You tossed and turned in your place, your whole body aching and your head throbbing badly. You weren't even on a bed, instead, you were on the cold hard ground and you had no idea where you were. The room was screaming white and it seemed endless.

You sat up, while rubbing your head, and looked around, hoping to see a window, a door or any form of escape. Unfortunately, there was none, and you were officially alone in an infinite white room.

Only one thought entered your mind: You were dead.

"So this is what it's like to be dead, huh?," You said sarcastically as you got up and picked up your jacket, which was strangely off you and on the floor. "Who knew that I would be lonelier than I already was..."

Since you literally had nothing to do, you decided to walk around. It was as if you weren't moving at all, since your surroundings didn't change and there was absolutely no way to tell where you were.

You didn't know how long you've been walking so you decided to look at your wristwatch. You frowned when you saw that its frozen, stopping exactly at 7:07 pm. Frustrated, you tapped the smooth quartz to hopefully make it work but it didn't.

This made you wonder where you were. A place where time doesn't exist? Heaven? Hell? Purgatory? You honestly had no idea.

"Well, you don't need a watch when you're dead," You shrugged before slipping off the watch and tossing it in front of you. Unlike what you expected, there was no clink of the metal colliding with the ground, which made you confused. "What in the---"

"You're not dead, Sky."

Your eyes widened when purple mist came out of nowhere and swirled around in front of you. Eventually, it formed into a shape of a person, the smoke fading away, revealing someone familiar.

It was the robed woman, the same one you saw in your dream all these years. You weren't sure which was more terrifying, possibly being dead or being alone in this place with a woman who had piercing purple eyes.

For a moment, the woman just stared, shadows of what you assumed to be a million tortures souls swirling in her eyes. Her mouth was slightly ajar and you could see the tips of her fangs sticking out of her upper lip. The hood of her robe was covering her entire face and the only reason why you could see her eyes was because they were glowing.

Slowly, the woman raised one of her hands. You flinched at how sickly purple her skin was and her black nails were as long as a snake's fangs. In between her fingers was a silver metal watch, this time ticking, the sounds of running time echoing in the area.

"Time is a precious element for you humans," The woman said, her mouth not moving, which made you stare. After a while, you realized that her voice was in your head. "This tool, it is one of the most impressive inventions of your species. Something as tiny as this, recording the passage of time and space? Pure genius."

"Who are you?," You spoke up after gathering some courage, your throat dry. The woman's purple orbs shifted towards you, making you back away instantly. "Stay away from me."

"I won't hurt you, Sky," The woman was levitating towards you, the tips of her toes nearly brushing against the floor. "Also, you're not dead. I merely brought you to a space between the dimensions, where we can talk alone."

Nope. Not today, Satan.

You swiftly turned around and broke into a run but was blocked by a gigantic purple wall of energy. Seeing this reminded you of him, the man who saved you, the man who had tried to save your orphanage. You wondered, was he dead as well? What did he mean that he was only half-human? You couldn't even count the number of unanswered questions you had.

"Ah, I see, you met him," You jumped when you heard the woman's voice and felt a presence behind you. You turned around and became face to face with her, shocking you so much that you fell on the ground. "Interesting, you've met the bearer."

"B-Bearer? What are you talking about?!," You screamed in fright as the woman stood in her place, staring down at you with those burning eyes. Your back was leaning on the wall, nowhere to run, nowhere to hide. You were trapped. "You haven't answered my question! Who are you?! Why do you keep appearing in my dreams?!"

Instead of replying, the woman stuck out her hand once more. You stared at it in confusion, before she said: "You're burnt. Let me see your hands."

"Don't touch me."

"I won't hurt you, Sky."

There was something in the woman's voice that just... persuaded you. You knew that there was some kind of... power behind it but you could only watch yourself as you placed your hands in her's. It was like you were the soul of a puppet and couldn't control your own movements.

Your eyes were wide as purple mist started surrounding your hands. You winced becauss of a slight sting, then it faded, revealing your healed hands. It was as if you were never injured in the first place.

You stared at your hands in awe, especially because you thought she was hostile, then glanced at the woman, whose expression still remained blank.

"My name is K," The woman suddenly spoke, this time not through your mind, but through her own voice. It was sweet and delicate, like a flower, which was something you didn't expect. "I am the former guardian of the seven wonders."

