21. Devotion

You opened your eyes at the feeling of a heavy weight on your chest. Due to this, you had difficulty breathing and craned your neck upwards to check on the object, but was surprised when you saw nothing.

As you tried to stand but was held down by the invisible weight, you groaned loudly. You blinked once, twice, thrice and realized you were in a very familiar white room.

"Rise and shine, Sky. If that's how you humans say it."

You craned your neck upwards, seeing K staring back at you with blank eyes. Her coat was unbuttoned, revealing her purple arms and black undershirt. Her hood was down, silver hair stringy and loose.

"If you are wondering why this is happening once more," K interrupted before you could voice out your confusion. "You have not passed away and are merely in the dream world after you have lost consciousness."

Dream world? Lost consciousness? Before the confusion could hit you, you had a major flashback of the past events that took place. An explosion. Feathers on your face. Jungkook screaming.

Jungkook.

"He is fine," K muttered whilst you finally stood up, the weight on your chest disappearing. "Jungkook lost consciousness as well and broke one of his wings but he is fine."

You blinked, tears threatening to drip down your eyes. After finding out about Jungkook's condition, you felt guilty, thinking that it was all your fault. You were a guardian, yet you had failed to protect Jungkook and he became gravely injured instead.

Even when you have discovered your own supernatural abilities, you still felt helpless, only present to pull down everyone.

You started to procrastinate, squeezing your knees to your chest and tugging your hair, K staring at you with no emotion whatsoever. You did notice, however, that K actually looked slightly... sad?

What had happened?

A deep voice rumbled throughout the plain white room, cutting you out from your thoughts.

"Sky..."

You tilted your head slightly to the side in confusion and looked around, wondering why you could hear a male voice in a giant room where only you and K were present.

"I know that I haven't been the best person to you but... I-I'm sorry, okay? It's just... I'm not really good at expressing myself."

"I told you, did I not, Sky?," You stood up next to K and flinched a bit when you saw her smirking, her fangs poking out of her lips. "You are merely in dream land, a space within the dimensions, where I am free to converse with you. You can still hear what goes on in the real world."

You scratched your head, becoming hit by the ultimate level of confusion. Taking into account what K told you, it meant that something was speaking to you, even while you were unconscious, which you thought was strange. Smacking your lips together, you weighed your options to try to figure out who the voice's owner was.

"Again, I'm really sorry about all those times I've been mean towards you. I- I know that I'm a jerk but isn't it alright for me to say that I have my reasons?"

Although you were flustered by the person's words, you continued to investigate. Deep male voice. That automatically crossed out Jimin, Jin and definitely Emily off the list. Obviously, it wasn't Jungkook, who was also unconscious. Namjoon? You weren't even sure if he joined the team.

Thus, you were left with the one and only option: Yoongi.

What?

You turned towards K, her lips still curled up into a smirk. She put down her arms, hiding them behind her coat. "You're smart."

"I—"

"Listen, Sky," Yoongi's deep voice echoed in the room and you swallowed dryly, a bit anxious when you thought of his next words. Placing your hands over your chest, you wondered why Yoongi was telling such things, especially while you were supposedly asleep. "I... I'm such a coward, ya know? Telling you all this stuff while you're knocked out cold. I don't even know if you can hear me right now but, here it goes."

You took a deep breath, your heart pounding wildly. With the current pace Yoongi was going, it almost sounded like he was... confessing? It couldn't be, right? After all, as far as you knew, Yoongi wasn't of you or any of the other wonders in particular.

Still, the thought of receiving a confession made you extremely flustered. You were sure that you were already as red as a tomato by now.

"I adore you. I'm not sure that kind of explanation will get in that head of yours but I like you, okay? Sky, I... I know I'm mean to you and all but I like you. Like, like like you. Damn it, you get it, right?!," There was a long silence as your eyes widened and it only broke when Yoongi released a low chuckle. "Ugh, how do I say this? I love you, alright? You're just so beautiful, so kind, so... passionate. If I would spend my whole life with you..."

