Quietly, Naruto walks into the hospital. He asks the receptionist for Darui's room number. After Naruto gets the number, walks to the room, and enters to find a bandaged Darui. Naruto says, "Dull-sensei, I'm sorry."

Darui says, "Dull-sensei...? Nevermind I know the answer to that dull question. Why are you sorry? You did great in our fight. In fact, you did so great, that I'm going to teach you Black Lightning. Remember what I said?"

Naruto nodded. He answers, "If you can beat me, but..."

Darui says, "Now you get it. I may have been hospitalized, but your one of the strongest Kumo-nin in history. I have no doubt about that. You pass the test. As of this moment you are my apprentice, and I am your master."

Meanwhile, Jiraiya is in Mount Myōboku. Jiraiya was revered summoned there by Fukasaku. Fukasaku is a green toad with white hair styled in somewhat of a mohawk, very thick eyebrows and a small goatee. He has been seen wearing two capes: a high-collared one and a simpler version.

Fukasaku is considered very wise and is greatly respected by all who know them well enough. In reality, he constantly bickers with Shima over small things when they should focus on the bigger picture, such as the fact that a battle will cause them to miss dinner.

Mount Myōboku is a rich and beautiful land, whose ultimate authority seems to be the Great Toad Sage. Shima and Fukasaku are both elders and sages, and they seem to have an even higher authority than Gamabunta himself.

Shima is the wife of Fukasaku, and admired as the Mother of the Toad Way. She is considered open-hearted and her personality allows her to see everything with great clarity. Because of this, she is adored by all toads as the "Mother of the Toad Way".

Shima has a green underside with purple marking around her mouth and the back of her body. The top of her head looks as though she is wearing a hair net with hair-rollers underneath, giving her an 'old woman' look. She has been seen wearing two types of capes: a high-collared one and a simpler one.

Gamabunta is the chief toad of Mount Myōboku. The toad is a grumpy, stubborn and highly apathetic toad. He does not like to take orders from anyone, unless the summoner is highly talented and earns his respect. While he is quite confident of his abilities as a fighter, he is well aware of his limitations and perceptive of the power of his enemies.

Gamabunta is one of the largest summons in the series, comparable in size to a Tailed Beast, but his size varies at certain points of the series. At his largest, he towers over an entire forest and his body's size is comparable to Kurama's torso before he was split between Yin and Yang, but at his smallest he was shorter than three-story buildings in Konohagakure. He is coloured a dull, rusty red, but around his eyes and on his lips and chest are brighter red markings. Over his left eye, he received a scar at some point in the past. His tongue, has a series of stud-like piercings on both the upper and lower side. He often wears a large blue happi vest that has the kanji "蝦" (ebi) on the back, and always carries a massive dosu blade at his hip. He also carries a large kiseru pipe which he often smokes.

Gamamaru, who is more commonly known as the Great Toad Sage (大ガマ仙人) is the oldest and most respected toad of all the inhabitants of Mount Myōboku. Because of his age, the other toads affectionately call him Great Honourable Geezer (大じじ様). He is famed for his highly accurate prophecies.

At his great age, Gamamaru seems to constantly smile and tends to have his eyes closed or takes to squinting. He is portrayed and described as being senile, and sometimes out of touch with his present situation, so he does tend to forget things easily and quite quickly. However, when reminded, he is still able to remember things and can easily tell things very precisely. As a sage, he is also very wise, and is quick to stop Shima and Fukasaku from bickering and encourages harmony. It would seem that unlike most other toads, he actually has respect for Jiraiya, and has urged both Shima and Fukasaku to cooperate with him.

He is one of the largest inhabitants of Mount Myōboku, easily equalling Bunta, Ken, and Hiro in size. He is brown in colour, with a white belly, is very wrinkled and has taken to squinting. He wears a professor's hat with tassels and an orb on top of it. He also wears a necklace with the toad's village symbol for "oil" (油) on it.

Jiraiya is standing in front of these people. He asks, "Why'd you summon me here, Pops?"

