Chapter 39: Mirror

Everyone went down to breakfast in a downright jolly mood. There was only about 50 kids staying for Christmas break so the great hall was very spread out, but that didn't stop the joyful chatter coming from the different corners of the room. They ate plates of toast and jam, eggs, bacon, sausage, and pastries.

Once that was finished they all headed upstairs. Harry and Ron went up to their dorms discussing something under their breath, but Rose didn't think much of it. Her and the twins played a few games of exploding snap before they went off to go set up a few well thought out pranks.

Rose wandered though the halls for a while. Searching the whimsical school for more nooks and crannies. Rose loved to try to debunk the mystery of the school. She came to a locked door and with a wicked grin unlocked it with a surge of power through her hand.

Inside the room held only a large object covered by a sheet. There were no desks or chairs or anything of that sort to suggest a use for the room. Rose quickly went over to the covered object and
scanned it over looking for anything to deter her form looking at what was under there.

She grabbed two fistfuls of the tarp and pulled, exposing what lay under along with a sheet of dust. It was a long mirror. The frame was delicately crafted, with jewels and a flowering inscription on the bottom. Rose stood in front of the mirror curiously.

She suddenly jumped back form the mirror. What she saw she almost couldn't comprehend. Inside the mirror was her, but different. She looked older, like a seventh year almost. At her sides where Hermione, Harry, Ron, Neville, George. All of them looked older, more mature. There was so much power around them. In the background the castle was in ruins! There was more people but Rose didn't stare into it long enough to figure out who they where.

She pulled the tarp over the mirror again and shook her head. She didn't know what all that was about but she didn't want anything to do with it. Rose left the room how it was when she came in and locked the door again. Then she walked down to the kitchens to say hi to the house elves and Chance. But even then she couldn't get that image out of her head.

What ever that was It didn't look good Rose resolved. She would try to forget about it till later on. She came back up to the common room and sat down next to Ron and Harry who were playing wizard chess next to the fire. Just as she was feeling herself drift off into her thoughts someone came from behind and covered her eyes.

"Guess who?" George said. Rose smiled and turned around to see she was right. "It's time to go down to the feast!" Him and Fred said in unison. Rose stood up so fast he knocked over the chess board and the pieces went flying all over. Before they could hit the ground Rose reached out and they froze midair. She guided them over and put them in starting position. Rose smiled cheekily. The twins looked at her dumbfounded while Ron just mutter something about her being a show off.
