Chapter 6

A/N: The picture above shows the bowls America picked from.

I totally forgot that I had to pick all the boys from each province. Since there are 35 provinces there are 35 glass bowls, all filled to the top with envelopes.

"It's simple kitten, all you have to do is pick one envelope fro each if the glass bowls." Dad said.

This all came so fast I thought that we were still accepting applications, they must of all been do by this morning.

It shocked me the amount of boys that wanted to marry me, and only 35 got the chance, what if I messed up.

I took a deep breath in and walked towards the first bowl.

Belcourt, I stuck my hand in the bowl and wiggled it around a little bit before picking the right envelope.

This wouldn't be so bad.

It wasn't until then that I noticed that there were reporters and photographers, snapping pictures and writing in their notebooks, about this all.

I sighed, couldn't anything be private? I guess not when your princess.

I walked to the next bowl, now with a fake smile plastered a cross my face, I suggest into the bowl marked Carolina.

Can't anything be private anymore! I dug my hand deep into the bowl and grabbed the one at the bottom of the bowl. Just as I was bringing it to the top it slipped out of my hand.

Maybe this was a sign, telling me them at this envelope was a bad idea. Oh well. I reached back in that bowl and picked it back up, handing it to the maid collecting my envelopes behind me.

I moved past bowls I think I was on about my 11th when I hit Angeles.

This was where I lived, where the palace is. Maybe a sense of comfort would come from this person. I plucked the one straight off the top, this envelope filled my stomach with butterflies again, maybe this one was a good luck charm.

I moved further down the line and I got to about the 18th finally I was about half way done this wasn't so bad I thought to myself.

This bowl was marked Yukon. I reached into the bowl and grabbed an envelope. As I pulled it out my hand hit the side of the bowl. The bowl fell off its stand and smashed on to the tile. The envelopes went flying everywhere.

Two maids rushed over and started cleaning up the mess, mom sighed, and  the photographers snapped away at what they would call a royal disaster. My whole face turned bright red.

Keep it together America, I reminded myself, I turned around and handed the maid the one envelope or that never touched the ground.

I walked to the next jar and the one after that as if nothing had happened.

Finally I reached the last jar this one was marked Kent. I snatched the one that was on the top of the pile and handed it to the maid.

By this time the only way you could see we were missing a bowl, is by counting them all out and getting only 34.

"Thank you," I said. And walked out of the room. As soon as got out of the room, I ran back to the garden.

"America,"someone called out "America," I ignored whoever it was.

I reached the doors the garden and pushed them out, letting the warm air surround me.

I ran down to the stable where we kept our horses and took mine out.

"Come on, Layla." I said to her. Even though I was definitely not dressed for this, I hopped on and rode her out to the forest behind the garden.

As soon as I further in to the garden, I took Layla and tied her up against the tree. I sat down on the dirt and buried my head into my hands.

A small headache started towards the back of my head. How was I going to do all of this? If I couldn't event pick envelopes out of some bowls how in the world was I going to mange sifting through 35 boys and pick my husband, let alone the future king of illegal.

I sighed and sat there for a while fiddling with my song bird necklace.

At least mom and dad aren't making me work on a lot of paper work right now.

I sat on the ground for hours, upon hours until the sky was dark, and the air got cold.

I rode back to the stables, and put Layla back in.

It would be a miracle if  I could get through the selection without the palace going up in my flames.
