Roger - Beauty And Bounty (Part 1)
The land of Rainbow is lush and green.
A drop of dew landed on the moist and fertile soil.
Under the moot point of conflict between the six cities, Rainbow is still thriving.
The original residents of Rhye's smallest kingdom are the fairies.
They are all gifted with good physical features and a golden voice.
Golden mane and deep hue of ocean colored eyes and deep garnet ones.
The original fairies of Rainbow had these qualities with an addition of a pair of almost transparent wings that resembles the wings of a firefly, when hit by the rays of sunlight, they give different arrays of colors.
Their longivity is far stretched compared to any other creatures living in the land.
Some of them managed to live for a thousand years and even more.
I'm talking about that one winged fairy that has been living inside the castle hidden in the deep ravines of Budapest for nearly two thousand years.
She is one of my original creations in the land of Rhye.
Quite cunning but an absolute aloof and also had an utmost hatred to every human in the land.
I heared, she banished every human who used to live in the castle.
The Garden Lodge.
Freddie's last vestige was seen within the walls of that castle.
Oh dear.
I'm trailing off, bloody hell.
I am quite famished you know, I tend to talk a lot when my sugar level is low.
Now carry on.
Unfortunately, through the course of time, these traits diminished. The gift I gave them when I was just creating them slowly vanished into thin air.
Their wings vanished.
Of course, they are still the perfect mimicry of my beauty.
They are also bestowed a special gift or in their perspective it is more of a curse - the gift of healing.
They are able to heal minor wound or a simple fever but never on par with my healing capabilities.
They're all lovely creatures, a stark contrast to Freddie's hideous creations which are the humans.
I swear, they're like plague of epic proportions.
I prefer those smelly moss colored, one-eyed ogres living in the treacherous One-Way-Mirror Mountain on Bodukan.
I know it from the center of my bones that our strict rule that no fae gods would interfere in anyway with our creations but I wouldn't dare leave them helpless in the midst of peril.
For nearly a millenia, countless war broke between the warring kingdoms.
Because of their healing capabilities, humans extracted my peace loving fairies out of their homes to aid them to their battles in exchange of loot of gold or proper roof above their heads.
That is saddest part of it.
Rainbow is supposed to be the richest land in Rhye.
My powers waned so hard that I cannot provide proper riches to my own land, to prevent it from further misery, I never left this land except for some important instances.
Humans are the most destructive things ever created.
Probably more powerful that Brian's Red Special.
I always question myself why Freddie made them what they are.
Ah, yes, Freddie is the serial culprit. One day, he vanished without a trace. Leaving all three of us in disarray.
John is even making it harder, he hid himself from us and even making it furthermore hard to comprehend and control everything that was left behind.
Countless innocent fairies has been killed in the frontline and because of their attractive features, they are captured and held as prisoners and sold as entertainers.
Over the past centuries, their population plummeted to a dangerously low level and the surviving members were forced to scatter and hide across the seven seas.
All these pointless conflict.
Such a shame, I am supposed to save my land but here I am, contemplating about my whole miserable life.
Where did our dear friend go?
Without his Bohemian Rhapsody, the balance will always tip-off and our prowess and powers will never suffice.
I miss him so much and I wonder if the two boys are feeling just the same.
I'm tired of living, ahem, existing without any point at all.
I slapped my leg and scratched a bit.
I'm overly sensitive to anything nowadays.
"Damned insect." I muttered.
Right now, my mission is to protect my people.
I act as a sort of spy going in and out of every kingdom in the land of Rhye with an exception to Budapest.
I am trying to find out what is happening around Odeon.
If my intels were right, the kingdom of The Black Queen is the capital of human trafficking and fairy extortion and is connected to every other untidy banquets.
I have to find it out myself what is going around the place.
The petrichor rises above the ground and inhaled a air-full of it into my lungs.
I am sitting on top of a tree for almost half an hour now.
I gently perched myself on a stable tree branch.
I squinted my eyes for any tell tale signs of any human presence beyond and stretched my hand over my head.
I wrapped my velvet cloak around me. The heavy rain just stopped and the sky over head is starting to clear into a light hue of grey.
"I have to get moving."
And with a gentle grunt, I jumped below followed by a soft thud.
From farway, a low hum can be heard. I kneeled down and lay my ear flat on the damp ground.
Horses and probably humans are fast approaching.
I can't tell how many but definitely a handful of war-loving mongerers.
I tread on thin ice here.
-------------
A week ago, I was surveying a human camp near the kingdom of Odeon.
My original plan is to take up Odeon's throne room for any clues but it's too risky, too many guards.
Well, not that I can't kill them, I badly want to strangle them and beat them into pieces but Freddie won't be able to forgive my nosy head and I don't want to expose myself.
