he always did? Didn't he always mask his personal issues through our club? Through his antics? I hope he's alive somewhere, Namjoon... I really do."
Namjoon blinked at Jungkook, struggling to process the information being thrown at him all at once. Once he remembered the angel's ability to read thoughts, he realized that there was no way for him to be wrong, that Jimin really was bottling up his own problems while listening to theirs. The thunder gem bearer had been suffering by himself despite forming the single men club, refusing to show everyone else that he was in pain as well. It made him ball his fists, made him angry at himself for not being able to read through Jimin's cheerful premise, for not realizing that he, like everyone else, needed help too.
I miss him, too. Those were the words Namjoon wanted to say but instead, he stood up, determination flooding from his now soil brown irises, teeth gritted and jaw clenched. Jungkook stared at him, head tilted in confusion. "That's it. I won't just sit here like an idiot when Park Jimin could be dying somewhere."
"Namjoon... what are you saying?," Jungkook said carefully, wiping his leftover tears with his hand as he watched Namjoon pace around the room, chin out and eyebrows scrunched together.
"I understand that Jimin needs a bit of time to himself in order to accept his role in Bliksem but he could be under Hel's guard, for all we know," Namjoon closed his eyes, remembering the moment Agnes had nearly convinced him to give up his gem, then Jimin's words rang in his head and he realized the grave decision he was about to make. Turning, he faced the angel, who was now standing up as well. "Jungkook, Jimin has always helped us. It's time for us to return the favor. You saw how he ran across town, right? I have a feeling that he ended up in the woods. Let's start from there."
"Sounds like a plan," Jungkook grinned, showing off his big bunny teeth, wings flapping in excitement. Namjoon was a bit stunned by his words since his form made him think that he was going to disagree. "I'll go tell the others."
Just keep holding on, Jimin. We're coming to find you.
-
The moment Jimin realized that he had fallen asleep in Kaeva's house, panic immediately filled his system. Although he was greeted by a peaceful and bright morning, the first thing he thought of were his friends and them worrying about him, wondering where he had ran off to. It made him realize that running away on his own was a stupid decision and he was just glad that he ended up under Kaeva's care instead of being captured by Helians.
Jimin peeled the sheets off himself and stood up, the floorboards making a small squeak under his soles. He slipped on his shoes, which he had spotted next to the bed, and checked his ring out of instinct. The thunder gem was glowing a bright yellow and after staring at it for a moment, he stood up and pulled up his hood, only to pause when he spotted the painting of Kaeva dancing once again. Shaking his head, he turned around and walked towards the door, noticing the white ballet shoes enclosed in a glass casing.
All thoughts of panic left Jimin at that moment and he found himself touching the glass case, imagining Kaeva in those shoes, dancing the night away, just like she was in the portrait. Remembering the cast on her foot, his heart ached at how the injury most probably shattered all her dreams, banning her from dancing ever again. It reminded him of Hoseok, who went through something similar.
Jimin also thought of Kaeva and what her significance was to Bliksem. Seeing that she lived alone in an isolated cottage in the middle of the forest, he knew there was a reason behind this and couldn't help but be weary. But what exactly should he be suspicious about? The fact that she had helped him was enough to reassure him but a small voice at the back of his mind was telling him to be careful.
"You're up early," Jimin jumped, letting go of the glass casing and leaning backwards. After regaining his composure, he turned around and saw Kaeve standing right outside the bedroom, wearing a similar white dress she had on yesterday, except now it had long sleeves and frills, matched long socks. Her red hair was down now, yellow eyes boring into him. "Why is that?"
Jimin stared at Kaeva for a moment and leaned on the doorframe, facing her. He noticed how she was a bit shorter than him, which almost made him chuckle out of amusement. "Again, thank you for last night. I... need to go. I have friends waiting for me."
Kaeva tilted her head, her fringe swaying as she did. She flicked her eyes towards Jimin's gem, making him step back a bit out of alertness. It made him think if she about his identity as a wonder or not but he got an answer when her yellow orbs widened in shock. However, she masked this with a smile, nodding. "Do you at least want a bite to eat before you go?"
Due to the huge gratitude Jimin had towards Kaeva, he couldn't bring himself to say no. As he was lead to the kitchen, they passed through the living room, where rows of books were placed in a large bookshelf, which was located across a pale red couch. He halted in his place when he caught sight of one of the books, the cover beige, words written diagonally at its side with bold letters — The Legend of the Seven Wonders.
Jimin was intrigued by this book and decided to check it out after he noticed that Kaeva had disappeared into the kitchen, where he could hear some pots clanging and assumed that she was preparing food. He stepped towards the bookshelf slowly, taking out the specific beige one with ease. What greeted him were seven animated figures, all color codes differently, looking extremely cartoonish with the matching pastel background. He couldn't help but laugh at how they were depicted, especially since Namjoon, seemingly the boy in brown, had wildly spiked purple hair.