"Seven Wonders? Of the world? Modern or Ancient?," You said with a slight snort, trying to joke to lighten up the dark atmosphere. "You guard the Pyramids of Gyza?"

K didn't reply, but based on how her eyelids slightly drooped at your words, you knew that she wasn't amused. Your smile faded and you stared at your feet, both in embarrassment and fear.

K then waved her hand, like some kind of tourist guide showing of a museum piece, and there was a bright light. Seven orbs floated above her hand, all different colors. You gasped at how pretty it looked, especially the blue one, which you then realized was made of water.

"Long ago, in a world, far, far away from where your species found their home, five kingdoms lived in peace. Vrede was the planet's name and these kingdoms lived in harmony. To keep the balance are two additional kingdoms, one above land -- heaven as you humans call it -- and one underneath, which you named hell. Each kingdom had a ruler, all from the same father, Macht, the King of Planet Vrede."

With a flick of a finger, the orbs grew in size, fused and spun around you and K, looking like a solar system. The white walls faded and now you were surrounded by stars. You were in space. Right above a planet, which had a mixture of colors on its crust.

"These kingdoms included; Vlam, Tranen, Aarde, Lucht, and Bliksem. Namely, they were the kingdoms of fire, water, earth/rock, air and thunder. Above the clouds is Hemel, land of the angels and all things good. Below the ground, near the planet's core, is Hel, land of the demons and all things unholy."

You couldn't help but stare at the planet below your feet as you took in all the information. Who would have thought that there has a another planet, far from Earth, which was inhabited by people who had natural yet extraordinary abilities.

Suddenly, the mixture of red, blue, green, brown and yellow faded and was taken over by an eerie, purple mist. The clouds, which you assumed symbolized Hemel, became drained of color, turning grey and... sad.

You turned towards K, who had a bitter expression on her face.

"Everything was going well, until the King of Hel turned greedy and decided that he wanted the other six kingdoms to himself as well. Because the demons had the strongest powers among all others, they successfully took over the five kingdoms by slaying their Kings. Hemel, on the other hand, is currently in a war with Hel. Light and Darkness... they are each other's strengths, yet also each other's weaknesses. It was a war that would last forever."

Then, seven smaller orbs formed on K's fingertips, each color represting a kingdom. This time, they were round and solid, like a gem, only shinier. Each gem had a character branded to it and your eyes widened when you recognized the purple one... which looked exactly like his ring.

"Years before Hel took over Vrede, each kingdom crafted their own gem and sealed part of the King's powers in them, sending them to your planet, Earth, for safe keeping. Bearers are the mortals who were chosen to keep these gems, serving as an heirloom that has been passed down for generations. This served as a back-up, in case their people would become extinct, because there is enough power in each gem to revive a whole kingdom. However, the King of Hel is now after these gems, for he wants unlimited power, and he has started sending his minions to your planet."

"The Ignis...," You mumbled, tearing up slightly at the memory of the fire and all the bodies. Your teeth gritted in anger, your knuckles white, and you hated the King of Hel for killing so many innocent people for power.

K glanced at you, a wave of pity flashing through her eyes, before they turned dull once again.

"During this, I was a citizen of Hel, yet I was also chosen as the guardian of the seven gems, the seven wonders. Knowing that I had the information of the gem's locations, the King... the King tortured me but I kept my oath and never told him, even until the day he killed me."

Now you knew why K had so much hatred in her voice whenever she was talking about the King of Hel. You couldn't even imagine what she went through and it was definitely nothing compared to your life in the orphanage.

"Sky," Everything around you faded back to white as K floated towards you. This time, you were no longer afraid of her eyes. "The reason why I called you through your dreams was to warn you of your mission and what is yet to come."

"M-Mission?," You only had one idea about what this mission could be but you didn't want to accept it. "What mission?"

"For one hundred years, no guardian has been chosen. One has finally been selected and that person is you, Sky. Your mission? It's what I always told you. Find and gather the seven wonders."

You froze, the information hitting you like a brick. Then, you laughed, thinking that it was ridiculous for someone as normal as you to be trusted with a mission that holds the faith of both Earth and Vrede. K had expected this kind of reaction from you, so she wasn't fazed.

"You're joking," You wheezed and clutched your stomach, only stopping when you caught the intense stare K was giving you. "...Right?"