Dead silence filled the air while you absorbed Yoongi's words. I love you, he said. Yoongi was in love with you. Just saying it in your mind made your heart beat quicken its pace. You didn't understand how or why... You've only known Yoongi for months, yet something like this had developed.

This made you think of all the times you had spent with Yoongi. Since he was the first wonder you found, there were lots of scenarios where only the two of you travelled.

A war flashback took place in your head. All those times when Yoongi saved you, not even caring about his own well-being. Those rare times when he would joke around, even when it wasn't necessary. His blank face, overprotectiveness towards you and his cute gummy smile...

At that moment, you realized something very important.

You then felt something on your arm and yelped, relaxing when you realized that it was just K. "I see... you want to wake up now, yes?"

You swallowed hard. There was no way around it — you had to do it. "Yes please."

-

Yoongi took a deep breath, halting his speech. He was tightly clutching your hand, massaging your palm with his thumb. As he studied your face, Jimin's words echoed in his mind.

I'm just saying that you should tell Sky how you feel about her before it's too late.

When Yoongi entered the bedroom, his smile lit up when he saw your beautiful and peaceful expression, the blanket wrapped perfectly around your body. Then, he remembered why you were unconscious in the first place, and his smile dropped and became a frown.

Yoongi hadn't spoken to Namjoon ever since he joined the gang and he wasn't planning to do so for a long time. He was angry with him, blaming him for your current condition... but, at the same time, he wished he was there to protect you. He wished that he could substitute you and take all the pain instead.

The next few minutes was a blur. Now, here Yoongi was, pouring out his feelings while you were asleep, not even sure if you could hear what he was saying. He felt like a coward due to his actions but he figured if he didn't confess now, he would never be able to.

"I'm such an idiot for loving you so much, Sky, even though we've only known each other for such a short amount of time," Yoongi sighed, leaning gently on your stomach while staring at your face. He reached out for your hair, twirling it between his fingers.

Yoongi closed his eyes, smiling, feeling relieved that he had finally released his emotions. He could hear you breathing softly, which sounded like music to his ears. It didn't matter if you heard it or not, what matters is that he told you.

"And I'm such an idiot for not realizing it sooner."

There was a moment of silence before Yoongi opened his eyes. You were staring at him with a small smile, and his heart skipped a beat at how beautiful you were, even with your swollen face and puffy eyes.

Yoongi cleared his throat, releasing himself from you, and crossed his arms, trying to pretend that nothing happened. "Good. You're finally awake, Cloud—"

"I heard everything you know," You giggled, making Yoongi freeze. "I was asleep, not dead."

A blush creeped on Yoongi's cheeks when he realized what he had just done. He covered his face with a hand, trying to process what you just said. You were just staring at him, which made him assume what your answer was.

So, Yoongi shifted in his seat and attempted to stand, his heart shattering in his chest, but he paused when you pulled him by the arm.

"Stay here," You whispered softly.

Yoongi chewed his lip and for the first time in so long, he felt like crying. Whether it was the fear of getting rejected or just plain anxiousness, he wasn't sure, but he wasn't ready for it. Unintentionally, his voice cracked when he spoke: "If you're going to reject me, you better tell me now. I don't want any false hope... please."

There was a deadly silence afterwards and Yoongi had to bite his lip to prevent himself from sobbing. He knew it. He knew that someone as obnoxious as him wasn't deserving of such a kind-hearted girl like yourself. He was willing to accept it, to be frank. He wasn't good enough, never was.

Yoongi felt a hand on his shoulder and turned around with glossy eyes, seeing you standing there with a smile. You were so beautiful, like an angel.

You raised an eyebrow. "I didn't say that I was going to reject you, did I?"

Yoongi blinked, trying to absorb your words. He couldn't believe it, did you really say that? He was speechless, he had already planned out his next words after hearing you say the dreaded no but now... he didn't even know how to react.

