The Lord is our help

Psalm 3:2 "Many there be which say of my soul, There is no help for him in God."

At times, people around us may look at us as though we are failures. We may look at ourselves as failures. I believe all of us strive for perfection in some area of our lives, whether it be sports, academics, music, or living right. And yet we all fall short. In Romans 6:23, the Bible says we all fall short of the glory of God. God is perfect and us, well to say in the least we are not.

And the fact that we aren't perfect, makes us feel as if there is no hope for us! Many say that there is no help for us. Yet notice the next verse of Psalm 3.

Psalm 3:3 "But thou, O Lord, art a shield for me; my glory and the lifter up if mine head."

God is a shield for us. He protects us! He is our glory! We ought not to take pride in anything we do, but in everything that God is!!

But lastly notice this. God is the lifter up of mine head. When you are discouraged, turn to God. But as I say that, I do not mean tell God to accept your faults if they are sins as okay habits He has to deal with. God is holy and he cannot abide sin in our lives.

I often get discouraged with myself when I fail to do right. But I do not go to God and expect Him to deal with my sin. I confess and ask Him to help me with that sin! He is faithful and just to forgive us of our sins and to cleanse us of all unrighteousness!!

That God forgives is enough to encourage me!!! Yet more than that He loves me and is more than willing to help in every part of my day. When I am discouraged about school, He is there to encourage. When I fail at sports (which is all the time!), He is there to encourage. Run to Him and He will aid!!
