Chapter 10
Narrator POV
It was a bright and sunny morning as Izuku made his way to class. The events of the previous day were still fresh in his mind, particularly his conversation with Kyoka. He desires to strike up another conversation with Jiro but doesn't really know how to. As he walked through the busy hallways, he pondered over different ways to greet her, going through a mental list of possible greetings.
'Hi Jiro, how are you doing?' he said to himself. He quickly dismissed that one, 'No, too formal. Especially for someone as cool as her'
'Hello Jiro,' he considered next. It seemed a bit plain and lacked the energy he wanted to convey.
'What's up Jiro?' he thought, but then shook his head, it was too unnatural for him. His mom always tells him to be himself and that was most definitely not himself.
'Hey~' his heart fluttered slightly. That was too forward! Yeah he finds her attractive but there's no way he would say that to her. They just met!
Taking a deep breath, Izuku quietly shut down the last option and stepped into the classroom. His eyes immediately sought out Kyoka, who was sitting at her desk, writing something on her notebook or maybe she was drawing something? He wasn't quite sure. The sunlight streamed through the window, casting a soft glow on her, making her look even more captivating.
Kyoka's violet hair stood out, a beautiful shade of purple that perfectly complemented her unique haircut. The sunlight did justice to her eyes, which shared the same captivating purple hue. Though her gaze appeared uninterested, her mascara accentuated her eyes, making them pop even more. She was amazing.
His heart raced, but he gathered his courage and walked towards his own seat. As he sat down Izuku began counting down silently in his head, from 3 to 1. With each number, his anticipation grew. When he reached one, he mustered up the courage to look directly at Kyoka. Taking a deep breath, he finally spoke up, "Hi."
Kyoka looked up from her notebook, her eyes meeting Izuku's. She wore a soft smile on her lips and waved at him, her voice filled with warmth, "Hey Midoriya."
Izuku felt a rush of warmth spread through him as he saw her smile and wave. He returned the gesture, his own smile widening.
As Izuku sat in his seat, he was internally freaking out over his greeting to Kyoka. He chastised himself for being so awkward and wondered if he had made a bad impression. Lost in his thoughts, he was suddenly brought back to reality when Kyoka spoke up, her voice cutting through his anxiety.
"Is that all you're gonna say?" Kyoka said, raising an eyebrow. Her tone is playful yet teasing. Her words caught him off guard, and he stumbled over his response.
Izuku stumbled over his words, his mind racing to find the right response. "N-No, I mean... uh...want to talk to you more and get to know you...." He took a deep breath "You seem really cool an-and umm I find you interesting" he managed to say, his voice wavering.
Kyoka looked at him with a mix of surprise and amusement from his outburst, she quickly composed herself and her normal demeanor returned. "R-Really?.... Well, how about we eat lunch together then? That way, we can get to know each other," she suggested.
Izuku's eyes widened, and he frantically shook his head in affirmation, his voice coming out a bit louder than intended. "Yes! I mean, yes, that would be great," he blurted out, unable to contain his excitement.
A blush crept across Izuku's face as he realized his outburst, but Kyoka simply giggled in response, her laugh putting him at ease.
Their light-hearted moment was interrupted by the arrival of their teacher, who walked into the classroom, signaling the start of the lesson. The classroom quickly settled down as everyone turned their attention to the front of the room.
Kyoka leaned closer to Izuku, her voice barely above a whisper. "We should probably pay attention. I don't want to ruin your 4.0," she said
"...Y-Yeah" Izuku whispered back with a small smile.
Small Timeskip
The lesson was non stop full of subjects like math, history, and chemistry. It was interesting, sure but Izuku had other things in mind which you can guess what it was. As the teacher droned on about the subject of chemistry. The lackluster response from his classmates was evident as they displayed their disinterest and barely mustered any enthusiasm for the topic.
In a last-ditch effort to engage the class, the teacher posed a seemingly simple question, "Well, let's start off easy. What is chemistry?" The silence that followed was broken only by a few misguided attempts from students.
