Something very bad happens in this chapter...

Marinette's special night with the prince had lingered at the back of her mind. It may have been the fact that there were only three girls left, and she had managed to be one of them. Or the fact of how he had confessed his undying love to her.

Either way, Marinette was happy and giddy for the next days. She had tried to converse with other competitors, but definitely, now they were all cold to each other.

Especially Kagami.

Kagami threw her a cold shoulder if she had even waved. 

She had guessed at this point in the competition, everyone was against each other. Marinette drank some tea as she conversed with Zoey; it seemed she was the only one who wanted to talk with her these days.

"Saturday is tomorrow," Zoey noted. 

"I know," Marinette felt herself tense. "I hope everything goes smoothly."

Marinette set down her cup, rubbing her temples. "You have nothing to worry about," Zoey reassured with a smile.

"He loves you, and you do too," Zoey added, Marinette sadly smiling.

"Yeah," Marinette giggled nervously, "I am going to check if he's in the hallway anywhere."

"See you," Zoey stood up, ready to close the door. Marinette heard her door shut, walking down to enter the grand hall of the palace and hopefully find the prince.

She heard some giggling.

Out of curiosity, Marinette followed to where she had thought she heard the sound coming from. 

She hid behind one of the large columns that stretched from floor to ceiling. 

"I'm not supposed to be here," a familiar voice whispered. 

"Neither am I," the other one responded. "Yet, I still am."

The other girl's breathing hitched. "I was kicked out two days ago, what makes you think I'm worth your time?" The girl mumbled.

He grabbed her wrist, "You're worth every second, my dear."

Marinette smiled at the thought of these two people; they must be very happy together. 

"Spying, are we?" Adrien's calm voice managed to make Marinette scream. 

"Who is there!?" the other two voices said in unison. 

"LUKA AND CHLOE!?"

Marinette screeched as she saw them. "Hey, Marinette," Chloe waved as Luka smiled. 

"What is the meaning of this!?"

The king yelled as everyone turned their heads. 

"Chloe?" The king scoffed, seeing her there. The king sighed as he saw Marinette and Adrien. 

"Mr. Couffaine you have broken the rules too many times, you are going to be fired," The king boomed.

"You can't do that!" Adrien fought back. 

"Yes, I can," The king replied. 

"Marinette!" Chloe screeched. "You got us in trouble! You did that on purpose," Chloe practically hissed. 

"My dear, calm-" "No Luka!" Chloe grabbed his hand.

"I lied before. Marinette did cheat on Adrien. She got into an affair, and broke the rules of the selection," Chloe informed the king.

"On this young gentlemen?" The king said as Chloe squeezed Luka's hand harder. 

"Of course not. It doesn't matter, does it? She cheated. Meaning, she is out," Chloe didn't even look at Marinette.

"Y-You can't do that!" Marinette resisted. 

"Father, I will not let Marinette leave," Adrien shouted and stepped forward. 

"My decision is final," the king spat. 

"I say Luka and Marinette stay," Adrien shot back immediately, "you said yourself that the selection was my choice!" 

"But I am the king, Adrien. Marinette will leave, or I will sue her little bakery and make sure she is in debt! She will be leaving with Mr. Couffaine and you will marry Kagami Tsurugi - her parents and I made an agreement." 

"No!" Adrien shouted, about to strangle his father. 

Two guards came to Marinette's sides as with everyone else except for Chloe and Luka, who were both dragged out of the room. 

"No!" Marinette screeched.

"Don't worry, you won't be leaving yet, little girl," The king snapped as the guards dragged her against the floor. 

"I have plans for you," The king added. Marinette glanced desperately to Adrien, him pushing against the two guard's strength.

"Adrien!" Marinette felt tears drip down her cheeks. 

"MARINETTE!" Adrien shouted, two more guards coming to restrain him. 

Marinette's breath hitched as she got shoved into a room. 

"You will stay here until the competition tomorrow," the king spat, "where you will face your humiliation."

"Or would you choose for your family to be in debt for the rest of your life and leave?" The king scoffed. 

He lifted her chin with his cane. 

"I will not let my son be manipulated by a poor baker's daughter. You will stay here for the rest of the night, along with your maid, who will join you shortly," the king snapped.

"Please! Let Zoey stay," Marinette begged. 

"For what?" The king shot intrigued. 

"I...I will force Adrien to choose Kagami, and do something horrible," Marinette stammered. 

"Do what?" The king replied.

"Your...Your choice,"

The king's smile deepened. "I'm sure you will be a great acquaintance to many rich men," The king said as Marinette's cry deepened. 

"Now stay here, and don't go anywhere," the king left the jail with a smash of the metal door.
