The Storm
Nikki's P.O.V.
The sun peeked though the corner of the curtains, shining onto my eyelids, causing me to wake up. The sun blinded me for a few moments then I lifted myself up from my sleeping position and stretched. I noticed my sisters weren't in the same bed that I was. I wonder where they are? I was about to get out of bed, until I saw Katy and Ash on a separate mattress on the ground.
"Gah! Katy, Ash, what are you guys sleeping there. I could've stepped on you two." I shrieked. At that moment Katy and Ash immediately jumped up in surprise.
"What, what happened?" Ash said.
I let out a deep sigh. "Why are you sleeping on a mattress instead in bed with me?" I said impatiently.
"We wanted you to sleep, anyways I'm hungry." Katy walked out of the room, leaving me and Ash here.
I looked at Ash, then got up. "I'm going to get breakfast too." I carefully stepped around the around the mattresses, making sure I don't trip and fall on my face, then have Ash laughing her head off in the corner. I finally got around the mattresses and headed to the door, and on my way out I closed it, leaving Ash alone in our bedroom.

I calmly walked down the stairs, suddenly I heard a extremely loud noise coming from the kitchen. I quickly ran to the kitchen to see what was going on. As I walk in, I noticed Kyo and Yuki glaring at each other. I looked in front of both of them and I saw shattered glass all over the place. Apparently, Tohru hadn't come downstairs yet, and I haven't seen Katy around either.
"Look what you've done, ya damn rat!" Kyo barked. "Can't a guy like me get something down without your clumsiness around here?!"
"What I've done? I'm sorry, but it was your fault in the first place. You're the one who dropped the bowl you stupid cat." Yuki spat back.
Kyo clenched his fists. "Yeah just blame it all on me. I wouldn't of dropped it if you hadn't bumped into me! Now who's fault is it, idiot." Kyo bellowed in irritation.
They both continued to argue, while I just stood there watching them. I wanted to say something, but to me it'll feel like I'm interrupting them. Kinda.
"Um," I finally managed to say. Kyo and Yuki turned their heads to my direction, then blinked. Kyo blushed uncontrollably, probably in embarrassment, and Yuki hung his head down.
"Sorry Nikki," Kyo apologized.
"Yes we apologize, especially if we caused any trouble to you." Yuki said.
"It's alright, but um do you guys know where Katy and Tohru are?" I asked.
"Over here!" I heard a voice call from a distance. I walked over to the living room and just as I suspected, Katy was sitting on the couch eating a bag a chips.
"One, that's not breakfast. Two, what are you watching?" I asked with an attitude.
Katy hesitated for a moment. "Well I couldn't find anything else, so this bag of potato chips seemed like it would be a great snack until some idiot cooks me food. And I'm watching last nights episode of Scream Queens." Katy explained. I rolled my eyes then went back to the kitchen. As I walked in, I saw Kyo and Yuki crouched down on the ground quickly picking up the shattered pieces of glass.
"Ah good morning everyone!" Someone happily beamed. I turned myself around and saw Tohru walking towards me. "Good morning Nikki! How'd you sleep."
"I slept well thank you," I answered in a cheerful tone. Tohru walked passed me into the kitchen, then shrieked.
"Oh no, how could I let this happen. If only I woken up more earlier instead of accidentally sleeping in, the bowl wouldn't have been broken! Here let me do this. Its my job to clean and cook, and I wouldn't be able to do that if you two are doing my job. Oh how could I be so careless!" Tohru began running around in circles, freaking out over one little thing.
"Miss. Honda, please calm down," Yuki gently placed his hand on Tohru's shoulder. "It was my fault in the first place. I should of watched where I was going, but instead I carelessly bumped into that stupid cat, causing the bowl to smash onto the ground. I'm sorry." Yuki once again apologized.
"Oh okay, but that doesn't stop me from cleaning this up." In a flash, Tohru was now holding a broom in one hand and the other a dust pan. I was amazed how she quickly swept up the broken glass. But I wasn't the only one who was amazed, it seemed Yuki and Kyo were too, just by looking at there facial expressions. "There, all done!" Yuki, Kyo, and I stood there in complete shock. The whole area had been cleaned in less than 5 minutes! "Well I'm gonna get started on breakfast!" Tohru cheered.

