Chapter 7: Fight or Flight

Yue

"This is not looking good," I fix my hat back on my head while hiding away from the scene that just started up. I guess the Don Krieg guy was more intelligent than he looked if he recognized Crista through her disguise right from the start.

Yue, where are you going? Dairokkan asks, appearing in my mind's eye as I sneak out of the restaurant.

I am going to the boat. I'm not going to risk my neck for that hunter, I responded.

So that's it? Are you going to stab her in the back? The Sixth Sense Devil says in disbelief.

I never trusted her in the first place, I coldly replied. If she wants the Sea Devil Trinity together, then she should have approached me as an ally, not go and hunt me down like the bounty hunter she is.

Yue, you can't fight Teach and Kurai on your own! Tora appears. We need--

No, it's Crista. Crista wants us to fight Teach and Kurai. I cut my devil off. All of this searching is becoming a damn goose chase. We've been looking for Logia's Devil and Master for two years. Two long damn years, Tora! All of the damn leads we've gotten came up as dead ends! All goes quiet on the mental plane as I approach the boat Crista and I traveled on. I go inside the cabin only to freeze at a presence in the room.

Is it me, or does our unwelcomed guest smell like bourbon? Tora asks.

They do and are terrible at hiding, I mentally growled as I grab my main katana and slash at a nearby closet. The result was a tall dude falling out from the side of the coat closet. On him were a shortsword and a morning star whip at his waist. But as I approach him, I realized in disbelief that he was out cold, snoring the day away as the stench of alcohol was on his breath.

And here I thought Roronoa Zoro was an awful hunter for his lack of direction, Tora sweatdrops as I put my sword away before quickly grabbing a rope to tie the stranger up. But just as I step forward, my feet are suddenly swept out from underneath me as the hunter quickly pins me down.

"For someone that's got a twenty-five million Berri mark," the hunter takes the rope and ties my wrists, "You're not very bright to check if I was faking my hangover or not."

"Don't underestimate me, you jackass!" I yelled before shifting to a hybrid form that's big enough to not only break the ropes but also shake off the hunter off. I then bolt out the door with my swords as the restaurant starts to turn into a battleship of sorts in front of what appears to be a galleon ship. And by the looks of it, the big boat took a big beating.

"Yue, please," Dairo appears, this time in a human form as I return to my own human state. "Don't abandon Crista. I understand your impatience in searching Logia's chosen host. But if you leave now, your chances of making it back to Law are severely low."

"Don't you dare bring Law into this!" I snapped as I dodge pirates that start to come off the beaten galleon. "Law has nothing to do with this Trinity bullshit!"

"Murasaki!!" I hear Crista call out to me. But before I could respond, the hunter reappears with weapons at the ready. I curse under my breath as he twirls his morning star whip around, knocking down anyone that got in his way. However, just as he spots me in the crowd, he's suddenly hit in the face with an egg.

"What the hell??" I ask before looking in the direction where the egg came from. Turns out it was the long-nosed guy from earlier, sporting a pair of goggles over his eyes along with a slingshot. The hunter, on the other hand, wasn't too amused by the antic. He heaves the whip in an arc, the spike end landing inches away from Long Nose. The sling shooter freaks out before scrambling away. I use the distraction to quickly get to the Psychic Maiden.

"What's the plan now, genius?" I sarcastically ask the redhead.

"We're leaving on a different boat," she responds, putting her weapons away. "Head for a ship called the Going Merry. I made a deal to the crew running that boat--"

"Luffy, we got trouble!" I hear a voice call out. I glance over to see a pair of guys who look like rookie hunters make a run to the straw hat-wearing boy that recently appeared into the fight.

"Eh? What kind of trouble?" Luffy asks.

"Nami's a traitor!" the hunter with the glasses exclaimed. "She took off with the Going Merry!"

"WHAAAT?!?" both Luffy and the sling shooter from earlier exclaim in shock. However, their reactions are short-lived when the ship suddenly groans and starts to sink in two. Everyone, pirates, and cooks from the Baratie, watch in shock as the ship breaks down from what looks like a clean-cut attack that hit the boat down the middle.

"Don't tell me. . . Don't tell me that he's now here," Crista says in disbelief as a small boat appears in the wreckage. I slowly recognize the raft by the black sail and green candles, one on each side of the owner sitting on the boat. As for the owner himself, it was the very man that confronted me as a test of strength nearly two and a half years ago. The man that not only is the Strongest Swordsman in the world, but also a Shichibukai for the World Government.

"Sorry, but it's really him," I sigh. "The man, the myth, the legend. . . 'Hawkeye' Dracule Mihawk." The warlord then lifts his head, his golden hawk gaze catching my own tiger-like gaze, as my glasses were lost during the scuffle with the whip-wielding hunter.

"Aren't you a mystery to meet again," Hawkeye says when he gets close to be heard, "Mikami D. Yue."
