Chapter Nine

   •Elsa's POV•

I look down and smile, relishing the fact that someone like Jack would even bother to listen to me.

Stop it, Elsa, he has to listen to you. He's the Prince.

Once we ate dinner, he lead me up to my room.

"Well, goodnight, snowflake. I thoroughly enjoyed our date." I smile.

"Same here."

Then I notice his face was inches from mine, and he was getting closer...but I pull away at the last second. He opens his eyes, clearly confused.

"I'm sorry. I didn't realize..." He says.

Then I realize that he probably hasn't had his first kiss.... and he wanted it with me. I lift up his chin and tell him the truth.

"I do like you, Prince Jack. It's just I'm still hurting, and in not completely ready to be in a relationship just yet. So, for now, can we remain friends?"

He nods. "If it means you still staying here, yes."

I hug him and he leaves my room. I sigh. That was a wonderful date, but I just crushed him. And now he'll probably have his first kiss with someone else...and that kills and infuriates me. Wait, is that jealousy? I clench my fists, my blood boiling. Oh, God, it is.

•Jack's POV•

"Hello, Lady Kate. I believe it is time for our date?" I joke.

She giggles and takes my arm. I lead her down the hallway where her room is and lead her to the movie theater. We sit in silence for a few hours as we watch the  chick flick, and I put my arm around her.

She giggles playfully. Is that all she ever does? After the movie, we walk up to the roof. She starts talking about how her life has changed from the Selection, and how many friends she's made here.

"There is this one particular girl that gets in my nerves, though. She acts like she's so innocent when really she just wants the crown and will do anything to get it. She's such a slut."

I furrow my eyebrows. "Someone's making you uncomfortable? Who is it?"

  She frowns. "Elsa something."

This makes me infuriated. Elsa would never do that. Would she? No. I refuse to believe it.

"Elsa? She would never do that. Lady Kate, don't you know it is against the rules to talk badly of other Selected in front of me, to make up stories like that?"

She stutters. "I...I-"

  "Have a safe trip home."

•Elsa's POV•

As I was walking out of the Women's Room and heading to my own, I noticed a new guard. He was a bit small, but broad. He nods at me, and I nearly fall dead to the floor when I realize who it is. Hiccup.
