CHAPTER 1

Hurricane ran through the hallways, making sure not to crash into any of her fellow students. Her blue glowing stripes flashed excitedly as she peaked into some of the rooms with her emerald eyes, each room already filling up with dragonets.
No, no, no! No spoilers!!!, she thought, quickly turning her head to look strait in front of her. I don't want any spoilers!!! I need everything to be exciting, and new, and AWSOME!!!
The Seawing dragonet was so excited, she felt like if she tried flying through these hallways right now, she would smash right through the ceiling, and out into the open air above.
Three moons that would look weird!!! I wonder if I would come out in between the two peeks. I've heard that at the right angle, Jade Mountain looks like a snake about to strike. Oh, that means it would look like the mountain would be vomiting me out!!! GROSS!!!
She finally stopped, still lightly tapping every claw on the floor in excitement, in front of a female Nightwing, he was passing out scrolls at an entrance cave.
"Oh hello, are you Fatespeaker?", she asked, grinning.
"Yep, that's me. But remember, mind reading is my job," she said sarcastically, grinning back. "Okay let's see. We've already had most of the Seawings come in.... So that leaves.......... Mallard, and Hurricane." She paused. "Hmmm.... You don't seem like a Mallard... So, Hurricane?"
"Yes!", Hurricane said, laughing a little. "I do know Mallard though. If you see him, could you tell him Hurricane said hi?"
Fatespeaker nodded. "Sure thing. Here's your scroll, and you'll find your room down in the left hallway, in the seventh cave to the left."
"Thanks!", she said, almost skipping down the hallways.
This is so cool!!!, she thought, looking at all of the colorful lamps on the ceiling, the vibrant flowers on the walls, and at all of the many, many dragons in the hallways. She had never seen so many colors before in her life, ever! There were so many Mudwings, Sandwings, Skywings, Seawings, Rainwings, Icewings, Nightwings, and even a few hybrids here and there. And Hurricane would get to be friends with all of them!!!
She knew that if she was a Rainwing instead of a Seawing, she would be vibrant shades of yellow and pink, and right now, nothing would change that. Nothing!
Running down the hall, she skidded to a halt at the room she was assigned to, and her grin grew even bigger, if that was even possible.
Some of my future friends are in there! And in the other room are some of the others!! And in the rooms next to those are more!!! And next to those!!!! And those!!!!! And AHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
She was so occupied with thinking, that she didn't notice a dragonet with ebony black scales sneak up on her, until she lightly tapped her shoulder.
Hurricane turned around, and looked down at a dragon a little smaller than even she was. "Uh, hi! My name is Hurricane. Are you one of the dragons in my Winglet?!?!"
The Nightwing dragonet grinded her teeth a little. "Uh-uh, um, y-y-ye-yes. C-c-could you please th-think, a l-little quieter?"
Noticing the dragonets silver tear drop scales, Hurricane gasped, and suddenly tried to keep her mind as blank as she could, but of course failed miserably.
"I'm so sorry! I didn't realize that you were a mind reader!!! Wait.... CAN YOU SEE THE FUTUR-!!!!!!!!!!"
The dragonet rapped her claws around Hurricane's snout, until her mumbling stopped. Finally, she let go when her apparent headache stopped. "Sorry, I just needed to wait till your brain quieted down. Yes, I am in your winglet," she said quietly. "My name is Midnight. I can't see the future, but I can read minds extremely well." She scrunched her face a little as a pair of dragons walked by, yelling and laughing loudly.
Aw, now I feel bad! I bet she gets a lot of migraines, and I've heard those are super painful, and-
"It's okay, it's okay," Midnight said, trying to get Hurricane's attention. "It hurts more when you're upset or way, way, way to excited. And don't worry, my sister Moonrise is helping me to control it. She's a really good teacher!", she said enthusiastically, with a squeak, which sounded like the closest to a yell as she could get.
"Oh cool!", Hurricane said, making sure she wasn't "too enthusiastic". "So, how old are you? I'm nine!"
"Six," the dragonet said. "Hey, want to check out the room? I've heard it already comes with some scrolls that we can read! I really, really, really want to see if they have the next scroll in a series I'm reading!"
"You go ahead," Hurricane said, waving as she stepped forward. "I'm not a big reader. I'll be in the music room if you want to talk!"
"Bye!", the dragonet said, giving a little wave.
The Nightwing scrunched her face again when Hurricane yelled, "BYYYE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"
Midnight's cool, Hurricane thought, making sure she went the right way, still holding the welcome scroll in her claws. I wonder if she could do my math and reading homework.
She was so distracted, once again, that she crashed right into another dragon.

