The Seawitch's Regret (25)
Weddings of Tearful Goodbyes
The palace is lively.
Music is playing.
And everyone is happy.
Except for me who has a scowl planted on my face and remains the same.
However, among the commission, the sunrise is beautiful as ever.
I sit high up outside at a balcony with Levy next to me and we gaze at the sunrise.
The lights shine all across the kingdom, brightening up the land.
It was basically our last Sunrise together and the next one, she'll be disappearing by my side, but never in my arms.
"After this I don't know what I'm going to do. I don't think I can live after this. I'm letting you know that I.. You always mean so much to me and yet I..." I sighed, "You always meant the world to me, Levy."
She caught my longing gaze with her eyes, 'Don't give up. You can't. I want you to be free and live a life that you can love and start all over where no one knows you. Do what you love and find your passion in life.'
I stared at the words she mouthed but never breathed.
"It's not that simple. Without you I feel lost." I lowered my head, "But for these next 23 hours I am going to have you swap someone's capability to speak with yours. They will return to the person after that time and that way I could hear your voice once more."
I almost forgotten what she sounded like, it's been so long.
A few months.
'What but what if they need-'
I put my hand up, "Levy, let me be selfish for once. I know it may be wrong, but I'll do someone that won't need it so much." I nodded my head, "Someone who never speaks much and is quiet. Someone who is unconscious for a bit. Their capability to speak still work but they currently won't be needing them."
Levy soften her eyes and finally agreed.
"Ly sunki mufa Hashi toba maju nawki BAshew KOYANA VOSEKEW!" I exclaimed and felt two souls' individual ability to speak switch over.
"Oh wow...." She muttered and then she gasped when she spoke.
Her voice...
It was memorizing, just as before. And oh, how I forgotten it.
"Levy, I forgotten how much I missed your voice!" I exclaimed, hugging her.
"Lehz!" She exclaimed back, laughing at the matter.
"Will you say you miraculously got your voice back or will you keep it hidden from others?" I asked her. I was curious.
"I.. I'm not sure," she smiles awkwardly.
"We should head back inside." I tell her after the land was glowing with bright light, "You said you wanted to see this wedding. Things are going to start soon."
Back in the room, Levy got paper just in case she decided to keep pretending.
However Levy's next words brought me confusion, "Don't look, alright,"
I turned my head in wonder, "Wait why what are you...." I widen my eyes in shock, "WHAT ARE YOU DOING TAKING OFF YOUR CLOTHES?!" I turned away immediately and pulled my hair so it was covering my face.
Levy narrowed her eyes, "I said don't look. But noooo you decided hm she said don't look that must mean I definitely should look." She told me in a flat tone, "A... Are... Are you covering your face with your hair cause your red?!" She exclaimed.
"No." I muttered lamely, "I fell."
I heard her giggle, "Yeah I'm sure you did. You always do this when you're embarrassed. At least you're not trying to bury your head in the sand," she grinned.
"Are you done changing your clothes or whatever you were doing. As in you aren't stripping anymore..." I sighed, "You are in clothes right?"
She laughed, "Yeah, I am."
"Next time just tell me that you are going to be c...." I widen my eyes when I turned around, "Abyssal ocean depths..."
She turned her head to the side. It was like she was blushing, even with her skin tone and all. However I could always recognize it. My skin was darker but I also knew her for a long time.
She had a light blue gown. It came loosely over her arms for sleeves and left her shoulders bare. The sashes were wavy and light. She looked like a fairy.
"I'm guessing you like it with that expression you're making that is causing you to blush," Levy annoyingly pointed out.
I put my hand over, covering my mouth with my palm as forefinger laid loosely on my nose.
"THE ABYSSAL, am not!" I exclaimed, feeling my hair become spiked.
"Are you just going to wear that?" She almost frowned with the fact that I possibly decided to keep my clothes the same.
"I mean not necessary. I just don't particularly care." I shrugged, "You're making that face."
"What face?" She asked innocently.
