I'm Hearing Voices
Dad, me, Zeneka and Derek finally get to the front of the line and hand in our tickets.
"So where do you want to sit? We can sit anywhere." Derek says looking toward me.
He wants me to sit with him..?
"Um, Zeneka. Where do you wanna sit?" I ask, Derek laughs at me a little.
"What's so funny?" I ask smirking.
"Can't be bothered answering?" He asks smirking.
It seems to be that Derek is a bit of a jokester and runs smoothly.
"I can answer, but I think it'd be better for Zeneka to choose." I grin.
Zeneka suddenly sits in a spot to the right for a window seat and Derek sits beside her. That space is two seated so I sit behind them.
I look out the window to see the wing of the plane and to see more people pile in, and the building itself.
I flinch, I feel a paper ball hit me on the face then it lands on my lap. Furiated, I look up. Derek grins at me from the top of the chair before hiding back down. I raise an eyebrow, what makes him so sly to hit a lady with a paper ball? I shrug, unwrapping the paper ball. It's a number. His cell I suppose.
I copy the number into my phone and label it under his name. Derek~
J: Is this Derek?
D: It is indeed
I look up, holding in my laughter and he does the same as he looks over the chair. He's a little derpy, but that's nice.
"What are you doing..?" Zeneka asks innocently, standing up to look over the chair.
"Not much, don't worry Zeneka." Derek winks.
D: What part of Scotland are you going to?
J: Edinburgh
D: :o
J: Don't tell me...
D: Edinburgh
J: 😱😂😂
D: 😂😂😂
At this point, we're both giggling loudly down at our phones, and a couple of passengers look our way. I don't mind though, I'm used to this.
"Are you, having fun~?"
My face drops suddenly as I hear that voice loud and clear. However, no one else looks confused or looks around for that voice, or talking to me for that matter. Derek doesn't either which gives me the idea that the voice was in my head all along.
But who's this voice? It's a chilling voice, a scary one. Yet I recognize it a little, but I can't put my finger on it. Who's talking to me?
"What's the matter?" Derek asks peeking over the chair.
I shake my head, getting the thoughts out of my head. "Nothing, I'm good." I grin.
He looks at me as if trying to read me. It doesn't take him long before he squints his eyes as if I'm mysterious. "I can read people well Jada. Something bothers you right now."
I almost feel amazed, how could he tell something was bothering me? Is he a professional or something?
"Please drop it, yeah somethings bothering me but you wouldn't believe it." I sigh.
"Sis stay here." I hear him whisper.
What? Oh C'mon!
"Try me." He says walking up and sitting down beside me.
Well, at least he's serious when he needs to be...
"What's going on?" Zeneka peaks over the chair.
"We're gonna chat with each other. As friends." He smiles.
"Okie Dokie!" Zeneka chirps before sitting back down.
When Derek turns to me, his face is 100% serious. It gives me a strange feeling in chest.
"If you noticed my badge, it's a police badge. Bronze. Silver. Gold. Titanium. Superior." He says showing it over, not sparing a single smile. He has a golden badge. He must be good at what he does to earn that...
I stay silent, staring at his dead serious face. It's almost frightening...
"You can talk to me. I won't tell anyone."
No way am I telling him. He'll think I'm weird or going crazy!
I decide to pull the I don't know you well card on him in the next sentence so I have an excuse to get out of this situation. I don't want to pull him into something that's probably nothing. Right..?
"Derek I don't know you well. You seem like a nice guy, but this is personal. Please don't pester me about it."
He nods, still serious. "That's okay. I understand. But I'm in the police force at a younger age than most because my father works as an officer and he allowed me to participate after a couple years of training. I'm good at what I do, so if you need to talk about it or need help from officers, it'll be between me and you."
I nod, and genuine smile. "Thanks, Derek. I appreciate it."
His smile returns and his facelifts with relief. Phew...
"What reasons do you have to talk with someone who thinks they're, good as a child officer~?"
I shake it out of my head. No matter how many times I hear that voice I can't put my finger on who it is. What is so chilling about the voice in my head?
* * *
I look out the window as I stare into the night sky, as we drift above the clouds and into the stars. It's really beautiful, I've already taken a couple photos. Derek returned to Zeneka and I think the two are asleep in front of me. Most people are.
But that figure two nights ago. The voice in my head. The latest video on Jack's channel, it doesn't help me sleep. With all of this together, something's going down. This has to be more than a coincidence.
"Get some rest, you're next few days will be, calm. But only for now~."
The voice makes me shiver in my seat, I have a jacket and warm tights on ready for the Scotland winter. Snow and ice is what I'm looking forward to. Oh boy!! That still gives me hope, even with the voice in my head. I love snow! Even so I never touched snow...
Sometimes when I look out the window, I feel eyes piercing onto me but when I eventually look back, it's gone. How would Derek believe something so childish? He wouldn't, and telling him would be pointless and time wasting. He deals with more real stuff, he's an officer! He wouldn't have time for Paranormal stories.
"Time that you love to spare will be gone after a week. Sooner or later, you will be under our power~."
I hate it. I hate it so much. These voices. Are they telling the truth? Are they lying? I don't know what to believe! It's all too scary, all too fake...
"What is there to fake in, pain~?"