One boy piped up, "Chemicals?" feeling uncertain about his answer. The teacher nodded, acknowledging the student's attempt. "You're in the right direction. Does anyone else have an answer?" More students chimed in, their responses were not technically wrong but he wanted a clear answer. The teacher's patience waned as "incorrect" answers filled the air.
Turning his attention to Izuku, the teacher knew he was the one who could provide the "correct" answer. But just as Izuku was called upon, Izuku snapped out of his daydreaming, suddenly realizing he had missed the question.
"Um, s-sorry, what was the question again?" Izuku asked, a hint of embarrassment coloring his voice.
Surprise flashed across the teacher's face and even some of the students were taken aback by Izuku's momentary lapse. The teacher composed himself and repeated the question, giving Izuku another chance to answer.
"Chemistry," Izuku began confidently, "is the scientific study of matter, its properties, and the ch-changes that occur when substances interact. It helps us understand how different elements combine to form....compounds and how they can undergo various reactions. For example, chemical reactions like combustion or how metal rust"
Satisfaction crossed the teacher's face as Izuku provided the correct answer along with relevant examples. He nodded appreciatively, glad to witness genuine engagement in the classroom.
As the teacher was about to continue the lesson, the bell for lunch unexpectedly rang throughout the classroom. Instantly, a wave of excitement filled the air as students eagerly gathered their belongings, ready to head off to the cafeteria or enjoy the break with their friends.
"Wait, wait!" the teacher called out, their voice filled with urgency. "Okay, everyone, have a nice lunch break, but please remember to come back to class afterward. Don't skip to all the other lunches just to hang out with your friends!" Some students chuckled due to their teachers frantic words but then assured the teacher that they would return.
(Suggest a name for the teacher, I don't want to call him teacher all the time)
With that, the classroom emptied out as students excitedly walked in different directions, their conversations blending into a mix of chatter and laughter.
Kyoka turned to Izuku and tapped on Izuku's shoulder. "Let's head out," she said, raising her earphone jacks pointing it towards the door. Izuku slowly nodded, his head nod giving Kyoka the confirmation she needed.
She began to walk away, assuming he would follow. However, Izuku remained frozen in place, his attention momentarily captured by something in his peripheral vision and his spider sense gave out a low buzz. "Hey, Midoriya, are you coming or not?" she called out, breaking him from his trance.
"Y-Yeah, I'm just grabbing my stuff," Izuku said.
Izuku hastily collected his belongings and got up from his seat. As he moved, he caught a glimpse of Bakugo staring at him with an angered look. Their eyes locked, and it felt like time stood still. The tension between them seemed to stretch on forever. Breaking away from Bakugo's piercing gaze, Izuku redirected his attention and started following Kyoka.
Small Timeskip
"So, where are we heading?" Izuku asked, his curiosity piqued. They passed by the cafeteria and were heading to a place of the school he's never seen before.
"Somewhere" Kyoka said white looking at Izuku with a smirk.
Izuku followed her lead, walking down the hallway until they reached the end, where a single door stood in isolation. Its plain appearance puzzled him even more, but Kyoka seemed unfazed.
"It's just a door....." Izuku said, scratching his head in confusion.
Kyoka turned to face him, "Yeah, you're not wrong," she replied, shrugging nonchalantly.
"Can you hold this for a sec?" Kyoka extended her arms, handing him her guitar case.
Izuku took the guitar case, carefully cradling it in his arms. He looked at Kyoka with curiosity, waiting for an explanation. "Thanks," Kyoka said
Without wasting another moment, Kyoka walked to the door and crouched down, her gaze fixated on the lock. She extended her earphone jacks towards the keyhole. With careful precision, she maneuvered them, manipulating the lock with her Quirk.
Izuku stood there in shock, he's never seen this side of her quirk. The earphone jacks served as makeshift tools, displaying the versatility of her power. He couldn't help but be amazed by her resourcefulness and creativity.
With a soft clicking sound, the door mechanism yielded, unlocking before their very eyes. The door creaked open, revealing a room shrouded in mystery.
"Wow! That was amazing!" Izuku exclaimed, his voice filled admiration.
Kyoka retracted her earphone jacks, standing up and giving Izuku a gentle nudge. "I know," she teased, grabbing her guitar case from Izuku.
