Jax's POV

It's been a few weeks since everything went down at the hospital between my mother, Jessica, and me.

After I got out of the hospital, I sat down with Jess and told her everything about the club, well everything she needed to know. I also told her about my dad, and everything about my mom.

After explaining everything, she understood and decided that distance would of course be the best thing, which I'm happy she agrees on.

With her having knowledge about the Mayan's, she knew the basics of what clubs like ours do, she knows that she's safe no matter what may come up.

Sitting at the bar in the clubhouse, I hear the door opening followed by the tell all sign of heels hitting the floor, telling me mother has entered the building.

Things between my mom and I have been tense since getting out of the hospital.

She's still been trying to push the subject of divorce daily, even if I continue to fight back on it.

"Jax, you have a visitor" she tells me, before turning around to walk back outside.

"I don't have time for visitors, Jess will be here soon, tell them to come back another day" I tell her.

"You'll want to see this visitor, trust me on that one" she tells me, before walking out the door.

Letting out a sigh, I get up and walk out the door.

As soon as I'm outside, my eyes land on a familiar cutlass parked near the entrance of the shop. Scanning the lot, I spot the brunette associated with the car standing off to the side talking to my mom.

Mom points in my direction, causing the brunette in front of her to spin around to face me, a smile coming to her face. I watch as she walks across the parking lot, making her way over to me.

"Jax" she states.

"Tara" I reply, releasing a sigh.

Moving to sit on the picnic table, Tara follows me, standing directly in front of me.

"How have you been?" Tara asks.

"Cut the shit, what are you doing here?" I question.

There's a nagging voice in my brain telling me exactly why she's here, but I really hope that voice is wrong.

That my mom didn't call my ex-girlfriend to try and break up my marriage for the one person she despised up until this point.

"Your mom called me about the accident. She said you might need some help getting around for a while, also mentioned that you were asking around town for me. Figured it was time to come home, so I packed up my apartment in Chicago and moved back into my dads house" she tells me.

"Tara, she lied to you. First off, I'm fine. The shot wasn't that bad, I was released a few days ago. Secondly – "I say.

I'm cut off by a familiar Jeep pulling into the parking lot, a smile coming to my face as soon as I spot Jessica behind the wheel of the car.

Jessica gets out of the car, before looking around the lot for a familiar face, when she spots me, she walks towards us a smile on her face.

"Can you drive for me?" I'm not feeling too good today" she asks, holding out the keys for me.

"Sure can baby. By the way, Tara, this here is Jessica. Jess, this is Tara" I say.

As soon as the name leaves my mouth, a small chuckle escapes Jessica's lips.

I had given Jess a warning that this may have been my mom's play way head of time just in case anything was to happen.

Boy am I happy that I did.

"It's nice to meet you" Jessica responds, as I grab the keys from her hand.

Tara lets out a scoff, looking between the two of us.

"When did you start carting around croweaters? That's so not like you Jax" Tara questions.

I roll my eyes hearing the croweater comment.

"You must not have been told the real reason that you were called here. Jess isn't a croweater, never been here until today actually. Jessica is my wife, and she's late for an appointment, it was great to see you though Tara" I tell her.

Hopping off of the table, I grabbed Jessica's hand, helping her into the passenger seat, before making my way over to the driver's seat.

I look back at Tara who is looking between the office and me stunned, only further convincing me that my mom was really the one that set up this entire thing.

"So, that was Tara huh?" Jessica questions as we pull out off of the lot.

"Clearly send here by Gemma" I respond.

Jessica sighs, before resting her hand on top of mine.

"I'm sorry your mom is doing all of this to you, it's not fair. She shouldn't be trying so hard to push me out of your life. I understand why you kept us away from each other as long as possible, and I thank you for that" she tells me.

"I'm not worried about her at this point darlin, she will be who she wants to be. Gemma is the kind of woman that needs control, and she's lost the control she had over me" I explain.

"She still should be happy and support you no matter what though" she tells me.

I let out a sigh, parking the Jeep in front of the doctors office before turning to her, a smile on my face.

"At the end of the day, all I need is you and our little Teller. I don't need the club, I don't need her, I just need the two of you" I tell her.

Gemma's POV

"Married! You called me, telling me that Jax misses me, told me that he was asking for me when he was in the hospital only to find out that he's married Gem" Tara exclaims, walking into the office.

I sigh, setting down the papers I was looking over on my desk, before turning to Tara.

"It's a sham of a marriage. He's not in his right mind at the moment. I know he misses you; he just won't admit it. Besides, you moved back for him, it'll all work out" I tell her.

Tara sits down on the couch next to my desk, before turning to me.

"Why are you so against this marriage Gemma? You should have seen his face when he saw her, it was like she was the only person in the world. What has you so against this?" she asks.

I light a cigarette, lighting it before turning my attention to her.

"You know how my son is with me Tara, he doesn't hide anything from me. Yet here I was at the hospital finding out that he was married. Didn't tell me, he hid it from me. He had this whole other life that I had no idea about. Something isn't right here, I thought maybe seeing you would change his mind" I tell her.

Tara gives me a sad expression, before shaking her head.

"He's happy Gemma, let him be happy" she tells me.

"Whatever Tara, just try again" I tell her.
