Nikki's P.O.V.

Ahh, good morning sun, good morning flowers, good morning me. I woke up and I was filled with glee. Yes today's my birthday and nothing could go wrong. I walked downstairs happily and hummed a peaceful tune. I walked into the kitchen to find everyone, but sadly they weren't there. I turn my back to walk upstairs to find them. Suddenly, I hear Ash, Katy, and my mom jump up and yell surprise, which startled me and I fell to the ground.

"Haha, every year you guys get me." I said and laughed.

We sat down and began to eat. My mom made pancakes, just for me, with blueberries and strawberries on top of the syrup. I'm so lucky to have her as my mother. After we finished, we got ready to go to school. We were at the door about to leave, until my mother stopped me.

"Nikki, Happy Birthday!" She said happily. She gave me a kiss and a big hug. I appreciated it a lot, then she said she was staying home today. But before I left, she gave me a present. I was anxious to see what was inside, so I ripped it open. Inside was a heart-shaped locket. When I opened the locket, there was a picture of my mom on one side and the other side was a picture of me. I gave her another hug and put the necklace around my neck.

"I love you a lot, and I will always treasure you." She said which brought tears to my eyes.

"I love you too, mom." I replied back.

"Happy Sweet sixteen. When you three come home, we'll celebrate it." My mother said sweetly. I gave her another hug and we left the house, on our way to school.

When we finally arrived, we saw Tohru, Yuki, and Kyo. I was standing in front of them smiling, waiting for them to say something.

"Well..." I said anxiously waiting for them to say happy birthday.

"Well what." Kyo answered confusingly.

"It's my birthday." I replied, trying not to yell.

"Well, Happy Birthday!" Tohru says.

I nodded and we walk to class. Katy and I had to say goodbye to everyone until the end of the day. I don't like being one grade lower than them. At least I've got Katy. She was all happy and jumping up and down saying how much fun we're gonna have when we get home, and she said more wacky stuff, but I ignored her, then I told her to shut up, and she did.

Finally the day was over, and now I can go home and enjoy my birthday. I really wish that my birthparents were here, even if my dad hates me. It wasn't my fault I was born with a curse.

Once we reached our mom's house, I grabbed my key and opened the door. As I walked in the place, I was in shock. The whole house was all messed up. Tables were tilted, curtains were ripped, and there was no sign of my mother anywhere. We walked up into her bedroom to see is she's in there, and ask her why this place is messed up. I knocked on her door. No answer. Ash opened the door and peeked in. Then she screamed. I looked inside and all I could do was stare. I saw my mother on the ground dead. A knife was placed right next to her with blood covering it. Tears began to fill my eyes. I lost my birthparents and now my adopted mother. Katy and Ash began to cry. Ash laid down next to our mom.

"Mom, can you here me. MOM!" She cried. No answer. Our mother was dead, but who killed her?

Did she commit suicide, or a person killed her. I looked around the room and I found the picture that Ash, Katy, my mother, and I took. In blood, then picture was torn in half separating me from Ash, Katy, and my mom. There was also a piece of paper that said "The Kanaji family must pay." That was written in blood, but what did our family do to that murderer. And why has the picture been cut like that and only have myself unharmed. I know I'm not part of this family, but all I could say was why. I couldn't bare it anymore. I ran out of the house and down the city, all the way to the woods. I wanted to be forgotten in my life, I never wanted to be born.

Ash's P.O.V.

I felt so bad for my sister, Nikki. Katy was crying in her room, and Nikki ran out of the house. There was no way for me to catch up to her. Nikki lost her birthparents now our mother. She has no place to go. I grabbed my phone and dialed a number.

"Ring, ring ring"

"Hello."

"Hey Shigure, it's Ash, can I talk to Kyo for a second."

"Okay. Kyo, the phone's for you."

"Hello."

"Kyo, I'll explain later, but Nikki just ran out of the house and she's heading for the woods, is it possible that you can find her?"

"Why'd she run out the house?"

"I told you, I'll explain later. I'll be at the house in a few minutes, just find Nikki."

I hung up the phone, and I walked to Katy's room. Katy lets go, were going to Shigure's house.

"Nooooooo, I want mom back." She screamed like a little girl.

"There's no way, come on." I said and dragged her to Shigure's house.

Nikki's P.O.V.

I hate myself. Why was I born. I ran all the way to the woods without stopping. I ran to the little pond from when I was young. I started to cry even more.

Poof

Great, just great, I've turned into a cat. Well no ones gonna find me.

It's been about 45 minutes that I was here, still crying away. I heard footsteps coming my way, but I didn't want to look at who it was.

"Nikki, is that you." A voice said. It sounded familiar, but I couldn't guess who it was. "Nikki please answer."

I looked up. It was Kyo. I was happy to see him, but I couldn't put a smile on my face.

"Are you okay?" He asked. I didn't want to say anything. He picked up my clothes then me. He walked back to Shigure's house, holding me tightly in his arms.

We finally arrived at the house. Kyo knocked on the door and Katy came to answer.

"Nikki!" She shouted excitedly. Tohru walked up and she looked at me and gave a warm smile.

"Awe, Nikki you make such a cute cat." Tohru said and began to hold me.

I didn't like how my sisters would do that back then, but right now with Tohru I feel more comfortable and I'm not in a good mood to yell at people. I hopped down from Tohru's arms and walked upstairs.

"Why is she so upset?" Tohru asked.

"We'll explain the story right now." Ash and Katy said sadly in unison.

"Kyo, go upstairs and keep Nikki company." Yuki said and glared into his eyes.

"Fine." Kyo said.

I walked into Kyo's bedroom and laid on the bed miserably. I heard the door open and Kyo walked in.

"Can you tell me what's wrong." He said.

"A-all r-right." I replied.

I told him the whole story from when Ash, Katy and I got home to what I was saying to myself when I was running through the woods.

"I'm sorry." He said sadly. "You're parents didn't want you and now you're adopted mother died."

"But, who killed you're mom?" Kyo asked.

"I don't know. Thats a mystery for now, but I won't stop looking for that person, and when I find that guy, he/she will be sorry."

In that second I transformed back and Kyo quickly turned around. I told him to turn around when I was finished getting dressed. I began to cry again. We went back downstairs, into the kitchen. Once I stepped in there Yuki, Tohru, and Shigure came up and gave me a hug. I was confused at first, but then I realized Ash and Katy told them about what happened.

"I'm sorry for what happened to you. If it makes you fell any better, you're not the only one who lost their parents. I happened to have lost my dad when I was young and 2 years ago my mother died." Tohru explained.

"Thanks, but it happens. other people may had more tragic things happen to them then me." I replied while staring at the ground.

"Umm sorry to interrupt, but what are we going to do. The person who killed mom will eventually come for us, right? So what are we going to do?" Katy said with got me thinking that same thing.

"Maybe you guys can stay here. We have a spare room upstairs." Shigure offered.

I turned to Katy and Ash. They nodded, and so did I. We followed Shigure upstairs to a room. Inside was a little dusty, but he said he can clean it up. It was as big as the room I had at home, but I think we can all fit our stuff in here.

"So you girls may have to go home an get your stuff, then come back. If you want I can come with you." Shigure said.

"It's okay, we won't be taking the whole house with us, only the products we need." Ash answered.

The three of us went to the door and told everyone we'll be back in a half hour. They nodded, then we waved as we walked out the door. I lost my birth parents and my adopted mother. I guess now I will have to be called around Yuki, Kyo, and Shigure's family a Sohma. Ash and Katy are the only two people I have left who loved me forever, and I'm going to protect them from the killer.