Third person's P.O.V.
Once Tohru called everyone down for breakfast, they began to eat. The table was quiet, no one spoke, only the sound of everyone chewing their food. The second Nikki finished her breakfast she walked over to the kitchen sink, placed her plate in the sink, then walked back upstairs to her room.
"Why did Nikki just leave all of a sudden?" Katy questioned.
Ash shrugged her shoulders in response. She didn't want to reply in words, but she thought it would be rude to talk with her mouth full. Katy looked down at her meal, then picked up her chopsticks and grabbed a few grains of rice with it, then put it in her mouth. "Okay, but I think someone should go check on her. To see if she's alright." Katy responded a few seconds later.
"I'll go." Kyo volunteered, then got up from his crossed legged position, heading to Nikki's room. At that second a tremendously loud sound came from outside that sounded like thunder. Kyo stopped in his tracks then looked outside. Rain began pelting down, hitting everything from the ground to the high trees, even some parts of the front porch. Kyo quickly walked upstairs to check on Nikki.
"Aw come on!" Katy groaned. "They said that it'll be sunny all day! This is the complete opposite of sunshine!"
"Well nobody's perfect and people can't always predict the weather," Ash informed Katy. "You just gotta accept the fact that stuff like this happens." After that everyone continued eating their food.

Kyo walked into Nikki's room, but couldn't find her anywhere. He searched all the places she could be, but no luck. Another loud crash of thunder roared from the sky. Kyo flinched at the sound. He'd never heard of a crash of thunder that loud before.
At that moment Kyo heard a small shriek coming from Nikki's room. Kyo scurried to Nikki's room and forcefully slid open the door. He couldn't find Nikki anywhere until he saw something moving under the bed covers. He slowly pulled the bed covers off and saw Nikki hold a pillow over her head, curled up in a ball.
"Nikki, are you alright?" Kyo asked in a worried-some voice.
"I'm-." Nikki began, but was interrupted by another bang of thunder. Nikki's cat ears perked up, then she let out another shriek. She quickly turned around and hugged Kyo in fear. "I'm a-afraid o-of t-thunder."
Kyo held Nikki tightly. He never knew much about her fears, but he now knew this was one of them. At that moment Kyo began to grow tired, due to the fact he was a cat and whenever it rained, little or a lot, he would begin to get worn out. Nikki got out of Kyo's grasp, looked outside. The rain continued to fall heavily. Kyo, on the other hand, was also staring out the window, but mostly daydreaming, not wanting to focus on reality. Nikki glanced over at Kyo. He seemed to be deep in thought, but she wonder is he was also alright.
"Kyo," Nikki spoke. "Um you seem to be thinking about something, are you alright?"
Kyo turned his head over to Nikki. "Yeah, I'm fine."
Nikki looked down at the bed sheets she was sitting on. Even though she doesn't like to say she hates things, she despises only two words that make her have a strange feeling inside of her. I'm fine. "You know, I don't like those two words together," confessed Nikki.
Again, Kyo turned his head over to Nikki, surprised at what she said. He felt like Nikki could see right through him. Knowing that all of the years he'd always would reply, I'm fine, to anyone who was concerned about him. But he thought people were just trying to brighten up his mood, but he wasn't that foolish. Apparently Nikki was different, in a good way. She loved him like no other. But like he thought about last night, would she really accept him for who he really is? Could there relationship between each other fall apart after she finds out? He shook his head, immediately forgetting that thought.
"I don't like them because people say they are, but truly they aren't. To me, they feel depressed about something that happened to them in the past or current time," Nikki looked up at KYO, who still had a surprised expression on his face. "Are you actually alright?"
Kyo hesitated for a moment, wondering what to say. He didn't want to give her too much information about him or else Nikki would be the one who will be depressed, due to her caring nature. "Yeah I am, it's just the rain wears me out sometimes and I kinda daydream. But it's nothing to worry about." KYO smiled at Nikki. Hopefully she will believe his response.
