Chapter 8

I dedicate this chapter to Wattpad for allowing this to be so amazing. They created this app that took over my life.

"Time to go. Now." Chelsea says forcefully.
"Agreed," Sarah opens the door. "Come on, let's go."
We all seem to agree now is a good time to leave and we run out of the room and through the tunnel.
It's a dark sprint, again, and we exit it and push down the lion.
"What now?" Chelsea asks nervously.
"We head back," Elizabeth replies.
"Nice work, Captain Obvious," I shoot back. "Duh."
"Well, what else would I say?"
"Nothing, I guess,"
"Let's just go, we don't have time for this," Sarah cuts in.
"Good point," Chelsea agrees.
We walk through the woods. Every once and a while, Chelsea looks back, as if we're being followed. The only noise in these woods are the leaves crunching and occasional twigs snapping, and no conversation.
"What do we do?" Chelsea whispers loudly. She constantly fails to do it quietly.
"Strategize, but we need to go and get those folders to prove anything." Elizabeth always thinks of something.
Chelsea stops dead in her tracks. "What?!" She says. "We can't go back there!"
"We have no other option."
"Who cares? Save our skins!"
"We don't have the time to argue! Sarah's parents will wonder where we went if we're out too long!" I try to reason.
"She's right. My parents are overprotective as well."
"Then let's keep moving. And not turn around." Chelsea glares at Elizabeth.
"I know, I know."
After that, it's silent all the way back. When we reach her house, her mom is reading the newspaper and her dad is not home from work yet. Elizabeth checks her phone.
"It's 6:05," She says. Already?
"Come on, then. Let's eat!" Sarah is referred to as a black hole. That girl can eat!
"Would you girls like some pizza?" Her mom questions.
"That would be so wonderful, Mrs. Landen." Chelsea never forgets her manners.
"How about you girls?"
"That sounds great," It just sounds so good right now.
"Yes, mom, we would like that. Thanks!" She smiles at her.
"Alright, let's get Papa Gino's tonight."
"Alright!" Sarah shouts.
After playing games to pass the time, we eat our dinner. Elizabeth and I wanted bacon and the other two wanted cheese, so we did a half cheese half bacon large pizza.
"Mmmm!!!" Sarah takes her first bite. She lives to eat!
We enjoy a good moment while it lasts. Little did we know that danger lurked in the shadows and this moment would be ruined.
After watching Elizabeth's favorite movie, Divergent, we get ready for bed. It's a decent movie. That's what I always say, but whenever I do, I get pillows thrown at me while they say, "ITS WAY MORE THAN DECENT!!!!! TRY THE BOOK!!!!!" I'm sorry, but I don't really have time if there's evil teachers trying to get us.
After we brush and get ready for bed, we snuggle in our sleeping bags. I love sleepovers.
I fall into the darkness of sleep quickly.
I wake to a roar, "Surprise!"
We look up at a horrific sight. We screech at the principal that's half T-rex. We try to run, but we're no match for her. She grabs us and throws us into her giant mouth filled with teeth meant for ripping, shredding, and tearing. She uses them on us, but as soon as she impales me, I'm no longer there. I'm in the bedroom. It was a dream.
I hear what I think is Elizabeth's footsteps. I'm a light sleeper, and I think she's just going to the bathroom. She has the loudest footsteps, so they have to be hers.
I hear a gasp, but it's quickly silenced. What was that?
I'm half asleep, so I shrug it off as my imagination. I'm quickly welcomed back into the dark abyss of sleep. I can't remember my dream.
I wake up to a panicked Sarah, a sleeping Chelsea, and an empty sleeping bag. Elizabeth always heads to the bathroom as soon as she wakes up, but Sarah...
I shake Chelsea awake.
"Mmmghmmm..." she groans. "What time is it?" is what I think she says, but I can't be sure. I look at the clock.
"11:35, but something's wrong with her," I point out.
"We should get Elizabeth," Chelsea says matter-of-factly. "It could have to do with the you-know-what."
"No, we need to help her now. We'll get her after."
"Fine."
Sarah looks over at us. Her nail beds are chewed as much as they could be. She only chews her nails when there's something horribly wrong. She gave Chelsea even more nerves. She never gets worried. Ever. She's always together and emotionally and mentally stable.
"Guys, come. Now. I still haven't broke the news to my mom yet." Her voice is shaky.
"Broken what news?" I ask patiently. Just because she freaking out doesn't mean I need to be. Chelsea didn't get the memo.
"What happened? Are you and Elizabeth okay?" She seems half as scared as Sarah.
"You didn't piece it together, did you? Don't you see?" She sobs into her hands. I would expect Elizabeth to be back already.
"Piece what together?" I ask worriedly.
"Elizabeth. She's not in the bathroom, or in this house. She's gone."