"You know the, I really want you to do something but I won't say but I also really want you to do it because it will make me happy face? You want to choose what I'm going to wear?" I turned to her with a smile. "If you want to you can but be quick, I rather not take forever."
Her eyes gleamed, "Your preference?"
"Uhhh I'm feeling a bit more masculine lately," I grinned sheepishly, "if you couldn't tell. I'll try a tunic or those fancy pants most tend to wear."
"Oh yeah definitely, you were taking the lead more," Levy nodded.
I stared at her puzzled.
What does she mean by 'taking the lead,' it is like we are almost in a relationship.
"Alright I'll shut my eyes and you do what you need to do." I tell her, "Work your magic."
...
Nobody cares that much that we are here, we aren't scorned as much as before.
It's probably because it's the wedding between their king and princess.
But I wonder if I try to do anything murderous, will it have the same reaction.
I locked eyes with Zestrella who was making a sad expression. An unfavorable marriage.
When the bride is against the marriage, is it right?
A man stands before them.
"Do you to be King Lucino take the young Princess Zestrella as your lawfully wedded wife even in the sickness of heath until life and death?"
"Of course," he smiled in a way that I knew was full of tricks and lies. I didn't understand anything.
What does he get by doing and obtaining this?
Zestrella said her vows too, but very much reluctantly.
"If anyone has any objections to this marriage speak now or forever hold your peace,"
No one said a thing.
Her lover locked away or trapped. Dead or alive who knew.
But all I knew was that Zestrella herself was against it.
"Now with this kiss seal your fates together and now introduce everyone to their new King and Queen."
I wanted nothing more to stop it from continuing.
I wanted nothing more to throw a knife and aim it at his heart.
But everything was already too late.
I failed and became a killer.
The audience was cheering and it seems like they were clapping -- everyone except for me and Levy.
I cannot force myself to be happy.
Flowers and hats were thrown as they run back down the aisle.
Lucino had that friendly people pleaser smile printed on his face.
It was time for the reception; it was suppose to last until the morning of tomorrow.
There was food, platters, and drinks. There was music, dancing, and singing.
And everyone was chattering among themselves.
I was on the sidelines of it all, just watching Levy as all the foods fascinated her.
She would occasionally be spoken to, in which she responded with a polite, little smile.
I was leaning against the railing with a single glass in my hand.
My hair was swept up, a silver blue jacket laid loosely over me.
Still, we matched in a way.
Then in the center was Lucino trying to lead Zestrella over the dance floor for like the millionth time tonight.
She looked sick of it.
Some women -- I think anyways, were in the corner sobbing about how they should have been chosen as his bride.
Several people tried to dance with me, which was really surprising, --I declined them all but-- I never thought anyone would after what happened.
They thought I was lonely. But the annoying part was when some of those people tried to misgender me when I thought everyone was aware how "different" I was when Lucino announced that before setting fire to the platform, in which we almost burned.
Some looked sloppy and tripped over themselves, while others tried to touch me in certain ways that made me a bit uncomfortable.
It was some weird kind of flirting, but I didn't want to have to do with any of it.
I was watching things again.
A women in a long, but thin, dark red dress was by the side.
She just stood out to me with her dark short, side-swept locks, piercing stormy eyes, and tan skinned tone.
But above all her expression held sadness and almost anger.
I wanted nothing more than to go over to her...
But why?
I didn't know her and it was none of my business.
But a voice interrupted my thoughts.
"Hi," I looked in front of me and there was Levy with a tiny smile.
"Hey you," I responded back, "Enjoying yourself?"
"It's been fun I guess." She smiled, "Though, all you're doing is standing by watching. Not even interacted or dance with anyone that went by."
"Why are you worrying about me?" I made a face, "I'm fine doing this besides there something about them that just puts me off. They weren't even my type anyways."
"Type you had a type? Unless it's considered older and cool." Levy grinned in amusement, "Well I just thought you may be sad since Laiken's getting married soon..."
