10. Water

Jin could only say one thing: "What the hell?"

Jin was confused, since he woke up, even though he was sure that he had already died. It didn't help that water, which had somehow gotten into the room, was surrounding him. He looked down at his stomach, expecting to see a big bloody hole, but instead saw his own skin, which was exposed by his ripped shirt.

With wide eyes, Jin poked his own stomach, wondering if he was looking at an illusion or not. Then, he noticed the gem of his necklace, which was usually grey but was now glowing bright blue with a foreign letter engraved into it. Water.

Jin then remembered that he had a mirror in his room, so he faced it and surprised himself. His normally dark eyes were as blue as his gem and he just noticed that the water surrounding him was now dancing around his fingers, which completely defied the laws of physics.

For a while, Jin just sat there and watched the water snake around his hand, his head slightly tilted to the side, just like a child watching a circus show. He then raised his hand, the water floating above him in a circular form. He opened up his palm, the water gathering over his hand and turning into a water ball.

Jin had no idea why he knew how to control water, as if he was used to it, as if he always did it. He then remembered Yoongi, who could control fire, and had a similar red gem.

What was going on?

Jin was snapped out of his thoughts when he heard a roar from the hallway. He remembered Sam, who was taken over and was now a monster, which made him grit his teeth.

With blue eyes full of determination, Jin stood up, his fists balled. The water around him started to float, which was a reaction towards his anger.

Jin knew what he had to do.

-

Yoongi was having a difficult time against the monster and it didn't help that he had an injured leg. His flames didn't affect the monster at all, as if it was immune, but he didn't want to think that way.

You, on the other hand, were still trapped in a tentacle and was being thrown around like a sack, which gave you the sensation of throwing up.

"K, help me—," You stopped yourself when you felt your lunch crawling up to your throat and put both of your hands over your mouth.

"I can only do so much and heal you, Sky," K said with a flat tone. "I'm dead, non-existent, only present in your mind. I can't use my magic on anything else but you."

"Then, give me strength or something!," You flailed around, ducking when Yoongi accidentally threw a fireball at you. "Hey!"

"Sorry, Cloud!," Yoongi screamed from below as he shot more fireballs, which just bounced off the monster's skin as if they were rubber balls.

"You're a guardian, Sky," K spoke after a moment of silence. "There's a reason why you were chosen."

Your eye twitched. "What the hell do you mean?!"

"Think about it."

Jin's house was made of wood, so some of Yoongi's flames had set the walls on fire. Yoongi was unaffected by this but you, however, were starting to have trouble breathing.

Yoongi was frustrated since he couldn't do anything to help you at the moment. When a tentacle tried to slap him, he slashed it with his claws, cutting off the tip, making the monster scream.

But the tentacle just regenerated.

"Damn it," Yoongi tried to run under the monster and burn it from the bottom, but there was a loud snap from his leg, which made him stop.

Due to all the pressure, the joint of Yoongi's leg had finally given up, the bone snapping in half completely. He leaned on the wall and clutched his leg in pain. He couldn't walk, which was bad.

The monster smirked, knowing that Yoongi had nowhere to run, and raised a tentacle, which grew spikes.

Yoongi gritted his teeth as his eyes glowed orange, flames still present in his hands. He was ready to fight, even when he knew he was at a disadvantage.

Suddenly, water started to crawl on the walls, putting out the flames that was cutting off your oxygen supply. The long hallway started to be filled with water, which was strange, since it was impossible for water to move on its own.

From your view, you could see the source of the water, which made you grin in both disbelief and amusement. "No way..."

Yoongi raised an eyebrow in disgust as water started to flow below his feet. Since he beared the fire gem, it was natural for him to dislike water. "What the—"

Jin had slid on the water, just like a surfer, and pushed Yoongi out of the way, cutting him off, right before the spiked tentacle could skewer him. He used the water to break their fall as they both rolled around the ground.

Yoongi clutched his leg as Jin walked towards him, concern written all over his face. "It took a while for you to activate your gem."

"You knew about this?," Jin questioned, the gem of his necklace in his hand. He glanced back at Yoongi, who was just shaking his head with a small smirk.

"We can chat later. Right now, there's a monster that has Cloud and it's trying to kill us."

"Her name is Sky, though."

"I know."

Jin glanced behind him and stared at the monster, which was looking at the water in confusion. It was still wearing Sam's butler suit and he could see a bit of his hair through the pale purple skin that was taking up his face.