Was he happy? Yes. Was he in denial? Double yes. Did he feel like the happiest man in the world, swimming in the clouds and listening to doves sing? Triple yes.

Then, Yoongi's eyes flicked towards your lips, which looked so pink, so soft and so... kissable. His throat turned dry and he suddenly had the urge to claim those lips as his.

"Can I kiss you?," Yoongi's mouth released those words before he can even think them through. His eyes widened when he realized what he just said. "I mean—"

Yoongi was cut off by a pair of lips.

The kiss was gentle, like flower petals brushing his cheeks, sending sparks down Yoongi's body. It was short, yet sweet and your taste lingered on his lips. He cupped your cheeks, savoring the sugary delicacy, until you pulled away with a smile.

A few moments were spent with the two of you just staring into each other's eyes. Yoongi was drowning in the pools of your brown eyes, which were shining and full of life. He couldn't believe that the girl he loved so much was standing in front of him, willing to love him back as well.

Suddenly, something inside Yoongi snapped. He was hungry.

You yelped when Yoongi pulled you by the waist and crashed his lips onto yours. He was nearly growling, mouth parting until he nearly swallowed you whole. It was so intense that you held onto his shirt, even though you were matching his pace.

Yoongi pulled away while taking deep breaths when he heard your back slam on the wall. He looked at you from head to toe, noticing how your lips were swollen and eyes wide in shock. "I... I'm sorry."

"No," You shook your head softly, taking deep breaths as well. Yoongi stared as you held both of his hands, the warmth of your touch making him blush. "It's okay."

Yoongi couldn't help but embrace you, burying his face at the crook of your neck. He tightened his hold and slowly whispered three words at your ear.

"I love you."

And at this moment, Yoongi decided that he was never going to let go of you.

"I love you too."

"Why do I feel like I'm missing out on something big?," Emily, who was standing in front of the window and staring at the night sky, asked herself while stroking her chin.

Jin sighed and leaned on his seat, staring at the ceiling. He was sitting next to Jungkook's bed after he had just finished healing him and to be frank, he felt drained. Literally.

Turning to the side, Jin stared at Emily's back and observed her figure. Remembering that she was three years younger than him, he turned away, scolding himself internally. Emily is a minor, Jin reminded himself multiple times, don't have any unnecessary thoughts.

But still, Emily was a lady. A beautiful one, in fact.

"You look stressed," Jin was snapped back into reality when Emily started to walk towards him. He avoided her gaze, staring at Jungkook's unconscious body instead. He felt a pair of small hands on his nape while he studied the feathers on Jungkook's wings, flinching out of shock. "Hey, it's okay, I'm just massaging your neck."

A groan of pleasure rang out of Jin's throat while Emily continued to massage his neck. He looked up, seeing her face from a different angle. "You're like an expert."

"I used to massage Sky all the time. She gets stressed so much it's actually hilarious," Emily chuckled, then her smile dropped in an instant.

"You're worried about Sky," Jin said after staring at Emily's solemn expression for a while. He held her hand to comfort her, halting her massaging routine. "Emily, you should go check on her."

"But I don't want to leave you," Emily's eyes widened and she looked like she wasn't really planning on saying that.

Jin smiled to himself when he pretended that he didn't hear, watching Emily sign in relief with much amusement. She was cute, like a little kid, especially with her round rosy cheeks, which was one of the reasons why he was so fond of her.

Wait, what?

Jin shook his head wildly. He started to scold himself once more. Emily is a minor, damn it! Emily is a minor, she's a minor, she's

"Hey, Jin," Emily whispered and rested her chin on Jin's head, the latter freezing at how close they were, literally. "You know... you're like the older brother I never had. Thanks for being so kind, not just to me but to all of us."

Jin shouldn't have been hurt by those words, really, and he was actually flattered by how Emily described his kindness. Still, hearing the words older brother made his heart ache. He was expecting to hear something else, something more.

But what?

The door slammed open before Jin could continue to question himself, revealing Yoongi with frizzled hair and swollen lips. His cheeks were tinted pink and the collar of his shirt was loose, making both Emily and Jin stare in confusion.

