One.
The air was crisp and cloudless the first week of September, the trees bare to the world with their knarled limbs stretching to the heavens. A heavy gust of wind blew across the campus countyard as the dancing leaves crinkled beneath Byun Baekhyun's boots. His breath coming out in small puffs as he burrowed further into his coat.
He was headed to his favorite café for studying; a cute little tucked away shop run by his high school friends, Minseok and Jongdae. Who had married the year before.
Baekhyun smiled. He was happy. His life was perfect with the even balance of work and school. Things were back on track again after months and months of heartache and alcohol abuse. He was lucky. He had people who never gave up on him even when there seemed to be no hope. He was grateful for their love and support.
As Baekhyun continued the chilly walk to the café were he'd be meeting Xi Luhan —- another high school friend —- for coffee, he was waiting for the traffic to stop so he could cross the road. He was blowing on his hands to keep them warm when from the corner of his eye he noticed someone standing on the other side of the road. They looked awfully familiar.
Baekhyun frowned as he squinted for a better look. When a bus zoomed by, unblocking his view, Baekhyun gasped.
"It can't be," he whispered as he took an unconscious step forward. A car honked as they sped by and Baekhyun snapped out of it as he hopped back onto the sidewalk. He watched completely dumbfounded as the man hailed a cab.
Baekhyun saw his face once more, and this time he was sure. He could never forget that face. Those lips he had kissed so many times and that face he had spent countless hours admiring. There was simply no mistaking it . . .
"Chanyeol?" Baekhyun whispered.

The next morning when Baekhyun woke up, his head immediately began to throb. He groaned and rolled over onto his side over the edge of the bed, his stomach churning as the smell of his apartment assaulted his senses. When the sensation that he was going to throw up had passed, he slowly sat up, rubbing his temple as he glanced around his disastrous apartment.
It was a complete wreck. He had obviously been drinking the night before, if his severe headache and the beer bottles littering his floor where any indication. He bit his bottom lip and silently cursed himself. He closed his eyes and buried himself back beneath his blankets. He couldn't believe he had allowed himself after all the months of healing and counseling to drink, and then wake up without any memory of the night before with his apartment smelling the way it did. It was disgusting.
Baekhyun groaned and pulled the blanket up to his nose to block the smell. It would take him days to air the place out, and if his friends came over.... What would they think? As Baekhyun had been silently wallowing in his bad decisions, he heard the floorboards creak from to the left of his bed.
He brought someone home with him!?
Baekhyun stayed frozen beneath his blanket in utter shock and disgust at his behavior. How would he explain this to—-
"Hey, babe. God, I got so drunk last night. I think I still am," they said with a throaty chuckle.
Baekhyun's eyes widened and he threw the blankets off his upper body as he cried, "Daehyun!?"
"Ahh! Not so loud," Daehyun moaned. He lightly laughed again and muttered, "And who were you expecting?"
"I–I. . ." Baekhyun trailed off and blushed sheepishly before admittedly mumbling, "I honestly can't remember a single thing from last night."
Daehyun's eyes widened. "Seriously! You didn't even drink that much, Baek. I wouldn't let you."
"My tolerance must be low then . . ." Baekhyun mumbled.
Daehyun sighed. "Must be . . ." Daehyun muttered. "You know, we should order a pizza. It'll help with the hangover."
Baekhyun smiled. "Good idea."
"And then after we have to get a start on cleaning this place . . . I'm amazed it got this bad in only one night."
Baekhyun nodded. "Yeah . . . And what did we even do last night?"
Daehyun chuckled and kissed Baekhyun's forehead before replying, "I think that's a story for another time . . ."
Baekhyun laughed and playfully rolled his eyes as Daehyun kissed him once more, before making his way toward the kitchen. Baekhyun sighed as he settled back into bed.
So you may be wondering how I, Byun Baekhyun, am back together with Jung Daehyun? Well it's not a very complicated story. For instance, two years ago after losing someone very precious to me, I began to go into a downward spiral and Daehyun had been there for me.
He seemingly always was.
He helped me get through my grief, and got me help when I started to abuse alcohol. He was a shoulder I could always depend on to be there when I cried and had to lean on for support. He was a constant fixture in my life before and after, and he stuck by me like any good friend or boyfriend would.
He loved me even despite the heartache I put him through. And I loved him even despite knowing I would never be able to repay the goodness he's shared with me.
An three months ago he had asked me an important question. He promised to always love and support me as he had knelt down on one knee in the middle of one of my classes, declaring to the whole room that he loved me and wished for my hand in marriage.
My reaction would have been considered cliché, since I had immediately blushed and covered my face with my hands. I had lightly laughed as tears ran down my cheeks. Daehyun had stood up, and walked with a sorta slowness up the stairs to my row of desks. He got down on his knee again and softly asked, "Byun Baekhyun, will you marry me?"
My hands had fallen away from my face as I sprung from my desk and ran into his arms. I had locked them around his neck in a tight embrace, and whispered into his shoulder, "Yes, Daehyun. Of course, I'll marry you."
We were so happy. We ran out of the classroom together as people cheered and clapped. We told all our friends the same night and celebrated late into the evening with them.
Now, two years later I begin to see him again. So after all this time, what can it possibly mean...?

A/N: Hello, lovelies! How did you all like the first chapter? In-line comments only please. 😊
Anyway, I'm thinking about whether or not to turn this into a double update . . . I guess it all depends. But then again, if I do double update today, that'll throw something off late I have a feeling you won't want to wait a whole weekend for another update. Decisions, decisions.
Regardless of all that, thank you for reading. An if you would please, leave your thoughts and love for chapter one, I'd greatly appreciate it! Thank you again!
Love from,
BunnyBaekkiee ❤️
