12. Arrival

Whitby bay was strangely still and silent, it was as if the towns folk knew something or someone powerful was about to descend on their sleepy fishing port. Over on the far side of the quay, I could see a sole fisherman, a young lad sat with his fishing line dangling into the harbor. He was oblivious to his impending death. I guess that crab fishing was better at night? In a fog-like cloud, I descended over the unsuspecting fool and with my many fangs, I drank. At first he screamed but soon he became compliant. Now with enough strength in all of my small bodies, I transformed back into my full Vampiric form and continued with my drink.

With a last drawn out suck, the lad rattled dry. Finished, I lifted the empty and lifeless body above my head and flung it far into the middle of the harbor. Once found, the town's folk would simply believe him to have fallen into the sea and drowned during the night.

My chest throbbed madly, my heart, now full of vigorous blood, beat achingly and like a compass it pointed me towards the woman I desired. Now I could be with my Noreen.

With the stealth only the dead possessed, I silently approached Noreen from behind. With a swift and gentle touch, I swept the hair from her neck and placed a sensual and trembling kiss on her porcelain skin. I felt a shudder ran down her spine. She laughed out loud in pleasure and now full of excitable exuberance, she spun around and buried herself into my chest. Tears of joy wept down her face, tears I knew instantly I had to taste. Holding my little finger against her cheek, I captured a droplet and placed it upon the tip of my tongue. It was as sweet as the dew of a winters morning. Full of death, I swept my angel off the night up into my arms and spun her round and round until we both were laughing uncontrollably.

"Oh, how I have missed you my Prince of Darkness" she cooed.

I held Noreen close and kissed her hard. As I breathed in the smell of her hair, I whispered "Every minute without you my love was a year of pure agony. But now we are together again. The night is ripe enough to pluck many fruits. Do you wish to come with me and partake in such fruit as I like to eat?"

I could sense the fight within Noreen. The part of her that retained a small remnant of her old human self, was losing to the newer, much stronger part that had succumbed to me and my blood. Just another nip of my wrist and her old self would be completely banished.

Now, I know what you are thinking, I've only known this lass for only a couple of nights and all of a sudden I am hopelessly in love with her, yes? Well, yes I am. But what you need to understand is that I am immortal and will out live any I take as a lover. You may believe that anyone with immortal tendencies wouldn't be in such a rush, that they would take their time. And yes if course, I have all the time in the world to scour the lands and sample all the fine things it has to offer. Believe me when I say that I have done exactly that, many times over. I have found, possessed and courted the most beautiful of men and women over many human life spans and in every case I have watched them all die of old age. I have learned that it is not I who has all the time in the world, it is them that do not have all the time in the world. So, as a result, I fall in love quickly with those that have such a short time in this existence. That is why, faced with such a beautiful example of womanhood, I am not willing to miss a single day without her before time takes her from me too. I live long and love fast.

With a swift bite, I thrust my bleeding wrist into Noreen's succulent mouth and gasped in pleasure. Oh, the sweet agony I felt as she began to suckle once more. She quickly reached the point where I needed her to stop, but she continued to drink and I let her. To say that I felt light headed would be more than accurate, yet I did not want her to stop. One more second and I would have been much too weak to stop her at all. I did not allow that second to arrive. With all the strength I had left to me, I pulled my wrist away and collapsed into her now strong arms. My angel of the night held me as I recovered and looking into my eyes, she said to me,

"I think it is time we went scrumping for fruit, my darling. I famished, let's eat!"

I beamed the biggest smile up at her. She was radiant in her red dress and pale white skin. As I took leave of her arms, I smoothed down my black velvet jacket and checked that my cufflinks were straight. I had a persona to keep up, tall, dark, strong and of course, suave. I looked deep into Noreen's eyes and said,

"That was the second time you have partaken of my Draculesti blood, there will be no going back after the third. Then you will be mine for a lifetime, in the dark world. You will have powers that no mortal can even dream of. You will never grow old, never suffer illness and never ever feel weak. Oh, and you will be able to fly, have great strength and powers of persuasion. There are other powers you will acquire along the way, but for now, all I need is for you to understand that once you've gone Drac, you can never go back!

Noreen craned her head back and guffawed to the stars above. Once the beautiful sound of her laughter slowly came to an end in a loud and surprising hiccup, she placed her cold fingers on my cheek. A shudder of pleasure coursed through my body at her touch. Her lips hovered tantalisingly within reach of mine. Her voice trembled "For you my love, the darkness cannot come soon enough. If an eternity with you is denied me, then a lifetime in the night by your side will simply have to do"

I took her hand in mine and spun her round. I watched transfixed as she pirouetted round and round gracefully, until I reached out and pulled her back into my arms. With a desire I hadn't felt in a very long time, I kissed her deeply. At last, I said,

"Let's go and get something to drink, to celebrate. Vintage 'AB' negative, I think will be fitting. It is a special occasion after all"
