The next morning, Willy and Charlie were in a meeting coming up with new candy and chocolate flavors, when an oompa loompa alerted them that another Silver Ticket had been found.

The Chocolatier and his apprentice raced to the television room to see at least thirty oompa loompa's watching as a morning news report flashed onto the screen.

"The second Silver Ticket was found just this morning in San Francisco" an anchorman named Avery James said.
He was standing in the middle of a large penthouse apartment, decorated with only two colors, black and white.

"The lucky winner is known as Elvira Entwistle. This young lady has won the local San Francisco beauty pageant five times in a row and is now currently making her way to the Miss United States Pageant and then the Miss Universe Pageant."

The news showed a woman who was quite lovely and appeared to be applying make-up like a pro. The young woman sat in front of a trophy case full of diamond tiara's and silk sashes from past beauty pageants.

At first Willy thought this Elvira could be the one, but then she opened her mouth and sound as artificial as plastic.

"Well, I think it's pretty obvious that I'll be the winner!" She said, like it truly was obvious. "I mean every man wants a beautiful woman and I'm as beautiful as they come."

"You seem quite confident that you'll be the winner of the contest" the anchorman stated.

"Of course!" she said "I mean, look at me! What do I have to be insecure about? Mr.Wonka is going to be blown away at the sight of me!"

"Is their anything you'd like to say to the public or Mr. Wonka himself?" The anchorman asked her.

Elvira looked into the camera and said "To my male public, I'm still available until the contest date" She winked. "To my female public, don't hate me cause I'm more beautiful than you. And to Mr. Wonka, I hope you like you're arm candy gorgeous!"

The news then switched to a commercial break and Charlie looked at Mr. Wonka, who was trying to put on a brave smile.

"Well, at least she's..." his voice trailed off as he tried to think of something nice to say about Elvira. He soon gave up. "I don't know what she is. But third times a charm, right?"

Charlie forced a smile and the oompa loompas nodded, supportively.

Suddenly the news came back on as an anchorwoman announced:

"We interrupt this commercial message for a breaking news story! The third Silver Ticket has been found in Florida by a woman named Vicky Glockenberry! Third times a charm, I suppose!"

"Okay! Now I am positive there's a connection between the television and the telephone!" Willy said "those news reporter people can hear me! I'm sure of it!"

Charlie sighed and watched as they were about to show the third Silver Ticket Winner...

Meanwhile Matilda Hartman was trying to forget her troubles. That night, she got dressed up a little and went to her favorite dessert bar for a milkshake.

Danny's Desserts was Matilda's favorite restaurant in town. When ever she stepped inside she felt like she had walked into a 1950s diner, probably because that was the restaurants theme.

There was a jukebox in the corner playing Lesley Gore's It's my party. Retro movie posters like Rebel without a cause, The Blob and Whatever happened to Baby Jane?  hung up in glass frames above the booths. Plus Danny's had the best cheesecake and chocolate malts this side of the Mississippi river, at least in Matilda's opinion.

Matilda sat down in her usual booth and order a slice of the chocolate peanut butter filled cheesecake. As the waitress took off with her order, Matilda sat alone and began to daydream about when things were simpler, when her dad was alive. Her Dad never called her Matilda, even though it was her given name. No, he used to call her Tilly...

        🍭Matilda's Flashback🍭

"Okay, what's the next ingredient, Tilly?" Mr. Hartman asked her.

A nine year old Matilda looked at the cookbook on the counter. "It says a teaspoon of vinella extract and two egg whites" she said.

"Can you get the egg whites?" He asked her.

"Sure" she said. She cracked an egg over the bowl and carefully shifted the yolk from one half of the shell to another, letting the clear part of the egg drop into the bowl below.

"I see you've been practicing" her father said, watching her.

"Yeah!" She smiled as she finished "And I didn't get any egg shells in the bowl or anything!"

"You're going to make a great chef someday" he told her.

"That's my dream!" Matilda said, whisking the egg whites. "To make my desserts known around the world and write my own cook books!"

"It'll take a lot of hard work?" Her father said.

"It took a lot of hard work to make this lemon meringue pie!" Matilda reminded him "But we did that, didnt we?"

"That's true" her father said, putting the pie to cool in the fridge. "But remember Tilly, whatever path you choose in life I want you to make sure it's a path that makes you happy. Even though it's nice to help others, some dision's you've got to make for yourself. You don't have to become a chef and change the world to make me happy, It just makes me proud to see you smile everyday."

           🍭End of Flashback🍭

Matilda blinked when she saw a young blond and blue-eyed man standing by her booth. She gasped softly as she noticed him. How long had he'd been standing there.

"Hey" he said.

"Oh... um... hi!" Matilda said, blushing like crazy. She really wasn't good with new people. "Sorry, I was just daydreaming..."

"That's fine" the guy said "I just noticed you were sitting all alone?"

"Oh yeah... I just come here to think... and they have amazing cheesecake..." she said, struggling to make conversation.

"I bet" he said "Is this seat taken?" He gestured to the empty side of the booth.

"No... please, by all means" she said. Oh god! She thought I sound like a desperate loner!

"I'm Matilda" she introduced herself.

"Marc" he introduced himself.

The waitress came by with Matilda's order and left.

"That looks great!" Marc said.

"It is, would you like a bite?" She offered.

"Why not?" He took a spoon and took a small bite off the end. He put it in his mouth and savored the flavor of it.

"So, are you new to town or..." Matilda's voice trailed off when Marc began to gag and cough after swallowing the small bite of cheesecake.

"Are you okay?" She asked.

"No!" He coughed violently "Was there nuts in that?"

"Yeah, it's a chocolate peanut butter filled cheesecake..." she said, concerned. "Why?" She asked him.

"I'm allergic to nuts!" Marc told her, hacking and gasping for air.

"Oh! I-I'm so sorry! I didn't know! I-" Matilda started to spew apologizes and panic.

Marc grasped his throat and fell out of the booth.

Matilda sqeauled horrified. "Help!" She yelled "Someone! Help! He's having an allergic reaction!"

Later that night, an ambulance was outside Danny's Desserts, taking Marc away to the hospital. He was breathing and still alive, but that was only because of his brother who was in the bathroom at the time. He got Marc's allergy medication to him just in time.

Matilda felt horrible for what had happened, she was just trying to be friendly. But being friendly with new people was a skill she never mastered. She was terribly shy and insecure. Everytime someone new comes along and tries to talk to her, she's turns into an accident magnet, a clutz, a total fool.

Marc wasn't the first goof-up she had, one time a boy named Rylee in her culinary class tried to flirt with her. Matilda was flattered and he was very sweet with her... until she accidentally set the sleeve of his chef's uniform on fire!

Matilda had the worst luck when it came to dating. Men seemed to like her and were able to give her a chance. But she always managed to screw it all up somehow.

As Matilda walked home that evening she felt like she should just crawl into the first hole she would and stay there forever.

AN: So now we met Elvira who has too much confidence and Matilda who has little-to-no confidence! Hmm... 🤔