Despite all that happened, Jin still believed that Sam was alive and all that he needed to do was to get rid of the monster that was taking over his body.

Yoongi groaned in pain, which caught Jin's attention, making him turn around. He stared at the water flowing down at his arms, an idea suddenly popping up in his head.

Jin gently held Yoongi's injured leg, which made the latter flinch out of both pain and shock. "Stay still."

"H-Hey, what are you—"

Water started to crawl up Yoongi's leg, which made him panic, since he unconsciously had a fear of water. Jin did his best to calm, rubbing Yoongi's arm for comfort.

Yoongi paused when the water covering his injury started to glow. There was a slight sting from his wound, then the glow faded, his knee feeling much better. The same thing had happened to his arm and he stared at it with wide eyes.

Jin nodded with a smile, when Yoongi glanced at him, his mouth slightly agape due to shock of what just happened. "Thank me later."

Yoongi smirked a bit, as Jin offered his hand and helped him stand. "I guess you're not that useless, after all."

Jin raised an eyebrow, about to question Yoongi's words, when he heard you scream.

"Guys, a little help?!," You shouted as he swung around, the monster roaring and heading towards both Yoongi and Jin.

"The plan?," Yoongi said as he summoned a fireball, his hands now claws and the scales present on his face.

"It's simple," Jin glanced at Yoongi as water floated around behind him. He played with the liquid that was flowing down his fingers. "You get Sky and I'll bring back Sam."

Yoongi stared at Jin and saw his blue eyes filled with determination, something he knew he lacked. Jin was the type of person who had a strong sense of belief, exactly the opposite of Yoongi, who was willing to give up at any moment.

And at that moment, Yoongi knew why Jin was a wonder.

"...Besides controlling water, you can heal too," Yoongi said, his eyes on the monster, which was getting closer by the second. He stood in a fighting stance, flames rising from the ground around his feet. "Maybe you can heal Sam. You know, extract him out of the monster or something."

Jin stared at Yoongi for a while, shocked by his words, since just a few moments he was contradicing the idea. "Thanks... now go get Sky."

"With pleasure," Yoongi whispered as he shot out of flames from his palms, acting as his support as he flew in the air. He held onto a tentacle that was pierced through the wall, the slimy skin sizzling under his touch.

Yoongi swung towards another tentacle, the timing just right, since he was almost stabbed. He landed on the base of the tentacle that was above you, smirking at the noises you were making.

You were still struggling when Yoongi suddenly appeared, hanging upside down from above, giving you a fright. "How's it going, Cloud? I'm just hanging around, as you can see."

You rolled your eyes at Yoongi's lame joke as he snickered. "Whatever, flame head. Just get me down."

Meanwhile, Jin was on the ground, creating pools of water around the monster's feet. If there was one thing he noticed, it was that the monster had a subtle fear of water, not as much as Yoongi, but it was present.

The monster stabbed its seemingly infinite number of tentacles to the ground, following Jin in a pattern as he slid across the water. He was honestly weirded out by his own actions, since he has never surfed or swam in his life, yet right now, he was doing it automatically... as if it was built in his system.

Jin paused and stood in front of his family portrait, which was burnt by Yoongi's flames, completely erasing his own face and leaving behind his parents'. He looked around him and saw the burnt walls of the hallway, including the water that was flooding all the rooms. The mansion already had so much damage that he was sure it would collapse at any moment.

In that moment of distraction, a tentacle had pierced through the side of Jin's waist, which made him shout a bit in pain. He turned around swiftly, slicing the tentacle in half with some water, which he somehow materialized into something sharp, like a water slicer.

Jin healed himself as he balled his fists, his blue eyes locked on the monster, which was trying to break through the mansion's ceiling.

The monster had taken Sam and destroyed the mansion, one of the only things that Jin had left in his life... and it was going to pay.

Yoongi used his claws to slice the tentacle wrapped around and caught you before it could regenerate. He threw upwards and you landed on his back perfectly, which made you cling onto him like a koala because of how up the two of you currently were.

"Hold on tight," Yoongi warned before he slid down a tentacle, causing you to scream, which honestly hurt his ears. He clawed his way through the mass of tentacles, hoping that he could get you to safety.

However, a spiked tentacle had torn Yoongi's jacket, causing you to lose his grip and fall off his back. You landed on the tentacle below, barely being able to hold on before falling to the ground.

