Chapter 31: An Early Departure and Arrival

Hey guys! I decided to finally draw some Selection Marinette fanart, so the one above is mine :D

PLEASE don't get mad at me. I tried ;n; (Edit: Damn...her eyes are really...big .__.")

Anyway, you don't care about that XD!! Enjoy the chapter :3

Marinette had dashed onto the train, barely missing it before the doors shut. She was panting but decided to let the elderly sit while she clung to a pole.

Marinette felt the train shake beneath her feet, but she tried her best to keep her balance.

She hoped she was making the right decision to run back to Adrien. She was a bit unsure since there were still at least eight girls he loved or at least cared about in the palace. The train shaking had made her lose her train of thought.

The train shook again as she regained balance, Marinette falling once more.

"Gotcha!" A man exclaimed, catching her just above the ground.

"Thank you," Marinette mumbled, clinging onto the pole once again. "You're one of the selected, right?" he asked as Marinette nodded.

"I'm just coming from the palace, I work as a Chef there," he said as Marinette's eyes widened. "The food there is amazing," Marinette giggled.

"Yeah, thanks! Just picking up some produce, maybe this time I'll impress the king," he chuckled.

"I'll put it a good word for you," Marinette winked as the man nodded.

"Thanks," he replied. "What are you doing? Since, shouldn't you be at the palace?"

"Well, I recently left since my mother was very sick, but I wanted to return back early because of a letter he sent me," Marinette handed it to him.

He read over it and smiled. "He must really like you," he replied.

"I'm counting on that," Marinette giggled.

Without Marinette noticing, he stuffed it into his pocket.

"So, I'll see you there then," he turned to face the window. "Yeah," Marinette replied sweetly. Marinette put her hands into her pockets, the slight swaying of the train not bothering her as it had done before.

Once the man tapped her shoulder, she knew it was time for her to get off the train. She ran to the station and put her ID onto the table.

"What a quick visit," the girl mumbled as Marinette ignored her. She took back her things and ran to the direction the man was going.

He was met up by some other people, which Marinette happily met. "This is my crew," the man said gesturing to all his friends.

Marinette waved as they looked at the palace in the far distance.

"If you need a lift, you can come with us," one of them proposed as the others nodded.

Marinette breathed a thank you, stepping into the back of the trailer.

Two of the drivers went in front, as Marinette and three other men went into the trailer. Other than them, it was occupied by produce as well as hay strands all over.

Some of the other men were surprised how she could get in by herself, but they joined her shortly after.

One of the guys snacked on an apple while the others chatted. Marinette looked over her shoulder at the scene, watching it zip by her. She decided to let her hair out of the pins, letting the cool wind blow it around.

Her hair was curled and looked much prettier than it did in a tight bun. "Hey," one of the men said, gathering her attention.

"Hmm?" she responded quickly.

"What were you doing out of the palace?" the other one asked.

"I had to go see my sick mother," Marinette replied. "Oh," they said in unison making everyone chuckled softly.

"You look good with your hair down," the one with the apple said as Marinette thanked him. One of the other men elbowed him for trying to flirt, them all laughing after.

Marinette was silent for the rest of the ride, listening to all the men chat with each other like old friends; even though they probably were.

Once Marinette had gotten to the palace, she thanked the men and ran in through the doors. She saw Luka and ran up to him, panting a little. "

Marinette?" he asked, surprised at seeing her.

"Where is Adrien," Marinette asked as he pointed in the direction of the stairs.

Marinette ran up to the floor and knocked on Adrien's door. "Yes?" The prince asked.

Marinette was going to say something, but she was too busy trying to catch her breath.

"I... come in," Adrien finally said after a long period of silence.

Marinette whipped open the door. Adrien didn't know it was her, so he kept his back faced towards his table.

"What is it?" Adrien asked, looking through some paper. Marinette didn't know what to say so she shut the door.

"Uhm... Adrien?" Marinette asked as he turned his head around.

"M-Marinette?" He stammered as she ran up to hug him. He hugged her tightly before pulling back.

"M-My mom is dead," Marinette felt tears glisten in her eyes.

"I'm so sorry," Adrien pulled Marinette back in for a hug.

"I came back after I read your letter," Marinette said as she let go of him. "It wasn't your fault at all," Marinette wiped her eyes, "it was all mine since I didn't want to let go of the past."

Adrien just looked at her, dumbstruck. "I-I'm sorry princess," he stammered. "I just don't like seeing you like this," he wiped her tears, "you look ravishing, my sweet."

"I'm really glad I came back," Marinette smiled at the remarks, resting her head on his chest. "Me too," he rested his chin on her head. He then lifted her chin with his fingers, Marinette giggling as she rested her hands on his shoulders.

They then kissed each other, both of them smiling. They pulled apart as soon as they went in for more. Marinette giggled as she played with her hair, and she straightened his tie.

"I love you," he breathed between kisses.

"I love you too," Marinette smiled, running her hands through his hair.

Lila POV

Lila grumbled, spying on the prince and Marinette through her window.

They were kissing, and she couldn't bear to see this anymore. Adrien had always refused to do this with her, letting them just go on dates. Lila had tried to seduce Adrien multiple times, but Adrien had always refused.

She had hated how free he was with her.

"What did you get," Lila asked, the man from before handing her a letter.

"Just this," he replied as she gave him some expensive jewelry.

"You said five thousand in cash," the man staggered as Lila snickered.

"Oops, I lied," Lila flicked her hand in the direction of the door.

She read over the letter, her hands clenching into fists.

Dear Marinette,

Hey, princess. I know that we haven't been the same the past few days. After the incident involving Luka, I don't think I could think straight. I just realized how much I needed you in my life.

Using Lila was very petty and shallow of me. I was very angry at the stunts you had pulled, but now that I had calmed down, I feel we can handle this a proper way. So, I decided to take the first step.

Firstly, I want to apologize about your mother. I know that this may be the last thing that you need right now, but I feel it is appropriate. I understand if you would be staying a bit with your father for the next few days, to soak up as much time with her.

Second, I am ready to forgive you for the incident, but I still need to build up some trust with you again. Luka still has his job, since I know that he needs the money to send to his family back at home. Even though Luka screwed up, he is still one of my closest friends. Even though I know so many people, I never really had any true friends. I'm ready to forgive, forgetting is the hardest part.

Love,

Adrien Agreste

Lila then felt a smile curve onto her face. "Incident with Luka, huh?" She stuffed the note into her pocket. "Interesting."

DON'T KILL ME!

MAYBE Lila will sabotage Marinette. But, there is nothing you can prove! Though, even if she does, there is a positive outcome for Mari -w-

Anyway!! Stay tuned ;)