"WHAT?!" I exclaimed, "Why would I be sad about that? Do you still honestly think that I..." I pulled the ends of my hair, "Abyssal you're so stupid... I'm so stupid..." I sighed.
"Hey!" She frowned, "What's that supposed to mean?"
I waved my hand, "It doesn't matter. Look I wish a lot of things are different and we were in different circumstances but I only admired your brother for the way he handled things, I didn't ever like him, okay?" I stared intensely at her, "How do I get it through your tiny head?"
"Well then who was it you liked, I'm sure it was someone cause you always had that expression you did."
Can she please stop asking me this?
"What does it matter now? In better circumstances, it would be fine but..."
Levy suddenly looked at me and soften her eyes. She dropped it and instead made a sad expression, "I never will be able to go to Laiken's wedding. I know he wanted me there and I wanted to be there so much. I wish this wedding was his." She looked down.
"I miss him. I miss Lysandria. Father too, you know..." Her voice trailed off, "Even though it felt like he didn't understand me, he was still important to my life. I miss everyone back home."
"I miss them too."
She narrowed her eyes, "Don't lie."
I made an amused expression, "I'm not. I actually miss them. I miss tormenting and messing with them. I wouldn't be an Ardizevepa if I didn't."
Levy laughed, "You are something else," then she remained silent for awhile. It was until I heard Levy mutter, "You are so pretty.." I became a bit confused.
I stared at her, "Huh? Oh you mean today. That's only because you did all of that you know and besides this is an illusion."
"No that's not it." She shook her head.
It's not?
"As an Ardizevepa, you are pretty. I just wanted to let you know."
Oh.
"Well thank you. I.. I hope you enjoyed it. Life you know and everything you've done."
"I have." She looked at me with great emotion, it took me such strength to not cry right there in front of her, "I'll cherish those memories forever.. whatever that means."
I stared at her, "I'm glad. I'm glad that I was a part of it and made it worthwhile for you."
"You know you said you didn't want to talk about it because it is not in good circumstances, but I want to know so I can help you."
She brings up that subject again, "After this I want you to be free and happy, I want you to find someone too. That's why I wanted to know, what is your type."
"I don't see a point in that. Why do you insist on this so much. I'll tell you anyways I suppose but it won't change anything. Appearances doesn't matter I'm sure you figured that out but if I had a type for appearance it would be something like this..." I closed my eyes and imagined everything.
"It starts with bronze white hair. So wavy, yet so wonderful. Red eyes that are like jewels of the sea. Words can't began to describe them. They do things not caring what others will say about them. They ignore all the stereotypes about me and find out the truth themselves. And they must reached out their hand and say come with me."
I remember every memory, every time we were together; it was all pure bliss.
"And during each moment there are no regrets for staying with me. They stick to what is right and wrong and never judge without a person giving them a reason to do so, and instead tries to know them for who they really are. They who loves exploring and doing small little things, but those things aren't little because they are with the individuals they care about," I sighed after saying all of this.
I looked and saw Levy her eyebrows twisted in a way that was confused.
"...Wait you just described m....a real person you know." She pointed to myself.
I smiled to myself, "Maybe I did." I looked away and felt myself crying.
I don't want her to die.
"You're crying." She stated.
"Oh." I looked away, "Sorry, I didn't mean to in front of you."
"Why are you sad about what you said?" She asked and I feel even worse. Because it is you who I was talking about.
"I was just thinking that you're going to leave me." I told her instead.
She was about to say something but then she closed her mouth. When she opened them again, she said something. "Lehz! Let's dance!"
Wait what?!
Suddenly before I could protest she pulled me over and took lead.
"HEYHEYHEY! NOW WAIT-A-MOMENT?!" I exclaimed.
"Calm down, it's going to be fun. Alright?" She smiled, "Now do you want to lead if you don't instantly stop or shall I continue?"
That's why she took lead at first, I would be trying to end it as soon as possible.
That's probably why she did that.
I gave in, "Let me." I told her smiling.
For once allow me to lead you.
