I can't take this right now. We're going to get caught. I have to say something.
"Run, bolt away right now! Go, go!" I whisper.
We all sprint, and I see a slight light. They opened the door, but I can't look back. It'll slow me down.
"Hey! Who's there!? Come back here!! Were going to get you, there's no hiding!" I hear the principal's voice boom through the tunnel and echo for about a minute, and we run out. We're all blinded by the light, but there's no stopping. We turn for the woods. I look back for one second, and they're coming out, blinded and entirely out of breath. Fear takes over. She looks our way. She can't tell who we are because the trees are in the way.
"You, come back here!" She screeches with full anger and full disgust. We can't say anything or she'll remember that voice. They're smart enough, too. Of course they are.
We bolt and sprint through the woods, and we reach the end and I feel like sleeping for a day right here, right now. We can't say anything we're breathing so heavy and it's heavy enough to lead her to us if she followed long enough and our tiny turns to throw her off.
I look where we are. We reached the end, and there's a slight slope to a road in the middle of more woods. We recognize where this is. It's really close to Sarah's house. We went that far?
Elizabeth reads my thoughts. "We ran quite a while!"
"Ya think?" Sarah says with a sly smirk. She's trying to lighten the mood, and it works for a second. We smile for a few moments.
"We should walk home now, especially since she might have followed us," says Chelsea, making a point.
"Yeah. Bye guys," I wave.
They say bye and wave, and we part ways. Sarah goes straight, Elizabeth and Chelsea go left, and I go right. The only reason we all know where we're going is because of the countless rides to each other's houses.
I walk down the street and it's about a 30 minute walk. When I get home, my parents are doing their things, like stuff around the house and reading the newspaper.
"Hi, Sally, how was it?"
What? How was what? But then I remember that I was "at a friend's house."
"Good. It was really fun," I lie.
"Great, glad to hear that." She smiles at me. I smile back.
I go upstairs to my ringtone. My friends beat me back. I read the texts.
Dear my three best friends,
Text me when you guys get back. I'll be sitting here thinking while I'm waiting, since I think I have a while.

Hi Sally, glad you're here. Now..... what should we do about all this? Ideas? Sarah replies.
We could set a trap up for them and use evidence to get them in trouble, Chelsea suggests.
We don't even know what theyre planning tho, Elizabeth types quickly. She always does.
I type a crazy idea that would at least tell us what they're doing. We could find out lets go in there now while they're probable searching for us in the woods or on that road, it reads.
Elizabeth replies first. That might work, im totally doing tat, are you guys in on this action
Of course I am, I text back.
I will I guess let's do this, Chelsea says as if not sure.
Well, guys, that seems dangerous, but I'm going with you. I'm not going to be the only one not going and I want to know what's in there. But how are we going to back to the school with our parents at home? Sarah replies. Dang it, I didn't think of that.
Sleepover? We can cut through the woods and go to your house and tell ur mom were walking after were done and u can say u were going to get us when u leave, Elizabeth gives the solution.
Yes perfect lets go now, I reply.
Ditto to sally😋 I can picture her saying that with a derpy face after.
Alright. I'll meat you guys at school. See you there! :D Sarah types emojiless. She doesn't have emojis.
After a walk (trying to get no wrong turns it's not like I know that route by heart) to school, I meet them at the lion. They're already there. They beat me again.
Elizabeth asks desperately, "Can I please push the lion down? I know it's a silly question, but, I just think it's so cool and it would be super awesome to do 'the honors' of pushing it down-"
I laugh, cutting her off. "Alright, alright, go ahead. It doesn't matter who does! Go on, do it." I giggle a little more.
She pushes it down and has a really funny "little child is amazed with that" face and I almost crack up. It opens, and the face gets even funnier and I can't hold it in. I snort. My friends give me weird looks and laugh and I laugh too. Even in the face of danger, we still have fun.
After walking along, there are no voices.
"Nobody's in there!" Chelsea "whispers."
"Yeah, but don't run into the door, just in case!" Elizabeth teases her.
"Oh, shut up," She says in a half laughing voice.
I look ahead and I see the door the tiniest bit, right in front of my face.
"Guys it's right here! Stop!" I warn them. They stop.
"Ready to see what's inside? I'm not sure I am," Sarah seems worried.
"Come on, Sarah, let's do this. On three. One, two, three!"
I open the door on three, and we gasp, looking at our surroundings.
