"Oh, God, are you kidding me?" Chelsea asks.
"Nope," Sarah says, I'm guessing her face still pale.
"Well, we can all tell nobody wants to stay in the tunnel, all in favor of going in the room say 'I,'" I say.
"I," came the first reply. Sarah.
"I," came the second. Chelsea.
"Well, then, let's go."
We walk down the long tunnel to the room. Again, complete silence. There's nothing to talk about. Until Sarah piped up.
"Do you think they have a lever? To, like, open the tunnel entrance inside the room?"
"No, why would they need one?" Chelsea wonders.
"Oh, I dunno, maybe the fact that when we found them in here, the tunnel was closed?" She spoke like we were five-year-olds who didn't understand anything. But, she did make a point.
Chelsea was convinced, but then questioned again. "What if someone was above and closed it for them?"
"What are the chances of that? I mean, come on. And they wouldn't trust someone that much, would they?" Wow, she's smart. "We could get out."
"Lets look, then, and if we can find our way out, we'll go. But if we know anything about them, they like to keep hidden," I comment.
"Alrighty, then. C'mon," Sarah agrees.
When we open the door, we start searching immediately. In the not-so obvious places, we find nothing. In the obvious places, we find nothing because we didn't look in any. We found secret compartments filled with more plans, details, etc. It seemed like a good idea to save them, so we did.
I found food in one of them, and some mysterious force had me eat it before I could tell them. It seemed like a good idea to tell them about that.
"I, umm, ate some food in a cabinet when you weren't looking," I said, unsure how to say that. Their looks said it all. "I don't know how or why."
"What do you mean?" Sarah seemed uncomfortable as Chelsea asked the question.
I told them about the mysterious force that made me eat it.
"Where did you find this food?" Sarah wondered.
"Over there," I point to the secret cabinet in the wall.
"I always keep this with me," Sarah took out some sort of calculator-looking thing and pushed a button. A thermometer-looking stick popped out and she pushed it against the food plate. "Good thing it finally comes in handy."
"But what is it?" Chelsea can't contain her questions.
"Oh, God." Sarah murmured.
"Why? What is it? What does it do?" I can't contain mine either.
"It senses danger in items. Poison, enchantment, or any other kind of danger. I didn't believe in the enchantment part, but that's not important. What's important is this: the levels are extremely high. And you are in extreme danger.