"Cloud!," Yoongi clicked his tongue, a huge gash on his cheek, which healed instantly upon contact with Jin's water. He tried to get to you but too many tentacles were heading towards him and he had no choice but to stay put while shooting out flames. "Jin, get her!"

Jin nodded and ran, just when you lost your grip on the slimy tentacle. He slid across the ground and caught you right on time, carrying you bridal style.

You stared at Jin's face, thinking about how good he looked with blue eyes (which you thought was very inappropriate at the moment), as he set you down at the other end of the hallway, away from the monster and all the dancing flames.

"Stay here," Jin whispered and knelt down, touching your arm, making the water crawl over your wounds and heal them. "You'll be safe here."

You nodded as Jin ran and bounced off a wall, cutting multiple tentacles with his water slicers. He landed next to Yoongi. their backs on each other's, flames and water shooting out from their palms.

You hugged your knees and stared at the two in awe, since it was like watching a real live action movie. At the same time, you were disappointed in yourself, since you couldn't do anything to help and always needed saving.

Yes, you were a guardian, chosen to gather the seven wonders and save the world... but why did you feel so useless?

"Don't think like that, Sky," K was trying to comfort you but you couldn't really feel it, since her voice had no bit of emotion. "You found them and brought them together. You discovered two out of the seven wonders in a week. Don't feel so useless."

"But I just add weight to the situation," You ducked when a fireball was thrown at you again, glaring at Yoongi, who was shouting an apology. "They always need to save me. Can't I help?"

"...You can, actually."

"What? I'm just a human, how can I help?"

"You're not a human, Sky, you're a guardian."

K's words made you pause and think. Was she telling you that you weren't human? That you had powers, just like Yoongi and Jin? It seemed farfetched, but with all that's happened the past few weeks, you couldn't help but think it was actually possible.

Before you could question K, you heard something hiss near your feet and was horrified when you saw the mutating insect staring at you with its beady eyes.

You didn't dare to move as the insect crawled up your ankle. Slowly, you pulled out the pocket knife in your pocket and pulled out the blade.

The insect pounced at you, obviously aiming for your back. You struggled as it tried to claw your face, both Yoongi and Jin being too busy to notice.

Finally, you were able to throw the insect a certain distance and stood in a fighting stance, knife ready. Your smirk faded when more insects appeared around the one that attcked you.

Obviously, you were outnumbered and a small pocket knife couldn't defend you.

Suddenly, you felt a strange power surge through your limbs. You noticed something glow from your hand and noticed that there was a symbol branded into your skin. Guardian.

A purple glow surrounded your knife, before the blade elongated, the handle wrapping around your hand perfectly. Your eyes widened as you stared at the katana you were now holding, its sheath appearing on your back, the strap going across your chest.

You caught your reflection through the katana's blade and saw your own eyes, which were now white. You glanced at the symbol on your hand again, your head spinning due to shock.

"I told you, didn't I, Sky? You're not a human, you're a guardian."

"I-I've never held a katana before—"

"You know what to do."

You nodded, hesitantly hovering the katana just above the tip of your nose. Maybe it was like Yoongi and Jin, you thought, you didn't know what to do but yet, you did.

When an insect pounced on you, you swung the blade, perfectly cutting the insect in half. You kept swinging as all the insects started to move, swiftly slaying them all in one move. Soon, all the insects were gone and you didn't even break a sweat.

You stared at the corpses of the insects, surprised by your own actions. It was like an adrenaline rush ran through you as you held the blade and you just... knew what to do.

You glanced behind you, Yoongi and Jin still dancing around in flames and water. You smirked, finally, you were going to help.

Yoongi collapsed, completely out of breath, but still forced himself to fight. His flames were now weaker and his claws were gone, so Jin stood in front of him to protect him.

"This... this is ridiculous," Yoongi was taking deep breaths while clutching his chest. "Why isn't this... this thing running out of tentacles?!"

Jin didn't reply, since he himself was starting to tire out. The truth was, there were only a few tentacles but they kept regenerating, making it seem there was an infinite amount of them.

Out of the blue, all the tentacles around the two were sliced in a matter of seconds. Jin nearly fell off the tentacle out of shock but he was even mor surprised when you came into view.

Yoongi stared as well, his eyes wide as you clutched the katana. You locked onto him with his white eyes and smirked at the flustered state he was in.

"What?," You shrugged, glancing at both Yoongi and Jin. "I'm a guardian, remember?"