Let me be who you look at when you don't know where to go.
Let me be the light in your days.
I could see everyone starring.
I want to curse them just for that.
But I didn't want to waste my magic or energy for something so.... Almost meaningless.
Let them stare, I thought.
Then Levy began to sing that song.
She didn't care if they heard and questioned it with her voice supposedly gone.
To this day, I wondered why she decided.
Still I danced to her song.
Hush a lumi ni
Kasana soka te
Oh the ocean breathes
The waves tell a story with these
Oh here comes the sun
With it's flame shimmering down
Like a silent star in the twilight town
Mukada nuli see
Numala fuka San tay wei
Oh of the secret it dreams each night
A Truth mustn't be spoken in the light
Hear a special song
Awaken from you sleeping along
My voice calls out to you
In deep sunken sea drowning ever be
Mun lalalai fu nami da
Sen oi tee de kan usheti kanawa
Free your soul
Evermore unkati nol oonali
From this desperate hour
This final hour dreams will fade
Darkness will develop you so
Maybe that you resides much more Oh
In a deep paradise of an ocean raid
And farewell dreams fade away
Come ever forlorn
Kuna talala etai mokante and stay
Everyone stared, no doubt it was because she had a voice- a beautiful one-- which was singing.
Then I snapped my fingers and muttered a spell. All around little figments of pretty little lights flew up.
Maybe I didn't always like attention but this is the attention I wanted. I am different, I know that.
And I was going to show all those that sneered at us and caused us strange that we don't need them, we are confident with each other.
Because all of them... heh, they don't deserve us.
"I love doing this, dancing... Singing and just doing this with you." She laughed.
Oh I missed that laugh.
It was so beautiful and just fills your ears with wonder.
"I missed this." I responded, "Just follow my lead."
I took a step back, then to the side.
My left "foot" went behind my right "foot". I held onto Levy with one hand only and went back several as she spun around.
We repeated that several times.
I went back once more and she was about to spin, but suddenly I fell.
Levy let go and watch me fall.
She was laughing at me too.
I looked behind me and saw the woman in red.
She got up and wiped the dirt off her dress and smiled.
"Sorry," the girl said in an almost deep-serious voice. "I should have looked where I was going."
I got up and put my hand up, "It's fine."
She was just there and I was just staring back at her. Levy was a little ways behind me.
"Umm..." The woman in red began to state, "You we're staring at me earlier. But I can inform you I am not interested in the likes of you."
I widen my eyes, "Likes of me? Well I'll never be into you anyways. You just stood out to me that's all."
"You'll never be into me?!" She gasped, "Well that's a bit rude."
I pressed my lips in a thin line, "That came out bad. I meant I am not interested in anyone but another." I smiled sheepishly.
"Well I feel the same, I am not into certain individuals like you sir," she stated firmly.
Breathe.
Breathe.
It's fine.
She didn't know.
She doesn't know and probably never have met me before.
"Errrr...." Levy stared behind me, "They do not go by sir or miss. Their pronouns are they and them. They identify as non-binary."
The woman widen her eyes, "Oh I had no idea! I.. I am not into males really." She said sheepishly back.
I nodded, "You didn't know," I shrugged, "Alehkzir."
"Agatha." She told me and I widened my eyes. Like Zestrella's Agatha.
"You aren't perhaps Zestrella's.... more than acquaintance are you?" I smiled sheepishly.
Her eyes saddened, "Yeah that's me. I'm okay. She told about you. I didn't really know that but my life will be spared and I just have to..." She trailed off.
"I'm sorry about this." I lowered my head, "I wanted her to leave."
"I can't believe it. She did it for both of you. I never seen her do something like that before." She smiled sadly, "I just hope both of you are happy together..."
She gestured to the both of us as if we were a couple.
I widen my eyes and blinked, "WAIT WHAT?!" I felt my face heat up.
Kill me now.
"No no..." I waved my hands in front of my face, "we aren't a...."
"Come on Alehkzir," Levy grabbed my arm to pull me away.
