Before the storm

Everything was fine, before the storm. Before the storm of feelings, emotions, words, actions, and pain. Everything was perfect before that. Before my father left. Before my mother started being a total jerk. So, I left. I left it all behind, and ran away. Was I right? Was I wrong? I have no idea. But I've had enough. I can't take it anymore.
Oh, sorry. I'm Brindalynn. You can call me 'Brin.' I ran to the mountains. The tallest mountain in particular, because I might be caught going anywhere else. It's not like anyone would've noticed me leaving. I mean, it's not the first time I've ran off. Only this time, I won't come back.
I dashed up the mountain side, being careful not to fall. If I fell, this run away was for nothing. I kept running, until I found a cave. It was almost dark, so I decided to stay in that cave for the night. I darted into the cave, and turned the corner before realizing there was a huge hole in the cave's floor. I had made it a point to be careful in this cave. I was clumsy, so that wouldn't be easy. I opened my black backpack that I had with me, and grabbed a can of sweet corn. I grabbed a sharp-ish rock, and tried to pry it open, to no avail. I threw the rock in anger. I grabbed my pocket knife out of my bag, and still failed. I stomped my foot on the ground, but forgot about the hole. I tried to stay balanced, but fell into the hole. The fall may have taken roughly twenty minutes, but it felt like years.
As I braced myself for a hard landing, I was surprised by a bush that broke my fall. Why was there a bush here? The fall hurt, but it was probably thanks to the bush that I was even alive.
I was able to stand, but not for long. I looked around for my pocket knife. I knew I had fallen with it. I'm lucky it didn't fall near me. I found it and picked it up, before realizing that someone else was here. I had an idea. I found a stick, thick and long enough that I could walk with. I cut it off with my knife, and started towards the voice. "Hello? Is anyone there?" I asked. "Stay where you are, human! You're probably hurt." The voice, which seemed to be a boy my age responded. The word 'human' made no sense though. At least, not until he turned up. "Are you alright? Oh no, you are hurt!" He was a dog, but he acted like a human. He was adorable. (Little authors note here, this is the only book that contains my own drawing of Ausdin! Continue, I apologize for any inconvenience.)

"Come on. I'm Ausdin." He said, hastily. I expected whoever was down here to be more hostile. "T-That's an unusual name. No offense." I said. "None taken," He replied, "It was a combination the king had made. He combined the human name, 'Austin' with the the name of another monster. The king is believed to be in love with the monster girl. Her name was Dalina."
"Wow. That's really interesting." For a moment, talking to Ausdin distracted me from the pain of the fall. I may have just jinxed that. "Mom! We have a predicament." Ausdin shouted. The other voice responded, "Did another human fall?"
"Yeah! That's exactly the problem." Ausdin stated. The woman who came in look almost identical to Ausdin. She held this light in her hands. Something happened, and I didn't feel as sore. I still felt light-headed though.
"Are you alright? I hope thou is not severely injured." I was surprised by how these two reacted to a intruder in their cave. "I'm fine, just a little sore. Thanks."
"You need rest, sweet child. Ausdin shall show you to the spare room. That shall be your room for however long thy wish it to be."
"Thank you, but where are we, exactly?"
"This is a place called Lonerock. You may have heard the legends of humans vanishing after venturing into the mountains. 'Tis because they all did what you did. Thou has followed in their footsteps."
"So...how can I leave?" I asked.
"That's why they vanished. They...They died, human." Ausdin said, with a sorrowful look on his face. "I'm sorry. I forgot to introduce myself. My name is Brindalynn." I said, to lighten to mood.
His expression went from sad to excited. "Oh, can I call you Lynn-Lynn?"  He had those adorable puppy eyes. "Sure!" I said, ecstatically. "I apologize, as well. I am Dalina." I gasped. "You're the one Ausdin mentioned!"
"You may say that, Brindalynn. I assume thou would like to get some rest, now." She said.
"Yeah. Thanks."
Ausdin dashed down the hall. I could barely keep up, so I was thankful when he slowed down. "Here we are! When you wake up, come on out. Mom is making cake!" He said, excitement filling his voice. If I didn't know better, I would think he breathes the stuff!
"Alright. Thanks, and I'm calling you 'Auzzie' if you call me 'Lynn-Lynn.'" I smiled at saying that, it made him seem happy. I don't know why but I have a strange feeling around him. I get a bit nervous, maybe even anxious. It's complicated and difficult to describe. I feel happy around him, to say the least. "Lynn-Lynn! You gonna go to bed? Sorry! I'm not tryna be pushy." He seemed as nervous as I am. "It's fine Auzzie. I just spaced out. I'll talk to you, later. Alright?" I responded.
"Alright." He said, as he walked off, a little more anxious than he was five minutes ago. He seemed to be socially anxious, or something. Maybe shy? No. He's outgoing and cheerful. Perhaps he's just had a bad day or something.
I stepped in the room and fell face first into the bed. After that, I immediately fell asleep.
