I'll never forget the lake when I was little,

As I splashed in the water and soaked my pants.

As I built piles of driftwood and hunted for agates.

As I explored the beach of the island.

I'll never forget the waterfalls when I was young.

They thundered down and splashed me.

I climbed on the rocks and leapt between the ones in the water.

I ran through the trees and posed for pictures with my siblings.

I'll never forget the lighthouse when I was small.

How big it seemed and how long it took to get to the top.

How high up it was and how far I could see.

How fascinated I was with the stories of sunken ships.

I'll never forget the North Shore all those years ago.

How we always stayed with family friends.

How we went every year, until we didn't.

I didn't return until recently and saw it all again.