Fukasaku answers, "Naruto has recently summoned Gamakichi. Gamakichi, while not having the longest time spent with Naruto-chan recently, has said he is very strong. Able to fight Kuroi Kaminari no Darui (Darui of the Black Lightning) to a stand still. All though, he couldn't see the end of the fight as he got unsummoned by an attack. So we are here to have a meeting on whether or not Naruto-chan can learn Sage Mode."

Jiraiya is kinda shocked, but is extremely happy. He says, "In my opinion Naruto should learn Sage Mode. I mean, he definitely has the chakra capacity for it. He could even be a "Perfect Sage", just like Minato. The problem here, is if the Raikage would let us train him in the use of Senjutsu, and Sage Mode."

Fukasaku nods, agreeing with Jiraiya. While Gamabunta says, "Just walk to Kumo, and fucking ask the Raikage."

Jiraiya replies, "Guess that is the only way, ain't it." So with that being said, Fukasaku reverse summons Jiraiya back to Konoha. Jiraiya then leaves for Kumogakure no Sato.

Back in Kumo, with Naruto, who is with Darui training. What are they training for? Well, it's more specifically Naruto, who is training. Darui is just steering Naruto in the right direction. Anyway, Naruto is training to be able to use Black Lightning.

Darui then says, "Naruto, gather, and concentrate more chakra!"

Naruto, with a bead of sweat going down his forehead, asks, "What do you think I'm doing, Dull-sensei?!"

Darui answers, "Well, the chakra you're gathering isn't concentrated enough."

Naruto gets angry at Darui's reponse, and just pours really dense chakra into his hand. Which makes it change to black, but the technique sparks, and shocks Naruto. Naruto loses concentration, and the Technique fizzles out.

Darui says, "Good Job, Naruto. Your lightning turned black for a second. We can continue this tomorrow. Let's go do a mission."

They, well more like just Naruto does a series of ten easy D-Rank missions. The only way he could do ten D-Rank missions in one day, is the most obviously done with the use of Shadow Clones. After that, Naruto goes home to the apartment.

It is now the next day, and Darui is having Naruto channel chakra all throughout his body, making sure it is concentrated, and as dense as Naruto's chakra can get. This time, Naruto is getting help from his Shadow Clones.

A week has passed, and Naruto can consistently use Black Lightning. All though, the blonde Uzumaki is not a master of the technique. The training is very tough, and consisted of channeling Lightning Chakra throughout his body, and his different body parts. Like legs, arms, hands, and feet.

This is also the exact time, Jiraiya has entered Kumo. And soon, he is surrounded by some Kumo Jounin, and the Raikage. The Raikage asks, "Jiraiya, why are you here? Come to take Naruto away?"

Jiraiya answers, "No, I haven't come to take Naruto away. I came to ask you something in regards to Naruto."

The Raikage thinks it over, and tells, the Jounin to get back to their duties, and for Jiraiya to follow him. Once they got to the Raikage's office, A asks, "So what did you want to ask me in regards to Naruto?"

Jiraiya answers, "If you didn't know, Naruto is a summoner of the Toad Clan. The Toad Chief, Gamabunta, and his Elders Fukasaku, and Shima think that Naruto is ready to learn Sage Mode, and how to use Senjutsu."

The Raikage asks, "Sage Mode? How long will this training take?"

Jiraiya answers, "Sage Mode is an empowered state that can be entered by blending natural energy with one's chakra, creating senjutsu chakra. Sage Mode allows users to tap into the natural force of the world, opening up new techniques to them and allowing them to power up existing ones with the new senjutsu chakra. It could take weeks, months, or even years."

The Raikage says, "You can take him to the home of the Toads. Here is the location of his apartment."

Naruto is at home relaxing with Pakura, when someone knocks on the door. He gets up to answer the door, and finds Jiraiya standing on the other end. The blonde then yells, "ERO-SENNIN (Pervy Sage)!"

Pakura then gets up to see why Naruto yelled, only to see Jiraiya. Jiraiya also notices the girl, and asks, "So the girl. Gaki, is she your girlfriend?"

Naruto nods, as Jiraiya replies, "Your Kaa-chan would approve. Anyway, Bunta, and the Toad Elders want you to learn Sage Mode."

