Batman didn't waste a minute when he reached the shore again. He silently thanked Arthur for saving him, let him leave with a nod, and opened his commlink in order to communicate with the Watchtower.

"Batman, I see you are still alive," came the blank greeting from J'ohn, which indicated a bit of relief.

"I've been through worse," Batman responded coldly. "Can you give me Wonder Woman's and Hawkgirl's current location?"

"Yes, of course."

As soon as he heard the coordinates that J'ohn gave them, he was already to the Batmobile.

He arrived at the missile landing site ten minutes later. He wasn't surprised to find aliens around the two superheroines. He was stunned though to see that they were Thanagarians. He chose not to show it.

He got out of the Batmobile and approached Diana. As he had expected, she turned to him almost immediately, having sensed his presence.

A smile appeared on her face and made it even brighter than it already was, when she saw him.

"Bruce. I'm glad you're alright."

It took much of his willpower not to smile back at her.

"Glad you're alright too," he replied curtly, keeping his usual frown.

Then, he turned his face to the still smoking missile and his eyes narrowed when he noticed the winged Thanagarians.

"How many were inside?"

Diana seemed very startled to hear his immediate deduction. She expected him to be at least surprised by the sudden return of their old enemies that now seeked sanctuary."

"There were dozens," she answered him. "But how did you know?"

If it were anyone else, he would answer them with silence. But he couldn't help himself in impressing her.

"As I approached for the shot, I noticed a small window. That was when I realized it wasn't a missile, but a spasecraft."

Diana nodded.

Then, Batman got the time to search for other League members around. He found none. Perhaps Hawkgirl had left as soon as she saw him approaching.

"So, what do we do now?"

"Have Superman take them to the Watchtower in their ship,"he explained to her. "If they stay here, based on how they tried to conquer the planet last time, they'll be attacked and possibly killed."

"Indeed," Wonder Woman agreed. "No other alien race that invaded Earth has ever installed a coup. I'm sure that the people will go rogue when they see the winged warriors again."

She fell silent for a moment and then spoke again.

"This could be a prelude to another attack, though. Do you really be aliens they are seeking asylum?"

"I don't know," he replied with skepticism. It was true. He didn't know what to expect from them. Only the future would show them the truth.

"Also, I want you to know that Hawkgirl is pretty shook up. I haven't seen her that upset since she came back to the League and faced our disdain," Diana added.

Bruce didn't reply to her immediately. He weighed the data on his mind and eventually he gave her his answer.

"Bring her along."