So instead, I climbed up the west bastion of Odeon's fortress but unfortunately, before I can even lay out my plans, a young lad noticed my golden hair peeking out near the corner of the wall and he nearly shot me in the head with a crossbow.
I barely escaped.
They've been following me for days now. They're quite persistent.
I can't afford to be caught, I have one whole kingdom to save here.
With a sigh, I ran towards the thick forest.
They are fast approaching, I can hear them now.
Then I heard an ear splitting whistle behind me.
With a short draw of breath, a swish of breeze passed the side of my face.
An arrow darted a dead trunk beside me then followed by more soft thunk and then a rain of arrows flew in different directions.
One arrow made an appointment with lady luck and grazed my left thigh, leaving a small cut.
"There he is! Don't let him get away!"
A deep voice commanded from behind.
In my rough observation, they're atleast ten.
Three are riding horses, they're all behind me.
Three from my left and other three to my right, all of them equipped with crossbows.
"Oh vey, oh vey. This is bad." I muttered.
I need to think of something else.
I raised both of my hands above me.
"Okay, let me rest. I won't run. Just let me rest."
I said with a slight jest and wriggled my fingers.
"HOLD!"
The man with the deep voice commanded, well I assumed he's the leader since they all obeyed him.
He is atleast 6 feet tall.
With almond shaped eyes, wild and unruly shock of brown hair.
He looks so hideous.
I'm sorry, that's my brain speaking.
"Ah, golden hair and blue eyes." He exclaimed.
He touched my face with his finger and examined it with careful eyes.
"I think we just caught a big cod this time. You're a fairy aren't you?"
He pulled out a knife and placed it under my skin, the cold metal meeting my taut skin.
"What do you think?"
I flashed him a saucy smile.
"Answer me or your pretty face will know its rightful place."
Ah, taunting me now.
These humans are something else.
"I don't think you're in the right place to question me.
You should know your place human"
I answered.
The tall man's eyes flashed dangerously.
"Wha- How bold of you! How dare you speak to me like tha you half-wit spy. ANSWER ME!"
His spitting words cuts through like knife to butter.
"Yes, I am a fairy. There you go, you heard me.
Are you in a more prosperous mood now?"
"Tie him up."
Before I can protest, two lackeys whisked me behind away from that hideous gangly human.
"You slick cretin, after days and days of playing hide and seek, no matter how I want to twist your neck but how unfortunate of me, I can't touch you yet, the Black Queen will verdict your fate, fairy still, I can't wait to see the day when your head will roll beneath my feet."
He unsheathed his knife and smirked.
"You brought me too much ignominy to my soldiers and myself.
For sure, Zandra will hand me a heap of gold for your pretty head."
And then, I blurted an iniquitous laugh.
They all turned their head towards me.
"Is your pride weighs more than your own life?" I shrugged putting more venom into my words. "I bet you do."
"I beg your pardon?"
"I can give you a bag of silvers or a pound of gold if you want to."
Then his eyes flashed dangerously.
"Nothing. Just go with it. I am not in the mood for any putty arguments."
We walked and whisked our way outside the forest. The imminent rain is present due to the ash color that paints the sky.
The amber colored leaves littered the forest floor.
It feels like an eternity.
By the Heavens of Wembley, these creatures are slower than snails.
I took a long sigh and the guard behind me shot me a fiery glance.
"Where are you taking me?"
The lean and tall guy behind with a short black buzz cropped hair muttered under his breath.
"To Odeon. There will be a trial for you."
I stopped on my tracks.
"A trial? Of what sort? I haven't done anything bad just -" but before I can even finish my sentence that ugly tall man whirled towards me.
Before he can even speak anything in return, I saw a caravan near the river.
A beautiful young lady waved on our direction.
That must be their camp, I thought.
A small bonfire is prepared and several more knights went out of the small white tent not far from where we are standing.
The short black haired guy gestured that I should walk faster so I did.
He tied me to a post and left me there.
A handful of soldiers and walked towards me.
"Three pounds of silver and one pound of gold then the deal is off. We can never - "
I overheared them but my brain isn't focused since I got more important matters in mind.
The young lady I saw awhile ago appeared a few feet away from where I am standing.
She had this raven colored flowing black hair and big hooded brown eyes.
She scooped a bucket full of water from the river when she noticed my gaze on her.
I flashed her a smile and sang a little.
"I like the good things in life
But most of the good things ain't free"
At first, she was aghast and bugged her eyes then she smiled backed.
No humans can resist my voice.
I can wrap them around my fingers without breaking any sweat but not now, I'm on a mission and I'm rolling all the dice.
By the heavens, I winked at her direction and she gave me a giggle.
With a flushed face, she whisked her way inside the white tent.
This is way too easy, I'm telling you.
I'm out of here in no time, I'm going to hit two birds with one stone.
Foolish humans.
