Chapter 7

A/N: The picture above show America playing her violin.

I took my dinner into the music room so I could play the piano, violin, and sing the night away.

I played and played until my eyes couldn't stay open anymore and I fell asleep on the piano.

The next morning I woke up to find Marlee sitting across from me.

"Marlee! You scared me." I said.

"Sorry, Princess America." She said.

"What are you doing down here anyways?" I asked her.

"I just wanted to wake you up, so you could go to bed, but you looked so peaceful." She said

"What time is it?" I asked her.

"2:30 in the afternoon," she replied.

"What! Why didn't any wake me?" I  asked.

"Well I was supposed to..." She trailed.

"Marlee," I said a hint of a smile in both of our faces.

"Come on let's get you ready for the day." She said as she led me through the doors and up the three flights, and into my bedroom.

On my bed was a simple cream colored dress that went down to my knees and flared out at my hips, there were simple light pink flowers across the dress. My maids added a pair of simple light pink heels, to it and put my hair up in a bun.

"Okay, you're ready now." Said Anne.

I giggled as I twirled around in a circle, for my maids amusement.

"Okay," I said, and left the room.

I walked into the women's room to find May and Astra playing in the center of the room, they were playing with some brightly colored stuffed animals.

"Astra!" May called in mock disapproval when she threw a stuffed animal across the room. Astra giggled.

"Hi," I said as I walked in their direction.

"You're up sleepy-head!" May exclaimed.

"Sweepee-ed" Astra echoed  with a goofy smile across her face.

"Are you excited about tomorrow or what." May asked.

It seemed as if everyone but me knew what was going on with my selection accept me

"Remind me again, what's tomorrow?" I asked.

"America it's The Report. You know the show we have every Friday, that the whole country watches. You know the show where the selected will be announced tomorrow." She said while lightly hitting my arm.

"I know what The Report is silly goose," I replied "I just have been losing track of time lately, everything has been such a blur lately!"

"A burr" squealed Astra.

"Yeah, a blur" giggled May in a baby voice.

We giggled in the Women's room for about another 3 hours, until it was time for dinner.

We walked down the hall into the dining room. Mom, dad, and Gerad were already sitting at the table.

"So how was everyone's day?" Mom asked.

"I had a good day, I got some of the guards to play soccer with me!" Exclaimed Gerad.

"Well that must have been exciting." Mom said.

"So America did you spend the day breaking more bowls?" Mom asked.

Sometimes it felt like the highlight of her day was putting me down.

"Actually, no, mom, I spent the day with May and Astra." I replied.

"Well I hope you had a nice day with your sister, and Astra, you know you won't as much time with them when the selection begins." She said.

"Another perk," I mumbled to myself.

"What was that America?" mom asked.

"Nothing," I replied.

The rest of dinner was mainly quiet, except for a few comments here and there.

I went up to my bedroom ready to talk to my maids.

When my I got to my room, my maids were all waiting for me.

"Okay, America were going to have to get you ready for bed right away, no late nights tonight we need you fully rested for your big day tomorrow!" Lucy said.

They prepped me for bed in record time and had me all settled in no later than 10:00.

Tomorrow everything would change, tomorrow I would learn the names and faces of the boys competing for my heart.
