Chapter 7- Dr.Rosenberg's POV

Please read the author's note at the end of this chapter!

As the train left, I tried to hold back my tears. Even though we had only known each other for about a week or two, I formed a strong bond with Noel.

I walked to my zoomer that was parked on the side of the street. Not to my surprise, a man  in a Fedora and black trench coat waits by my vehicle.

"Tristan" I say as I arrive at my car.

"Claire" he replies in a mocking tone. He straightens his posture when the distance between me and the zoomer gets smaller. "Where have you been for the past ten years?".

"Cut it with the disguise" I answer back to him. Obviously not wanting to answer his question. "You look like Sherlock".

"That's kind of what I was going for". He shifts his weight to his right foot and takes off his Fedora. The mahogany hairs on his head reflect off of the now setting sun.

"I have to go" I say as I shove past him and throw open the door to my zoomer.  The engine roars to life and I speed out of the parking lot, not looking back to see his reaction. That was the shortest conversation I have ever had in my life.

I don't even turn on the radio in the car like I usually do. My mind kept wandering to the half-conversation that I just had with Tristan.

On second thought, music might be a good idea. At least it will distract me from what happened. I press the button, and music came pouring through the speakers.

My house came into view, and I pulled into the driveway. As soon as I was inside I was going to bed.
__________________________
I could hear the coffeemaker from the living room. It beeped, and I walked to the kitchen to turn it off. My plate of eggs and bacon patiently waited for me on the dining room table. I grabbed my mug of coffee and sat down to enjoy my breakfast. I stared at the tan walls of the living room, the white walls of my kitchen, my black couch, and the wood floor. Wow. So plain. The sun poked through the windows, making me feel the smallest hint of happiness I had had in a long time.

My fork stabbed the eggs that were laying on my plate. I had lost my appetite. "Well Sammy, looks like you get to eat my breakfast again." I say as I place the plate on the floor.

He leaves from his spot on the couch and jogs over to my uneaten food.
He thanks me with a "woof!" and a lick on the face.

"Aw, thanks buddy." I add. My hand runs over his soft, gold fur. Besides Noel, Sammy is the only one who has been their for me.

He gobbles up the food, and returns to his spot on the couch. I drink half of the coffee inky cup and poor the rest in my sink. I usually finish my coffee.

My leather bag sits on the chair by my front door. I throw on my coat and grant as I walk out the door.

Today is going to be a weird workday. Since Noel won't be here, I don't really have anything to do. She's become part of my routine.

The door to my zoomer opens. I place my hands on the steering wheel once I get situated.

My workplace isn't far from where I live. It's only about ten minutes away.

I back out of the driveway. I leave my neighborhood behind as I turn and get on the highway. Today is going to be interesting.

A/N: Sorry about the short chapter! I don't really think it is very good.

On an unrelated note, I was nominated for a tag, so I'll probably do that. The catch is that I am going to delete the chapter after about a week. I am also going to be deleting the "Happy New Years" chapter because it has been throwing me off publishing-wise. So far I have only published seven chapters, but it tells me that this is part eight. So due to the circumstances, I will be deleting those two chapters.

I also wanted to say that I will probably be updating more often.

PS: The picture is of Dr.Rosenberg's dog, "Sammy".
