Four.
Chanyeol people watched from his booth in the corner as Taemin took to the dance floor.
Chanyeol hated this place. He was completely out of his element, and felt utterly vulnerable and exposed. He hated that Taemin had insisted on dragging him here. If it was anything else, maybe Chanyeol wouldn't feel so uncomfortable.
But no, it had to be a club. It had to be a place for dancing, and have bathroom stalls that someone could run to when they were in danger of spilling the contents of their stomach from too much alcohol. It had to have men Taemin could use to his advantage; men that where lonely and seeking attention as Taemin believed Chanyeol too be.
It was all bullshit.
Chanyeol didn't need a one night stand to feel better. He needed to go home and finish his research project that was due tomorrow. He didn't need to be out pointlessly partying as he wasn't getting a single thing out of the experience, but even more contempt for places such as this one.
He just needed to go home where he fit into his picture perfect life that was slowly suffocating him. A place he knew he would be safe . . .
Chanyeol sighed as he took another slow drink of his water, his eyes doing one last glance over the room. He was preparing to call it a night and bail when sitting at the bar he noticed someone who felt strangely familiar. Their back was turned to him, but everything about their body screamed at Chanyeol. It was like he knew how the texture of their skin would feel beneath his touch . . .
Chanyeol shook his head with a gasp and squeezed his eyes shut. He took a steady breath before slowly reopening them and—-
They were gone.
Something in Chanyeol deflated as he sunk back into his seat. His heart aching for reasons he couldn't explain as images of the man sitting at the bar endless played inside his head.
He was seeing his ghost . . .
Baekhyun gasped in surprise as someone grabbed his shirt from behind and pulled him stumbling from the club. When the cool breeze of outside hit his skin and the moon mixed with artificial light flooded his vision, he sighed and breathlessly laughed as he said, "Holy shit, Lu. I thought you were a crazy axe murderer dragging me away."
"And yet you didn't scream?" Luhan asked.
Baekhyun shrugged. "Maybe I was too surprised."
Luhan scoffed and rolled his eyes. Then his face grew serious as his hand latched onto Baekhyun's wrist, and dragged him towards the street corner to hail a cab.
"What the hell where you thinking running off like that!?" Luhan yelled. "You were completely fine one moment and then—- I don't even know. But I do know that you can never ever do that again! Do you understand me, Byun Baekhyun? You scared the shit out of me!" Luhan pause to take a breath and to shove Baekhyun inside the cab before continuing, "Also, I won't say anything to Daehyun because I know you wouldn't want to worry him, what with him being so busy with wedding plans and all. But I swear, I'll say something if it happens again. I mean it, Baek, never again."
Baekhyun nodded and suppressed an eye roll as he said, "Yes, I understand, Lu. Thanks for coming to get me . . ." Baekhyun trailed off as he leaned his head on Luhan's shoulder.
Luhan sighed as he wrapped an arm around Baekhyun's shoulder and softly muttered, "You're welcome."

The sky was a perfect cloudless blue and the leaves blew gently in the breeze. Chanyeol was sitting at the base of a tree as his friend's legs dangled just above his head. Chanyeol sighed as he dragged a stick through the dirt.
"You know, if you're bored you could climb up here with me . . ." his friend coaxed.
Chanyeol shook his head and stabbed at the dirt as he replied, "I fell out of the tree last time, B."
B couldn't help but laugh as he replied, "Yeah, right after I told you to be careful not to fall."
"Yeah, and I still blame you that I did!" Chanyeol cried.
B rolled his eyes and flicked a piece of bark down onto Chanyeol's head before climbing higher. Chanyeol warned him not too, but he didn't listen, and as karma goes B slipped when repositioning his foot.
He gasped as he fell to the earth, falling onto his left arm as a painful spike shot through him upon impact. He cursed and Chanyeol couldn't help but say, "Maybe you shouldn't have laughed," before helping his friend back home.
Chanyeol had many other dreams that night, but this one was special because for the first time ever he learned the first letter to his name. It didn't feel like a coincidence, not after he saw that man sitting at the bar of the club and felt that strange sense of familiarity. Surely his dreams were trying to tell him something? Maybe they were trying to say something Chanyeol had been willing to be real all his life since he first met the boy of his dreams?
So maybe, just maybe, that first encounter was the start of many?