###

SF yelped in surprise as the dragonet crashed right into him, causing both of them to trip and hit the stone floor with a crash, a mess of blue and light yellow scales.
I need to help this clumsy Seawing dragonet up, and make sure all of my school supplies are still intact!, he thought, noticing that his leather bag, the strap still over his right arm, was lying underneath the dragonet.
"I'm very sorry!", he said, quickly helping her up and checking her for injuries, and then nodding when he saw she was fine. Then, he looked inside his bag, to see what damage there was. He gave a sigh of relief when he saw that only one scroll was damaged, and that it was only a small dent.
"No, no, no, that was my fault," the Seawing said, picking up what appeared to be a welcome scroll. "I was so caught up with thinking about this awsome school that I didn't see you there, carrying a bunch of scrolls and stuff. I'm sorry too!", she said, looking a little crestfallen.
"Okay, okay, there were no bones, muscles, nerves, claws, teeth, horns, eyes, tails, arms, legs, or other organs harmed were there?", he asked.
"Ummm... No?"
"It's okay then he said," hoping that had made her happier.
She grinned. "That was kind of funny though. You kind of seemed to freak out a little. My name's Hurricane. What's yours?"
"SF. It's more like a set of initials, or an acronym even, but I'm fine with it."
"Nice to meet you SF," the Seawing said, putting out her hand.
SF starred at a few moments. Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm....
"You're supposed to shake the hand SF."
"I know," he said. "I'm sorry if it seems rude, but I'm more of a fan of fist pumps if that's okay with you."
"A fist what?
"Okay, so you make your hand into a fist... And then we bump knuckles... And this is only optional, but you can open your hand right afterwards, and make a pksh noise, to imitate an explosion. And that's how you do a fist pump."
Hurricane scrunched up her face. "You're a little weird." She quickly gasped. "Oh wait! That was mean!!! Sorry!!!!"
SF shrugged. "Don't worry, I hear it all the time. Besides, everyone has a weird side. My weird side is just a bit bigger than most, that's all."
"Oh... Okay. So, what winglet are you in?"
"I'm am currently in the Copper winglet."
"FIST PUMP!", she yelled, startling some of the nearby dragons.
"What was that for?," he asked, smiling only a little.
The Seawing dragonet grinned from ear to ear. "I've already found two people that go to the same winglet as me, which is AWSOME!!!"
They both walked down the hall for a minute, and SF listened into some of the conversations, hearing things about being nervous for school, fear about the war beyond the mountains, and how someone was having a huge stomach ache after deciding to eat a whole raw cow in one gulp, which SF thought sounded extremely unhealthy.
Excellent. It sounds like a lot of these dragons do talk about different things. Maybe I could talk about some of my theories and ideas sometime, the Sandwing thought.
"Hey SF, how old are you? I'M NINE!!!"
"At the time I am fourteen and a half."
"Oh cool. How did you get here? Everyone else has these stories about action and danger, and all I get to say is that we flew for a really, really, REALLY long time."
SF thought back, and shivered. "Well, um, I lived with my mother, father, and two siblings, in a town called possibility. We originally lived in Thorns castle, but we moved. Then, all this stuff happened, and we came here. My uh siblings are both students too."
"AWWW, no awsome story?!?!", Hurricane cried, frowning a little.
SF chuckled. "Sorry, no. I'm sure you can survive."
"NO I CAN'T!!! YOU'RE STARVING ME OF AN AWSOME STORY, AND I KNOW IT!!!!!!!!!!!!"
"Just go to the library sometime, they have tons of stories!", he called, striding down the hall, the torches and lamps illuminating everything.
I like how they did everything here. I makes everything look like you're outside, even when you're obviously indoors. It's very nice.
After a few minutes of walking, and getting lost, the Sandwing finally found the library, which to his relief, only had three other dragons in it. Two were Nightwings, one being the legendary Starlight, who was the librarian, and the other a female dragonet, probably only a year younger or older than he was, who was searching through the sections of books. The third dragon was a large Icewing curled up in the corner, who was glaring at a small scroll.
He walked over to the desk Starflight was at, noting the leaf windows. Not wanting to surprise the blind dragon, he nocked lightly to get his attention.
"Who is it?", Starflight asked, turning towards the Sandwing. SF thought of how weird it was, to live in such a dark world. But to Starflight, after being like this for so many years, he knew that this was the only way the Nightwing could live now.
"SF, the Sandwing. I just came over to see what scrolls you have. This might just be my favourite library now."
Th Nightwing smiled a little. "Thanks. It's taken us a while to collect all of these, but it was worth it."
"Definitely," SF said, nodding.
The Sandwing walked through the different sections, until finally, he found what he was looking for: A Dragons Guide to the Possible Past and Future Evolution of Dragons.
He carefully pulled the scroll, and sitting down in a sunlit corner, he read, taking in every word with interest.
He was a little dismayed though, when the female Nightwing walked up to him, interrupting his thinking. "Super sorry to interrupt, I can tell you're a big reader," she whispered. "But I don't want to waste Starflight's time, and I need to know where the history before the scorching is."
"Follow me, I think I saw it earlier," he said. "Are you big into reading?"
"Definitely. My name's Moonrise."
"I'm SF," he said, pulling out the scroll and handing it to her. "Hope you like the scroll. But you do realize it's Starflight's job as the Librarian to help you in the Library right?"
The Nightwing shrugged, chuckling. "Oops?"

A.N.

Yes, that's the same SF from Pyrrhia Rim, minus the Kaiju and stuff. Hope you liked the chapter. BYE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
