Chapter 13

I woke up the next morning early for a change, and feeling rather intendant, I got dressed by myself this morning.

Gosh, i wondered, how much of my life would be different if I was, say a five or six, if I thought getting dressed all by myself was a win? I sighed and surveyed myself in the mirror.

I had a simple light blue dress on with the same colored lace on the skirt and sleeves, the dress cut off 3/4 of the way to my knees, and I finished the look off with my favorite song bird necklace, that my dad had given me when I was eleven.

The door suddenly creaked open just a crack, and a familiar face stuck their head in the crack. "Come on in,  Anne, and the rest of you to!" I called out towards them.

All four of my maids walked into the room, and came to sit with me. "Looks like someones up early today, are you excited for today, or what?" Mary asked.

"Yeah," I said "but not nearly as any if you."

Lucy had already began the difficult task of brushing out my hair, and Marlee and Anne were in the shoe closet.

"Mary," I asked do you think you will ever settle down?" I asked.

At this I could see Lucy in the mirror perk a little, and there was no question that Anne and Marlee had grew closer to the door in order to hear the conversation. I will never understand maids and gossip.

"Perhaps," she started "but for now and i hope for many more years I can stay in the position I am, because I love it here more than any one else, right now."

I nodded my head and took her hand, as Lucy began to put an intricate braid in my hair.  As soon as she finished,  Anne and Marlee walked out of the closet.

When i looked into Marlee's arm my eyebrows shot up. Marlee was holding a pair of 5 inch, blue heels, something I would never wear. "Yeah, I don't think so." I said.  As i trudged into the shoe closet to pick out my own shoes.

I found a pair of ballet flats, the same shade of blue as the heels, and slid those onto my feet.

"Thankyou, for everything," I said as had my hand on the handle ready to go out.

"Of course, America, and we will alert the boys that you are ready." Lucy said, a hint of a smile playing at the corners of her lips.

I nodded and left. I made it down to the main level, and at the bottom of the stairs I saw Silvia waiting for me.

"America, darling, come with me." I followed her down the hall and towards a small study, right off the great room, which is where I'd be meeting the boys for the first time.

"Wait here, until I tell you it is time to go, okay?" She said.

I simply nodded, too in shock that this was really happening right now.

About 45 minutes later Silvia came and got me again, where she led me to the great room. I didn't allow myself to look up at the boys until I was at the front of the room, and kept my eyes trained on the floor instead.

When I did reach the front of the room, before i could think about it my eyes started to search for Maxon, when he saw me he immediately lit up in a smile, and I could feel the corners of my lips rising to.

"Okay boys," Silvia started "each of you will have time to walk with Princess America, use your time wisely!" She said and nodded to me.

I walked over to the first boy and read his name tag even though there wasn't really even a reason to, i knew this one by heart. "Aspen," I said "follow me."

I led him to a set of couches they had set up for us in the back.

I curtsied to him, and he bowed back, then we sat,

"How are you doing today?" I asked.

"Well now, I am extremely excited to be here. How are you doing today Princess America?" He asked. I was slightly shocked I hadn't expected anyone to ask about me, I could feel my face start to turn red already.

Without thinking about I blurted out my answer "To be honest I am a bit stressed." I immediately regretted it, I didn't want him to think I was weak, especially on the first day. There was just something about him that made me feel comfortable.

The rest of our conversation was very easy going, and it had easily flowed I hadn't known 15 minutes even passed by until, Silvia came over to tell me I should probably move on to the next suitor.

I sent Aspen over to get the next guy.

The next three guys to talk to me didn't make me feel the same way as Aspen had. There wasn't anything wrong with them, just not the same spark.

The fifth guy to come along was tall, with chestnut brown hair, and brown eyes. I curtsied and he bowed when he reached me.

"Hi," he said "I'm Connor Newsome."