You swung your katana before a tentacle could hit Jin but you weren't able to see the one behind you, which was aiming for Yoongi.

Yoongi, who was still catching his breath, was hit right at the nape, causing him to lose his balance and fall off the tentacle. You screamed as he fell, Jin making a pool of water below to hopefully brake his fall. However, he landed on his back, which was extremely painful, ceasing him from any movements. It didn't help that he was surrounded by water.

Jin glanced back at the monster, all thoughts of him being Sam flying out at the window in that very moment. He raised his hand, the water in the swimming pool starting to bubble. "Sky, get Yoongi to high ground."

"Wha—"

"Now."

Feeling a bit terrified by Jin's expression, you jumped off the tentacle and perfectly landed on the ground, right next to Yoongi. He was already healed by the water but at the same time, he felt weaker because of it.

You helped Yoongi stand and supported him as you two ran to the stairs, slicing incoming tentacles while doing so. From the corner of your eye, you saw water from the swimming pool outide, which was rising.

Jin gritted his teeth as he concentrated, his eyes and gem glowing even more. However, his concentration broke when a tentacle wrapped around his ankle and dragged him across the ground, before raising him upside down.

The quick action almost made Jin puke and he wasn't flexible enough to reach for the tentacle around his feet. He tried to use a water slicer but paused when he became face to face with the monster.

"Sam," Behind the beady black eyes of the monster, Jin could see his butler staring back at him in fear and confusion. He knew was in there. He believes it. "It's me, Jin. I know you can hear me. Whatever this thing is doing to you, fight it. Fight it and come back... please."

For a moment, the monster just paused and tilted its head. Jin smiled, knowing that Sam really was in there, listening to him. He calmed down, the water of the pool turning stagnant once more.

Both you and Yoongi were watching from the second floor, a small smile on your face while Yoongi stared in fascination, since Jin didn't even show any sign of being afraid.

Jin's smile faded when the monster started to smirk. Then, it spoke in a distorted voice, which sounded like a mixture of a million screaming souls: "Sam is no longer here."

A spiked tentacle had attempted to stab Jin in the chest but a water slicer cut before it could. Now, Jin was angry. Sam was gone and he couldn't do anything about it.

Jin's fists balled as he started to grow fangs, the water from the pool rising again because of his anger. His now scaly hands, which had long sharp nails and were webbed, like a frog's, reached up to the tentacle, which melted upon contact.

Instead of landing on the ground, Jin bounced and tackled the monster by its neck. At the same time, water —
both from the fountain and swimming pool — burst through the walls, moving based on his orders.

Yoongi wobbled a bit at the sight of so much water and you had to stand behind him to prevent him from falling.

Jin screamed a battle cry as he flicked his free wrist, the water forming into a giant bubble, submerging both him and the monster in it. The water bubble was floating in mid-air, preventing anything from going in or out.

"Jin!," You screamed in worry, attempting to jump up from the railings but was stopped by Yoongi, who pulled the hem of your jacket. "Let go of me."

"Sky, don't," Yoongi shook his head and you raised an eyebrow at him for calling you by your name. "You won't be able to get in there. Even if you do, you'll drown."

"Better me than him," You shrugged off Yoongi's arm and glanced at the water bubble again, trying to calculate where you would land if you jumped from where you were. "I'm a guardian. It's my job to protect you, Jin and the rest of the wonders we have yet to find."

Yoongi stared at you for a while, unsure if he was glad or angered at how you were willing to risk your life for seven people you barely knew. Then, he sighed and pointed at the bubble. "Jin won't drown. Look."

You followed Yoongi's glance and you had to squint your eyes to see what he was trying to show you.

Jin was moving around inside the water bubble, choking the monster with his hands, his fangs bared as he screamed. You stared at him with wide eyes because he looked like he could... breath.

"I-Is he—"

"I think it's one of his abilities," Yoongi laughed a bit, still amazed at how supernatural powers exist and that he was one of those who had the power to control them. "He can breath underwater."

The water bubble suddenly popped, splashing both you and Yoongi, as the monster fell on the ground with a thud. Jin had lowered himself with the water, so he had landed safely.

Jin stepped towards the monster's limp body for a while, then he kneeled down, gently holding the fabric of Sam's butler suit.

"Who are you?"

"I'm Sam, your new butler."