"Oh okay," Nikki looked out the window, thinking about her and her adopted mother on rainy days. She would always hug her for comfort, while Katy and Ash would have fun in the rain. Nikki began to remember all the joyful memories they had together before she died. Or should I say, murdered.
Another raging crash of thunder struck. Nikki was more frightened than before. Knowing that no one was there to protect her, except....Kyo. Surely she could at least sit next to him during this frightful storm. She leaned closer to him, then put her head on his chest.
"You really are afraid of thunder." Kyo said. Nikki looked up and nodded.
"One thing in life is that I don't lie. Never to anyone shall I lie, it's wrong." Nikki answered. Kyo smiled them pulled Nikki in a hug, then they sat there until the storm was over.
***
It was about 5 'o clock and the storm had finally cleared up, for now. It would eventually return later tonight, but both Nikki and Kyo were glad that it stopped.
"Nikki, Kyo," called Ash. "Do you guys wanna eat something?" Nikki and Kyo exchanged looks.
"Come on. It's better to eat now because once that storm returns that I doubt you'd wanna leave your room." Kyo answered and grabbed Nikki's hand. She nodded in agreement then the twosome walked downstairs.
Ash and Katy stood by the end of the staircase. Ash had her arms crossed, while Katy just sat there staring at them. "So," Ash began. "Why were you two up there for like the past 5 hours or something?"
"Why do you always ask questions?" Kyo argued.
"Kyo, just answer the question, she's pissed off." Katy said glaring at Kyo.
"Fine. Because it's raining and Nikki hates it. So I'm upstairs with her trying to calm her down alright?" Kyo confessed irritatedly.
"That's right, Nikki's afraid of thunder! No wonder we haven't seen her during the storm." Katy replied.
Kyo sighed then followed Nikki to the kitchen, glaring at Katy and Ash one the way. Tohru was in there cleaning the dishes like she always does. She turned around, surprised to see the two cats finally coming down. "Oh hi! Um oh I'm guessing you two are hungry right? I could make you some fish or if you guys wanted anything else, I mean you'd prefer fish because you both—," Tohru was suddenly interrupted by Kyo placing his hand over her mouth.
"Calm down. Just give us some leftovers for earlier today," Kyo said then turned his head to Nikki. "If that's okay with you." Nikki nodded in return.
"Okay I'll heat it up for you two!" Tohru responded then in a blink of an eye, she was already heating up the leftover riceballs.
Nikki and Kyo walked to the Kitotsu (I think that's what their called.) and sat down. Kyo sat down his usual crossed leg style, while Nikki sat in a proper Japanese style.
"Hey Nikki, are you alright? You don't seem to be talking much like you usually do." Kyo asked. Nikki looked over at Kyo with her jaw slightly dropped.
"Oh sorry to make you worried. I don't know, I just have nothing to say even though I do, always." Nikki replied honestly.
"Okay, I just don't want you feeling upset." Nikki smiled at Kyo's answer. At that moment Tohru came in and handed Nikki and Kyo their dinner. "Um after we eat, I want to show you something, if it's okay with you."
Nikki looked up from her riceball, which she stuffed half of it in her mouth. She nodded her head in return.

"So where are you taking me?" Nikki asked.
The two of them were walking through the woods, almost close to sundown. Nikki was eager to know where Kyo has taking her since he said that it was a surprise.
"Nikki like I told you before, it's a surprise." Kyo said calmly then ruffled her hair. Kyo and Nikki continued to walk to the destination that Kyo wanted to show Nikki. "Okay now close you're eyes." Kyo instructed. Nikki closed her eyes and put her hands on her face just to make sure she doesn't peek. Kyo guided Nikki to a small opening in the forest. "Now open."
Nikki did so and looked at the beautiful sight in awe. Multiple colors filled the sky; Orange, pink, yellow, red, to blue. It was now Nikki's favorite time of day, sunset. She sat on the ground, along with Kyo, and they both looked at the glamorous bright colors.
"I knew you'd like it," Kyo said to Nikki, and she smiled in happiness.
