Chapter 5
I wonder what's going to happen now. As the author, I should really know these things but whatever...

"He took both of them down on his own and didn't get a scratch on him," Vegar could be heard saying from oitside of the new tent. (Y/n) recognized his voice now but what did it matter? He was tied up again with extra ropes for reinforcement. If he really wanted to, (y/n) could simply escape. The inside of the smaller tent was empty aside from the sand, and (y/n) was getting pretty bored having stayed there for the past fifteen minutes.
"Well they're afraid of you. That's for sure," Zhu muttered.
"I'm sure it's you they're afraid of, not me. I'm not a nine tailed soul sucker," (y/n) thought.
"You sure did look like one not too long ago. They should be glad we saved their little village," Zhu said.
"You forgot that we're the reason the village was attacked in the first place," (y/n) sighed. A sudden noise caught his attention and he looked as far behind him as he could only to see that Star had snuck in through the back of the tent. It seemed like he'd dug through the sand to be able to fit under the well built tent.
"Before you say anything, I'm not here to free you. They're probably going to do that anyway," Star whispered.
"I didn't ask you to. Why are you in here? Won't you get into trouble or something?" (y/n) whispered back.
"Maybe, maybe not. I just wanted thank you for saving my life is all. Don't let the apology go to your head though. I still don't trust you!" Star whispered with a slight frown.
"Star, leave him alone!" Vegar could be heard saying from outside of the tent.
Star flinched and quickly scrambled back the way he came leaving (y/n) in solitude again. He stared back at the tent's front and only real entrance and waited for Vegar or someone to walk in. Just as expected, Vegar walked into the tent but someone unfamiliar followed him in. "Did he give you a name?" the stranger asked Vegar who simply shook his head.
"This is our cheif, Karu. He wants to know your name," Vegar said.
(Y/n) looked to Vegar with narrowed eyes. "Why should I tell you my name when you're probably just going to kill me? Until I'm told what's going to happen to me, you aren't getting any valuable information," (y/n) said. The cheif Karu nodded for some strange reason.
"He is a smart one but he cannot stay. Pack him a bag and have him leave the village immediately," Karu said and promptly stepped out.
"Just cause I'm different doesn't mean I'm a threat," (y/n) muttered.
"Not a threat but a potential ally. We can't have you associated with us or else you'll be included with us whenever we're targeted. He wants me to send you to Sander. It's practically an oasis there," Vegar said.
"Still, don't you think it's a bit harsh? Well, no. Of course you don't. You live here," (y/n) said with a sigh. "Hey, Zhu, I'm getting tired of these ropes. Could you help me out?"
"No. You can do it yourself. My power is your power we share the same soul at the moment so you can access my power on your own. Besides, you broke the ropes by yourself the first time. I supoose you don't know your own strength when you aren't thinking about it," Zhu replied.
(Y/n) suddenly had the urge to look up and see that Vegar was glaring at him. "Don't," he warned.
"I didn't even do anything," (y/n) said with an eye roll but wondered how Vegar had known he was about to try taking the ropes off of hinself.
"I'll free you when I get back. If you take those ropes of now, you're making things worse for yourself. That other presence is a bad influence on you," Vegar said.
"This other presence saved my life twice. You don't really know him. It's rather bold of you to assume he's a bad influence," (y/n) said having taken slight offense from Vegar's statement. Vegar, however, seemed to have been amused by the response he got.
"So this other presence is a he. And it seems the two are you are good friends, yes?" Vegar said.
"You're annoying," (y/n) huffed, realizing that Vegar was only trying to get him to leak information.
"And you're a nuisance," Vegar said but he wasn't being serious. (Y/n) could tell.
"I thought your chief told you to do something and yet you're still here," (y/n) said with a tilt of his head.
"Well excuse me for trying to be friendly. I thought I made a bad first impression but I guess not. Maybe I'm not scary enough," Vegar said.
"Not by far," (y/n) agreed. (Y/n) had been nowhere near afraid of Vegas when he first saw him.
"I'll be back then. You better not leave the tent. I'll take you straight to Sander and see if I can get someone I know to do me some favors," Vegar announced. (Y/n) just gave him an "ok then, leave" look to which Vegar frowned. "Strange indeed," he muttered before leaving. As soon as Vegar was gone, (y/n) snapped free of the ropes one by one somewhat surprised by how easily they broke.
"You sure you had nothing to do with that?" (y/n) asked.
"Not entirely but I really didn't do anything," Zhu replied. (Y/n) rubbed his wrists dismayed by the red markings evident on his skin.
"See, it didn't even take long. Karu had someone go ahead and start preparing a bag for you," Vegar said as he suddenly walked back into the tent. (Y/n) froze and stared at Vegar who did the exact same.
"What? I didn't even leave the tent," (y/n) said in his defense.
"You don't like following rules do you," Vegar deadpanned.
"It depends on the rule," (y/n) said with a shrug.
"You say that but I don't believe you," Vegar muttered as he tossed the bag to him.
"You don't really know me. There you go assuming things again," (y/n) spoke as he caught the bag and immediately checked out its contents.
"Already looking in the bag?" Vegar said before walking out of the tent.
"Just making sure I've got the basics in here just in case you ditch me in some random place in the desert. Not that I'd let you get away with something like that." (Y/n) followed after Vegar without even having to look up from his bag.
"Oh look. There's those things you had in your other bag. What are they called again," Zhu said.
"Wheat grains, but they shouldn't be so far out in the desert," (y/n) accidentally muttered out loud.
"They were traded to us from Sander. All kinds of goods are taken through and traded in that city," Vegar said. (Y/n) looked up in surprise not realizing that he'd spoken aloud. "What? Did you think I wouldn't hear your mumbling? I'm a trained assassin you know," Vegar boasted and smirked afterwards.
"Show off. I bet you didn't hear that now did you," (y/n) made sure to think instead of say.
"His intuition creeps me out. I wish you wouldn't think such things. He might figure you out," Zhu said. (Y/n) ignored him though and kept following after Vegar noticing that they were already exiting the village. He hadn't even seen the stares he got from the locals, but maybe that was a good thing.
"We've got a somewhat long journey ahead of us. If we head there at our current pace, we'll make it to Sander around this time tomorrow," Vegar said.
"That's too much wasted time. There's not enough water in this bag to last both of us that long," (y/n) noticed.
"Smart. You're absolutely right. You know what that means don't you?" Vegar stated.
"Of course I do. I'm not an idiot but you're going to have to keep up if you're going to lead me there," (y/n) said, his eyes glinting with mischief.
"You're bold to assume you can match my running speed," Vegar said with just as much mischief.
"You're bold to assume I'm the one who'll be running. Isn't that right Zhu," (y/n) said.
Vegar narrowed his eyes at him. "You wouldn't," he said.
"Why don't we go ahead and tell all of Sander that you share a soul with a sacred fox!" Zhu hissed.
"Chill out. I'll take things over once we get within a certain distance of wherever this Sander place is," (y/n) said. Zhu sighed and just like that, he was present in his physical form as if he'd been there all along. Perhaps things were taking a turn for the better.