The first page was the picture of a badly drawn planet, parts shaded with individual colors. Only now did Jimin realize that it was a children's book, then he read the words out loud. "Fire. Water. Earth. Air. Thunder. Light. Darkness. Special individuals were assigned with gems that held great power of each. They were called the wonders."
Jimin took a deep breath before turning to the next page, seeing a figure of a boy in red and dark hair, one that did not at all resemble Yoongi, flames surrounding him. In the background was a dark city of metal, pillars of smoke rising from the haunting factories. The text was underneath in a bright white color – Fire was bright, fire was hot.
Next was a page filled with blue, the location being an underwater city with pearl buildings, a long haired woman in the center. Jimin raised an eyebrow, wondering if Tranen's first wonder was a woman, which would mean that she was a great relative of Jin's. Water was fluid, water was cold.
It didn't take much for Jimin to recognize Aarde when he flipped the page. He stare at the rocky cities then nearly bursted out in laughter once he spotted the spike haired figure who was supposedly Namjoon. Earth was firm, earth was strong.
Lucht came with its floating islands, flying animals and bright green trees and again, there was a woman in a leafy yet frilly dress, hair braided and flowing down to her waist. Air was frigid, air was invisible.
Jimin paused once Bliksem came, even though he had already braced himself for the worst possible scenario. He saw the same bright city in his vision, colorful lights everywhere and people dancing across all the streets. Gulping, he desperately looked for the text. Thunder was flashy, thunder was—
"Jimin?," Shutting the book quickly upon instinct, Jimin saw Kaeva staring at him blankly, a plate of fruit in her hands, something that resembled watermelon but had a strange purple color and green seeds. "The food is ready."
"I'll... be right there," Jimin said slowly and placed back the book, the mystery of the sentence's end lurking in his mind. Tailing behind Kaeva, he finally entered the kitchen and looked around out of curiosity. He saw rows of fruits and vegetables, all different compared to what he's used to back at Earth. He could see something slithering in a jar, so he immediately looked away and faced a bowl on the table instead. Seeing how the strange fruit was hairy and looked harmless, he attempted to grab it, then the hairy leaves folded at his touch, his eyes widening in awe.
And just then, Kaeva appeared with a plate of brown rice and a large cut of blue meat. Jimin stared at it. "It's fresh meat from Bliksem's local geit. The bluer the color, the more delicious it is. Please, eat well."
Jimin nodded slowly and sat down, the wooden chair squeaking slightly once it made contact with his ass. He stared at the blue meat once again before hearing clanging metal, looking up to see Kaeva elegantly slicing her meat. He grabbed his own utensils and followed, internally screaming as he tasted the food. Surprisingly, it was just like bacon, except saltier and a bit rubbery in texture. It was nice to eat something other than wild berries and wheatgrass for once.
"You were a dancer?," Jimin found himself asking before he could stop himself and he mentally face palmed at how he had suddenly started a conversation.
Thankfully, Kaeva didn't look bothered by this at all. She sipped her drink before glancing at Jimin, releasing a long sigh. "I... was, yes."
Jimin noticed Kaeva glancing at her casted foot sadly, making him frown out of pity and remorse. Again, his mouth functioned without the approval of his brain. "If you don't mind, may I ask what happened?"
Ah, great job, Jimin. You just made yourself sound like the biggest ass in the universe. Figuratively.
"I– I mean, you shouldn't if you aren't comfortable—"
"It's alright, Jimin," Kaeva smiled warmly, glancing at her foot once more. She took another bite of her meat before she leaned on her chair, eyes dripping with sadness. Her last few words came in a whisper, although it was still loud enough for Jimin to hear. "It's not like you'll believe me, anyway."
Jimin couldn't help but laugh a bit at Kaeva's words. "Trust me, Kaeva, with all that I've seen in the past few months, I doubt that what you're telling me is going to be a big surprise."
And Kaeva seemed to have been amused by this because she had chuckled under her breath. She leaned forwards this time, crossing her arms and placing them on the table top. Jimin gulped. "Have you heard rumors about Bliksem's Tower of Life?"
Jimin recalled Taehyung's words before he nodded slowly. "It's the tall building that powers up the city? My friend says that some Blikseians believe that it's the home of a goddess."
"A goddess," Kaeva snorted, oddly finding it amusing. Jimin raised an eyebrow at her in confusion, wondering what was going through her mind at the moment. "I'm no goddess. It's funny how some think of me that way."