"Yes. I love watching the sunset, but this time I'm with you." Nikki answered. Kyo pulled Nikki into a hug, then they continued to watch the sun, even though the rain will soon reappear.
***
Slowly the sun was setting and Nikki was gazing at the amazing sight, not wanting to miss a single second. Kyo, on the other hand, was also watching it, though he was constantly looking over at Nikki's facial expressions during the sunset. Out of nowhere Kyo heard a twig snap from a distance. Could someone be watching them? Kyo got up, not wanting to distract Nikki, then he followed the sound. It could have been a small animal like a rabbit or a squirrel stepping on the twig, but he wanted to make sure that they were not being watched or else that person will be sorry.
Kyo looked everywhere, continuously checking behind trees and bushes, making sure they weren't being watched. Then Kyo had the feeling that it was actually an animal so he just gave up. He was about to turn around and leave until suddenly he heard another twig or two snap, but this time he sensed it more closer towards him. Kyo quickly turned around. Again, no one was there. Could he just be hearing things? Maybe he's being to protective of Nikki? Once again Kyo turned around and headed back to Nikki and get her to come home before it began to rain.
Kyo was now walking back, though he was stepping on some branches making him to continuously have the feeling of being watched. Kyo stopped in his tracks. He was now hearing footsteps coming closer and closer to him. He knew it all along that he was being watched, but by who? He kept his guard up, but the footsteps stopped. Now he was hearing things. He turned around almost bumping into a tall, thin man, wearing all black. No, it couldn't be, Kyo thought. Akito.
"Hello Kyo, glad to see you again."
***
Nikki sat there on the cold ground, watching the sunset. Until she felt a small drop of water fall from the sky onto her head. She looked up, and saw dark clouds covering the sky. Well at least she got to see the sunset with Kyo. She turned her head to Kyo, but then she noticed Kyo wasn't beside her anymore. Where could he be? She thought. Nikki got up from her crossed legged position, then began calling Kyo's name.
She walked throughout the forest, but no sight of her beloved boyfriend. The rain continued to fall, but now it was more off a drizzle then tiny drops. She continued walking until she stopped dead in her tracks. She noticed Kyo and Akito. What was he doing here? She looked at Kyo, who looked petrified for some reason.
"Hello Nikki, I was just having a friendly talk with Kyo. Right Kyo." Kyo was as still as a statute, but his eyes were filled with fear. "Anyways Kyo, why don't you tell your girlfriend about yourself? I'm sure she'd be delighted." Akito smirked as he looked over to Nikki then to Kyo.
Kyo was still standing in the same position, but now he was clenching his fists. "Go." He mouthed to Nikki, but she didn't understand want he was trying to say. Nikki was still standing there, but slightly confused. She didn't understand what he was trying to say. Kyo was terrified. He wanting to grab Nikki by the hand or carry her home, away from Akito, away from his fears. He was running out of time. Kyo had to get Nikki out of the scene. "NO!" Kyo shouted then ran off, but it was too late, Akito grabbed a hold of Kyo's hand.
"Running away from your problems, again. How foolish. That will lead you nowhere in life. I'll give you another chance, tell Nikki everything or else."
Kyo heart was pounding out of his chest. No he couldn't tell anything about himself to Nikki. How will she react? Never wanting to be with him again. Finally having someone to love and cherish, but now loosing her because she knew the truth. The truth of The Cats curse.
"Nikki! Go! Please!" Kyo hollowed. Nikki was confused, even more than before. Go, why? She wanted to know what was going on, everything. What was Kyo hiding?
"Very well then. You want to do it the hard way, then I will." Akito held Kyo's wrist tightly, not letting go no matter what.
"Please Nikki go!" Kyo yelled trying all his might to get out of Akitos grip.
"IS THIS WHAT YOU WANT?! YOU FOOLISH CAT, NO ONE NEEDS YOU IN LIFE, NO ONE WILL EVER LOVE YOU!" Akito barked. Kyo continued to get out of Akito's grip. "Very well. Nikki the time has come to show you who Kyo really is!" At that moment, Akito forcefully ripped off Kyo's beads.
