Without wasting anymore time, I decided to drive my way to Taehyung's house in search of answers.
I saw him talking to two police officials leaving the house, perhaps they were here again to interrogate him about the death. He was quaking in shock as if he was the one who had committed the crime. The moment they left, it was my cue to go in.
"Tae..." I softly called out from my parted lips when I entered in, to find him standing pale, greeting me an Anneyong in an almost inaudible voice.
I was here to sympathize with his pain, but here the thought of even touching him made me disgusted with myself. He was completely heartbroken and it was because of me. Even though I wasnt the one who killed Sana, I felt guilty to find Taehyung in a condition like this.
"I'm sorry Tae..." I whispered as I held him in my arms. He couldn't bring out his emotions, so he stood still, not reciprocating my hug.
I genuinely felt sorry for him.
"I...I don't know Lisa....what I should be doing, saying right now....especially after knowing she...killed herself because- because of me. That's how pathetic I am..." Was all he could respond with, before breaking down in tears.
It had never happened before.
Taehyung was crying.
"I found her note....she..." He couldn't complete his sentence as he kept sobbing.
"No no Tae, don't take this all on yourself please, the only reason why you separated because she cheated, it wasn't your fault either." I justified, trying my best to calm him down.
The very next moment, he took a step behind, breaking away from me.
"I'm sorry Lisa." He uttered.
"Sorry? For what Tae? Why are you apologizing to me?" I was confused.
"I went over to her place last evening..." He crossed his arms as he spoke between continuous sobs.
"But why?"
"Lisa I don't know how I shall phrase this...but I," he paused with a sigh before continuing ㅡ "I went to her place to fix things with her, t-to get back with her."
I felt a sharp pain in my heart, as if a knife had been stabbed deep into my chest. I started to realize that I was failing the mission.
"You went there to talk through with her? Which means...."
"Which means I wanted her back in my life. I wanted to know, what made her cheat when everything was going great between us. I wanted to forgive her and start afresh again. I somehow haven't felt a deep connection between us Lisa. It's like you've been very distant, thinking about something else everytime we are together."
He was right; whenever I was with him my mind always drifted to Jungkook.
"So what am I to you Tae? Was I just a side chick in your eyes?" I asked in a broken tone, refusing to believe any of his words.
"Lisa, I can't...I guess we know where we're headed at...." He bit his pale lips, looking at me with bloodshot eyes.
"Taehyung, I really want to work on us and be with you..." Tears rolled down my cheeks.
"I can't do this to you Lisa..."
"So...are we breaking up?" I reluctantly asked, with a ray of hope that he doesn't want to step away from me. Because I'm failing this mission if he lets me go.
"I need a break from all this. Maybe because of the trauma I can't think straight now. I'll give you a call once I get back on the project. I need some time to get over it, please."
"I understand. If that's what you agree on, I'll stay away from you. I will be waiting for your call Tae, I'll miss you."
Not waiting for an answer from him, I started walking away.

I immediately called Jungkook and Sehun to assemble at the Phoenix headquarters for an emergency meeting. The news of this morning had already made him furious.
While waiting for Sehun to come, I walked back and forth across the conference room, carefully planning of what to say. Jungkook kept on worriedly looking at me as I ignored him.
"Listen, Lisa..."
"I don't wish to talk about anything, Guk."
"But this isn't helping either. This isn't the most decent question to ask as of now, I wanted to check up on you. Are you okay?"
"No Jeon. I am a loser. I have terribly failed this mission."
"No you haven't. We still do have a chance to improve things while living away from Taehyung. I admit I did distract you a bit..."
"A bit you say?" I stared at him in disbelief.
"Okay quite a lot ma'am." He hid his face in embarrassment.
"Exactly." I said, facepalming myself. "We have been unprofessional so much that we didn't realize this mission is slowly slipping away from our hands."
"Absolutely right, Agent Lili. Took you late enough but at least you realize it."
We turned our heads to Sehun's voice. We saw him approaching us with an unknown girl walking along with him.
She had her hair tied up in a long braid, I was sure she would've been definitely younger than me by a year or two. She dressed up in casual fashion and oh well - I do admit I was threatened by her looks.
"Anneyong-haseyo, I'm Kim Yerim. You can call me Yeri. So you are really the Seductress, your appearances didn't turn out how I had expected - but nice meeting you." She extended her hand, flashing a fake smile at me, completely uninterested in meeting me.
Pretty, but definitely got an attitude.
"Anneyong." I greeted back, folding my arms to ignore her handshake.
"Meet Yeri, she's one of the most trusted and talented profilers in Phoenix." Sehun introduced her to us as she shook hands with Jungkook.
