Epilogue ~2~
Hey guys! OOh, we're close to 8k!! I wanted to update today for my first anniversary of Wattpad in my life!! Also, some Marinette fan art for you guys. owo. Enjoy!
Marinette shifted in her bed. "Mom, wake up," A boy took off her bedsheets. "What is it, honey?" Marinette's voice was groggy. "We can't find Emma," Hugo said as Marinette rushed out of her bed. "Were you playing with her this morning!?" Marinette asked as Hugo trailed behind her.
"No, I was sleeping, but Louis was crying so I woke up," Hugo said as Marinette sighed. "Where is your father," Marinette said, getting agitated. "He's taking care of Louis," Hugo replied, softly, not liking when his mother got angry.
"Okay, you go take care of your brother, tell your dad to meet me in Emma's room," Marinette said as Hugo left. Marinette opened the 3-year old's room, peering in to see if she was just hiding.
"Emma, sweety," Marinette's voice was soft like silk. She got no response as she checked her bedsheets. "Where are you," Marinette mumbled under her breath. "What's going on," Adrien caused her to turn around.
"Hugo didn't- nevermind. Emma's missing," Marinette ran out of the room, not waiting for him to follow. "Okay, you go ask Zoey if she's seen her, I'll check outside," Marinette said as they separated.
Marinette went out of the front doors of the palace, panting slowly. "Have any of you seen Emma?" Marinette asked the guardsmen. "She was going to come outside, and she said she had your permission," One of them spoke up softly.
Marinette deeply sighed. "That makes sense," Marinette mumbled, going into the gardens. "Emma?" Marinette's voice was muted by the wind. "Mommy!" A small girl's voice was muted. Marinette ran towards where she thought the sound was coming from.
"Mommy!" Emma wasn't scared at all. She smiled, running up to hug her. "Why did you lie?" Marinette knelt to reach her height. "I didn't," Emma replied. "Daddy said that I could go outside if I ate all my veggies!" Emma said as Marinette sighed.
"But you didn't," Marinette said quickly after. "Most of them were still there, and we said that we have to come with you," Marinette said as Emma crossed her arms. "I know you love being out here in the gardens, but you can have all sorts of adventures when you're older, okay?" Marinette lifted Emma in her arms.
"Did you find her!?" Adrien yelled, Zoey behind him. "Yes, yes, I found her," Marinette said as Adrien released a breath. "Where were you!?" Adrien jokingly asked his daughter. She then giggled as Marinette gave Zoey a wave.
"Aunt Zoey!" Emma quickly ran to Zoey as she picked her up. "Adrien?" Marinette whispered. "Hmm?" He turned towards her. "On her sixteenth birthday-" "Why are you thinking of that already? She's only 5," Adrien interrupted with a laugh.
"I know," Marinette smiled. "But, Hugo is the heir to the throne, and she's going to have to get married to someone else," Marinette said. "Okay, what do marriage and 16 mean," Adrien asked nervously.
"NO, not that," Marinette playfully slapped him. "She can start dating at that time, and Hugo, do you think he'll want a selection?" Marinette asked. Adrien sighed. "We'll have to see what he wants, he may have already found someone he likes," Adrien said truthfully.
"He's only 8," Marinette reminded Adrien. "I suppose, but when he is 18, we'll explain to him," Adrien said as Marinette nodded.

"The Selection?" Hugo asked his parents. "Yes, your 18th birthday is already coming up, and we want to see what you thought," Marinette said as he pinched the bridge of his nose. "I don't think so," Hugo said quickly.
"Now, don't say something you may regret," Adrien said, resting his hand onto his shoulder. "What's so great!? 35 women all trying to get me to marry them?" Hugo said as Marinette gave him a stern look.
He sighed deeply. "I'm sorry, but I don't think that's a good idea," Hugo said softly. "Honey, we know that you may not like the idea now," Marinette stood up. "But you're going to have to be the heir soon," Marinette added.
"And you need a companion," Marinette squeaked as he looked away. "Look," Marinette sucked in a breath. "I and your father have been planning this ever since you were little. If there is another girl, you need to tell us, and we won't start the selection. We are only asking because if there isn't one, we need to do it, and if you find one girl that is not in the selection, we can stop it midway," Marinette looked at him for an answer.
Hugo didn't say anything. "But, what if I want a private love life? Not for the entire public to know," Hugo spat. "Like, I have to try and fall in love with 35 different girls at the same time, I would basically be cheating on them," Hugo said as Marinette and Adrien looked at each other.
Gosh, he was just like Marinette.
"Do you have a girl in mind?" Marinette played it smart. "Well," he sighed deeply. "No, but that isn't-" "You're doing it, Hugo," Marinette sat down. He looked at his parents in disbelief, and then stormed out of the room.
"I hope we're doing this right," Marinette rubbed her temples. "Of course we are," Adrien's voice was a bit unsure. "I mean, he obviously doesn't want to," Marinette pointed out, gesturing her fingers.
"You didn't, but you would have never met me," Adrien said as Marinette giggled. "Bad or good," Marinette teased as he gave her a playful glare. "Still, we can stop it any time he wants, we have to do this for him,"
***
"What's the word?" Angela asked Hugo as he sighed. "They want me to do The Selection," Hugo leaned against a wall, arms crossed. "I think that's a good thing," she smiled widely, him looking the other way, hiding his blush.
"I don't think so, I don't want to do it," Hugo spat. "Why?" Angela touched his arm, pushing his face to see hers. "I may love someone else," he smiled softly. "Wow, who is she," Angela said as they walked down the hall.
"A beautiful girl," Hugo listed off, looking at her. "She has a beautiful voice," Hugo smiled. "She sounds great," Angela looked to the side. "When did you become so narcissistic-"
Hugo stopped himself as she turned around. "Wha-" "Nothing!" he interrupted nervously. He laughed softly to himself. One day I'll tell you how I feel.
And I hope you accept it.