Kyoka stepped through the unlocked door, "Ladies first," she quipped, her tone playfully sarcastic. Izuku let out a small chuckle, following her lead. They stepped into the dark room, greeted by an ominous silence. Izuku noticed a flight of stairs leading up to another door.
Izuku stood there and muttered under his breath, "Another door?" Kyoka heard this and replied, "Yeah, but this one isn't locked."
She positioned herself in front of Izuku, giving him a grin as she swung the door open. A blinding light flooded the room, temporarily blinding Izuku's vision. He blinked rapidly, his eyes adjusting to the brightness as he realized they were standing on the school's rooftop.
"Wow, we're on the rooftop! I've never been here before," Izuku exclaimed in awe, taking in the panoramic view before him. "
Kyoka grinned, her mischievous side spilling through. "Yeah, no one has been here except for yours truly," she quipped, adding a playful touch to her words.
Izuku turned around to Kyoka and asked "A-Are we allowed to be here?"
Kyoka looked at Izuku, her fingers tapping her lips "Well technically they do have the first door locked, so I guess not" she replied "but whooooo cares we're not doing anything wrong and plus they don't lock the second door, so maybe it's their way of saying 'come on in you made it this far'.....or maybe they just forgot"
She soon began walking towards a small shed-like building that housed the air conditioning unit. Izuku followed, his steps slightly hesitant as he took in the new surroundings. Kyoka turned around and waved at him, urging him to catch up."Hurry up, slowpoke!" she called out.
Izuku quickened his pace, his curiosity driving him forward. As he approached the small building, Kyoka disappeared behind it, leaving Izuku momentarily alone. Izuku approached the corner only to be met with a small ball heading to his face.
Kyoka threw the small ball towards Izuku, expecting to hit him. However, to her surprise, Izuku's reflexes kicked in, and he effortlessly snatched the ball from the air. A hint of surprise crossed Kyoka's face as she exclaimed, "Nice catch!"
As Izuku held the ball and noticed the makeshift hangout place that Kyoka had created. A purple bed sheet with black music notes wrapped around the fence and some makeshift poles, creating a cozy atmosphere and a much needed shade from the beaming sun. A furry pink rug lay on the ground, accompanied by a single orange lawn chair and a small speaker. Izuku's eyes widened as he took in the sight.
(Realized it was hard to imagine so I made a quick drawing on some random app💀)
"N-Nice place," Izuku uttered, his voice filled with genuine appreciation, as he tossed the ball back to Kyoka.
"Thanks, I made it myself," Kyoka replied, a sense of pride evident in her voice. She looked around her makeshift place and quickly adjusted the bed sheet, seeing that it started to get a little lose.
Izuku made his way toward the hangout spot, standing near the edge and taking in the cozy ambiance. Kyoka glanced up at him, an inviting smile on her face "Dooo you want to sit down on the chair"
Izuku smiled but politely declined, "No, thanks. I'm fine standing."
Kyoka looked up at Izuk and asked, "Are you really, really, really sure?" Her tone was teasing, as if playfully challenging him.
Izuku smiled. "Yes, I'm really, really, really sure," he replied
Kyoka shrugged and dropped down onto the chair. "Your loss," she quipped, settling comfortably into the seat. As she sat down she reached out for her juice box and phone that were inside her backpack.
Kyoka swiftly connected her phone to the small speaker, the sound of music filling the air. Izuku stood awkwardly, unsure of how to fully immerse himself in the moment. He appreciated the music, bobbing his head slightly in rhythm.

Noticing his hesitance, Kyoka turned to him, her orange juice box in hand. With a swift motion, she pierced the box with the straw, taking a satisfying sip. She then looked at Izuku, a playful glint in her eyes, and said, "Come and sit down on the rug, chill out for a bit."
Izuku nodded, and sat down on the rug beside her. The softness of the rug provided some comfort, and together they sat, immersed in the music that enveloped them.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
After a few moments of comfortable silence, Izuku couldn't help but break it with a curious question. "So, why did you invite me to have lunch with you?"
Kyoka turned down the volume on the speaker, the music now serving as a pleasant background noise. She turned to face Izuku "Well..."
