[not completely finished]

a few of you may remember that deleted chapter titled "kelp" where i was thoroughly upset and confused about a cat picture.

i decided to retry it on tanned paper. the white highlights are definitely something different and i think i'll use that method again :3

the picture is for my Nana and Papa, whose 6-year-old cat, Rusty, died of stomach cancer a little less than a year ago. he was a very sweet cat who loved his human parents dearly.

since then, they got two kittens (around last October) to keep their elderly cat Katie on her toes. i'm looking forward to seeing them when i go to Maine.

going back to the subject of art, i started the drawing this morning at like 8:30 and have been drawing with breaks only for a snack and to reply to lovely comments ^-^ (i "finished" at around 3:20, although there are some mistakes i just noticed that need to be fixed.)

three different grades of black charcoal and a white charcoal pencil were used, and then it was smoothed with the always helpful cotton swabs.
