Fourteen.

As Baekhyun slept contently in Chanyeol's warm embrace a memory, or more like a wish, floated to the forefront for his mind. It was something he had wished for when he knew Chanyeol was dying....

I don't deserve a happy ending, but Chanyeol does. Chanyeol's good, selfless, kind, caring, and loving to those who don't deserve it.

He's the one who deserves his life, and if there's some way I can give it to him, I'd do it in a heartbeat. But I can't because the world is cruel and takes anyway from the people who deserve everything good in life. Who doesn't deserve to slowly die as a monster eats away at his body bit-by-bit, day-by-day, and year-after-year until there's nothing left but a memory.

Park Chanyeol doesn't deserve to die.

Baekhyun woke up with a gasp, his hair slicked to his forehead from sweat. His breathing was unsteady as he rubbed his face and quietly whispered, "It was me. I wished for this . . ." Baekhyun laughed joyously to himself and covered his mouth as he glanced at Chanyeol. He watched him as he slept, his heart bursting with love, and unable to contain it any longer he leapt onto Chanyeol. He straddled his lap and threaded his fingers through the hair around Chanyeol's ears as he furiously pressed their lips together.

Chanyeol woke up with a soft moan as his hands slowly reached up to touch Baekhyun's waist. His hands slide up his back and into his hair as he kissed him back. When they had to breathe, although not minding if they couldn't, Chanyeol smiled as he caressed Baekhyun's cheek and huskily muttered, "What was that for?"

Small happy tears had started to roll down Baekhyun's cheeks as he whispered, "I wished for you to have a happy ending before you passed away, and I think . . ." Baekhyun trailed off as Chanyeol cupped his cheeks and whispered, "You think your wish came true?" Chanyeol smiled. Baekhyun nodded and Chanyeol happily laughed before roughly crushing their lips together.

He grinned as he kissed Baekhyun and whispered against his mouth, "Thank you, baby. Now because of you we're together again. Thank you. I love you."

"I love you more," Baekhyun whispered against his lips before deeply kissing him once more.

The next morning, Baekhyun was sitting at the kitchen table eating a bowl of cereal while Chanyeol stood over the stove making pancakes for his brother. Baekhyun was chewing as he mulled over the crossword, a habit he had developed out of boredom when he was getting help for his alcohol abuse that he had never cared to nix.

He was writing in another word when Taemin rolled into the room and slapped down a handful of papers, some of them looking a lot like old news clippings. Baekhyun frowned as he continued to chew and mumbled around his food, "What is that?"

Taemin grimaced at Baekhyun's full mouth and muttered, "Gross." He rolled his eyes.

"And this," Taemin said as he tapped the stack of papers, "is something I think that'll explain Chanyeol's return. My theory is that his life began again on the day of his family's car accident. An that until you, Baekhyun, saw Chanyeol while waiting to cross the street that one day Chanyeol had been living in an alternate dimension. I mean, it would explain how he was a twelve year old child again, and how we grew up together as kids. And scientists have been speculating about alternate dimensions for awhile now. I also read that time and space is different there, which also explains why he isn't fourteen years old but nineteen. What I can't explain is how it happened to begin with . . ." Taemin trailed off. "I mean, no offense, but why Chanyeol out of everyone who dies everyday?"

"I have my own theory for that," Baekhyun said. "When Chanyeol was dying, I wished for him to live and I believe it had been answered because there can't possibly be another explanation. But what I don't understand is why did you have to lose your family?"

"The car accident happened when I was twelve," Chanyeol said. "I was diagnosed with cancer at twelve. Maybe the accident and....losing my family had been some sort of sacrifice? Maybe for me not to die and to aquire my memories of Baekhyun in dream form I had to lose something huge . . .?" Chanyeol trailed off. "Do you think that's possible?" he whispered. "Could me being here now be at the expense of my family's lives?"

"Chanyeol . . ." Baekhyun whispered as he stood up from the table. He walked slowly towards Chanyeol and hesitated only a second before wrapping his arms around his waist and resting his head against his chest. "You can't think like that Chanyeol. And if you're looking for someone to blame for losing them you can't blame yourself because I had been the one who wished for you to live. So if anyone's to blame it's me . . ."

Chanyeol swallowed to fight back his emotion, his thumb caressing Baekhyun's cheek as he softly replied, "We shouldn't place blame. No one knew me coming back was possible and it's a miracle that it even happened. An my family would understand. They knew how much we loved each other, and I believe if they were to have ever found out the chance of me coming back was possible, they would have sacrificed for me."

Chanyeol sighed and hugged Baekhyun closer, planting a kiss on the crown of his head as he softly said, "So I'm not going to allow their sacrifice to have been for nothing. I'm going to grow old like I'm suppose to and live a long and happy life with the boy of my dreams, and I won't let anything stand between me and that future."
