VICTIM 9-PART 2
Song: Come Join The Murder by The White Buffalo & The Forest Rangers
"She isn't missing. She's at the farm right now."—Ed Gein
The long anticipated killing of my ninth victim was here. As you all know, in my confession I mentioned that I had killed nine women. Would this be my last victim? I had no idea. If the demons want more, I will grant their wish. Unless I can stop them, only in that circumstance will I stop killing. Well, except if the police stop me. Of that, I am not sure.
This victim does not hit close to home like my previous victim. Yes, she hates children, but that was not my main reason for picking her. This was a strong deviation from my usual victimology. Nevertheless, I was doing Jake Aaron, who is a good man, a favor. And at the same time, I was giving the demons what they wanted in order to shut them up.
Many news agencies were reporting about Olive Watson going missing. Perks of dating a multimillionaire. Even Jake offered a hefty sum of $250,000 to anyone who had information about his missing girlfriend. Heck, she hadn't even being missing for six hours. I'm sure he would be getting calls left, right, and center. People who got their eyes on the money but without any information are usually the ones who will call more, and they usually sound so sure of themselves.
He must have really loved her. Unfortunately, she was just after his money. I hope he is reading this. I want him to know that he did his best to love her. She just was not a good person.
Anyway, remember this was a daytime kidnapping, so I couldn't carry her body into my house. I left her in the trunk, but first I gave her a large dose that would knock her out for a long time.
As I waited for my neighbors to go to bed before bringing her in, I worked on my designs. I take my work very seriously. Designing is the only way I let loose. You know the way psychologists always say that who can read people by what they draw or write or the emotions they put in their art, that doesn't apply to me. Because when I design, I become someone different. Not the killer or the child seeking love. I let the art guide me. I think that's why the police can't catch me. Aside the basic things, it is hard to profile me.
However, the end is approaching. I might surrender, if they can't stop me. I'm tired of killing. And no, killing is not the tiring part. Finding the victim and all the preventive measures I take to avoid being caught is the hard part. I thought the chase would be fulfilling, but since there is no chase, I have grown tired. How long can I continue like this? Not for long, I assure you. Therefore, you all don't have to worry. The Midnight Killer will soon resign. But I know I have left my mark in this city. I won't be forgotten.
Okay, back to the victim of the day. Once the clock struck eleven p.m., I brought her down to the basement. I knew it wouldn't take long before she woke up, so I laid her on the table and tied her.
As if she read my mind, she stirred. Her eyes fluttered open.
"Holy shit!" she shouted when she saw me. "Who are you? Wait! You are Sean the driver." She tried to get up. "Why am I tied?"
A humorless laugh escaped my mouth. "Sean the driver? I have never been called that." I pouted, feigning hurt. I could feel her glare boring a hole into my skull.
"I don't care. Get me out of this or I will scream."
"Go ahead and scream. Just know that no one will hear you. This room is soundproof. Moreover, you don't really think I'm Sean, right? You can't be that dumb. You are tied to a table for Pete's sake."
Her eyes widened. "You kidnapped me? If it's money you want, my boyfriend is rich."
"The boyfriend you don't love?" I asked.
She glared. "If this is Jake's way of trying to find out if I love him, then he should know I love him."
"Wow, look at the lie sliding out of your mouth with ease," I said. She opened her mouth to reply but I hushed her. She glared harder. Her eyes threatened to pop out. Awe, princess, has no one ever shut you up before? "I didn't kidnap you for ransom. I'm going to kill you."
"You will what?" she shouted.
My eyes rolled skywards. "I tied you up; I didn't block your ears."
"Why would you kill me? I didn't do anything to you," she said, her voice shaky.
I shrugged. "I'm The Midnight Killer." I let the sentence hang in the air.
"Bu... but The Midnight Killer kills women that mistreat children."
"You hit a child that wanted to play with you and you removed your uterus. What does that say about you?" I asked,
"How did you know about that? The only person that knows is... Emilia! Did she put you up to this?"
I nodded, playing along. I was eager to see how she would react.
"I knew it! She has always been jealous of me. Now she wants me out of the way, so she can have Jake. Do you know she loves him? She thinks I don't see how she looks at him. All puppy-love eyed."
I massaged my forehead. I shouldn't have nodded. I would have to listen to her whine.
She continued yapping. "But Jake is stupidly in love with me. I just didn't think she would go this far to get rid of me. She has always being the good girl. The only reason I talk to her is because she is my cousin and she will do what I ask her to do. She wants to be like me. Moreover, Jake is a sucker for family. Whatever she is paying you, I will double it. No! Wait! Scratch that, I will triple it. Just let me go."
"You are vainer than I thought. I will take so much pleasure in killing you. To think Jake is offering money to anyone who has information about your whereabouts." I sneered. "I just haven't figured out how to kill you."
The light in eyes dimmed. Good. I want her to be scared.
"Please don't kill me," she begged.
How quick the mighty shall fall.
"Okay."
"You won't kill me?" she asked.
I nodded. "I won't."
She let out a deep breath; relief washed over her face. "You will let me go?" She smiled.
"No."
The smile changed to a frown. "What will you do to me?"
"I won't do anything to you," I said.
Her frown deepened. "You won't kill me, yet you won't let me go. What will then happen to me?"
I smirked. "You will kill yourself."
She gasped. "Like hell I will!"
"Oh, but you will." My smirk widened. "If you don't, I will disfigure you. I will cut off your tongue so you won't be able to talk. Then I will break all the bones in your hands beyond repair. After that, I will paralyze you. Finally, I will cut you so badly that it will leave nasty scars. Don't worry, I won't remove your eyes. I want you to see the look of disgust people will give you."
Tears streamed down her eyes.
I continued, "Jake will probably dump you in a hospital or home for the disabled and move on. Maybe he will even date your cousin? Then he will discover how she is a better person than you ever were, and go on to marry her while you will be in a home wasting away. Is that what you want?" I taunted her.
"Gosh, you are a sick bastard," she said.
"I don't care if you call me names. What is your choice? Will you kill yourself or should I put my words into action?"
"How would I kill myself? I'm tired up remember?" She wiggled her hands.
"Good choice. Don't bother trying to escape. I will just change my mind and disfigure you, and let's see how long you will last out there before you kill yourself eventually," I said.
I picked up a knife and loosened her right hand. As I was about to hand her the knife, I said, "Don't do anything stupid."
Her hands shook as she took the knife from me. More tears trickled down her face. "Please..."
"Go on. I don't have all night."
She hesitated for a minute before stabbing herself in her abdomen. She gasped.
"Another one."
She turned in my direction slowly. Her face was pale. She opened her mouth to say something, but words failed her. She stabbed herself in her abdomen again. This time she let out a loud cry and dropped the knife. She stared at the pool of blood, watching as she bled out. After about a minute, she dropped her head on the table. She stared at me, until her eyes finally shut.
There you have it. That is how the ninth victim died. I'm going to take a break and give the police time to find me. If they don't, then you will hear from me again.