Jin already had an idea of why Yoongi looked like this, making him smirk.

"Sky," Yoongi was taking long and deep breaths, leaning on the doorway to support himself. He looked like he had just ran through a storm and was extremely tired. "Sky is awake."

In the blink of an eye, Emily had pushed aside Yoongi and was out of the room.

As another door slammed, Yoongi sighed and leaned on the wall, doing his best to fix his messy hair.

Jin stared at Yoongi, a sly smile growing on his face. "I guess things with Sky got a little... heated."

Yoongi's eye twitched while Jin bent backwards and laughed at his own (unnecessarily cringe-filled) joke. The window-wiping sound echoed for a few minutes before he calmed down, wiping his teary eyes until they were dry.

"On a serious note," Jin rapped out when he noticed that Yoongi's hand was coated in red hot flames. "I guess you took our advice and confessed to her. With the way you look right now, I can only assume that things went well for the both of you."

Before Yoongi entered your room, he was desperately asking Jin and Jimin what he should do about his feelings for Sky, and both of them told him to just tell her before things go downhill.

Yoongi turned away, cheeks still flushed and lips pouting. Although there was a small smile on his face and it looked like he was thinking of something. Jin blinked, never even thinking that he would see Yoongi acting all cute. "It's not like we're official or anything..."

"If making out intensely to the point of having swollen lips is your opinion of not being an official couple, then I won't judge you," Jin snickered and crossed his legs, Yoongi blushing furiously at his comment.

"Shut up, Blondie," Contrary to his words, Yoongi was smiling as well, biting his bottom lip in hopes to hide it.

And for a fact, Jin wondered what it was like to have a girlfriend too.

-

The air was cold and soft, lightly hitting Namjoon's cheeks. He was sitting outside, on a wooden bench, his toes halfway into the sand. He was leaning on the headrest, staring at the beautiful night sky.

At the same time, Namjoon was twirling his fingers, sand fluttering just above his hand. After staring at the sand and realizing that it was component of soil, he experimented and discovered that he could control it as well.

Namjoon shivered because of the cold air, only wearing a thin shirt and pants to cover his body. As he rubbed his shoulders, the warmth he needed reminded him of Yoongi, who, strangely enough, has been avoiding him.

Jin and Jimin were kind enough to accommodate Namjoon after he had decided to join the other wonders in their quest to save the world. He was even given a bedroom. Emily was too busy worrying about you to actually speak to him and he understood. But Yoongi... with all the glares and scoffs, it was obvious that he had something against Namjoon.

Namjoon shouldn't have been affected, really, but he felt out of place in the group. He thought that he was the only one who wasn't confident in his powers and after you and Jungkook were gravely injured, he felt like he wasn't even supposed to be here.

Releasing a loud sigh and seeing his own breath, Namjoon slumped in his seat, crossing his arms to at least warm himself. He wondered if it would have been better off for everyone if he stayed in jail instead. Yes, he missed the outside world, but still...

"Oh, so this is where you were."

Namjoon heard a voice just as he began playing with the sand once more. Jimin was running out of the house with quick steps, his feet tapping on the tiled stairs. He was wearing a thick grey hoodie and a red beanie, paired with brown ARMY boots and ripped jeans.

"I've been looking everywhere for you," Jimin made an eye-smile and pulled up his hood, stomping his feet lightly on the sand. He immediately frowned after staring at him for a while. "Why are you wearing that on such a cold night— Oh, oh! You can control sand too?! That's so cool!"

Jimin flew towards the bench, almost sticking to Namjoon like glue while he watched the beads of sand float in the air with big round eyes, contrary to his eye smile just a few moments ago. Namjoon flinched, feeling a bit uneasy at the closeness. "Uh, Jumin, was it? Please give me some space."

Jimin blinked before he scooted away, hugging his knees to his chest and pouting his plump lips. "It's Jimin. Funny, Jin nearly said the same thing."