Pakura asks, "What is Sage Mode?"

Naruto answers, "First, we got to start off with Senjutsu. Senjutsu is a specialised field of techniques that allows the user to sense and then gather natural energy. Senjutsu practitioners learn to draw the energy of nature inside of them, blending it with their own chakra. This adds a new dimension of power to the practitioner's chakra, resulting in the creation of "senjutsu chakra". In order to use Senjutsu you have to have to be perfectly still, and it takes a long time to gather the natural energy to use Senjutsu. Plus if you don't know how to control it, you could turn into a stone toad. Those that can absorb or manipulate senjutsu chakra are known as sages. Generally, senjutsu chakra cannot be used by those untrained in senjutsu; those who are enter a form called Sage Mode, increasing their physical parameters for as long as the mode is active. That's all I know."

Pakura asks, "When will you be leaving?"

Jiraiya answers, "In the morning, so don't worry."

It is the next day, in the early morning and Naruto is now at the Gate of Kumo with Jiraiya, until they disappear with a puff of smoke clouding anyone from seeing what had happened. They reappear in what Naruto assumes is Mount Myōboku. Jiraiya says, "Welcome to Mount Myoboku. Home of the greatest summon animals in the world. Home of th..."

Fukasaku, interrupts Jiraiya saying, "Jiraiya boy, let the boy develop his own opinions."

Naruto says, "Can we start now? I have a girl at home, and she is most likely worried sick about me."

Fukasaku says, "Sure. Let's go. Come follow me to the Sacred Oil Fountain. The oil is called Toad Oil. It helps you collect nature energy, when applied to your skin."

When they get to the fountain, Fukasaku rubs the oil onto Naruto's forearm. Naruto's whole right side turns toad-like. But a hit from Fukasaku's staff removes it instantly. A couple days later Naruto has mastered the use of Toad oil.

Fukasaku says, "Now it's time to learn how to control nature energy without the Toad Oil. For this you have to be perfectly still." Naruto starts to meditate, but his features grew toad-like. Thus receiving a smack from Fukasaku's staff. Over the next two days Naruto masters that as well.

Jiraiya was shocked. In four days, Naruto had completed the first two parts of the training. Now all he has to do his Frog Kumite, and then merging practice. Jiraiya out loud asks, "How are you this good with nature energy?"

Naruto says, "I have a chakra beast inside me whose chakra is related to Senjutsu in some way, shape, or form." It then clicks for Jiraiya and Fukasaku. The Kyuubi's chakra is Senjutsu.

Fukasaku says, "Time for Frog Kumite. It's a Taijutsu style, that uses Senjutsu, to extend your natural attack range." The old toad slips into the Frog Kumite stance, while Naruto tries his best to copy the stance. And over the next two days, Naruto has mastered Frog Kumite.

Fukasaku says, "Time for merging practice." And by the days end, Naruto had mastered merging with the toads. Not that he needed to merge with the Toad Elders.

Jiraiya says, "You have mastered Senjutsu in a week. Your markings indicate that you are a Perfect Sage. Let's go home, your girl is waiting." Naruto is glad he doesn't have to eat Fukasaku wife, Sima's cooking. Her cooking is all bugs. Not that is was horrible, but it kinda is really gross. Jiraiya and Naruto disappear in a puff of smoke.

The two reappear in front of the Front Gates. Naruto looks at the scene. The sun is setting behind the village, causing the sky to turn all sorts of oranges, pinks, and purples. He looks, and sees Pakura waiting for him at the gate. When Pakura notices Naruto, she rushes him, tackling him into a hug, and smothers him in kisses. Naruto replies, "Pakura-chan, I love you too. You don't have to worry. I'm fine."

Pakura blushes, and then looks at Naruto in great detail. He changed his outfit slightly. As Naruto now sport a long black, sleeveless coat, with a tall collar, that goes just above his chin, and an orange flame pattern around the hem. She then asks, "Naruto-kun, what's with the coat?"

Naruto answers, "It's a Sage Coat. I denotes that I am a Sage, which is the name for people who can use Sage Mode."

Pakura then grabs on to Naruto's wrist dragging him to their apartment.