"Its okay, but what is she doing here?" Jungkook asked.
"Ofcourse, I'm here to replace agent Lili on this mission." Her smile widened as she declared it in confidence.
"Excuse me, Miss?"
"She's right. I've been thinking of giving the mission to her instead, since now you have lost your way with Mr Kim."
"Oh please Sehun, you seriously think I have lost my chance with Taehyung? Sana was his first love, obviously he still has some feelings for her and he would be shaken by her death. So for a silly reason like this you shouldn't be ignoring all the efforts I had to take for the establishment of the mission!" I tried to defend myself, however I could see the stern look on Sehun's face; he wasn't buying it.
"Look Lisa-ssi, I'll be very frank with you. I empathize with you on the recent encounters you've had, especially when the news of your traumatic childhood resurfaced over the media. I had already warned you against Sana, I knew she wouldn't stop there the moment she first threatened you. Clearly, Taehyung has lost interest on you, I see no reason why you should be working in this mission."
"So what do you think, introducing her into Taehyung's life suddenly will make him fall head over heels in love with her?" I was enraged, he wasn't making any sense in his talks!
"Actually, Yeri seduced her last target within three weeks. You've been trying for months now, Miss Seductress."
"Does she have the class of working with businessmen, you say? I bet she doesn't, when all she do is lure perverted hillbillies into her honey trap. They're pretty thieves, not organized masterminds behind biological weapons. I specialize in high profile cases, sir."
"Hey, watch your mouth! Just because you're a senior doesn't mean you would make judgements on my work." Yeri narrowed her eyes, in a hurting tone.
"Ladies, can we please argue later? This isn't the time and place to fight over this." Jungkook pulled me away from Yeri, holding my hand tight.
"Yeri, please go outside. I have certain details to discuss with Miss Seductress." Sehun commanded.
"But sir-" Yeri tried to argue back but to no avail. Sehun stayed adamant on his words.
"Fine. I'll wait outside."
After she left, Sehun inched closer to me, with a smirk that terribly irked me.
"One week. I can give you only a week's time to come up with a new idea to infiltrate Vantae Corp. And that's only because I respect you. If Taehyung doesn't come back to you within this week - Yeri will step in and replace you."
"And what about Jungkook?" I asked.
"He stays on this mission no matter what. We need his technical assistance but you're the one who stays on the border line. It's a disappointment to see the Seductress is making disasters in this easy-going mission."
"Tsk." Jungkook rolled his eyes. I could notice his obvious frustration just how I was.
"Sehun, I'd like to tell you I'm not really comfortable working with new people. I am now used to working with Lisa and I preferably don't wish to change my partner. And leave it to her Sehun, she'll figure it out her own way. Lisa is best suited for this mission because the way she works is different." I felt my heart skip a beat as Jungkook defended me. I know he was risking his job for me and I didn't want to let him down - I wanted to live up to my potential. Not only because of him, but for me.
"That's not the way it works, Jungkook. I am the one leading you, so it's me who decides what's the best and what's not. We are already eight months into the mission and we've seen no beneficial progress. Here's a last warning Miss Lili; do whatever you can to get close to Taehyung again. Seduce him, sleep with him, I don't care. I want him to be wrapped around your fingers by the end of this week." He crossed his arms as he stared at my now flustered face.
"Fucking hell! She isn't going to sell herself for this mission dammit! I won't allow her to sleep with Taehyung!" Jungkook spat out in complete anger. His jaw tensioned as he gritted his teeth.
"Do you have a problem with this Jungkook-ssi?" Sehun asked him in a bland tone.
"Ofcourse! This is a very bad idea I tell you. She can't lose her dignity to get someone to trust her-"
"If you're going to interrupt me like this Jungkook its better if you please step out of the room."
Jungkook stomped out of the room in annoyance as Sehun let out a sinister laugh.
"I'm not a fool to not have an idea that you two have something more going on Lisa-ssi. Jungkook isn't what he looks like. You may not know what he's hiding behind that face of his. Goodluck for now, see you after a week Ms Seductress. I'm expecting a good outcome from you." Sehun said as he exited the conference room too, leaving me alone in a pale state.
So does Sehun know what's going on between Jungkook and I?
And what exactly did he mean when he said that Jungkook isn't who he seems to be?

I'm currently working on the epilogue of this story, though I'm very unsure about how I should end it. So I wanted a little help from you guys.
Who do you think Lisa would end up with in the end of the story?
Jungkook or Taehyung?
I want you to reply to this question in the comments, since I'll go with the ship that gets the maximum responses. Make sure you do put in your opinion down below!