"...Sky, I know it's hard to believe but you are the chosen guardian of Vrede's seven wonders," K then put a hand in her hood and exposed some of her hair. Her long silver locks were flowing down to her chest. "Born with silver hair, yes? That's the first sign of being a guardian. You are no longer safe, you need to keep moving. The Ignis was just the beginning, more monsters will be coming for you."

You unconsciously touched your hair, a small smirk forming on your face. All this time, you really were different, in a good way.

"Well, my time's almost up. Oh! Speaking of time...," K presented you your wristwatch but this time, it had a purple glow to it. A slight clink was heard as it fell in your hands. "I added some magic to it. The quartz will glow everytime you are near a gem or its bearer."

You glanced as your watch as it ticked and read the time. 7:17 pm. You blinked, did that conversation really only take ten minutes? "...So, where do I find the seven wonders?"

"I can tell you where they are in the country but I can't pinpoint their exact location," You shot K a worried look but she smiled a bit, to reassure you and build your confidence. "You'll be fine. Just... don't trust anyone. Even the bearers."

"What? Why---"

"I don't have much time, Sky," K pat your shoulders, her long nails digging into your shoulder blades, and you noticed that purple smoke was starting to surround you. "Since you are a new guardian, I'll guide you. If you need help, just call me and you'll hear my voice."

You nodded, the smoke now up to your waist. You still couldn't believe that an average seventeen year old teenager like was given the responsibility to save not one but two planets. It was just crazy.

"Oh, one more thing," K said as the smoke climbed up your cheeks. "If you meet the bearer of the gem of Darkness again, tell him that I said hi."

For the second time today, you woke up in a room full of white. This time though, you were in on a bed in a hospital room. You stared at your hands, seeing that they were now healed, then glanced at your wristwatch, which was slightly glowing purple.

This made you realize that it wasn't a dream. You really were the guardian of the seven wonders.

"I see that you're awake now," You jumped when you heard a voice a few feet away from you, sighing after you saw the doctor smiling at you. "You've been asleep for a whole day. How are you feeling?"

"Fine, I guess...," You scratched. After all that you've seen and learned, you were definitely not fine.

"You were knocked out cold when you came here yesterday. Do you remember anything? Your name?," The doctor said as he dragged a chair, sat on it and bit his pen as he flipped open his clipboard. You couldn't help but look at his face, especially since he looked way too... pretty with his clear skin and plump lips.

"Yeah. My name's Sky," The doctor looked up at you, expecting to hear your surname. "...Just Sky."

The doctor stared at you for a solid minute and you couldn't read his expression at all. He then nodded, before jotting down something on his clipboard. "I see..."

"T-The orphanage," You said after having flashbacks of the burning orphanage, dead bodies and him -- the bearer of the gem of Darkness -- protecting you through it all. "How is it? My friend too, is he alright?"

The doctor locked his doe eyes on yours and you, once again, failed to read his expression. There was something, though, and you didn't know if it was pity or something else. "Miss... Sky, you are the only survivor of the fire in the orphanage. I'm sorry."

Hearing those words felt like a kick in the stomach. You leaned on the bedframe and placed a hand on your forehead. All those people you used to see everyday, chattering, eating, having fun, were all dead... because of you. The Ignis was after you and you had survived, resulting in the deaths of innocent people.

Then, you thought of him. Where did he go? You wondered why he had just disappeared like thin air, nowhere to be seen once more. You weren't even able to get his name. This frustrated you, not only because one of the bearers had slipped away from you, but also because you never got the chance to say thank you.

"Do you need some time alone, Miss Sky?," The doctor asked, his chin resting at the back of his hand, after noticing how tense you were.

You nodded. "Yes please..."

As soon as the doctor left the room, you kicked the sheets off of you and headed towards the door. While you quietly locked it, you heard the conversation of the doctors outside.

"She said her name was Sky but there isn't a profile for her in the orphanage," You immediately the voice of your doctor.

"You think she's faking it?"

"That's my guess. She wouldn't give me her surname too, if she has one."

"This isn't the last time something like this has happened."

"Is she a fugitive?"

"What should we do?"

"Quiet down. I say we call the police."

"Great, even humans are after me now," You grumbled as you tied the sheets in knots, hopefully making it long enough for you to climb down the window.

K was right. As your journey to find the seven wonders started, you learned that you couldn't trust anyone, not even your pretty doctor.
