Move In

"Jada, wake up. Wake up."

I groan tiredly, light starting to shine in my eyes.

I squint my eyes, then open them slowly. Getting them to focus, I flutter them a couple times. It's Derek!

"The plane just stopped. We need to leave now." He reassures me.

I nod then sit up. I stretch my arms and legs and let out a big yawn. My body slowly warms back up.

"Did you have a good sleep last night?" Derek smirks crossing my arms.

"Y̶O̸U̷ ̷W̶O̷N̷'̸T̵ ̵B̷E̸ ̷A̴B̴L̴E̵ ̸T̶O̴ ̸S̷L̸E̷E̵P̶ ̸O̴N̴C̸E̴ ̸I̴'̸M̴ ̶D̷O̴N̸E̵ ̷W̴I̴T̴H̴ ̷Y̶O̴U̷!̶"

The voice is different this time. It's more erratic than the last one. And from the aggravation in the tone, it makes me jump.

"Are you okay..?" Derek asks frowning.

"Yeah, I'm okay. Sorry." I sheepishly giggle.

Derek raises an eyebrow at me, he seems to be catching on that somethings up but he would never understand that the problem is voices. I'm just traumatized, that's the logical explanation.

We walk out of the plane then collect our bags. I say my goodbye to Zeneka and Derek then me and dad walking outside the building.

I look around, all the trees, buildings, people and flora is different to New Zealand. My eyes filled with wonder, Scotland really is a lovely place.

Specifically, it's more beautiful yet cold. Snow surrounds the windows of tall buildings, covers the streets and smothers everyone and everything around, I shiver yet delighted. I love it!

A smile grows on my face, and my eyes filled with wonder. I LOVE SNOW!! I always have even so I've never touched real snow in my entire life. I bend down and pick it up with my bare hands.

Chills run through my entire hand, the snow is freezing! But as I rub it around in my hand, it's a little spiky yet soft.

Snow cones...

"Jada, why are you eating snow?" My father asks.

I gag, eating the snow is nice but not when I get scared!! Snow tastes nice...

"Snow cones..?" I ask sheepishly.

My dad shakes his head in disapproval then walks near the end of the sidewalk. I pull a 'Baka' face and follow behind him.

"Hey, taxi!!" Dad calls out.

A taxi pulls up on the side of the road and dad goes around the to the trunk to put his bags inside. I do the same and once we're completely done we head inside the backseat of the taxi.

I sit in the warm taxi and the air inside is filled with cologne. Male cologne always makes me want to gag. I have this thing...

"Where do we want to we want to go today?" The male asks in an Irish accent.

"D̸I̵E̷,̴ ̷D̷I̷E̸,̴ ̶D̸I̶E̶!̸"

I shake the voice out of my head, my throat closing up through fear. This voice is really tripping me out.

Before I know it, the taxi is moving and heading to our destination. I watch the window as streets, buildings, flora and so much more wiz by the taxi in a calm, relaxing speed.

"W̴e̷ ̸w̵i̷l̸l̶ ̷h̸a̴v̶e̷ ̵l̴o̴t̷s̴,̶ ̵A̷N̶D̸ ̶L̴O̶T̷S̸ ̶o̵f̸ ̸t̷i̷m̵e̸ ̶t̵o̷ ̷p̵l̸a̴y̶ ̷t̴o̴g̶e̴t̵h̴e̷r̴.̵ ̵J̶u̵s̶t̴ ̵y̷o̴u̵ ̵W̴A̶I̸T̷.̴"

I force my eyes shut, hoping for the voice to go away. What do they want from me? What's their goal? Please just go away...

* * *

The taxi finally stops and I look up to my right.

I see a two-story white house, with a wooden door, a white deck and lots of windows. I've always wanted to live in a two story house...

Me and dad walking out the taxi and claim our stuff from the taxi. He drives off and we walk toward the house. This house is nice, it goes well with the snow theme.

So I guess this is where I'm living now...

"Tsk, tsk, tsk~."

I look behind me to see if anyone is around, but there isn't really anyone outside today. Not on a snowy day like this. If I didn't think they were certainly voices in my head before, I do now.

I shrug it off the minute I face forward, desperate to get inside to get warmer.

As soon as dad unlocks the door, I race upstairs with my bags. I run into one of the rooms and shut the door behind me. The house is still however a little cold.

This room is mine...

I turn to face the room and my mind fills with shock. This room is already made ready to go. In the corner of the room, is a purple corner bed with my favorite silver pillow Tabby gave me on my fifteenth birthday. But my anger rises.

There in the middle of the bed, fast asleep is a real, small, German Shepherd and a small Daschund.

I walk calmly out the room to not wake the dog then close the door behind me. I thought he would get the point!

Dad looks up at me, confused on my furious face.

"You brought two dogs didn't you?" I growl crossing my arms.

"What, no! I said I'd let you choose. I didn't buy any dogs." He says, getting annoyed at my accusation.

"Then why are there two dogs in that room? I don't want to replace Shelby yet!" I hiss through gritted teeth, pointing to the door.

Confused, dad walks to the door and opens it up. He claims the same confused face I had.

"This is my gift to you. Women should be, treated like queens~."

A shiver goes down my spine. Who brought the dogs?

Dad walks out, carrying the dogs. I gasp as he puts them in my arms and they start to squirm.

"Well these dogs were brought for us specifically. It was left by the house owners especially for us." Dad says waving a piece of paper around.

I roll my eyes. That's not from the house owners...

I walk back to my room and close the door behind me. I put the dogs down on the bed and face my back to them.

"Bark!"

I let out a sigh. Normally I'd love to have a dog, these are my favorite two breeds! But it almost feels like if I let them in then it'll replace Shelby. I held him close to my heart.

The room has a blue, soft carpet and a window a couple inches to the right of the bed. There's a big closet on the left of the room and a black, empty shelf that stacks up to five layers, Inches off from the roof.

I walk out of my room and look around. There's a bathroom at the end of the room, a bedroom on the right and a spare bedroom beside mine. I look up, and there's a hatch.

My eyes widen. An attic? I jump up and grab the handle then pull it down. A ladder falls down to show a third floor, or the attic. I decide to climb up the ladder and make my way up. The ladder is a little creaky and shaky, as if it's unstable.

Curious, I poke my head up and look around. On the right, is an old, dark wooden desk. A light from the lamp continues to flicker and a computer with a blank blue screen is on. Otherwise, the room is empty and single high window on the left.

*Ding Dong, ding dong*

The doorbell? Weird.

"Jada, can you get that?" Dad calls.

I groan loudly then slide down the ladder. It would be best not to do that all the time...

I push it back up again and close the hatch. I walk downstairs and toward the door, and I peek through the little sightseeing thing.

Huh?