"Butler? Tch, I can't believe my parents hired you without my approval... I don't need a butler. I can handle myself, I'm not a three year old kid."

"Not needing me was the very reason why I was hired, Master."

Jin stared at the ground as he cried, biting on his lips as he sobbed quietly. His hands turned back to normal, so he dug his nails into his jeans, the monster's body slowly turning into ash and fading.

You walked towards Jin and gently held his shoulder, hoping that it would at least comfort him. Yoongi was standing behind you with crossed arms, his face emotionless. "I'm sorry, Jin..."

"...I couldn't save him," Jin wiped his tears with the back of his hand before standing up, his back facing you and Yoongi. "But... that's all in the past. We should get going before the mansion collapses. I've got some motorcycles in the garage that each of us can use."

You honestly were a bit worried at how Jin was taking the situation so calmly but you assumed that he just needed a little time to absorb everything that was happening.

"Wait, you're just going to leave?," This time, Yoongi stepped forward, standing at an angle where he could see Jin's tear-stained face. Seeing this unconsciously softened him. "Your parents... won't they be worried sick when they come home to a wrecked house and no son?"

"...With these circumstances, they'll most probably think that I died," Jin glanced at the burned portrait once again, his face gone, leaving behind only his mother and father. This, to him, was a sign that he was doing the right thing. "It's for the best."

"Jin... are you sure that you want to give up this life and come with us? You don't have to if you don't want to..."

Yoongi gave you look for saying those words but you waved your hand at him, gesturing that you knew what you were doing.

Jin glanced up at the burned walls of the hallway then down at the soaked carpets. The wind blew from the holes in the roof, making his bangs flow, revealing his eyes, which were no longer blue.

With pursed lips, Jin held the gem of his necklace. Honestly, he was unsure of leaving his comfortable yet unhappy life, but after finding out about his powers, he knew that there was something more to him than being a politician's son.

"Saving the world has it's consequences, doesn't it?," Jin glanced at both you and Yoongi, a small smile on his face. He started walking towards a hole in the wall before looking over his shoulder. "Let's go."

-

"Have you found the darkness gem, yet?"

The bearer of the light gem was sitting on the same rooftop where he had a chat with him, his wings freely flapping around, both his legs hanging at the edge. Hovering above his hand was a small ball of light, which served as a projection for those far away who wanted to contact him.

Actually, the light bearer wasn't a human. He was a pure angel, son of the King of Hemel, the only currently living King in their planet. Unlike the six other kingdoms, Hemel lied about sending their gem to Earth and kept it, owned only by the King and his fanily.

Yes, that's right, the light bearer had gotten the gem from his father, the King of Hemel. He was a prince, soon to take over the throne... well, after the war ends.

His father's question made him think. He knew that telling him that he had found the darkness gem bearer would lead to him being hunted down and eventually captured... but honestly, he didn't want that to happen.

"...No, I have not, father," He chewed on his lip, feeling a bit bad for lying to his own father, but he knew that it was the best decision he could make.

His father stared at him for a while before he sighed deeply. "I understand, son. Please... notify me as soon as he is found. You know how heavy the consequences are if he is not found before that happens."

"I understand, father," The light bearer said as the hologram faded. He sighed and looked up at the sky, the white clouds making him smile, since his kingdom in Hemel had gone grey due to the war with Hel.

He stood up and jumped off the roof without hesitation, his wings carrying his weight perfectly, and did a few stunts as he flew around in the air. Of course, he made sure that he was high enough to not be noticed by the humans but also low enough to be in Earth's atmosphere.

Compared to Hemel, he had more freedom to fly, which was one of the reasons why he agreed to personally look for the gem of darkness instead of sending out troops. He closed his eyes and let out a scream of joy, spinning around, his highlighted hair flowing in the wind.

Then, he opened his eyes, nearly shrieking when he saw the plane that was too close. He stopped, right before he crashed into it, watching the plane as it passed by.

Slowly, the light bearer flew back to the rooftop, going to back to the same position he was but this time, he folded his wings. He mentally cursed himself for almost causing a disaster and decided that he wouldn't be flying for a while.

"...Ik vertrouw je, lieveling," He said after remembering his conversation with the darkness gem bearer, who he thought of as a friend, although the darkness bearer himself thought otherwise. He glanced up at the sky again, which had the same blue color as his eyes. "I'm hoping that agreeing with your plan was the right decision."

He didn't think of what would happen if the plan ever failed, which was a mistake.
