Chapter 2

The Captain Moxey and Lady Katherina are real boats.

2 weeks later, she gave birth to twin girls. She named one Shazelle, after her middle name, and the other Sharelle, after her mother's middle name. They were beautiful! Smooth chestnut skin. Brown hair. They were perfect as far as their mother and grandmother were concerned. They both had a fascinating feature about them. Their eyes were both brown, that's not what was so enchanting. It was the rim of Black around their iris'! At times it even seemed blue! No one had ever seen eyes like those before! You could only see it if you looked closely.

When the twins were only a week old, Dori started questioning her daughter on what her plans were:

"Honey, I think it's time you start thinking about settling down. You can stay here with me, and I'm sure you can find a nice paying job. While you are at work, I can take care of the babies."

"I don't know, Mommy."

"Please, it'll be better than living in an old dump in Nassau."

At that moment, Dave came into the dining room, where the 2 women were sitting. He was holding Sharelle in his arm, and pushing Shazelle in a stroller. There was silence as he sat down at the mahogany table. Dori and her daughter were in shock! Dave had never even touched the babies, now, he was holding them!

As if knowing they wanted answers, Dave said, "They woke up, I didn't know where you were so I dealed with them."

It was a surprise, a very welcomed surprise. Dori, Dave, and their daughter spent the next hour playing with Sharelle and Shazelle. Dave seemed to be quite taken with Sharelle, and she, him. That night was the beginning of a special relationship between Sharelle and her Grandaddy.

Dori enjoyed her daughter being home. Although she was not happy that her daughter had children at the tender age of 19, she didn't love her daughter or her grandaughters any less.

In fact, neither did Dave. He didn't get over what his daughter did 2 years ago, but he found out that he still loved her very much. Dave especially loved his new granddaughters. Both Dori and Dave had their favorite.

Dori had a special bond with Shazelle, and Sharelle and Dave were almost inseparable. Dori noticed how her daughter looked when they were playing with the babies. They would sometimes rather be with their grandparents than their mother. It wasn't a happy look.

When the babies were 6 months old, their mother made up her mind. She was leaving. And she wasn't carrying her babies.

2 main mailboats connected South Andros, Mangrove Cay, and New Providence. They are The Captain Moxey and The Lady Katherina. After dinner one Wednesday, she packed her bags and kissed her babies. As she was just about to open the back door to leave, her mother and father came out of their bedroom. She just stood there, one hand holding her bag and the other clutching the door handle. Her father was the first to speak. Slowly and calmly.

"You're leaving again."

"Yes." was the honest reply.

"Where are the babies?"

"Sleeping."

"Aren't you going to carry them?"

" I'm leaving them. With you."

Silence. It always makes you feel as if you have to fill it with something. Anything! That's when people start blabbering on and on. And that's precisely what she did.

"Well, I saw how much they love you, and, and, I can't stay here. I have to go back. I'll visit you when I can. And I'll send gifts, but I can't stay, I just can't. I love you, Daddy. I love you, Mommy. Tell my girls how much I love them and how much I'll miss them." she was fairly crying now. Then giving them one last look, she opened the door and walked away into the night.

She caught a ride to Drigg's Hill Dock and boarded The Captain Moxey mailboat to New Providence. She only visited twice. She did send gifts, which assured her parents that she didn't need money.

Her parents got into fights regularly after she left. These quarrels continued until they decided it would be best if they didn't live together. They loved each other too much to get divorced, so they just lived in different houses.

Dori stayed in her home in The Bluff while Dave moved to his late mother's home in Mars Bay. They both took one of the girls to live with them. Dori kept Shazelle and Dave kept Sharelle. They decided it would be easier if the girls didn't know about their twin or their mother. They told everyone not to tell either one of the girls anything about their twin or their mother (South Andros is tightly knit community).

Twice a month the girls would spend the weekend with the other grand parent. Dave and Dori made sure the girls didn't get suspicious of anyone else living in the house with them.

So that is how the girls lived for 10 years of their life. Until It was time for Highschool (well, Junior High).