It took a few passing seconds for Jimin to actually realize what Kaeva was trying to tell him. When he did, his eyes widened, the fork falling out of his hand and onto the plate. He took back what he said, this was a complete shocker. "You—"
"I used to live in that tower, Jimin. I was in charge of powering up the Tower of Life," Kaeva took her utensils and continued to eat, whilst Jimin stared in disbelief. He remembered the woman in the white dress in Bliksem's logo and suddenly, it all made sense. "Here in Bliksem, one person in each generation is born with energy coursing in their blood, one powerful enough to provide electricity for the city. This time, it was me. When my parents found out that I could channel it out through dance, I was placed in the Tower by the King. I danced for years... until the Helians came and killed the King. They slashed my ankle, completely tearing a tendon. After that, Bliksem was taken over and they... banned anything bright and lively, like parties and singing and... dancing. I was sent away to the forest. No matter how hard I tried, I could no longer dance. Because of me, Bliksem is like this, dead and silent."
"Kaeva, it isn't your fault," Jimin was slowly starting to turn angry at what the Helians had done to Kaeva, his gem glowing furiously. He did his best to conceal it, barely stopping the bolts of electricity sparking in his palms. "It's those Helians. They're the only ones you can blame."
"That is true," Kaeva sighed and played with the strands of her red hair. Jimin noticed that she did this whenever she felt anxious. "But... I can't help but feel worthless. It was my job to power up Bliksem. Now that I can't, what am I for?"
You don't need to weigh your self-worth only because of that. Jimin wanted to say those words but he wasn't sure how he'd do it without sounding like a flirt or a creep. So, he kept silent instead, then his eyes turned wide when he realized something important. "Jin can help."
"Who?," Kaeva questioned curiously, head tilted to the side.
"Jin can help!," Jimin stood up in excitement, a wide smile on his face, accidentally slamming his hands on the table and making Kaeva flinch. "Jin's a friend of mine who specializes in healing. Well, he can't revive or regenerate but that isn't the point! Trust me, your ankle will be a piece of cake to him. After we get you patched up, we can bring you back to the Tower of Life and—"
Reclaim Bliksem. Jimin's smile faded once he realized what he was babbling about. Again, he was hit with anxiousness and worry, only coming back to reality when he heard Kaeva's voice calling at him. "Jimin? What are you talking about?"
Suddenly, Jimin realized that Kaeva had no clue about his identity, about why he, a stranger, was wandering around Bliksem. He wasn't why he didn't mention it, maybe he was afraid of being judged, of being tagged as a hero due to him being a wonder. Still, she needed to know. He opened his mouth, intent on revealing everything, when there was a loud crash from the kitchen window.
Jimin whipped his head around and saw a group of Helians armed with knives, all of them breaking into the house, fruit and glass breaking everywhere. Following his first instinct, he jumped in front of Kaeva with a protective stance, eyes turning yellow as electricity sparked over his palms. There was a soft gasp. "Get behind me."
"Jimin, you—," Kaeva paused once she looked around and realized that they were completely surrounded by Helian soldiers. Jimin was glad that none of them had lasers.
"I'll explain everything later, alright? For now, I need you to get under the table. I don't want you to get hurt," Jimin glanced at Kaeva, who flinched a bit at his piercing yellow eyes. Her expression into something else for a moment but he couldn't identify what exactly was it. Then, she crawled underneath the table, disappearing from his line of sight.
What he didn't expect was for Kaeva to push a nearby Helian and run straight to the living room, making some soldiers follow her.
"Kaeva!," Jimin attempted to run to her aid but screamed in pain when he felt his cheek sting, noticing a knife on the wall behind him. Remembering the soldiers, he knew that he had to get rid of them before he could help her. "Come at me."
The first soldier pounced at Jimin but, thanks to his flexibility, he was able to bend down, the soldier crashing into the wall behind him and shattering some jars of food. The second Helian ran towards him with a raised knife but Jimin dodged it and twisted his leg, slamming him onto the table, which didn't even squeak. Tough wood.
Jimim noticed three more soldiers throwing knives at him when one stabbed him on the shoulder. He rolled to on the ground and flipped the table, the unconscious Helian sliding off it, and listened to the knives hitting it. Once it ended, he stood up and slapped his hands together, electricity flashing brightly before bolts of lightning struck all three. The poor Helians convulsed for a moment before they dropped dead.
"Kaeva, I'm coming!," Jumping over the table, Jimin made a mad dash to the living room, nearly losing his footing. He gasped, halting when a wooden staff met his neck. Hit with confusion, he summoned a ball of electricity before realizing that it was Kaeva who attacked him.
Kaeva's fierce expression fell when she realized that she was facing Jimin. She stepped backwards, holding the staff behind her. "Sorry about that. I'm not a damsel in distress, you know? I can defend myself. Don't take me for granted just because I'm injured. You were saying?"
Jimin was silent for a while before the corners of his mouth curled into a smirk. "It isn't safe here anymore. You're going to have to come with me."
Kaeva raised an eyebrow. Jimin noticed how her aura completely changed after she witnessed his powers. "Will you tell me everything if I do? Who you are and why you can harness electricity?"
"Of course, I will," Jimin stuck out a hand, which Kaeva stared at in suspicion. "Come on, you're going to have to meet my friends."
It took a moment but eventually, Kaeva smiled. Then, she grabbed Jimin's hand.
