Chapter 32
Maybe another chapter after this one. I think this is second to last. We'll see...

Despite all that had happened, he'd never had such a peaceful sleep since the day his village was destroyed. As (y/n) woke up, he immediately recognized his surroundings and his senses helped him locate anyone nearby. He was in the tent along but just outside he could sense Vegar and Star who sounded like they were speaking to Ara and Elsword. Not too far away, (y/n) could hear the other members of the team as well as other citizens of the Caluso tribal village.
The second thing (y/n) noticed was that Zhu was gone. Despite the betrayal the fox had admitted to, (y/n) couldn't help but feel like something was missing without the fox around. (Y/n) actually never wanted to see Zhu again but found his absence a little irritating. "He sure does sleep a lot, that's for sure," Vegar could be heard saying. (Y/n) had focused on his conversation with Elsword and Ara just as he spoke those words.
"No I don't. I hardly ever get sleep and you know that," (y/n) growled knowing that Vegar had no idea he'd been heard. The tent was thrown open and Vegar, Star, and Ara peeked inside to see that (y/n) was awake. Elsword sort of just cluelessly stood there as if still searching for the source of the voice he'd heard. "Finally woke up huh? Vegar was sharing all of your secrets. He told them everything!" Star said.
"I did not!" Vegar immediately protested. Ara laughed at the pair as they had a miniature arguement. "Glad to see you're awake. You feeling okay?" Elsword spoke as he entered the tent as well, no longer seeming lost. "Define okay. Sure I'm not tired or anything but what excatly happened while I was out. We're not in Sander and I still have no idea what to do from here on out now that my life has become a mess again," (y/n) answered.
Was he being a bit insensitive to Elsword's intentions? Not really. He had the right to rant...didn't he? "I'll explain that later but right now all that matters is that you're awake. We decided to wait until you woke up before leaving for Lanox," Elsword said. Lanox? Wait, they waited for him before they left? "You can't be seriously thinking about adding me to your team, right?" (y/n) said.
"Why not. You don't do anything else productive," Vegar joked. "Shut up," (y/n) snapped. "That is a good question though. Why don't you want to come with us. You said yourself that you don't know what to do from here. You even admitted to opening up to us and now your shutting us out," Ara said with a hint of curiosity in her tone. (Y/n) had indeed said those things but he was having second thoughts now.
"That's not it. I'm not shutting any of you out. I just assumed you wouldn't want someone's bad luck affecting your team. It's obvious that I'm cursed. Why else did all of this happen to me and my family and village and...whatever, don't worry about it. I'm not going. No one else is being put in danger because of me," (y/n) said as he avoided any sort of eye contact.
"You can't just blame yourself for everything. I heard about what Zhu did to you. That isn't your fault. I think you should go with then regardless of what will happen," Vegar said. "And you better come back and visit us sometimes too! We were here before they were so don't you forget us!" Star said although it was clear that he didn't want to see (y/n) go. Either way, Star knew that (y/n) wasn't staying around for very long.
"We should give him some time to think. You just woke up and you don't even know everything that happened yet so you probably need your space. We'll come back and check on you once we talk things over with chieftain Karu," Elsword spoke. He'd easily switched from seemingly naive to wise leader in a matter of seconds, a detail (y/n) noriced about Elsword. "Some space would be much appreciated," (y/n) said with a nod.
The four of them left the tent without a word to which (y/n) was grateful. What he didn't expect was the overwhelming sadness that followed. He had a pretty good idea as to why they were not in Sander and he also knew why things needed to be talked over with cheiftan Karu. Vapor didn't want to face him after what she deemed was her own betrayal. Zhu was free to do whatever he pleased and would lukely search for a new host which greatly bothered (y/n).
He himself was bound by a stupid thing called fate and its sole purpose was to ruin his life. What could he possibly do to turn things around? Everything had gone downhill the very moment things seemed like they'd get better and it fustrated him. "I want to tell you something important so don't even think about telling me to leave. Everyone else told you their truths so now I have to tell you mine," Ara said.
She'd suddenly walked back into the tent but it wasn't like (y/n) didn't sense her beforehand. "No offense Ara, but I can't handle anymore betrayals right now. Could you maybe wait until later," (y/n) said with a sigh. "You're so stressed that you automatically assumed I would betray you. That's a problem. Do you expect soneone to betray you every time they tell you they're about to tell you the truth?" Ara said getting distracted from her original purpose.
"So far, that's all everyone has done," he muttered. (Y/n) didn't mind Ara speaking to him since she seemed to be the only person that was able to initially get past his repelling facade of sorts. "Forget it. Just listen. I'm not betraying you. I even left Eun with Elsword, see," Ara said showing him that her hairpin was missing. Her hair was undoing itself and falling to her shoulders but she didn't seem to care. "Well, what do you have to say?" (y/n) asked.
"I remember you from the village not because you look like your brother but because we've met before. I doubt you'd remember since I never gave you my name but I've always wanted to meet you again. When I saw you in Sander, I wasn't so sure but then you demonstrated your skills just like the last time I saw you back in Isshin. I don't want you to leave and go off somewhere on your own," Ara quickly said.
(Y/n) blinked at her. "I'm sorry, what? You say we've met before but I'm sure I'd member meeting someone with a millennium fox as a companion," (y/n) said. Ara sighed and averted his gaze. "Maybe I should rephrase that. I ran into you by accident and I may have sort of watched you train once, but other than that time at the competition, I didn't see you anymore. I know it sounds crazy but that's what happened. Oh, and I didn't meet Eun until after the village was destroyed," Ara ranted although she seemed rather flustered the entire time she spoke.
"You're right, that dies sound a bit crazy," (y/n) muttered. He didn't get why Ara thought now was a good time to tell him that but it wasn't a betrayal so he didn't mind. "Just tell him that you like hin already. I swear, girls are so weird!" Star said as he walked into the tent completely startling Ara. "H-how ling were you s-standing there?!" she yelped in surprise likely not sensing the child's presence.
"Long enough. I'm rather stealthy you know. I bet you didn't even know I was there did you, (y/n)!" Star bragged. Of course, (y/n) lnew all along but for Star's sake, he didn't answer. "If what you said was correct then I'm assuming you just ruined Ara's plan," (y/n) realized as he spoke to Star. The boy flinched and looked at Ara who was holding her head down in embarrassment.
"Oh....I guess I did, didn't I. Well...I'm going to go now," Star awkwardly said as he stepped out of the tent. When he was gone (y/n) directed his attention to Ara who was still keeping her face hidden behind her hair and lower head. "If that's what you wanted to tell me then you could have just said so. I sort of already figured that out," (y/n) said with a slight smirk. "Seriously?!" Ara said looking up at him in astonishment.
"Well it wasn't too hard to figure out although I do apologize for not remembering that one time I ran into you," (y/n) teased. "Stop that! I only brought that up because...well it doesn't matter. Are you staying with the El Search Party or not?" Ara blurted with a pout. (Y/n) laughed at her actions but he didn't give her a definate answer. "We'll see, Ara. I have to think about it," he admitted. He was caught kff guard when Ara suddenly hugged him.
"But you'll have to promise not to isolate yourself if you decide not to go with us okay," she said. He didn't know what to say since he hadn't made up his mind yet. "Sure," he muttered as he ruffled Ara's hair. Something about her was rather calming and it might have just been him but he could have sworn he heard Eun's laugh despite the hairpin being missing from the scene.
