Chapter 4
I'm curious as to what happens now that a new factor has been added to the story...oh wait, bad luck isn't a new factor...

"Hey, can you hear me?" a voice said from nearby.
"Leave him alone Star. He's going to need some time to recover," a somewhat familiar voice scolded.
"But look at him, Vegar. He's waking up," the one that supposedly was Star argued. (Y/n) opened his eyes to find himself staring a little kid in the face. He was too tired to care and his mind was too foggy to make conclusions.
"Where am I, Zhu? Please don't tell me they're hostile and going to torture me to near death. I hate this," (y/n) thought, realizing that his arms were tied behind his back.
"Move, Star. I'm sure he doesn't want you staring him down," the one (y/n) assumed was Vegar said.
"Okay, okay. I'm moving," Star spoke as he backed away from (y/n) with a pout bringing Vegar into view. (Y/n) was able to then realize that he was in a sort of tent. He sat on his knees on sand near a number of crates, containers, and bags.
"You look like you've been through a lot. Sorry about the ropes. I can't free you until our cheif deems you safe. If you were a threat, he'd have killed you the moment we brought you in, but he still doesn't seem to trust you," Vegar said. (Y/n) only stared at him, not willing to speak until he heard from Zhu who was oddly silent. "I sensed what Karu sensed when you first arrived. You're different aren't you. There's something off about you," Vegar said, crossing his arms. His blue eyes pierced into (y/n)'s weary ones.
Vegar sighed and closed his eyes for a bit. "Not speaking I see. I haven't sensed that presence since last night. I suppose you either aren't aware of it or it's a force that you're working with. Either way, I won't tell Karu. He'll have to find out on his own. I can tell that you have the makings of a warrior so if things go well, I'll let you join my ranks. You don't seem like you've got anywhere else to go," Vegar said with a tilt of his head.
"He's probably just dying of hunger. Can't you tell, Vegar?" the boy, Star, said.
"Quiet Star. If he wants something, he'll have to use his words. We don't help those who don't ask for it," Vegar said, giving the boy a reprimanding look. Star just rolled his eyes at Vegar but stayed silent.
"Sorry not to have answered you earlier but there's a potential disterbance headed your way. You were tracked despite my efforts to escape any of the predators that may have been following you," Zhu said.
(Y/n) closed his eyes and let himself fall forward into the sand. "You've got to be kiding me. Zhu if they see you, we're both dead," (y/n) thought.
"So the presence works with you then. It returned, so you're definitely aware of it," Vegar commented. (Y/n) ignored him and focused on what he considered more urgent matters.
"How far and how many?" he asked Zhu.
"Two of them. About a minute away from making an appearance in the village," Zhu replied.
"I need to get out of these ropes. Can you help me out with that?" (y/n) asked.
"Nope. They're going to see me if I do. Plus, I doubt you'd be comfortable with nine tails and sharpened nails for claws. Not to mentioned the ears," Zhu said.
"You didn't tell me about that," (y/n) thought in annoyance.
"You said you didn't want to hear anything worse that eating souls so I didn't risk it," Zhu muttered almost mockingly. A sudden scream could be heard in the distance catching everyone's attention.
"Make sure he doesn't escape," Vegar quickly said to Star before swiftly exiting the tent. Star looked at (y/n) right afterwards with a bit of fear.
"Utilize the kid. He's your way out of here," Zhu intructed. (Y/n) almost replied aloud but thought better of it realizing that Star was no fool and would tell Vegar the moment he got the chance.
"I'm not letting you go so don't ask me!" Star yelped as soon as (y/n) looked at him. A menacing roar could be heard much closer than the scream from earlier.
"Please don't be another tiger. I swear I'm going to hurt someone if it's another tiger," (y/n) thought.
"Smells like tigers. There are two," Zhu said causing (y/n) to inwardly curse. Not long afterwards, a tiger with same color scheme as the one Zhu killed came crashing through the tent causing Star to yelp in surprise. What surprised (y/n) was that the boy pulled out a small knife from who knows where. Even so, the weapon wouldn't help. The tiger's attention was caught by the boy now though.
"Crap!" (y/n) muttered aloud. Star looked at (y/n) for a second but that was all it took for the tiger to make its move, jumping at the boy and instantly pinning him to the ground.
"Zhu, forget them seeing you or figuring me out. Lend me that power now. I'm not letting this kid die because of me," (y/n) thought in his moment of panic as Star stabbed at the tigers paw only angering it more. Another growl could be heard from outside of the tent. Zhu didn't hesitate to grant (y/n)'s request and the power of the millennium fox resonated throughout him.
His senses sharpened and he easily broke free of the ropes, but he was still starved. The odd thing about it was that he didn't crave food. Instead, he craved the aura that he could suddenly see around the tiger and Star. Star's aura seemed far more appealing than the tiger's, but (y/n) kept his priorities straight and sprang at the tiger, sinking his canine fangs into its hide.
The tiger cried out but couldn't react for (y/n) had sunk his new claws into the beast's neck and stolen its soul just that quickly. When the tiger fell limp, he jumped off of it, landing in perfection and looking to Star. The boy seemed frightened by (y/n)'s appearance but was otherwise fine so (y/n) moved on. He exited the tent too quickly for his regular senses to have been able to register his movement, but with his heightened senses, he was able to exprerience things to their fullest.
In just five seconds, he spotted Vegar, the second tiger, and several other villagers. The tiger growled at him. Out of pure instinct, he growled back which really only made the tiger angrier, but it wasn't like (y/n) cared. The aura around the tiger was beginning to draw him in and he couldn't ignore the strong urge he had to steal it.
The tiger acted first, launching at (y/n), but he dodged and struck the tiger in its side with his palm causing a slight recoil. He had nothing to worry about since the tiger was greatly wounded by the blow. It cried out in pain and took a few steps back from (y/n) before snarling. Of course, (y/n) snarled back but this time he did not let the large pradator get the first move. Again he found himself bitting the tiger, this time on the neck as he sank his claws into the tiger's hide. The tiger fell limp soon afterwards and (y/n) jumped away from it, landing perfectly once again.
He could still see the auras of those around him and they seemed to draw his attention just as Star did, but he managed to keep his priorities straight once more. No stealing human souls. He was quite shocked when he suddenly found several weapons pointed at him as the warriors of the village surrounded him. "You can't be serious," (y/n) thought with a growl.
"Hey, stand down. He's not an enemy!" Vegar demanded, stepping into the circle of weapons to defend (y/n). As instructed, the warriors lowered their weapons and (y/n) felt Zhu's power leave him, turning him back to normal. Once he was truly back to himself without Zhu's instincts, he realized exactly what he'd done and immediately started spitting out tiger fur.
"I thought I said no soul eating! I was perfectly clear when I said that, Zhu!" (y/n) thought as he did his best to get rid of the terrible taste of fur.
"Sorry...but hey, you didn't eat any souls, you just absorbed them. I bet you aren't even tired anymore," Zhu replied. It was true. (Y/n) had no desire to do anything that required energy restoration...well expect for eating. He could go for a bowl of ramen or two, but it didn't seem like this village had any ramen.
"Are you okay?" Vegar asked him, extending a hand to help him up. (Y/n) didn't exactly know this person, yet he seemed trustworthy enough so he took the help offered to him. Vegar suddenly took on a dark persona and glared at him though. "What exactly are you?" he asked.
