Chapter 23: The Filming Session
Enjoy!
The next weeks passed like flipping pages of a book, the count of girls slimming down to fifteen. Most of the week, all the remaining girls were clambering about the television stream on Friday.
"Okay," Zoey breathed the morning of the premiere, her face extremely focused. "I think you're more nervous than me," Marinette laughed, "And I never thought that could be possible." "I think I might be," she muttered, "You have to look amazing."
"Not too heavy, okay?" Marinette reminded Zoey nodding. "Perfect," Zoey smiled in relief, backing up. "Wow," -she breathed with a smile- "That's amazing Zoey."
She nervously laughed, "Thank you-." The announcer did a final call for the girls to come, both of the girls sharing a look. "Go, go!" Zoey exclaimed, Marinette rushing out of her chair, "Good luck!"
Marinette took a deep breath, sitting around the other girls. She nervously glanced up, most of the girls looking gorgeous, as usual. Lila and Chloe were snickering, the other competitors ignoring them.
Marinette noticed the cameras pointing at all of them, her breathing hitching. Marinette tried her best to avoid the lenses, one accidentally catching her eye. She smiled nervously while waving, making sure to keep a straight back.
The prince and king were seated on the right, her instructor, Miss. Bustier, on the left. "Welcome!" -the announcer boomed- "Today we are getting a close-up with the lovely ladies seated here." The girls all waved, and Marinette smiled, hoping her parents were watching.
"And, of course to your right, we have Prince Adrien," "As well as his majesty, King Gabriel." The announcer gestured to the two, Adrien giving a polite wave as the king ignored their existence.
Marinette bit her lip, quickly letting it go as she realized the cameras were still on her. "The Selected will be continuing their daily lives," "While everyone watching gets a sneak peek of what it would be like being one of these girls."
Scattered competitors stood up while Marinette copied the actions; brushing her dress down. Marinette hadn't expected this to be occurring throughout the day, but there was no going back now.
The camera's focused on the girls who left the room the quickest, Marinette still standing in the same place, waiting for all of them to leave.
"Hey, princess," Adrien tapped her shoulder, "How has your morning been?" She smiled cheekily, "Go away," -she whisper-yelled- "The cameras are going to come over here." He chuckled, "What's so wrong about that?" he ushered one over with a gesture.
"Adrien!" Marinette whisper-yelled, immediately closing her mouth as the camera came over. "H-Hello!" Marinette stammered and waved. "See you, princess," he pecked her cheek, leaving. He tossed her a quick wink and mouthed a 'your welcome' at the door frame.
"So here we have Marinette Dupain-Cheng!" -he smiled- "Anything you would like to say to your fans?" Marinette laughed nervously, "I- well Uhm. Thank you for watching, and I hope you enjoy the show!"
"Thank you, Miss," they said as they drifted off to other girls, the announcer laughing under his breath. Marinette took a deep breath, running to catch up with the prince. "What the hell!" she slapped his shoulder, "That was so mean!" Adrien laughed, "You can slap me as many times as you want princess," he chuckled, "That was worth it."
Marinette groaned, "Was it that bad?" Adrien laughed, "You just seemed a bit nervous..." "Though, I'm sure many girls are," he added, laughing. She scoffed, "This is all your fault," -she then giggled- "But, I'll let it slide." Well, I have to go, princess," -he glanced nervously at the king- "I'll see you, though."
"Good luck," she pecked his cheek. She waved him off, immediately starting a search for Alya. She walked around the grand hall, peeking into every room for the search of her friend. Alya was in the middle of an interview, Marinette tossing her a smile behind the cameras.
They tossed each other their greetings, both of them chatting while they left to the breakfast hall. Marinette sat down, Kagami immediately taking the seat next to her. "Hello, Marinette," -Kagami smiled- "Hey," Marinette returned it warmly.
"How... are things with Adrien?" Marinette asked nervously, confused about what to converse on. She shrugged, "They're going well," -she sighed- "I do hope he will choose me in the end."
"What about you?" "Better than before," Marinette laughed, "But, still great." When Kagami didn't join her laughing, the silence grew deeper. She then went off to converse with another competitor Alya immediately stealing the seat.
"Hey girl," Alya smiled, "How are-". "Ladies!" the announcer boomed, cutting off Alya's sentence. Everyone whipped their heads around, then noticing the king and prince in the room. "I expect you all to be on your best behaviour, since not only will you be representing us, but your cities." the king scoffed.
"You may begin," the camera's burst in. Marinette bit her lip, her and Alya sharing a glance. The girls passing the food along with the tables. The camera's circled the room, Marinette trying to be as proper as she could while eating.
Every girl took smaller bites, and only a few girls conversed with each other; most sat in silence. "You," the cameraman walked up to the girl on her left, Marinette glancing up. "What's your name, and where are you from?"
"My name is Sabrina," She smiled, "And I'm from-" "Sabrina," the girl beside her interrupted. "Sorry about her," Chloe scoffed, Marinette's brows furrowing. "My name is Chloe Boujerois, as you all know," Chloe smiled, Sabrina's eyes directed at her shoes.
"It's not nice to interrupt people, Chloe," Marinette intruded the camera's pointing at her. "Go on, Sabrina," Marinette smiled softly. "How dare you!" Chloe exclaimed, shaking the table.
"How dare you," Marinette replied in a passive-aggressive tone. "Chloe, the camera's will get to you," -she sighed- "Let's give Sabrina a chance to talk," "Actually, that won't be necessary."
After getting a glare from Sabrina and Chloe, Marinette bit her lip. "Isn't it Sabrina's turn?" Marinette gestured to her desperately. "We'll get to her later," Sabrina then got up, leaving to sit at another table.
"Great job, Dupain-Cheng," Chloe scoffed.

After breakfast, Marinette ran back to her room immediately. She had brought some of her sewing supplies, Zoey giving her much more than she could ever Marinette had sketched out a design through the last couple of days, and she now had to put everything together.