"Jin?"

"You know, the tall guy with flawless skin, blonde hair, thick lips and has a strange yet cute interest in a minor—"

"Too much information."

Jimin laughed, which sounded light and calming. He spread his legs, kicking some of the sand in the air, and placed both hands on his stomach. "You feel left out, don't you?"

Namjoon faced Jimin, staring at his features before he coughed loudly. "What do you—"

"I was an actor, Namjoon. I can read people like their books in my own personal library," Jimin smirked and tapped his temple with a finger. "Don't worry about it, we're all in a mess right now but we're all very welcoming! Even stank-faced Yoongi, trust me. Just give him some time to open up."

Namjoon stared, a bit creeped out by Jimin's ability to read people. Setting that aside, he couldn't really believe that a small childish man like Jimin used to be a professional actor. "You were an actor?"

Jimin gasped dramatically, placing a hand over his heart, mouth ajar and eyes wide like two ceramic plates. Namjoon couldn't really tell if he was being sarcastic or not. "You don't know who I am?!"

Namjoon slowly shook his head, still hugging himself for warmth.

"I'm Jimin! The! Park! Jimin!," Jimin flailed his arms wildly in the air, which was a bit scary for Namjoon. "I was the lead star in Hwarang: The Beginning! I won a Grammy for my solo hit, Spring Day!"

"Nope, doesn't ring a bell, sorry Pork Jumin."

"It's Park Jimin, oh my God— You know what? I give up."

Jimin slumped on his seat, mimicking Namjoon's posture. He released a long sigh, his breath white in the cold air. There was a silence as the two stared at the sky, counting the shining stars. Namjoon traced them, trying to form a constellation, but only coming up with a shapeless figure.

"How do you do it?," Namjoon whispered after failing to form the Big Dipper.

Jimin faced Namjoon, his neck aching a bit due to his position. "How do I win awards? Joon, it takes a lot of hard work and—"

"No, I meant dealing with this," Namjoon raised his arms, trying to gesture towards everything in particular — the whole situation, suddenly living with strangers, etc. — but it only looked like he was waving his arms absentmindedly. "Being a wonder, having powers, forced to leave your old life behind and... moving on from the past."

Jimin chuckled and sat up straight, crossing his legs and tilting his head at the curious-looking Namjoon, who was still staring at the stars. He cupped his cheek with his hand, the eye smile returning. "You just have to accept it. It's as simple as it sounds. If it's God's will for this happen to you then so be it, there's nothing we can do and sulking won't get you anywhere. As for the past— think of it as a stepping stone. It will help you step up towards your future. Even if you slip down, you'll still land on another step. So, the past is there to help. Don't let it haunt you, no matter what happened before."

Jimin inhaled after his speech, Namjoon staring back at him with a new perspective towards his current situation. He was right, no matter how much he regrets accidentally killing his family, there was nothing he could do. There was no use blaming himself. "Wow, that's—"

"Also!," Jimin suddenly shouted, making Namjoon yelp out of shock. He pointed at Namjoon's face, wearing a toothy smile. "Do you have a girlfriend?"

Namjoon blinked and instinctively moved away from Jimin. "I'm sorry but I'm not gay."

"Wait, what?," Jimin tapped his own chin before he realized what Namjoon got from his words. "Oh, hell no! I was asking because I wanted to form the Single Men Club with you!"

Namjoon sighed in relief, then he squinted his eyes after processing Jimin's words. "Single... Men Club?"

"The name is obvious enough. I'm inviting you because we both have non-existent love lives! I was going to drag Yoongi in but just a few hours ago, he confessed to Sky and had an intense make-out session with her—"

"Again, too much information."

Before Jimin could spill more details about his imaginary club, a third voice rang: "Guys."

Jimin turned around first, springing out of his seat at the sight. Namjoon raised an eyebrow before following his gaze, seeing Jin standing in front of the door wearing a polo shirt and blue jeans.

"Jungkook is awake."
